Canes could end up without QB in '11 class

Teddy Bridgewater is taking his talents to Louisville, Ky.

The nation's No. 2 dual threat quarterback and a top recruiting priority for the University of Miami before Randy Shannon was fired decided over the weekend according to his mother he will be following his Miami Northwestern teammate and favroite receiver Eli Rogers to Cardinals Country. Both players were recruited by former UM recruiting coordinator Clint Hurtt.

"Man, more than anything it came down to playing time," Bridgewater told Scout.com "With me enrolling early I can come in and compete for a starting spot. When I visited I had nothing but love from all the coaches but especially coach Hurtt and coach [Charlie] Strong."

Bridgewater was committed to UM until about a week after Shannon was fired. His mother, Rose Murphy, was unhappy with the way Hurricanes fans reacted to her son de-committing from UM. "Every kid has to look out for what is best for them," Murphy said. "Teddy is a great kid, hardworking kid. He doesn't deserve all that hate."

Bridgewater was once considered the centerpiece to UM's 2011 signing class. But the Hurricanes may not end up signing a quarterback in this class at all. Most of the best ones have long been committed to other programs.

> The Hurricanes picked up their first commitment under new coach Al Golden over the weekend when 6-6, 280-pound prep school defensive lineman Olsen Pierre announced he was going to be part of the class.

Pierre, a former Temple commitment at Fork Union (Va.) Military Academy, visited UM over the weekend with three other players: Brockton, Mass. cornerback Albert-Louis Jean, Vero Beach High offensive guard Marcus Jackson and Knoxville (Tenn.) Catholic High punter Spencer Roth.

"I had the best time of my life," Pierre told Canesport.com of his visit. "[Golden] recruited me to Temple, and I'm the only one from Temple that he's taking with him here. He's been recruiting me since my freshman year [at Rahway High School in New Jersey], saw me grow."

Louis-Jean's father said his son will announce his final decision at a press conference at school on Jan. 5. Jackson's recruiting coordinator Pete LeDuke said last week he would make his final decision at the Under Armour All-American Game in St. Petersburg on Jan. 5.

We only want players that want to be here - bye bye teddy don't let the gate from our empty professional stadium hit ya. NW kids are lame anyway. We are recruiting kids from the northeast now so no worries. As for teddy's mom - way to coddle the boy. Tell him to grow up

Really? Felt nothing but love? Big baby. He said it. Came down to playing time. He was afraid of competing here but not at Louisville. His mom needs to stop whining about the fans. Fans are like this everywhere.

They need to go after proset QB's anyway. These skinny spread an doesn't work.

I did not like Teddy much, I just hate that now we have no QB, we are already thin there. At least we have a good backup regardless, but nobody waiting in the wings after Harris graduates.

What a winer. Time for this kid to man up and HTFU.

I for one and happy that we don't have to fit a square peg into a round hole. Now lets get a pro style QB. Teddy has a high skill set but it wouldnt have been utilized at the U. Good luck.

teddy is bumm anyways scared of competition a jacory harris clone with a water pistol for a arm should go after the kid from st.thomas

Golden lands first commitment for 2011...Olsen Pierre, DE, 6-4, 280lbs.

All right maybe someone can convince Jake Rudock to stay home. Specially after all the issues in Iowa. He is a true pro-style QB and his receiver (Dorsett)will be coming to the U.

Are there any "round holes" left out there to recruit?

D-bag...spoken like a true Gator fan...way to go boy!!!!

So not only did Teddy want to be the only QB recruited in this class but he decides that even still there is too much competition at Miami for him??? WEAK SAUCE!!! Have fun being a Cardinal LMAO

[]_[] GO CANES []_[]

LOL! I bet you guys were in love with Teddy when he was committed to UM. Good thing he realized what a fake fanbase Miami has, and didn't make the mistake Jacory made. All 3 of you probably hate Jacory already and the NW class that made you have the number 1 class in the country, but when they signed I bet you were all about them. No wonder nobody wants to coach for your sorry school or go there....
GO NOLES!!!!! :)

I really don't think Bridgewater was in Goldens plans to begin with. I think he is going to get him a white boy from up north...if not this year then next to groom for the future. Bridgewater looks like another J12 anyhow...too skinny...too fragile for D1 football.

Nice try PIG Sean Wilson.

I predicted that Teddy would lead the canes to a vicory of FU in 2013. I still say wait until signing day.

Glad to hear Bridgewater is gone. All we needed was another Jacory Harris. Good call bro, to be a Cane or a Cardinals, LMAO !! Enjoy Kentucky ... Know lets go after a real QB a "PROVEN WINNER UNLIKE BRIDGEWATER WHO CHOKED EVERYTIME IN THE BIG GAMES" !!

GREAT MOVE TEDDY..

CHARLIE STRONG VS ALVIN GOLDEN IS A NO BRAINER.. IN STRONG YOU GET A PROVEN WINNER 2 NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS WITH FLORIDA, TOP DEFENSIVE MIND WHO HAS HELP SEND YOUNG ATHLETES TO THE NFL.

IN AL GOLDEN YOU GET...CRICKETS...Oh wait he came in third place in the MAC with Temple..and he played at penn state and won National Championships in 19..oohhh Crickets..well he sent the following guys to the NFL from temple...CRICKETS...
OH..here's one..he talks a good game.

GOOD LUCK TEDDY GREAT CHOICE!!!

All this means is he couldn't handle Miami.. Have fun in Louisville

Guess Gatard trash will have to come up with another excuse for their pathetic OOC. Seems like Georgia is joining Alabama, Tennessee, Auburn, errr everyone else in the SEC except cowardly putrid UFelony in scheduling their OOC:

"Georgia is reaching out to several powerhouse Midwestern football programs in the hopes of scheduling games later in the decade. Preliminary discussions have taken place with Michigan, Notre Dame, Ohio State and Penn State about the prospect of one or more of them scheduling a home-and-home series with Georgia in the future, UGA athletics director Greg McGarity confirmed to Dawgs247."

What next, Gatard trash? The airports and baggage handlers in the SEC are soo tough there is no need to go elsewhere?

You remain a joke.

Never high on Bridgewater.

As we all will get familiar saying here at
THE U again:

"You can come here and win with Us or go elsewhere and get beat by Us."

We will get a QB in this class. Word has it a number of top recruits are taking a very hard look at THE U now that Golden has arrived.
As potential recruits have had the time to do their due diligence on our new coach, they like what they see.

I am A UM fan and I understand why Bridgewater and his mother were unhappy. Some of you posters are totally classless. The young man has a lot of talent no matter where he chooses to play. When coaches change, so does the atmosphere at the school. These men have the right to go where they please. With morons like you guys chiding them for deciding to go elsewhere it is even more understandable why they would do so.

have fun being in 7th place in the big east and due us a favor and dont even show your face in the hood anymore. and take little eli with you lets make room for the real dade boys who have orange and green in them

Well said Joe. I think Golden will find him a good, smart quarterback from up north

Good luck to TB. He has the right to make the best choice for him.

We have Stephen Morris as our future QB, and Jacory as a senior next year. It would be great to have Rudock, and hopefully he will give UM another look, but we have an entire year to find a dropback, prostyle passer.

GO CANES! BEAT ND!

He realized that he could only compete against guys from that area and that Jacory and Morris were too much competition for him. and for the guy who said that Charlie Strong has 2 National Titles and blah blah. come on dude. you don't have a wallet big enough to bet they can win a national championship there. and your sorry Gators are praying that Muschamp can do something with what is left of Florida.

mama bridgewater.. yur son is a baby and we dont need him or want him at the U. we never did... Shannon is the only one who wanted to bring JSKINNY his twin brother so he can play with him at night..... LETS go after a reaal QB a white boy from up north who is not scare of the U....

Back to the Gator's OOC schedule. It's not like the SEC has played for anything recently anyways. That conference is over rated.

WOW we are getting Temple's recruits...it's going downhill fast..we should have hired Mario Cristibal at least we could have recruited locally and he has won a share of his conference title..can't say the same about Golden..I really hope this works for UM, but I doubt that it will.

This is the best news I have heard all day! No Bridgewater is fine by me and thank god he is not coming here. I have had it dealing w/ overrated and overhyped Miami NW QBs.

Temple?..Really?,

Coach Hurt? Coach Strong? . . . Really? They've done nothing. Bridgewater is just following a loser that got fired by Shannon after last years season. Bridgewater was going where ever Hurt guided him.

"You can come here and win with Us
or go elsewhere and get beat by Us."

Craig Stewart,

"You can come here and win with Us
or go elsewhere and get beat by Us."

Bridgewater is just following a loser that got fired by Shannon after last years season. Bridgewater was going where ever Hurt guided him.

The sidelines will be full of Canes Greats again for the first time since the 2000 season!

Too much to handle at Miami?..scared to compete?..dude Miami lost 5 games, the staduim is half empty and the new coach is from Temple..what's attractive about that?

He dont like Whipple or his play calling. This some stupid crap about competeing for a spot. He wass down earlier about coming in and competeing for a spot. Now he want to use RS and competeing for a roster spot as a scape goat. This dude and his friend wr can go to that could weather. What a chump

Still stealing names pig? At least you spelled it right this time.

canes89,

Your an uneducated ignorant moron. But to be more efficient - we call you and your kind;

GayTurds!

he was after playing time and not the education after all mom? anyway... Shannon is not even here and he is still decimating the football program... why is our recruiting in such bad shape? thanks for nothing Randy...

Craig. He is going to face adversity, the media, and the fan base anywhere he goes. If he can't take criticism than he isn't the qb for this program and will surely NOT make it in the NFL. He was swayed too much on Eli Rogers decision not to pursue Miami which really shows he isn't capable of being a REAL leader on the collegiate level. He may prosper playing WEAK schedules year to year and teams in the Big East Conference. Just glad he is NOT coming to Miami. Wouldn't survive athletically or academically.

Marquis Williams (now a soft UNC committ) wanted to be a can ebut Randy Shannon told Teddy he would be the only QB he recruited. Maybe we can get him.

see ya !

lets get a pro style QB in here that wants to
be here

LOL! I bet you guys were in love with Teddy when he was committed to UM. Good thing he realized what a fake fanbase Miami has, and didn't make the mistake Jacory made. *******

HAHAHAHAHAHAHA! I agree!
Best of luck to the fella. It's his life, wtf I look like being mad over his decision. Some of these clowns need to grow up..

Canes fan until they bury me!!!

Golden better recruit two quarterbacks next year. We are basically in the same situation right now that existed in Coker's last year. Two quarterbacks on the roster.

The last thing we need is for Golden to recruit one guy and have him decommit at the last moment for whatever reason.

As for Mr. Bridgewater, good luck in Louisville. Could have been the next great Cane wide receiver...

Bye bye, Teddy, the "U" needs men not boys, your headed into oblivion. Bye bye

I'm ashamed that some of you guys are Hurricane fans. You're almost as bad as gator fans.

Kid wants to go elsewhere because things changed and he wants to play? Fine, let him, good luck to him as he gets an education and tries to eventually play professionally.

We don't need him; or any player for that matter. But that doesn't mean that you should bash him as a player or person either.

Temple had the highest budget in the MAC 2 times the 2nd closes team?..and didn't even when their division of the conference..

so what makes you think Miami who wont spend money and a coach who hasn't won anything will win a NC..get real..UM is a mid level school with a below level coach..are you living in today?

Stealing a lot of names on here. I guess it must be boring as usual in trailerville gaturd pig troll.

BTW, momma bridgewater if you are bothered by what fans say don't visit any Louisvilee blogs in the future. Fans are the same everywhere.

On behalf of all cane fans I would like to apologize to your sensitive son. Good luck to him and you.

LOLatUM is a FUNNY GAL! See you guys in our Rear View next year. I would be scared of Golden if I were you too Jimbo Fisher! LMAO

HAHAHAHAHAHAHA! I agree!

Actually I NEVER wanted Bridgewater as we do not need another Jacory Harris clone from Miami NW HS who is overhyped and overrated. We need to go out of state and bring in a QB, nothing good comes fron South. FL QB's. Go ask yourself an find the answers to where all the great Miami QB's came from and when you find the answers you will see none came from So. FL.

Good luck Teddy. If your going to run a pro-style offense, then you better have recruited a pro style type of talent. Look in the NFL, and you won't see any dual threat quarterback. Get the picture.

Thank goodness.......... one less thing to worry about next season. Reguardless where he ended up, he was going to get lit up by a LB or End and be out for a season anyways. The Big East will grind him up too. No worries, we'll pick up a QB next year that will fit. Who knows, most commits are verbal right now anyways. If Golden is as good as they say he is, he could snatch one up.

+10 @VOS

Don't criticize the kid. He's just doing what he thinks is right for him. Any recruit must have concerns about player development at Miami if they've paid any attention over the past several years.

The best thing Golden can give UM is continuity in the coaching staff (so far, so good IMO)to help develop these players.

This group was the top offense and #2 D in the ACC and still lost 5 games. That's coaching, folks. (or lack of it more to the point) Bridgewater may be walking away from a very good opportunity here, but can you really blame him for having his doubts?

Rick. I guess you haven't heard of a guy named MICHAEL VICK. I guess a qb who runs the ball and throws is NOT called a DUAL THREAT qb. Hmmmm! Weird!

This kid has Bryce Brown written all over him. To be this self absorbed at 17 is alarming.
