Spring Game Rosters decided (Who do you think will win?)

Two UM alums who won an online auction sponsored by the university selected the teams (with help from UM's coordinators) for Saturday's spring game.

Jimmy Farrell, from Orlando, conferred with offensive coordinator Jedd Fisch.

Tony Alhadeff, from Weston, conferred with defensive coordinator Mark D'Onofrio.

Farrell picked first and chose quarterback Jacory Harris.

Alhadeff then chose running back Lamar Miller.

The spring game is at noon Saturday at Lockhart Stadium in Fort Lauderdale. Parking opens at 8:30 a.m. at the south side. Tailgating is allowed. Gates A and B open at 9:30 a.m. Golden Cane and Football Club reception is at 9:30 a.m.

An autograph session begins at 10 a.m.

560 WQAM radio will broadcast the game.

CSS will televise the game the next day at 5 p.m.

As you probably know by now, the Heat will open their playoffs at 3:30 p.m. Saturday (ABC). So I guess it will be a fun sports marathon Saturday for UM fans.

Henderson's out for Saturday's game with an injury. He was working out on Tuesday with the red jerseys (injured).

Everybody needs to calm the hell down...as somebody who has actually played in a few spring football games at the college level I can tell you that this is how most rosters are divided up for that game....the fan participation thing is different but don't think for one second that Golden isn't in complete control (i.e. - input from Coordinators = don't let the fan choices interfere with what we ultimately want to get done) You guys are a bunch of idiots...sometimes I hate you more than I hate the Gator trolls

Fascinating story by Bruce Feldman regarding Chuck Todd, NBC's WH cief correspondent and Diehard cane fan, who literally stated that he wishes to one day be UM's AD. This guy is for real. his main plan- grassroots, small donors, since the U cannot attract the T Boone Pickens of the world like Ok State. Small donors. He is convinced that through UM's NY and Atl fan bases (which are large) and UM's perennial high TV ratings (The U has been featured in 5/10 highest rated college football games in history), it can be done and supposedly someone at the U said that they have been courting the 'small donors"

I say BS>

I personally made an offer to the U. But they turned me down. Ignored me. I was willing to put down thousands of $. But they never returned my calls. I will not say my name, nor will say what I wanted in return (wasnt anything illegal or unethical). So sc-ew Donna Shalala, and the id-ots who run this U. I was saddened, and hurt by these idiots. Imagine that. I, a non alumn willing to fork out hundreds of thousands of $ for my beloved canes. And they ignored me.

THAT IDIOCY , my friends is who is running the U at Coral Gables.

Source Jorge Milian (WestPalmBeachPost):

"….Golden said that more than 300 former players will be on campus this weekend and attend the spring game. “I’ve never seen that,” Golden said. “I’ve been in college football for 21 years as a player and coach and I’ve never seen 300 alumni that would come back. That is not a reflection on me at all. That’s a reflection of the bond those guys created and the family that is University of Miami football.”

The Championship is coming back to The U. Maybe not this year, but soon. We are going to win the recruiting battles for years to come when those highschoolers see stars in their eyes from milling around The Greats like Lewis, Portis, Edge, Reed, etc etc etc....

Another thought:

Even if Golden wins a couple of Championships and moves on to the NFL, he will effectively create another "pipeline" of players (like JJ made) that will attract every hungry young coach who wants to succeed. Those young coaches know that the future NFL greats pass through UM in huge numbers and it's where they can get the maximal impact for their career before the big leagues.

It starts with Al Golden....

4 FINGERS UP B*TCHES!!!!

what ever happened to marcus fortson??????

I can't believe how stupid some of you people are. You don't know JACK about running a program, or all the different facets of an athletic department. You have to energize the fan base, coach up the kids, cater to alumni, etc. The on-line auction was open to the public as a way to raise money and get fans involved. The teams are even so they can compete. This game is more serious that it has ever been. Who cries about an auction draft for a spring game? It's often chosen this way by the coaches anyhow. You want to run 1s against 2s all day? Get a F#$%^& clue you morons. Can't believe how stupid you are. Golden is a damn genius- he's the first coach to come in here and blatantly respect the U and our tradition, while Shalala tries to distort it with her awkward commercials. Try picking up an article once in a while- read the ESPN article on Chuck Todd posted yesterday. He explains clearly how stupid the U looks while Shalala tries to call us the U but we run from our 80's persona. Golden has invited everyone back. 300 alumni on the sidelines are you kidding me? What recruit isn't going to want to be a part of that? He's bringing back the U and embracing the tradition of the past players, just as he said at his first press conference. God I hate how dumb you idiots are.

Way to go JimmyY! Your first pick was the MVP, too bad he'll be the MVP for the other team...
