Pairings announced for Canes baseball in ACC Tourney (UM women's tennis falls to Florida Gators in NCAA quarterfinals -- again)

The Hurricanes will have their hands full next week in the Atlantic Coast Conference baseball tournament.

Of course, they've had their hands full all season.

The ACC announced the pairings and seedings for the 8 teams in the ACC Tournament that begins Wednesday at Durham Bulls Athletic Park in Durham, N.C.

Fifth-seeded UM  (34-20, 19-10 ACC) will be in Pool A with No. 1 Virginia (45-9, 22-8), No. 4 North Carolina (44-12, 20-10) and No. 8 Wake Forest (25-28, 15-15).

The Canes open play against UNC at 11 a.m. Thursday, May 26. They play Virginia at 11 a.m. Friday and conclude pool play against Wake at 3 p.m. Saturday.

The good news for the Hurricanes is that they were 6-3 this season against the other three teams in their pool. Also, if Miami ends up doing well, it definitely helps its cause with an RPI as it relates to the regional.

The championship game will be at 1 p.m. Sunday between the winner of Pool A and Pool B -- No. 2 FSU (40-15, 19-11), No. 3 Georgia Tech (39-17, 22-8), No. 6 Clemson (39-17, 17-13) and No. 7 NC State (33-23, 15-15).

HORN NAMED TO RIMINGTON TROPHY WATCH LIST

UM senior center Tyler Horn was named to the 2011 Rimington Trophy Watch List. As a junior last season, Horn started all 13 games at center and finished tied for third in both pancake (39) and lumberjack (7) blocks.

UM WOMEN'S TENNIS WAS JUST ELIMINATED BY THE FLORIDA GATORS IN THE NCAA QUARTERFINALS FOR THE SECOND YEAR IN A ROW. THE GATORS WON 4-1.

SEASON ENDS FOR UM AS A TEAM, BUT BIANCA EICHKORN AND ANNA BARTENSTEIN WILL STAY IN STANFORD, CALIF. TO COMPETE IN THE NCAA INDIVIDUAL CHAMPIONSHIPS. THEY WILL EACH PLAY SINGLES, AND ALSO PLAY DOUBLES TOGETHER.

Gators Win ... again

Tennis, wow you turds must be so proud, to bad you cant beat Miami in football, remember 1-8 in last 9 games

Yeah, gators won at Women's TENNIS. I mean seriously. I was a swimmer and I love the news about those secondary sports but really Gator trolls are beating their chest at women's tennis. Get a life. Good season girls.

I mean I think the Gator fans must just be upset that all they can root for is a college team. To bad they don't have a NBA team right now playing for a championship, A baseball team that is the 3rd best team in MLB and a pro football team to follow. Its just funny when Women's Tennis is the talk of the town.

Miami cannot and will not compete with FSU and UF in every sport. The school is just too small for that. Plus the state schools can take just about anyone. No academic standards for the most part.

Canes will win a national championship before an NBA team will dare sniff that trailerpark craphole.

Man, I bet all those Gainesville 'necks were hoping for the Rapture to put an end to their disgusting lives and horrible smell.

Gainesville a trailer park craphole? Have you ever even been to Gainesville? Isn't it in Miami where child molesters used to live under a bridge right by South Beach? Isn't it in Miami where tragically a bunch of cops have died after being shot by crack addicts and known murderers?

Good job to both teams on a great season. Go Gators! Get that fifth title.

Gators have three players on the court for this series...James Jones is m.i.a.
The NBA comes to Gainesville every year looking for players.
By the way the men's tennis team also beat um and sent them packing.
Keep thinking Miami is a better academic school, with higher standards...Ha!
It's good to beat um anytime....and try not living in the past!

doobie, and lynksys: Yes, former gators in the series. One of them, you know, the ugly one with the pony tail (as many turd players have) will be fined for using a derogatory word against a fan. Great example of that state-sponsored eductaion.

For gtr fans to be here posting smack about the WOMAN'S tennis team is hilarious. Just goes to show how desperate your school is for attention, you know, being that for 85 years you've been known as Miami's stepchild.

You all are right, Miami will never compete head to head with the likes of UF or OSU for overall sports titles. Miami does have something like 65 national championships total in all of its sports history, so the bragging really is limited to what we fans only care about: THE 3 MAJOR SPORTS, FOOTBALL, BASKETBALL, AND BASEBALL. In that case, Miami was, is and will always be king of the state:

UM 9
UF 3
FSU 2

No comparison. Never will be.

And as far as academics are concerned, last time I checked, UM surpassed UF in national rankings last year for the first time. And yes, the academic requirements for athletes is higher for UM than UF. That is a fact.

And as far as comparing Miami versus Gainesville as a place to live, LOL. I mean LMFAO.
Of course, if your idea of a great town to live in, is exemplified by a preacher with a handle bar moustache who burned a bunch of Korans, then you go boy. Love yourself some pastures, some cow barns, and some barbecue pits. Because Traylorville is nothing like the real world, where it is still taboo, for you to marry your sister.

DMacUM09 You can't be that dumb? Do you think Gator fans don't follow pro sports? Gator fans that were born and or live in South Florida are Dolphin, Marlin, Heat and Panther fans, but guess what they are not Hurricane fans.

Gatorsam and linksys:

why is it that the biggest douche in the NBA is a Gatard? Coincidence? Don't think so. And Noah is along for the ride with the Bulls. You saw last night that with him in the main rotation, they puked on themselves because he is a joke.

As for Gainesville a dump; yes. I have been a few times, as well as to the other two ugliest college towns in America, Knoxville and Starkville. All three compete for "College Dump of America."

Clue to Gatard trash: Just because a town has a college in it does not make it a "nice college town." You think you are Ithaca or Princeton when you are actually a sewer.

P.S. The trailers don't help, neither do the ugly churches on every other corner.

We won't even get into Koran burning and ignorant 'necks aplenty.

Welcome to a big city, Gomer. Yes, there is crime. No surprise there, Gomer. Only here, it isn't the football players committing the felonies. For that, you have to stay in Trailerville.

Don't slip on that bloody credit card.

You forget that we invented the swagger and are know for our international fans. We pack our PROFESSIONAL stadium with 45k screaming cane fans that gives us home field advantage. You may have the SWAMP but when the Sun Life crowd gets going it is reminiscent of rustling leaves before a big category 5.

Go canes!

Yep, last time we saw the Swamp, the "loyal" 'necks were filing out of that dump after Miss. State (WHO?) was laying a Homecoming Game pounding on Gatard trash.

And they think that because Driskell will suit up as a freshman that somehow makes Gatard trash better?

Wow, there is no culture in Trailerville but there is plenty of delusion.

How can anyone live in Gainsville? Leave the Gator campus and a great Sat. night is grocery shopping at the Piggly Wiggly, catching a drive in movie then going to a snake infested lake to watch the fireflys.

Coming from UMike - the guy who regularly posts about fans speaking spanish at FIU!

You're just as uneducated and trashy as the lot up in Gainesville, get off your pedestal.

The funny thing is there are more people living in trailers in Miami than in Gainesville. But I guess when you don't leave mommy's basement in Coral Gables you don't know what's going on in the outside world.

MA MEATLOAF!!!!!!

Florida's athletic program again dominated the SEC All-Sports competition, sweeping all three categories.

The Gators won eight SEC titles, tying their own record of eight in 1991-92 and Georgia in 2005-06 for the most in conference history.

Florida has won the women's title 18 times and the men's 15 times...

UF finished with a final score of 10.03, a score derived by taking the finish of each sports team on a 12-11-10, etc. basis based on finish and dividing by the number of sports each school, participated in.

Georgia finished a distant second with an average of 8.69

In the men's competition, the Gator men finished with an average of 10.21. Georgia finished second. In the women's competition, Florida had an average of 9.89. Tennessee was second.

Florida is the only school in All-Sports history to have swept all three categories.

.

U aren't even close .

wow, look at the use of derogatory word by fans of a private school education....guess some of you people are also calling Mike Miller and U. D. ...the samething....sad!
I bet you one thing, if miami had won, it would have made the front page.

Mike Miller has been a useless loser all year. Goes with the territory of being a Gatard.

U.D. Likes the Canes more than he does UTrailer so he is great in my book.

Noah? What a fine specimen of Florida public education band that was before the budget cuts that have gutted the last shred if academic integrity UTrailer had.

The rankings can be what they may....we all know the only reason Miami passed UF in the rankings was that the UF endowment, which Miami will NEVER be able to touch, was down because of the financial meltdown, when it goes back up it'll be status quo.....hey kids at UF are just smarter, just check out average SAT scores and GPA.........secondly, Miami is a world-class city, and a third-rate sports town, when you can't even pack 30,000 for a season-ending....where have you gone Ken Dorsey? Your city turns its lonely eyes to you.....30,000 at Pro Player!!!!! Are you kidding me!! You guys are bush league....if we ever treated the Gators like that we'd be ashamed of ourselves, but U, U have have no shame, so do as U please!!!!! U suck!

because we have alternatives...

Because of the financial meltdown? Just wait until our governor hacks away at UTrailer's (I like that) budget. You'll get passed by Miami Central High in the academic rankings.

Now he has 13 offers, with Miami on top, followed by Washington State, as his top two. Other schools which have offered Thompson are UCF, FIU, East Carolina, Purdue, Indiana, Illinois, Marshall, Memphis, Mississippi, Temple and SMU.

.

Very impressive company U ClUcks keep in Ur aimless recruiting circles .

Hahahahahahahahahaha - what a f****t - you don't have anything better to do than to look up what offers UM recruits have???

And don't give me "there's nothing to do in gainesville" - go try talking to a woman computer nerd!

Holy christ, that gators fan was reading about UM on the Sun Sentinel too!!!! That's where the recruiting story came from!

What a loser!

Charlie Weiss' third stomach sez: burp that was delicious.

Idiot gatard fans. What part of the following don't you understand?

-9>3 in the 3 major sports
-Higher ranking by US News and World report?

But you do have us on,
-# of arrests
-# of burnt religious books
- Tooth: IQ ratio

You can go cheer your women's lacrosse team. Go on. shoo.

The turds won 2 in basektball so it's 5.

The Miami hated toward UF all stems from one thing jealousy. Those with college ability were rejected by UF so they cried to daddy please give me money for Miami. They hate that some or all of their friends got into UF and got to experience going away to school in a small college town like most kids dream of. A beautiful campus with historic ivy covered buildings, the ability to walk to football games with their fraternity brothers or sorority sisters and tailgate right on campus with an active nightlife literally right across the street from campus, a real college town which caters to the college student and they missed out on this and they feel ripped off. Be it Gainesville, Norman, Columbus, Baton Rogue, Knoxville, State College, or Ann Arbor that is what most people wanted their college life to be like. Hence the bitterness, resentment and hatred and name calling from the Miami people.

GatorSam, you typical Gatard douche,, hatred of UTrailer has to donwith the unfounded arrogance Gatard fans displayed over the years. Outside if the past 5 years (which are OVA), Miami has owned UTrailer athletically. However, to listen to Gatard fans, you'd think UTrailer had a proud football tradition rather than the actual failure and cowardice.

And your ignorance shines through in your list of college towns. Knoxville? A trailer-infested dump like Trailerville. Columbus? A big city (clearly you have never been). And do not insult Oxford or Ann Arbor by trying to place Trailerville in their category. I know Oxford and Ann Arbor and you, Trailerville, are no Oxford or Ann Arbor.

Arrogant and ignorant are not admirable qualities, Gatard fan, but you did spend 7 undergrad years at UTrailer so it is understandable.

Rejected by UF? UF is a safety school.

And UTrailer's inflated academic status, assuming the "Wall Street did it" mentality, is down to stay. We won't see real estate fueled artificial wealth creation again in our lifetime so that alleged "endowment", along with the past levels of state funding, "ain't walkin' throught that door."

Bright futures? Gutted

Professor tenure? Gutted.

Professor salaries? Gutted

But we have us a good football team. Yeah? Corinne Brown agrees.

gaturdsam- The hatred comes from UM fans commenting on our own blog here, licking our wounds after the 2005-2010 seasons, and then having bastrd turds coming on here to smack talk, despite the fact that we still own you pu55ies.

The hatred also comes from the notorious obnoxiousness that gatr fans exhibit in and out of the swamp. I for one, nearly b-slapped a drunk gatr rednk fan at the Peach Bowl in 2004 that was getting in my face and blurting obsenities in front of my wife and kids. Ask nole fans. They'll tell you that comapred to even the most obnoxious OB fans, the swamp is notorious for all of the garbage.

I spoke to former OC of Miami Dan Werner, and he told me that the swamp is a cess pool for visiting coaches. He would have batteries thrown at him, etc.

And the clincher has been the media (ESPN and others) coronation of Teblow as the "best college football player" of all time. Not only was his record as a starter NOT even compared to Ken Dorsey, who STARTED in 2 NCs and had 1 stolen by a referee, but his overall record, and home record is not even close. Tebow was indeed indefensible as a half back turned QB), but he is no where near being the best cfb of all time. And go to you tube- You never saw Ken Dorsey, Gino, Craig, Steve, or Bernie or Vinnie either be kissed by a fellow football player, or crying on the sidelines.

And still despite FACTS, lynksis and others come on here with crap statments.

canersrule21- Sorry my bad. 9>5 is correct

Posted by: My beloved U

Ken Dorsey was not as good as Tebow.

From the looks of it, Teblow was sucking more than just nuts.

Ooops, pounded again Gatard trash. It's comical. You doped get the punching bag treatment and come back for more. It's the UTrailer education at work.

Tebow is actually better then Ken Dorsey, Gino, Craig, Steve, Bernie and Vinnie but not as good as Jacory. Jacory will win the Heisman and dare I say first player picked in the draft next year after leading us to the National Championship? Golden is showering us with our 6th NC!

Go 'canes!

a trailerpark is missing it's Pig.

Blog Pig, go home.

"Ken Dorsey was not as good as Tebow"

Why because you and all of Gainesville says so?

tebow awas a better spreadoption QB. And a better runner. Not a better QB. Both had stud Olines. Both had stud TEs. Both had Stud receivers.

ken Dorsey- 36-2 as a starter. Started in two Ncs. One won. One was stolen. One undefeated season. Should have by all means won the heisman. One undefeated seaosn. never lost at home. NEVER.Never been kissed by a fellow player.

tebow- 35-6 as a starter. Played in 2 NCs once as a starter, once as a jump ball thrower. Never had an undefated season. never. Won one heisman. Lost to. ehem. Ole Miss at home. Kissed by a fellow gator player

Period end of story.

Why do we as proud Cane fans, with the rich history that is ours even respond to the Gaturd trash talk here or anywhere else. Those of you that do,and there are just a few and you know who you are, are just as ignorant as those FU idiots and expose not just your insecurities as Cane fans, but as individuals.

If there is no arguement to be had, why even bother ? Seriously, why ?

It would be nice, just once, to discuss the topic at hand rather than all the rehashed crap over and over again.

That said, good luck to the Canes Baseball team ! We have the pitching to finish very well. Lets shock'em and make it to Omaha. It can be done.

the least U know, the more Ur get dUmb

Let's carry this conversation over to the Golden Corral buffet line please

Tippers, the dumb 'necks boast about UTrailer winning the "No One Cares" Award while their academic standards (you know, the reason 99% of people attend college except for you Pig) crumble by the day.

Next round budget cuts will eliminate the trailer subsidy.

After all these years, the blog Pig still sucks. Ask his boyfriend.

Another National Championship for the University of Florida. Congratulations to our Women's Tennis Team.

congratulations, gaturd. But you havent won anything, because Nobody gives a dang about women's tennis unless itys Wimbledon, the US Open, French or Australian.

You may as well have won the intercollegiate tobacco spitting championship, which I am sure you all will fare quite well on. Nobody gives a crp.

ESPN has the "Capitol One" Cup- for colleges with the Number athletics- You havent won anything.

But UM is still,

Better academically
And 9>5.

Don't forget. 9>5. USe your stubby tobacco stained fingers to count. NINE GREATER than Five.

If Gainseville had a human face, it would be Jo-Douche Noah.

Ugly as sin.

Smells just as bad.

Ask any college football expert about the greatest college QBs of all time and Dorsey's name isn't mentioned. 7th round draft pick.

Another National Championship for the University of Florida. Congratulations to our Women's Tennis Team.

Women's Tennis, huh? I guess you'll take them any way you can get them, huh?

UF law and medical schools are ranked superior to Miami's. You got us now on the undergraduate program only because you were at the end of a massive capital fund raising campaign. Once that is no longer figured into the equation UF will move past Miami again in the undergraduate category also.
