Forston, Streeter sign with Rosenhaus, forego senior seasons

They came in together from Miami Northwestern High as part of the nation's No. 1 recruiting class in 2008 -- and now they'll be going out together too.

University of Miami juniors Tommy Streeter and Marcus Forston -- high school and college teammates of seniors Jacory Harris and Sean Spence -- will forgo their senior seasons to enter the NFL Draft according to UM. Both have signed with agent Drew Rosenhaus and will not return.

Streeter, 22, played in all 12 games this season and caught 46 passes for 811 yards and eight touchdowns. He was fifth in the Atlantic Coast Conference in total yardage and fifth with his average of 67.6 receiving yards per game. Streeter’s 17.6-yard average per catch led ACC receivers with at least 40 receptions.

Forston, considered one of the best defensive tackles in the country coming out of high school, was marred by injuries in his college career. He played and started in three games before suffering a season-ending knee injury this season. He registered five tackles and one tackle for loss. Forston also missed most of the 2009 season with a shoulder injury.

Streeter's absence will be a major loss for the Hurricanes, who also are losing second-leading receiver Travis Benjamin, a senior, as well as senior LaRon Byrd. Allen Hurns, an upcoming junior, and Phillip Dorsett, who will be a sophomore, will return as the only veteran wideouts. Hurns caught 31 passes for 415 yards and four touchdowns this past season.

Before 2011, Streeter had a total of five catches – four in 2009 and one in 2010 for his lone touchdown. But he thrived this season, his 6-5, 217-pound frame and 4.36-second speed (in the 40-yard dash) overwhelming most defenders.

Streeter and Forston are both on pace to receive their college degrees in May.

> Freshman guard Shane Larkin earned ACC Rookie of the Week honors after averaging 15.0 points, 2.0 assists and 2.0 rebounds in two games last week. Larkin, who played high school ball at Dr. Phillips in Orlando, was 6-of-7 from long range (85.7%), hitting 9-of-18 overall from the field, and a perfect 6-of-6 at the line overall.

So which is it white heron, you contradict yourself everytime you write. Others see it yet you remain like that river in Egypt.
One of these times you will mean what you write.

Ibis. UM's mascot is a white ibis.

I wonder how bad a bowl ban would really be?

Lane Kiffin has it good right now, a couple years with no pressure to build the team the way he wants it.

There must be some upper limit on bowl bans, I don't think I've ever heard of one longer than two years.

For you people saying streeter will go 4th or 5th round you are stupid and have no idea about football. 6'5 215 4.38 4th round? Lol maybe if your jim ireland.. Wait jim is that you?

Good 2 more ships available. Good luck STREETER but FORTSON YOU R GARBAGE.

RAY RAY you should leave too.

Google "santorum," "soldy," and "raw-pimple" and you get the same result. You may not agree with Streeter or Fortson's decision but it is their decision, lay off these kids and get a life, the season is over.... Go obsess over recruiting reports you bunch of losers

How about everyone stop bashing the players, their decision is made already. What does anyone gain from saying Fortson was a waste, as though the man aimed to get injured. Stop bad mouthing our own players. Wish them good luck and move on.

Same people will be kissing their butts, bragging to their friends about how they watched them play at UM if they go to the NFL and dominate.

What he said....

Good luck to the both of them!

I think the coaching staff wanted Tommy to stay....Forston not so much. I wouldn't be surprised if Golden told Forston "your not in our plans next year". Which make sense....he is graduating....always injured.

Streeter clearly has some upside in the league and someone may take him in the late 2nd round or in the 3rd. Not many 6' 5" 4.3 guys.

Never got a real feel about Forston. Obviously, he did very little at the U. I never saw any strength, push or speed. Don't know how much to attribute to injuries and how much to lack of development. Pretty easy to push around high schoolers when you weigh 300 pounds. Turns out to be harder in college and really tough at the next level. Might go in the last round, but could slip through.

I agree with lAW in that they get their degree in May so they did their job in the classroom if not on the field...Drew will get scouts to see them and will bring up players like Jimmy Graham and Sam Shields and get them drafted but they could both have used more football to get drafted higher..Its their lives and good luck to them

He’s looking for something.) Uh, good afternoon, Your, uh Highness, I’m Lester, your wife’s new attorney, here to discuss the um terms of your annual divorce. Let’s see… “After spending half the year with you in Deadland and consequently bringing Winter and Fall to Earth, we confirm that Queen Persephone has fulfilled her obligation to you and may now return to Earth, returning Spring and Summer once again.” Your signature, um, here. Here. And… here.

Whatever 3rd rate college you flunked out of is better rid of you.
Why do you waste your tremendous skill set on our humble 6-6 Forum?

Surely, the University of Florida would welcome you, and would hang on your every word.
What a loser you are, another nobody POS wasting cyber-space.

Very, Very good U self-proclaimed I am a writer of all ...

why ? because 50/50 can be 49/51

write on U clUck

Ahhhhhhhh Cane Fan ... Relax, Spring is just around the corner in 4 months and U have plenty to look forward to as U have another off season to get bigger, stronger and mo smarter to "Get Back" to Conference and National Championships !!!

Until then, U can look forward to NO Bowl game, Shalalala announcing that she will be Ur Prez through 2020 ... Average upper classmen bolting and declaring to be eventual 5th-7th. rounders and free agent NFL practice squad members ... Al-B-Gone continUing to neither confirm or deny that he actually signed an extension ... Below average Commits decommiting by the handfulls come January ... And the ever looming NCAA time bomb that is ticking that will ban U from anymore (December) Bowls, Conference title shots and 5-8 schollies a year over 4 years that will set U back to the 1970's in terms of real relevance in even the average #25-#50 ranked College Football landscape...

So cheer up and enjoy the moment of 6-6, 22-29 verses relevant compition the last 6 years, the Northwestern #1 posse player toilet flush, Al continuing to string U along and the vision of a post 2020 CANE THANG resergence !!!

oh, and U always have Cane hoops with 7k empty seats and Morris' come along for the average ride Pingers to look forward to as well ...

time check Cane clUcks ... it's 0300

what does a recruit who is considering da U think when they read the stuff these so called fans are saying about their own players. you guys arent true fans if you cant wish these young men the best, some of you fans were critical of guys like colin mccarthy and others last year and now few mlb have been playing as well as the titans rookie the last 3wks. they are one of ours no matter what. best of luck guys

This is what Miami has doen in the last 5 yrs. They have good and mediocre players or players with talent who never lived up to their hype, turn pro and then do well in the NFL. THAT proves what everyone including me has been saying about these recruits- esp those from Miami NW- Overhyped, lazy entitled,

Streeter never did anything at Miami. Is he like Oklahoma States Blackmon? Thats a man. Streeter is all hype. 870 yds receiving? 6-6 team? Please. Forstn-Dont get me started on Forston. Forston had 2 good games in his UM career so far: vs UF and vs Notre Dame. Both losses. Never dominant. An Ndamokong Suh he will NEVER be.

Both Busts at the U. Even Spence was a bust.

UM coaches should never throw their eggs in one basket when recruiting high schools.

But Goldie has 28 recruits committed so far and counting. With Streeter gone I see more Wrs like that kid from Miramar or Homestead wanting to keep their verbals.

Rawpimple asks his Daddy why he wears a dress. He responds that his son is a douchebag.

Another 3am attack by the racist troll. i guess he has trouble sleeping while he has visions of Muschamp and Weiss sitting on him, again.

You are the reason the Gator blog has no comments in it since mid November. instead of discussing the Gator Nation (which disappeared after the first loss, as usual), you are here day and night worrying about how the Canes will end up with a better record than your Gators. I thought you were gonna go undefeated, according to your "Muschamp is an upgrade over Meyer" logic.

OSU apparently disagreed, and they would rather have a burned out Meyer over a career flop like Muschamp or Weiss.

Good luck to both you guys! Can't wait to see you on Sundays!! Go CANES!

Tommy, smart kid he is
Good luck in the NFL, you should do well
Golden Boy tried hard to confuse you but you made the right call
Forston?............who cares
So with your best 2 WR gone now you will be a force
DelUsional I hear
The spring will soon be here
Best time to be a cane
"We'll be back" you can proclaim
Until the fall, when the games begin
And the losing ways return
You will cry once more
"Let's wait til next year"

Forston must not think he can beat out Mount Darius next year. P.S. Marcus, it ain't easier in ther NFL, even if you get a sniff.

10 years if Mediocrity, you are a weirdo dude, lol. Must really suk to be u. Also must really suk to be a Gator fan, lol.

I just read that 10 years of Mediocrity got a call from the Gators...they wanted.. the trailer, the computer, and the Moose head back since he keeps showing up on the 'Canes blog.
Nothing like a grounded gator...Shame, shame.

Go 'Canes...

Typical Wife-beater wearin necks from trailerville. You are truly laughable. You guys sucked this year with all those "top ranked" recruiting classes. Even Urban "I luv my Timmy" Meyer saw the writing on the wall and left because he wanted to "spend more time with his family" (he punked gatornation)

Clean up that disgusting swamp. You can start with buck tooth foley and less cheeseburgers for Weis.

Arrests this year = 7
Wins this year = 6

Go Gators!

All the best to both of them in their future endeavors. I am extremely happy that these gentlemen are on track to graduate and it will be a formality in their receiving their degrees if they are drafted in April.I am not going to bash them, but this is truly constructive criticism from watching these guys from afar.

Streeter has great hands and speed, but could you more seasoning in his route running and get more strength. He does not run sharp/clean routes He's got a good frame, but needs to add more muscle and strength due to the physical style of the NFL. He may have a hard time getting off of the initial jam at the line of scrimmage unless he gets stronger.

Forston is probably leaving because he is injury prone and wants to make some money before injuries add up on his body and cut his football carrer short. Like Streeter, Forston is not strong enough to be a dominant D-Tackle in the NFL. He has to get much stronger at the the point of attack and stop the run better. He also has got to provide some push and collapse the pocket at the DT position in passing situations. A good DT in the NFL playing in the 4-3 scheme should have about 7-10 sacks and numerous pressures. Forston is not that type of player yet. He also has to be tougher. I think he folds under pressure or when things get tough. I have never seen him bring heat on the QB (much less make a sack) or stop a back behind the line of scrimmage or even at the line of scrimmage in any late or critical point of a game (late 2nd quarter or 4th quarter.

Again, there are no sour grape with me and the player from Northwestern. I hope that we can get more players from Northwestern in the future, the school has a good football program. I just believe that Streeter and Forston could have raised their draft stock with being in school one more season and honing their craft a little more.

There's no reason why Streeter couldn't have waited for his NFL evaluation before signing with an agent. I don't think he really knows yet how high he'll be drafted. I'm sure Golden tried to get him to understand that. What's the hurry? There is plenty of time to declare. I hope it works out for him, but who knows how much $$ this may cost him. As for Forston, who knows what he's thinking.

Saw the writing on the wall. Major sanctions, loss of scholarships, bowl ineligibility for years to come, head coach out the door, no home field, yeah it 'was' great to be a 'cane....20 years ago.

What happaned to all those 5* recruits for the Turds? 6-6?? Wow....thank God Timmy is actually doing well for the Broncos....at least they have something to look forward to thats good...for now.

Cane4Life a very good post..

I would add that if Forston could not stay healthy and play lights out in College how could he even CONSIDER the NFL..

My take is that Drew Rosenhouse wants the biggest roster of Canes that he can muster...
If you throw enough Canes out there then someone will notice.

I also believe, and agree, that Streeter although improved this year needed more seasoning to accomplish the 1 st round guarantee. I am sure Coach G told him this.

Money can be weird...when you don't have it you can't get enough, but when you do hit the jackpot, you get rid of it so quickly you wonder where it went..$'s talk.

Hey we enjoyed these guys they are part of the family of Canes, and we wish them the best..
Once a Cane always a Cane.
Go "Canes.

I wish these guys good luck and I am glad they are finishing their degrees.

That said, with the exception of Spence, the MNW group has been an ego-inflated NFL first, me first group from the beginning that failed to deliver. Good riddance. Let a new day begin for the Canes!

Streeter could have been a 1st rounder next year. He should have stayed another year but his leaving just opens up another scholarship to be offered! To bad the "TROLL" (aka DONNA SHALAYA won't leave)

the nfl always have a demand for def tackles and this years class is not deep with 1st rnd talent. no suh or dareus type in this class same thing at safety i think only barron from bama has 1st rnd grade,so i think forston looked at that. the only thing maybe he should have waited a lil longer to see which juniors are declaring

That LIBERAL west coast Times has reported, that The Golden One has said ' thanks, but no thanks, ' regarding the U.C.L.A. opening.

By the way, the M.H. is so SLOW in it's coverage of Cane sports, that the LA TIMES gets to the point faster than a NY minute. Just like the PREMIUER newsprint in the world. That be the New York Times. My kind of paper. Eh.

Yeah, yeah only expresso slurping, tree hugging, commie PINKO, effete long haired hippies peruse the Times. So bloody What!

Forston was a bloody bUst while donning the Hurricane uni. So it's MUCH ADO BOUT' NOTHING concerning his departure from Miami. Eh.

In other words, Marcus ain't no NASTY SOUIX red indian... err that be nasty warrior Suh. If U know what I mean.

don't waste your time with this multiple personality "white ibis" douche. Each one of his personalities contradicts the next one. It's inevitable. He loves to read what others have written and trash on them but he never makes his point clear and then gets busted left and right by those who actually know what they're talkin about and are actual fans and love the U. I'm telling you this guy probably jerks off to tim tebow while shalalala watches and waits her turn. Pathetic.

These guys wanna go, best of luck to them. Makes more room for incoming recruits who can contribute right away. LETS GO CANES!!!

Is there anymore information about new uniforms???? Please, pretty please, I hope that they go back to the 80's/early 90's stripes and block #'s!!

I've said it before, lets start the petition. Good Bye shalalalalala. Hobbits are not welcomed. There's plenty of people in here that would sign it.

Anyone that would like to sign a petition to have donna "the hobbit" shalalalala a.k.a. white ibis's master, removed from her position say so..

Lets get this ball rolling.

Just a petition to go along with the NCAA academic requirements for athletes would be fine with me.

That might raise the eyebrow (lord she got em)!
who knows with a little reassurance from Al that he isnt recruiting dummies, and only hard workers at the academic level they personaly can achieve.

Might work.

You two are adorable, I feel like cupid, bringing two functional retards together in a Quixotic mission to "bust" me contradicting myself.

Just saw that Tommy Streeter's announcement is on the front page of Rotoworld (a fantasy football website).

Obviously those who are interested in the NFL have already taken notice.

Neither Forston, Miller, nor Streeter are NFL ready. Maybe Streeter. IMO.

But that's OK, Forston leaving is addition through SUBTRACTION. Get rid of this dead weight (no disrespect to Marcus)- I mean all of the dead weight that has been in Coral gables since 2007. Time to start anew. New QB, new line, new wrs.

Still haven't seen a public apology from susan to Micanor Regis for tweeting that he was a "PIG"

The elite media can do what they want, whether it is out of bounds or not. Susan your lack of an apology to Mr. Regis is apalling and says far more about your lack of character than anything he did on the field.

Do I need to post Susan's apology again for you AnonymousCane or would you just keep ignoring it?

You know, every kid who plays football has the dream of playing in the NFL. That is our world. For me, I wish the NFL could not draft a kid until he has finished his senior year. I like college ball way more. But, there's the money, the money, the agents, restraint of trade cases, Lawyers, blah-blah, etc.

I hope the U, even with its great record of sending players to the NF, recruits a kid who wants to play college ball, loves his university, wears the U proudly, admires his coaches and whose heart is with his TEAM. These kids are likely to stay because of their loyalty and commitment. Note the case of QB Andrew Luck and others.

I hope we find kids that are fiercely loyal to UM and who want to complete their commitments. The probabilities are lower now, but those kids are still out there. For now, the Canes are getting rid of NFL me-me ego types, and this will shake out with time as the power of TEAM emerges.

And by the way, Coach Golden, Miami is a way cooler place than LA! If what the LA Times is reporting is correct, then that is great news for UM fans. LA is bad for the bronchii!

God is Great

So is McGahee

dbc - imagine how great UM could have been if it hadn't wasted its time with the NFL me-me ego types who wanted to leave early, you know, like Ray Lewis, Michael Irvin, Clinton Portis, Frank Gore, Edge James, Willis McGahee, Andre Johnson, Devin Hester, Warren Sapp, Sean Taylor, Vince Wilfork, Kellen Winslow...

I could keep going but you get the idea - great players usually don't stay in college 4 years.

Remember everyone hated Hester for leaving too - "why wouldn't he come back and be a feature receiver???" "selfish!" "good riddance!".

I just hope Al Golden replaces Streeter with another NFL me-me ego type because those are the ones who can win games.

Not to say it isn't nice that Spencer Whipple remained fiercely loyal all these years.

White heron you contradict yourself daily. Still can't get around you saying a college degree from the U was useless. Keep it up.

Yeah but thats when Miami was winning ships or at least coming close. Hester was no good as d-back and would not have been good at wr. He was what he was. A feared playmaking machine. He did his thing at the U, moved on.
