Former Canes assistant Don Soldinger plans to keep new recruit Jamal Carter in line at Southridge

Even at 67 years of age, Don Soldinger still has plenty of bite in his bark.

Photo
Southridge safety Jamal Carter shortly before making his announcement Thursday to commit to UM.

The former University of Miami assistant -- who helped mold some of the best running backs to ever wear a Hurricanes uniform and has two national championship rings -- was drawing up plays inside the Southridge High locker room Thursday afternoon when he was stopped and asked to give his thoughts on the Canes' latest Class of 2013 commitment: senior safety Jamal Carter.

"Who? The kid who [is built] like Tarzan and hasn't done anything yet?" Soldinger responded in a room filled with Carter's teammates. "What about Jamal Carter? What's he done? Third team All-Dade? That don't mean [expletive] to me."

Soldinger, as fiery and honest an assistant coach the Hurricanes have ever had (he was there from 1984-88, 1995-2005), has never been one to hand out compliments easy. He's been around the block too long. If you want to be praised, you have to earn it.

And as the new strength coach at Southridge High -- a program under the direction of his former USA Today National Defensive Player of the Year Lamont Green (1993) -- Soldinger has taken a special interest in Carter, the Spartans' best player.

"I'm not going to let him get away with thinking he's better than he is," Soldinger said. "Because he can be pretty special if me and Lamont can kick his [expletive] into shape."

Carter, rated the 16th best safety in the country by 247Sports, "isn't a bad kid" if you ask Soldinger or Green. He's got a 2.6 GPA and scored an 18 on his ACT -- good enough to get him into UM when he signs in February according to Green. But while Green says Carter (6-2 3/4 inches, 215 pounds, 4.4-speed in 40) "has a little bit of Sean Taylor type playmaking ability," he also says the 17-year old senior-to-be has room to grow when it comes to maturity.

"I think what happened before we got here was he had the freedom to show up a little late to meetings, practices and didn't have to pay the consequences," Green said. "You know Coach [Soldinger]. If the meeting is at 2:30, he wants you here at 2:20 ready to go. Jamal is getting better at it. He and the rest of the guys here are learning we run a tight ship."

Soldinger said he brought in former Canes running back Clinton Portis to speak to the team earlier this month. Carter, he said, was the only player to miss the meeting.

"Pissed me off," Soldinger said. "I really wanted Portis to talk to him, help get his butt in gear."

Soldinger has extra incentive to make sure Carter gets his butt in gear. Carter's father Terrence Carter was a star cornerback on Soldinger's 1991 state title team at Southridge.

"He signed with Maryland. Three days later he was back home," Soldinger said. "I hate to see talent wasted."

If Soldinger has a say about it, this Carter won't fall short.

Soldinger said he's already been on the phone a few times over the past year with offensive line coach and close friend Art Kehoe to give the Canes updates on Carter.

"You know me, I don't sugar coat anything," Soldinger said. "If he's screwing up, they'll know about it."

> Green said Carter recently power cleaned 270 pounds and squated 515 pounds.

"I think he's a natural safety. But he has the ability to play corner, safety, move into the box and play nickel linebacker too," Green said. "The sky is the limit for him. He can play offense, too. There's a lot of things his skill level allows him to do."

Last season, Carter returned seven punts for touchdowns. He said special teams is a big part of his game.

"I grew up admiring Devin Hester because he always took all the punt returns back," Carter said before unleashing a little Canes' swagger. "You saw my highlight reel right?"

One thing the Hurricanes have done since National Signing Day in February shut the door on some of the best defensive backs in the country who are in their backyard. If you close your eyes you can almost picture a South Florida dream team in the Canes' secondary: Northwestern's Artie Burns and Miramar's Tracy Howard at cornerback and Columbus High's Deon Bush and Carter at safety.

Carter said building chemistry with those guys won't be hard.

"I grew up playing with Deon on the Palmetto Raiders," Carter said. "I've known him since I was a little boy. He was a running back and I was a cornerback. I can't wait until we can be teammates again next year."

"We chant "SEC" after a win you dUmmies. You do that because you
know you win in the best conference in the wold."

Errrr, Gomer. Gatr Trash really doesn't win in the SEC or haven't you checked your record. Outside of scraping past a horribly depleted Tennessee team, and the dregs of the SEC LEast, you gots nothing.

So, yeah, the other side of the argument is valid: You chant 'SEC' because your bloated team under-performs and sucks.

"This current team is full of promising players."

BWAHAHAHHAHAHAH. Does an idiot Gatr maggot know when he is delusional?

Oh, right, the reason the Gatr Trash sucked last year was because Brantley got hurt. I guess before that, he showed that he was excellent and would have led you to a 12-0 record and you would have pounded LSU and Bama.

Wow. Horrible academics and now delusion in the Trailerpark. No wonder you are considered the most disgusting fan base in the SEC.

Stop talking about the Florida Gators loser.

Not our rival- stop being a fence straddler. Stand for something. None of us or very few of us start a blog by ragging on the turds. An article pops up, an announcement is made (in this case regarding jamal), and the blog trolls from Alachua correctional institute (and that may include recent member of the sodomized in jail club never sh8tiro)begin their trolloing. Many of us canthelp but respond. But please dont lecture. Your boring me. Florida is our rival. Goes back to 1937 or so. We hate them, we own them, they hate us, theyre jealous of us.

Keep up the hard work with Coach Soldy and you'll be in good shape to be a major contributor towards the Golden era!

Welcome aboard!

Anyone see Jamal today ? He didn't show for our 7am workout session. Tell him Soldy said Holla ...

How would you know, Dick? You just got up from your normal sleep time. That graveyard shift is a bear, ain't it Dick? Must suck to be a bitter sow.

UF lands 19th football commitment

Before Friday Night Lights could even begin, Florida got good news on the recruiting front.

The Gators landed coveted ESPN 4-Star defensive end Antonio Riles (Lawrenceville, Ga./Archer), who committed to UF coach Will Muschamp by phone.

The 6-foot-4, 267-pounder camped at UF in June and visited Gainesville three times this year. He chose the Gators over offers from Alabama, Clemson, Georgia and South Carolina, among others.

.

Maybe U can get some of Ur non Corner skilled Safties to play in that depth deficient and devoid of monster talent D-Line of Urs...

THE SEC... Where REAL D-Line STUDS go to Play.

pseudologic:

I take a decisive stand. Against internet nerds who ruin a sports blog and make a school look bad by engaging in a fake internet rivalry that has nothing to do with football.

FSU is our rival. We play FSU next year, it's homecoming. We play FSU every year. We don't play UF next year. We don't play UF every year.

Yet you hear nothing about our rival FSU and everything about UF on this blog. Because there is no FSU blog in the Miami Herald and so UM internet nerds and FSU internet nerds don't get into it.

There hasn't been a UF blog on the Miami Herald for months, but internet nerds don't need constant prompting to talk to other internet nerds. They frankly don't have much else to do with their time.

So I do take a stand - against the single obsessive UF troll, against 5>3>2, and corpus, and pseudologic, and all the other internet nerds who have ruined this blog for college football fans.

"Florida is our rival. Goes back to 1937 or so. We hate them, we own them, they hate us, theyre jealous of us."

Another prime example of a delUsional and Moronic cane "fan". More like dUmblogic or pseudointellect.
We don't hate you, we pity you.
You don't own us, we beat you last time we played and we have done much much better than you in the past decade overall.
Who's jealous, and who's afraid of a very mediocre ACC team whose best offensive weapon is a punter and who has no QB.

"Horrible academics and now delusion in the Trailerpark. No wonder you are considered the most disgusting fan base in the SEC"

Stop looking in the mirror and projecting. You are the embodiment of delUsion, and the epitome of disgusting. You were voted so nationally. Fan base you aint got. SEC you wish you could play there. Maybe not, you can't even compete in the weak ACC.
Trailerparks you got more. Horrible academics, you get what you pay for at MDCC don't complain.
Which defense was ranked higher at the end of last season? The Gator D. Most of those players are coming back into their junior year. You must depend on these touted freshmen to step up to have a prayer. Which you don't.

ACC, ACC, ACC................What a Moron!

Or maybe not corpus, I scan through this blog trying to find posts about college football, not sure if corpus is one of the gators-obsessed nerds or not. Apologies, let's just go with 5>3>2.

Not our rival, I appreciate your efforts, and have joined you many times. However, I beleive his point is that you ONLY comment about that. Perhaps you have made other comments, but I don't recall them. Try these on for size. My answer follows each question.

How do you feel about how Golden is grabbing recruits in the face of Yahoo's attacks?
-- I think it is awesome.

How do you feel about how FSU is scheduled as our homecoming game, which is usually an insult to the visiting team?
-- I think it is a bad move. That boat sinks every year because we go against Duke or a AA team, not against higher ranked competition.

How do you feel about the Cane's chances in general?
-- I think we will go 8-4, but that we will impose another bowl ban.

"There hasn't been a UF blog on the Miami Herald for months"

You be correct Einstein. When it did exist it was populated by a few cane trolls and one obsessed cane pig with multiple names in particular. Now we come here cause we got no where else to go.
If and when the Gator blog returns I would venture there would be less Gators here and more cane trolls there.
It is what it is, live with it.

Obsessed Gator Troll Logic "You don't own us, we beat you last time we played"

Sooo, you are owned by Ole Miss, Alabama, LSU, Auburn, Georgia, South Carolina, Mississippi State, and Florida State all own the Gators since they have won the last game you played against them, just in the past four years?

Funny how you can go 1-6 against a team, over a 20 year period, and still try to claim you own them.

One and Six. Even after you cowards ducked the series and faced us in BOWL GAMES we would beat you down. Yet you claim to own us based on the result of ONE GAME?

No wonder you have no life outside of this blog, you have nobody that can understand your twisted logic.

So, get lost and try to find someone that will agree with you. You found one? Odds are they are in a Gainesville trailer park, working at the local Waffle House, and are wearing a faded Tim Tebow 15 shirt with jorts. Oh wait, that is just you in the mirror. Go find a REAL person instead, troll.

That Gator troll piece of sh*t is right though and I have no more love for the internet nerd who claim to like UM football than the internet nerds who claim to love UF football.

Because of all of them it is impossible to talk about University of Miami football on this blog. Impossible. I wouldn't waste my time trying. What I would like is to shame that gators troll into stopping posting for the rest of the day so that I only have to skim through a few posts instead of a few pages of posts for the handful of thoughts on whatever UM football topic it is.

I don't think Golden is recruiting Penn State because he's in no position to make promises. He said as much on media day, maybe a tight end or backup o-lineman will decide to come over.

Most people go to sporting events to feel that electric atmosphere, even if for only a half, or a quarter, or even the introduction. FSU for homecoming is awesome, great call by Golden, crowds suck for sh*tty ACC teams and we're going to kick FSU's ass. Or lose in a thriller. Or get blown out but face it we could just as easily lose to UNC on "Hispanic Heritage Day". UM can't promise blowout victories anymore. Can't even promise decent football atmosphere outside FSU, truth be told.

No idea about the record but the Canes will be a fun team to watch, plenty of talent on defense, hampered by young receivers and an inconsistent first year quarterback. Because of Morris they'll win and lose a game or two they shouldn't have. LOVE the schedule, BC away september 1st, @ Kansas State, maybe getting a respectable OOC loss out of the way early, Notre Dame at Soldier Field in early October, UNC, FSU, Va Tech at home in a row, couldn't have been drawn up better.

You're right they should turn down the bowl, this time before they know it'll be a sh*tty one, they already know the NCAA won't be done by the end of the season.

Why do you guys even engage him? Ignore this dude and he might kill himself.

Wow I set the trap and viola. I got that piggy to keep posting bs after bs. Do you really think that the gators are that much better. Than you sir are more delUsional than the clUcks. How many 5 stars does it take to go 7-6? Since we have no talent and are coaching staff sucks so bad as well as our confrence weight room stadium fans etc etc we have a reason to be 6-6. whats the gators reason for going 7-6 since you have the best coach most talent best facilties fans etc etc. Loser

The rich get richer???
Ha!, didn't the gator go 6-6 last year??

A dude from a .500 team talking all that smack??

What am I missing??

The obsession continues!

GO CANES!!!

Saw at least 75 people throwing up a U at the Olympics. Like Pitbull, we worldwide!!!!!!! NC CHAMPS 2012!!!!

A 6-6 season with a top twenty SOS vs the canes lousy season with an easy SOS. That's something to waste key strokes on mr poopy pants!

^^^^^^^^

It would still be all relative maggot.

Posted by: Not our rival |

1 - You were right, corpus is a doUche, no apology needed.
2 - UM crowds suck for every home game except when the Noles or Gators come over. Problem is, for you, that the crowds for those games are mainly Garnet and Gold or Orange and Blue.

Posted by: NJshoreCane

Gators went 7 - 6 with a team made up of mostly freshmen and sophs and playing a top 20 SOS.
You are the .500 team, loaded with seniors and juniors and playing a soft SOS.

"Anyone see Jamal today ? He didn't show for our 7am workout session. Tell him Soldy said Holla ..."

Good one

I agree with Not Our Rival in that it's great to play FSU for homecoming. The stadium will be sold out, great atmosphere! Except for that awful chant in the background. However we will definitely beat the Noles, or they will beat us. No matter our All ACC punter will make them work hard and pin them down time after time. Now if we can only find some kind of defense to slow them down.........No matter when we get the ball back we have 3 chances to get out awesome punter in good field position to pin them down again.
Fear the punt!!!!!!!

Friday Night Lights produced another star-studded turnout in The Swamp.

And before the event even began, Florida got good news on the recruiting front.

The Gators landed coveted ESPN 4-Star defensive end Antonio Riles (Lawrenceville, Ga./Archer). Riles, the 6-foot-4, 267-pounder camped at UF in June and visited three times this year. He chose the Gators over offers from Alabama, Clemson, Georgia and South Carolina, among others.

Riles, unfortunately, committed to UF coach Will Muschamp by phone because his ride to FNL fell through.

.

To bad Michael Barrow's not a Gator recruiter assistant Coach... He coulda called one of his pimp boyz to give the kid an illegal lift...

Orlando Dr. Phillips safety Marcell Harris, Jacksonville Sandalwood defensive lineman DeMarcus Walker and Tampa Hillsborough defensive end Jordan Sherit were the top 2013 targets in attendance. The talented trio did not work out with 200-plus participants and spent the majority of the night with Florida's commits and coaches. They plan on making their decisions before summer's end, and UF is the front-runner for all three.

THE SEC... Where D-Line Studs come to play...

Not our rival- You have all the gator doooshes agreeing with you and your fence straddlingf Devil's advocate position. You are a doosh, mister. And I for one, guarantee thatI have followed the U and supported them likely since you and the gator pi55ants that troll here were still getting their little booties wiped by your mommas. I have donated $$$$ to the U and I dont need no p-o-s to tell me what I post as my response to these gatr supporting fa88ots that come on here touting that "they own" us because they beat the U once since 1983 and, two keep lambasting Golden's awesome recruiting and Miami's troubles.

One jerk responded, that the gator trolls are here because the previous UF site had cane fans trolling there. WOw that's mature. But you never responded topseudologic's assertion that we never start a stream or blog by smaking on the gators. They come on here with the same bs that is so pathetic and boring that it makes absolutely no sense that they have that muc time on their hands. Maybe the sole movie theater in Alachua county is sold out or something

The other idiots touting friday night lights like itys something huge. Come on ,. Please.

The U is the place to be:

Better university
Better city (Gainesville is not a city its sht town)
Better history
Better record winning the national championship
More players in the NFL
More players in the probowl
More head to head victories
UM didnt struggle against Furman

Why woudl a highschooler even consider UF?

Dunno, got to ask the kids in their #5 ranked class.

Last 8 years...

Canes 54-41 Record -No Conference or National 'Ships- NO Bowl Wins...

GATORS 84-26 Record - 3 SEC n 2 NATIONAL 'Ships- Multiple Jan. Bowl Wins...

Why woudl a highschooler even consider dUh U?

I'm not sitting on any fences, I'm a huge UM football fan and I hate internet nerds like yourself and all the other pathetic losers who destroy this blog talking about an internet rivalry that has nothing to do with football.

Whether or not you internet nerds pretend to care about UF football or UM football is irrelevant, you all make this cess pool of a blog impossible to talk about UM football on.

GAtors 40 arrests.
Gators 5 star QB- ends 6-6 reg season
Gators top 5 class 2008, 2009, 2010,2011
Passed over by UM academically
ENd result: You still suck

Not our rival. What is an internet nerd? Someone that responds to otheres criticisms and comments? Thank you You just described yourself a55hole

Can't t alk UM football on this blog without the gayutr dooshes weigning in nonsense. And you are agreeing witrh them. Your a pu55y gaytr just like them

Yo 5>3>2, but none in a decade

Yo doUchebag, the Gators that post here make tons of sense Ur just too dense to understand.

"Last 8 years...

Canes 54-41 Record -No Conference or National 'Ships- NO Bowl Wins...

GATORS 84-26 Record - 3 SEC n 2 NATIONAL 'Ships- Multiple Jan. Bowl Wins..."

Those stats bear repeating, those numbers don't lie.
U r the Moron who asked why would a high school senior consider UF, take that scUmbag.
Plus only the top high schoolers need apply, as only the cream of the crop can get in to The Flagship University in the Great State of Florida.

Yo let me translate in a manner a simpleton like U can understand.
U r a bunch of loosers. U play in a wimpy conference, where U struggle to remain at .500.
U can't make it to the championship game, ever.
U barely make it to some post Thanksgiving crappy bowl game where U proceed to fold, bend over and get creamed.
Understand now U maggot?
Does it begin to make sense to Ur tiny brain?

Bunch of pathetic LOOSERS!!

all the same non-football drivel over there too. same guy going on and on about nothing.

" Fear the punter!"

Classic. Must be one of those cane thangs.

Agreeing with them that you're a loser, that's for sure. Also agreeing with you that they're slightly bigger losers, being internet nerds that troll a blog other than their own "team".

Here are the facts:

FSU is UM's rival. FSU is UF's rival. FSU is the top dog in Florida, they beat UM and UF at football and at recruiting last season.

There are zero comments about FSU on this blog. Zero. None. No one talks about FSU.

There are between 5 and 10 UM and UF "fans" who post obsessively on this blog about a supposed "rivalry" somewhere between two and three pages worth of the same nonsense repackaged over and over again per blog entry.

The single, undeniable reason that there are UF "fans" and no FSU "fans" on this blog is that they also have a blog on the same website.

Ipso facto: your "rivalry" that you will continue to waste your time on all of 2012 despite the fact we play FSU AT HOMECOMING and play UF NOT AT ALL is 100% to do with internet nerds waving their pricks at each other from behind computer screens.

You suck at life. The Gators trolls suck at life. I only wish there was a place on the Miami Herald's website to talk about UM football with other UM football fans.

I like UM football, I like to talk to other UM fans about UM football. I call you all out in the hopes that someday you'll realize how pathetic and embarrassing you are. I accept all accusations of "trolling", that is exactly what I'm doing.

throwing up the U at the Olympics is.....fine....but who is bringing home the gold for USA?

Florida's recruiting momentum kept rolling Saturday when UF coach Will Muschamp gained a verbal commitment for the third consecutive day, this one from four-star defensive end Jordan Sherit (Tampa/Hillsborough).

The 6-foot-5, 255-pounder visited Gainesville on Thursday with five-star cornerback Vernon Hargreaves III — his close friend who pledged to the Gators during their trip — and then returned the following day for Friday Night Lights.

Sherit chose the Gators over Notre Dame, Oklahoma and Stanford. Sherit was sold on Florida's honors program, closeness to home and “true college environment.”

U gotz D-Linemen ?

Not our rival- Youdont know sheet. Usingterms like ipso facto doesnt make you sound intelligent you loser.

NOT onee ral UM fan would not consider UF a rival. It doesnt matter if Um hasnt played them in 5 years you stupid dweeb, they are still our rival! Pick up an eefen book someday you moron! UF and UM have been rivals since that first game in 1938, when upstart UM took the train in their 11th year of existence and played UF AND BEAT THEM 19-7. Florida was in their 22nd year of football existence, and were hiumiliated by this loss.

Its been a common theme since 1938. UM and UF have hated each other. UM has won more times head to head and in fact the tally is 28-26. 54 times they have played in football. And UF has beaten MIami ONCE inthelast 5 meetings. And your UF buddies come on here (needlessly) to brag on the U. And you defend them like the weak spineless jelly fish that you are. We UMfans come on here to clebrate Jamla Carter's commitment, and they come on here with their senseless boring cacophonous rants and endless streams of superfluous dribble. Like all of their top recruiting has done them any good.

Newsflash gaytors: You are Alabamas and LSU's beetches. Throw in FSU and you have 3 automatic losses on your schedule. But since your mightygators alos throw in UK, Vandy, Tennesee, Furman, occasionally Citadel, and or FU, you are automatically guaranteed a winning season. (Not so automatic after 3 quarters last season against Furman eh?). And I mean what I said about UF. Only reasonits so hard to get in is the zillion applications this state school diploma mill gets- in this economy, in state tuition is a no brainer. But UF is good at some things- they recently acquired their own strain of Chlamydia on campus. And they are next door to two state penitenciaries in case their arrest record streak continues...

Posted by: 5>3>2

Why all the anger cane Moron? Did you receive your top notch education at UM? Me thinks not. You express yourself like the typical cane "fan". Barely a high school education, never set foot in Coral Gables, became a "fan" in the 80s when the thugs were actually winning and now are stuck living in the past.
FYI there are many many State schools and many more community colleges around for doUches like you who have no credentials, grades, or high scores to get an in state tuition. You should try one of those. At least get a GED.

5>3>2, no, on the football field Florida State is our rival NOT UF.

Only on this website is UF our rival and Florida State giving UF an "automatic loss" something to a UM "fan" would use to make fun of UF's "fans".

Defend Gators fans? I don't see any Gators fans around here. Someone who cared about the Gators football wouldn't be trolling the University of Miami blog in the Miami Herald. You and they aren't college football fans, you're fans of a pathetic internet rivalry that has nothing to do with football.

Man what a great weekend. Went down to the coast for a couple of days. Boating, fishing, and just enjoying life.
Get home. Come on line to check to see if anything is new with my Canes. Same stuff here. Decide to try some other sites. Sun-Sentinel some new stuff, but after a couple articles they lock you out.
Go to Palm Beach Post. Read some more new stuff. Decided to check out the comments, and low and behold. There is Dick posting all over the place the same old crap.
Dick you sir are amazing. That life of yours must really be going places to have the time to be laughed at on two sites. Hell it is probably more than two sites but I have yard work to do, and could care less.

To Not our rivals
Like it or not Dick is here to stay till the Herald does something about it.
So you can let Dick get under your skin, (which is what he really wants) or do as I do. Pity Dick, and throw him a bone every once in a while for a laugh. The guy is really lonely. Every little bit brightens his day.

Now Dick you be a good boy and repeat after me

IT'S GREAT TO BE A MIAMI HURRICANE!!! IT'S GREAT TO BE A MIAMI HURRICANE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

not our rival- No F_U fans? One posted right before you. OK. I'll lay off. Observe what happens when anyone makes a comment about UM football.

ACC- Why do you have a problem with the Miami thugs with barely a high school education? Do I detect a racist comment? Or did you forget that FSU has cheated its way through the decades and UF has had more thugs than UM if you measure thuggery by arrests. What a pathetic brainless puke you are. You must have really done well in them bastions of academia near Ocala. That is, unless you were home schooled by your sister?

-----------------------------------------------------

Does anyone remember what the circumstances were behind Soldinger's firing?

He coached Portis, McGahee, Jackson, Davenport, Gore

Well,,,, AG is working hard, very hard. I don’t see a problem with getting pumped about this season. This team is going to surprise big time. Pay back time boys. I’m all in with AG and the tie. Best news of all NO J.H. or those other bunch of losers. They found out they should have stayed in school. Anyway, we’re better off without them. Really like Ryan Williams and the DUKE coming in this year. The defense is looking better and better. Player development is critical. Big Al is the one to do it to boys thru hard work, blood ,sweat, and tears(the right way). Nobody is going to win a N.C. hanging out with the boys on the corner. It’s the U TOUGH program in the summer, its the film room on Fri. and Sat. nights, it’s TOTAL commitment. Those boys in the SEC can tell ya all about it. Back in the day, we knew this and found the world was ours. Coaches boys, its the coaches. Great coaches can get regular players to overachive. Great coaches can get great players to achive GLORY. Best of luck to all teams this year. Thank GOD for college football. Oh, and huh btw, BEWARE of the CANES. BEWARE……

Canes fans,
Do not get into a pissing match with the Turd trolls as regards recruiting. Due to last years large class, we will only be recruiting 15-17 players this year, tops. Other teams will be recruiting 25-28, maybe 30 players. With us only recruiting 15-17, and us already having 10, we have to be very careful about the other 5 to 7 that we have to offer. Signing day (Feb.) is 7 months away. So while other teams have 10 or so schollies left to "play" with we are limited.

All this is so early anyway in the game. Do we know how many of our 10 are going to stick? Of course not. Same is true for the loser 'Turd trolls who post on here, problem is, they are not mature or man enough to admit it. Also, those of you who have followed this blog for a while, do you remember how many guys on signing day the Turd trolls said they were going to get? My count was 10 (4 and 5 star guys). Guys like Nelson Aghor, Stephon Diggs, and Tracy Howard, too name a few. You remember how many of them they got? Maybe 1. The other 9 went to other schools including USC (the real USC, not the fake SEC one), FSU, Maryland and oh, yeah, The University of Miami. The scum bags were no where to be seen on this blog for weeks after there epic fail at making predictions. So please, don't get all worked up with these morons. As regards the main culprit who post on here, my thought is it is a kid, maybe 17-19, who dropped out of high school around 8th or 9th grade and who has read up on there Turd history or was told a little history while they were getting "Sanduskied" by their Uncle, that is the reason why they have a little so called "history" on the team. After the first Turd loss, they will go away till the following Thursday. In true Turd fashion, never mature enough to stand up to what there mouths (or fingers) spout off.

Agree with cane4life- thats why having brought in the 33 or so in this years class was key

5>3>2
From what I heard. The reason Kehoe, and Soldinger were fired was they got on the players, and Coker after the Chick-fila bowl against LSU.
Coker needed someone to blame, and they were it.

I agree with Cane4life. All of this talk about recruiting is just that, talk. I am happy these young men decided to become Canes. Until they put pen to paper(I like that quote from Irving) It is just a handshake.
Golden and the staff are doing a great job. Convincing these young men to consider becoming Canes with all the negativity in the press is outstanding.
I saw improvement last year in the team. There was less mental mistakes, and games were the years before the team would quit they fought till the end.
Their strength numbers as a whole this year are better than they have been in a long time.
To me the fact that the coaching staff is the same for a second year, for the first time in I don't know how long is very important.
I am looking forward to this season to see how all of these little things add up.
I really think if Porter can stay healthy, and another player elevates his game in the middle of the D-Line. I think we can win the Coastal. I believe if the D can put pressure up the middle they will eliminate some of the big plays they gave up last year.
I am not really worried about the Offense. I believe we have the players to put the points on the board. I think Morris will win the starting QB battle. His arm is stronger, and I read were Fisch said his understanding of the game has grown. Hopefully that will slow the game down for him. Which should mean less turnovers.
Everyone have a great week, and as always
IT's GREAT TO BE A MIAMI HURRICANE!!!!!!!!!!!!!

BTW, it should be their mouths (or fingers) spout off. Anyways, after reading the beginning of the great post by Canentally, I was thinking of the great job that Coach Golden and staff are doing recruiting. With sanctions looming (sorry guys, it would take a miracle for us not to be hit with something), Charles Robinson and Yahoo! checking the stools and even talking to the former pool boy from the guy who runs All Canes and Muschump, Kiffin, Fisher, Saban, Miles and ULiar, just to name a few banging on the school, Golden and the upcoming sanctions, Coach Golden and staff are still amassing a great, not good, but great, recruiting class.

Again, it is still early and as Canentally states, pen has to be put to paper in February. The Turd fans are just nervous though, because once we get our punishment and it is all out and there are no more "boogey men" for these coaches to use as their recruiting tactics, can you imagine how much better the recruiting process will be for Coach Golden and staff! There is a storm brewing (cue, stupid Turd fan saying "yeah, the NCAA sanction storm", stupid hillbilly laughter in background). We true 'Canes fans know what the storm really is though. It may take a couple years, but believe me gang, it will be here sooner than we think.

'cane turds stupid as ever. when will you realize your sudden rise to national prominence was nothing more than a blip on the radar? U play in another team's stadium, U fill it up 1/3 of the way, U haven't done sheet the last 10 years, U are a fallen, disgraced program, U lose to USF!!!!!!

BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAH!!!!!!!!!!!!BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH!!!!!!!

Al Golden is wasting his time with you guys! Bye bye Goldie, not even that dude can save you from Shapiro's wrath. That's what you get for having wannabe midgets run your football program.

U make up screen names because it's embarrassing how much time U spend on UM's nuts.

Our coach is too good for us? BWAHAHA? OK then. Good luck with Mustchamp, see you in 2013 then.

The Florida Gators have had an incredible recruiting run over the last few days leading up to Friday Night Lights. It started Thursday when Vernon Hargreaves III announced for the Gators. Jordan Sherit would soon follow and now 2014 standout defensive tackle Travonte Valentine says yes to the Gators. As if Florida coach Will Muschamp wasn’t already getting enough love on the recruiting trail, now he has a Valentine.

The Top 2014 defensive tackle Travonte Valentine (Palm Bay, Fla./Bayside) pledged to the Gators on Sunday, giving Muschamp his fourth Top-Rated Player verbal commitment in as many days. Most recruiting websites haven’t put out their 2014 rankings, but Valentine is expected one of the nation’s highest rated prospects at his position. At 6'4" and a shade under 300 pounds, Valentine has ideal size for a down lineman. 247Sports rates him an early four-star and sure to rise to a 5-Star. They also have him ranked as the third-best tackle in the country and the No. 32 overall prospect in the 2014 class.

He had offers from 14 other schools, including Alabama, Auburn, Florida State, South Carolina, Clemson, Ohio St. and dUh Sinking U...

His first visit to Gainesville was for Friday Night Lights and it turned out to be a charm, as Valentine fell in love with UF.

What's not to Love about Getting a Top-Ranked Valentine... U starting to see the REAL Picture Cane Fools? U keep getting all those DB's, WR's n RB's that the BIG BOYS pass on for Better Talent, but U gotz ZERO Depths on both Lines of Scrimmage... Every blob U line up on the D-Line ALL sat behind Ur tUb of Goo Fortson and some other non-rated stiff now working construction and not a one is projected for any ALL-ASS Conference Pre-Season team or Post-Season awards. Check Ur 2012 Oversigned Class. Not one BADAZZ D.T. And NONE in this years pUny Class. Ur interior D-Line will be worse than the ones that allowed trucks to drive through holes the past 8 years. Ur Undersized, Under-talented D-line will look like Players with their arms locked dancing a Doe-Si-Doe in Old-School Electronic Football. Ur Golden boy Chickfilet U'll cry is a Star riiieeet. But not even a mention among the Top 10 ALL-ASS Pre-Season Conference Team ? And Ur Coaches will coach'em up huh ? Good luck with that, when injuries hit again and U'll be dropping 6-2 250 lbs. D-End underclassmen inside the Tackles to try to fill the holes that'll U'll have. IT'S WHAT Seperates the SEC from ALL the Wannabes. And not only do U not have depth, U have NO Experienced talented depth or Starters either. 80th. Ranked Defense last year ? And U lost half Ur Starters ?... Cue TAPS. It'll be U.g.l.y. to watch... bUt U shoUld be use to it after the last 8 years... Now tell me I'm lying... U KNOW THIS !!!

THE SEC... Where Stud D-Linemen are made into NFL ones...
