Susan will be fielding Canes questions from to 2-3 p.m. in the comments section below.

Feel free to leave them now before lunch and she will get them as soon as the chat begins.

This will become a regular feature on the blog moving forward every Wednesday at 2 p.m.

How many guys on defense that played in last years game and beat Ga Tech are playing on defense this year?

Since I can remember this is the first time I have truly felt we will be going into games that we have 0% chance of pulling the upset, with the upcoming slate of GT, ND, FSU, VT.

Is there anything to provide me with some hope?

Susan,
Will the total price of going to a venue ever be affordable again?
Parking rates above all else are out of control.

Thanks,

This year the 'Canes are so young, I have not heard as many ex 'Canes stepping up and mentoring as in the past. Some have criticized the teams play, but of the great teams of the past, can you name any players that have helped Coach G in letting them know what a 'Cane is all about?

What's up with Curtis Porter? Thought he would be back by now or they would at least start talking about him coming back by now...

why can't the miami herald afford a program that does not allow two bloggers to have the same screen name or any close, misleading screen name?

Crazy as Warren Sapp is I wonder if he d accept an Al Golden invitation to provide a few pointers and advice/inspiration to the D line players????????????I do know he came I believe once last year to talk with those Canes.

Hi Susan,

What (if anything) is being done to improve the Hurricanes home field advantage? Miami used to have one of the biggest advantages and now has fallen so far that the
environment is essentially neutral.

Is there any talk of measures being taken to improve the environment at Dolphins Stadium...or better yet, any word on Miami BUILDING A STADIUM NEAR CAMPUS?

Thanks!

Hi Susan,

Will you venture a guess as to what you think Miami's record will be this year? With so many young players I don't expect a winning season but realize that many fans only want immediate gratification or look for reasons to complain. Maybe it is a Miami thing but I have stopped reading the comments because of it. Sounds like a bunch of crybabies.

As a Miami fan, should I root for FSU, so they are a legit national title contender and make ACC look better (and us by association), or does it hurt us more in recruiting having our in state rival dominate and us limp along?

Nathan- get real.

why does eye on the u repeat articles on the main UM sports page. i dont want to waste time reading articles twice. the herald really needs to clean that up.

Susan,

Great job as always. Do you know if there are still plans for buses to pick up seniors from Century Village for the home games? This is a great way for us to get to the stadium and fill seats! We love to yell, Hip, Hip, Hoorah!

Susan,
We appreciate your coverage of Miami football. You do a great job. Would you please ask blogger CANETILLIDIE DH why he still thinks that UM football is worth anything. Susan, he doesn't seem to grasp that The Canes have been irrelevant for years running. Ask him why he mysterious disappeared after the KState beat down.

Hi everyone. Just testing this for a minute. I'll be back at 2 p.m.

Eudocimus

He was on his "honeymoon".

1.Susan the stadium question was asked before. I spoke to the AD and I know something is in the works but can we get more details on what the stadium plans are?

2. Can we ask Kehoe what is up with Linder and his penalties the past few weeks, very unlike him.

3. A Q/A with you is never complete without a Seatrell question, Do you seem him regaining the starting role and if so which side do you see him playing?

1. what is the deal with ricardo williams? why is he so behind the true freshman?

2. do you still feel like the kansas st loss is still lingering with the team at all?

Hi everyone. I'm here and ready for your questions. There are several already so...

Q: How many guys on defense that played in last years game and beat Ga Tech are playing on defense this year?

NATHAN, I AM SO SORRY, BUT I CAN HARDLY PROVIDE YOU LOTS OF HOPE. I ALWAYS HAVE HOPE, BUT HONESTLY, I AM PICKING GEORGIA TECH TO WIN THIS ONE.

NOT INCLUDING THE INJURED PLAYERS WHO WE KNOW WON'T BE PLAYING SATURDAY (DENZEL PERRYMAN,FOR EXAMPLE), THERE ARE 10 ON THE CURRENT TWO-DEEP ROSTER WHO LINED UP ON DEFENSE LAST YEAR IN UM'S 24-7 VICTORY AGAINST GT AT SUN LIFE STADIUM.

WITH DENZEL PERRYMAN OUT, THE PROBLEM BECOMES HUGE. I COVERED THAT GAME IN 2008 AT ATLANTA, WHERE GT JUST OBLITERATED POOR MIAMI. IT WAS PAINFUL.

IT SEEMS LIKE IT TAKES A LITTLE BIT TO BECOME REALLY GREAT AT DEFENDING THE YELLOW JACKETS' OFFENSE. BUT NEVER SAY NEVER, AS THEY SAY.

Susan,

Is there any chance Seantrell plays both ways? I could see him doing really well on the DLine especially this week.

Q: A Q/A with you is never complete without a Seatrell question, Do you seem him regaining the starting role and if so which side do you see him playing?

Posted by: Hassan | September 19, 2012 at 01:43 PM

A: HASSAN, I DO SEE SEANTREL REGAINING THE STARTING JOB -- AT LEAST UNTIL, IF HE DOES EARN A STARTING SPOT, HE PROVES HE'S NOT CAPABLE OF KEEPING IT. HE HAS TOLD US HE FEELS MORE CONFIDENT PLAYING RIGHT TACKLE, BECAUSE OF HIS PREVIOUS BACK INJURY THAT AFFECTS THE WAY HE KICKS FROM HIS LEFT SIDE. HE DOESN'T FEEL ANY PAIN KICKING OFF HIS RIGHT HIP, BUT WORRIES ABOUT THE LEFT SIDE. HE SEEMED THRILL, HOWEVER, THAT HE DIDN'T FEEL PAIN AFTER A LONG TOUCHDOWN DRIVE LAST WEEK IN WHICH HE PLAYED LEFT TACKLE.

IF HE GOES TO THE RIGHT SIDE, THEN THE QUESTION REMAINS: WHO WOULD HE SUPPLANT? ERECK FLOWERS OR MALCOLM BUNCHE. MAYBE THEY'LL JUST KEEP ROTATING THEM. BUT THAT BIG BODY PROTECTING THE BLIND SIDE OF A QB WOULD BE NICE SECURITY.

SORRY ABOUT ANY TYPOS, EVERYONE. IT DRIVES ME CRAZY SEEING THEM AFTER I POST!

Was Gionni Paul in the middle this morning? I'm worried about him playing the middle for his first game against this offense. Wasn't Gaines practicing there with DP out? He must be that bad to lose it to Paul, no?

Q: This year the 'Canes are so young, I have not heard as many ex 'Canes stepping up and mentoring as in the past. Some have criticized the teams play, but of the great teams of the past, can you name any players that have helped Coach G in letting them know what a 'Cane is all about?

Posted by: UGoCane | September 19, 2012 at 10:33 AM

A: THAT'S A GOOD QUESTION. I KNOW IN THE OFFSEASON, WHEN SOME OF THE FORMER CANES WORK OUT IN THE WEIGHT ROOM, THEY SOMETIMES CHAT WITH THE YOUNG GUYS. BUT I'M NOT SURE HOW MUCH ACTUAL MENTORING IS DONE. WHEN ED REED VISITED UM TWO SEASONS AGO (WOW,LONG TIME ALREADY), HE PURPOSELY SPOKE WITH VAUGHN TELEMAQUE TO TUTOR HIM ON WAYS TO BECOME BETTER AT BALL-HAWKING. I KNOW THAT QUARTERBACKS IN THE PAST HAVE DONE A GREAT JOB OF THIS, BUT A LOT OF THESE GUYS LIVE SOMEWHERE ELSE OR ARE BUSY WITH THEIR OWN LIVES, I GUESS. STEPHEN MORRIS SAID HE TALKS REGULARLY WITH JACORY HARRIS (NO MEAN-SPIRITED REMARKS, PLEASE) AND I BELIEVE HE HAS TALKED WITH KEN DORSEY BEFORE. IT REALLY PROVIDES SOME VERY VALUABLE TEACHING AND INSPIRATION.

Any news on the stadium upgrades?

Do you think there is any dissension with the players and Coach D's system? Several times this fal we have heard of players having long talks with Coach D.

Posted by: 1Marine | September 19, 2012 at 11:36 AM

A: I REALLY DO NOT WANT TO MAKE A PREDICTION FOR THIS SEASON. I FEEL UNCOMFORTABLE DOING IT. AND IT'S NEVER VERY REALISTIC, SINCE WE CAN'T FORESEE INJURIES, ETC.

I WILL ONLY GO AS FAR AS SAYING I AM NOT EXPECTING A VICTORY SATURDAY. IF THE CANES WIN SATURDAY, THAT WOULD BE AN AMAZING COUP FOR COACH AL GOLDEN -- AND WHAT CONFIDENCE THAT WOULD IMPART.

What in your opinion Susan was the reason for Morris to be so off when we played Bethune?. Was he nervous?

The Coaches need a blowout to make these 14-20 first time players know what it is like... to win big
Do you think he will have a settled game with GT?..

Susan, who is your Fav Cane you have covered to Interview and your Fav Cane to watch?

@Eudocimus

Guess you can't talk straight up to me now. You have to go through third parties. Pathetic actions from a pathetic person? Still living with his parents (sorry roommates), in THEIR spare room, in your robe and fuzzy slippers surrounded by cheeto's? You most likely are since your shift hasn't started at publix yet. How did that Obummer stimulus work out for you? Probably not to well since you have yet to get a place of your own. With all of the time you spend on this blog you could have completed so many online degrees and move out already.

Have a nice day.

Posted by: Worried Cane | September 19, 2012 at 02:24 PM

A: I TALKED TO GIONNI PAUL AFTER PRACTICE TODAY AND HE TOLD ME HE'S PLAYING WEAKSIDE AND MIDDLE. INTERESTINGLY ENOUGH (AND UNDERSTANDABLY), WE HAVE NOT GOTTEN A NEW DEPTH CHART SINCE THE BETHUNE-COOKMAN GAME.

Q: Susan,

A: NO. LET'S START WITH ONE SIDE OF THE BALL AT A TIME! :)

A: I JUST TEXT-MESSAGED UM ASSOCIATE AD FOR MARKETING AND COMMUNICATIONS CHRIS FREET WITH THE FIRST PART OF YOUR QUESTION. ACTUALLY, I CALLED, BUT HE'S IN A MEETING AND GRACIOUSLY TEXTED ME BACK.

CHRIS SAID UM IS CURRENTLY EXPLORING HOW TO PUT GREATER FOCUS ON STUDENTS AT THE GAME, AND HE SAID "WE'LL EXPLORE EVERY FEASIBLE OPPORTUNITY TO CREATE ATMOSPHERE.'' HE ALSO SAID UM WANTS TO PUT AN "EMPHASIS ON TAILGATING AND REWARDING THOSE THAT DO IT.''

HE ALSO SAID UM WANTS TO BETTER TRACK FANS' EXPERIENCE.

IF ANY OF YOU HAVE SUGGESTIONS ON HOW TO IMPROVE THE HOME FIELD ADVANTAGE AND FANS' EXPERIENCE, CHRIS SAID YOU SHOULD EMAIL a.goodrich@miami.edu

Q: Do you think there is any dissension with the players and Coach D's system? Several times this fall we have heard of players having long talks with Coach D.

A: YOU ALWAYS HEAR THINGS LIKE THAT WHEN TIMES ARE DOWN. AND THERE ARE USUALLY AT LEAST A FEW DISGRUNTLED PLAYERS UPSET AT NOT PLAYING AS MUCH AS THEY BELIEVE THEY SHOULD. A LOT OF TIMES, AS WE'VE SEEN IN THE RECENT AND NOT SO RECENT PAST, IT ALL STARTS WITH THE PARENTS. MOST RECENTLY I'VE HEARD OF ONE PLAYER ON DEFENSE WHO IS NOT HAPPY WITH HIS PLAYING TIME. I SAY PROVE IT ON THE FIELD WHEN YOU'RE PRACTICING, OR IN GAME SITUATIONS.

Q: What in your opinion Susan was the reason for Morris to be so off when we played Bethune?. Was he nervous?

Posted by: UGoCane | September 19, 2012 at 02:36 PM

A: ANOTHER REPORTER SAID HE HEARD STEPHEN'S HAND GOT HIT BY A HELMET BEFORE THE LAST GAME (AT LEAST I THINK HE MEANT BEFORE LAST GAME, BUT I DO NOT KNOW IF THAT'S TRUE.) AL GOLDEN THOUGHT THE REPORTER SAID "HEAD'' INSTEAD OF "HAND" AND SAID HE HADN'T HEARD THAT AT ALL. I'M SURE ALL UM FANS HOPE THAT STEPHEN IS 100 PERCENT HEALTHY AND THAT PERFORMANCE (THOUGH IT WASN'T HORRIFIC) WAS AN ABERRATION.

THANKS EVERYONE FOR JOINING IN. I HAVE TO GO WRITE MY STORIES FOR TOMORROW NOW.

WE'LL BE BACK NEXT WEDNESDAY FOR A LIVE CHAT, AGAIN FROM 2 TO 3 P.M.

:)

Susan, please find out if there are plans to build seats closer to the field. Also, what about putting on a dome??

Thanks Susan I appreciate the update...your answer on Morris convinced me that there MUST have been a reason for such a precise QB to be off target..
Thanks again.
Go 'Canes Always

Show me where you would put that stadium near campus:

https://maps.google.com/maps?q=university+of+miami&ie=UTF-8&ei=PyxaUNzzH6We2AWCq4HwBA&ved=0CAsQ_AUoAg

I guess they could do a 5,000 capacity stadium and just throw some bleachers out there by the practice field. Then we'd get our on campus stadium.

Put a better product on the field or go to D-1AA or D-II. Especially, if we think we can compete with our academic standards.

Harvard of the south isn't going to be winning any titles anytime soon. There is a reason GT left the SEC years ago. The academic standards of the other teams in the SEC did not match GT's therefore they had to leave.

There is a reason SEC is dominating. No academic standards, and if we want to compete, we shouldn't turn away the studs because they don't go to class.

It's time to start viewing CFB as a farm league for the NFL, and give the kids playing, credits for the sport they are playing in, especially football. It is a class all by itself and the kids should get a credit for it. Weight lifting, studying playbooks, early morning workouts, film rooms, etc. Playing CFB, does prepare these kids to be professionals in the NFL. And if they don't make it, they can turn to coaching which is also a profession. The ones that can't, teach, right?

It should be treated the same as any accredited class that is preparing you to be a professional in any field. Including collegiate sports.

Our academic standards have gone up, and our sports programs have gone down. It's obvious, and we simply should stop being blind to it. The U is not the same U.

Can we be the first academic stud to win a football championship? I never say never, but it is very unlikely. Bama is running the show, and will continue to do so as long as Saban stays coach there. They are the new U. Damn that hurts to say, but the truth does hurt, doesn't it?

Buy a old aircraft carrier from the navy and build a floating stadium should be big enuff for a field and some bleachers

How about Shapiro's old yacht? Most of the players are already familiar with it. That would count as home field.

answer my question about repeating articles. it really is annoying. or freaking CLEAN IT UP

Best solution for home field advantage is to build a 20k stadium in Tropical Park.
I will be at the corner of Bird and 87th ave collecting signatures or my petition and hopefully raising some cash to make this happen.
All my cane brothers are asked to contribute.
GO CANES ALL DAY EVERY DAY!!

What's the use of having a Q&A session with someone that knows nothing about building a team, and deosn't even like the team???

Susan, what do you think of my proposed stadium at Tropical park? And can you and Manny come up with a contribution?

You are a very sad individual. May God have mercy on your sad little soul. There is more to life than working fast food across from Tropical Park.

GO CANES!!!!

And now you're stealing SMD's handle??? You are truly a low POS.
