Manny, from what you've seen at practice, do the Canes have the same edge they had prior to the GA Tech game, so as not to fall flat against NC State?

Manny, what are you hearing in terms of recruiting? Specifically the pursuit of Defensive tackles. It's been a while since we've had a stud at that position and with the limited number of scholarships we have going into next year, I'm wondering what strategy Golden has in place? Who is he targeting?

Could you post a list of canes who graduated or left early who made NFL rosters.

Thanks

With all the freshman playing and thevway coach golden cares about his player, ie hugging lewis when he got injured, is this having any effect with top recruits?

Seeing as how close we came to losing to BS and GT (I know, that sounds negative), but still won, compared to last year where we lost 6 close games, is this just karma repaying us for the pain of last year, and we have another four close wins coming our way?

I keep hearing that the injuries we have are significant, but we keep winning. Did the competitive spring truly give us alot of 1a and 1b string players where other schools have a far weaker second string?

After seeing how KSU has continued to improve, what areas do the Canes need to improve in to get to their level? I am sure "the defense" is a general answer, but where specifically do you think they need the most improvement?

Manny, do you think Robert Lockhart is going to play this week? How has he looked when you've seen him?

do you think miami will land two recruits from booker t washington? mathew thomas and denver kirkland?????

Manny -

Now that the Marlins are gone, is Sun Life stadium going to build seats closer to the field?

Biggest differences between Golden & staff vs. Randy Shannon & staff?

Was that a truck that hit me?

Do you believe allegations against Golden by Sean Pee Wee Allen?

Do you think there is an actual problem between Tracy Howard and Coach D'Onofrio or do you think rumored confrontation was either overblown and/or smoothed over at this point?

Do you think we will see a (on or near campus) football stadium for the Hurricanes in our lifetime?

How big an impact does having the worst sports fans IN THE WORLD (that's U we're looking at South Florida) have on recruiting?

Do you give the Hurricanes a chance against Florida State?

Compare and contrast the media policies under Coach Shannon vs. Coach Golden?

Do you frequent the Hurricane fan sites?

A: Golden complained today about the effort in practice. I think it's natural to expect a bit of a drop off this week. That's why I think it's important for the Canes to get some support from the crowd this week. No matter what, a good crowd gets you fired up.

How bad did you consider the refereeing (against the Canes) in the Georgia Tech game?

A: Obviously, coaches aren't allowed to talk to us about who they are recruiting. But right now UM has one defensive tackle commitment -- Keith Bryant, a 6-2, 306-pound kid from Delray Beach Atlantic. I know Maquedis Bain from nearby University School also remains a possibility. At this point, UM does have some good young defensive tackles at the program. Earl Moore is somebody Golden has continued to rave about. I think unless UM goes the JUCO route, there is no quick fix for their problems at tackle. Just growing pains.

A: Off the top of my head -- I know Marcus Forston is with the Patriots. Adewale Ojomo made the 53-man roster for the Giants. LaRon Byrd is with the Cardinals. Obviously Sean Spence (Steelers), Olivier Vernon (Dolphins), Lamar Miller (Dolphins), Travis Benjamin (Browns) were all drafted. I'm forgetting a couple others. Not sure if Tommy Streeter and Brandon Washington are still on rosters or not. Have to look them up.

Manny, I was disappointed that the game this weekend was a noon kickoff. What have you heard as far as ticket sales. What do you think attendance will be like?

A: I don't know if it has an immediate effect, but it will long term. That's an image Golden and UM can always put out there. I know from speaking to parents whose players are on the current team many were impressed. I would think any parents whose kids are considering UM that it only helps.

Streeter is on the Ravens and Washington was cut by the Eagles.

Manny, why are 5 stars recruit deciding to choose schools like LSU, Alabama and FSU over the rich tradition of UM, do you think small crowd has a lot to do with their decision not to come to Miami?

A: I think what you saw Saturday was a step forward in terms of attitude and confidence. This team knows it can win tough games now. Does that mean UM is ready to win the Coastal Division? I don't know about that. But strides were made internally in terms of players buying in, etc. As for the injuries, not having Perryman hurts, but Jimmy Gaines did a nice job filling in. I don't think there is a lot of separation in terms of the 1st and 2nd team -- so that's why you see so many people rotating. Is that necessarily great? No. You want more elite players across the board.

Guys, I'm going to start answering questions in the CoverItLive chat room above. Please take a moment to sign in there. I will grab questions from here and just copy and paste them above. Thanks.

Do you think this year can be different than the past? After a big win the canes come back and drop a dud on the fan base. I mean to head to Chicago at 4-1 going against a 4-0 ND WOW and yes ill be there!

What was your pre-season prediction for the Canes record? Any change to your prediction after 1/3 of the season?

How is the relationship (if there is one) between the football program (ie Golden) and the men's and women's basketball programs? Great basketball coaches, no?

Have you or Susan done a piece on Fentress? Love watching that little dude's passion on the field. Plays the way we as fans think/wish we would play if we were thrown out there.

Is the NCAA going to leave Miami hanging in the wind for another offseason? I'd really like to know what the verdict is instead of having the cloud of "potential sanctions" hanging over us for another recruiting year.

Do we have any taller/bigger DB's who can start ? Against GT last week, we were man handeled. Kudos to the GT wire receivers for actually blocking for the fellow teammates. Take not U recv's

What game were you watching Todd?? Basically the GT receivers were no advantage

Thanks Manny, it was great to read your answers!

Tommy is on IR...

Golden age... KSU didnt just magically improve. They are older more experienced, bigger, better. Last year was a close game that UM basically should have won. UM was more veteran. Basically we played the same team, but the difference ws that this team we just had too many young uns against a top ten team.

what's up with curtis porter? how come an appendectomy is taking this long for him to come back?

Do the Cane players and coaches know that NC State coach OBrian is a great coach and his players will be in great shape?

Do the Cane players and coaches know they need to play hard from the first play to the last play and not screw up or have worthless defenses (like 3 down linemen) or worthless offenses (like flat passes)?

Trying to come back from two touchdowns down is going to bite the Canes in the butt one of these days. The miracle wins at BC and GT were pure luck. KSU and NC State, etc, will not let Miami off the hook. They will just pour it on and never let up.

Miami had better strap on their helmets tight and get psyched. No more cake walks. Pre-season is over.

CaneFan'72,
BC and GT game were pure luck? really? Because UM stopping GT 2 posessions in a row and driving down the field 90yds to tie it is just pure luck. C'mon I understand what you are saying but give Miami credit when credit is due...We cant have mental lapses on defense vs NCState. Hopefully if we take the lead in this game we can keep it.

This game will determine if Goldnen boys are different from last year, In GOlden tenure I dont believe we ever went on a 3 game winning streak.

Golden's tenure has been one season. We also have never gone on a two game losing streak. Plus, unlike NC State playing Cincinati, South Alabama, and Citadel, we have never player three gimmes in a row, either.

Not disagreeing with you, just happy he gets the chance for the three game win streak on Saturday.

The three warm up games for NC State will have them chomping at the bit to beat Miami. They will have honed their offense and defense and be in great physical conditioning. And playing an away game will bond them more into a team.

In contrast, shalllalaaaalalalaa and golden will give the Canes and fans a siren. Wooooooooo. wow. U, U, U.

Grow up. It is not about the U or a stupid siren. It is about good offense and pro style defense, conditioning, DE FENCE And block, line block, pro style Miami passing game with down field passes.

Canesfan 72,

You should change your name to broken focking record hater troll. I'm sure Golden doesn't know anything about O'Brien considering he worked for the man. I know one thing for certain, you're a focking moron.

FightingIbis,

I find it refreshing that someone whos never played a four man front or used the proper shredding technique to chase down a pass in the flat can speak about it with such confidence.

Let me try it in a way that you can understand...

Baking doesnt require flour...or sugar as long as Mark donofrio believes it can be done... Even if he bakes crap week in and week out.

Hmmm. That was easy. All i had to do was type the nonsense i knew nothing about and boom!
It magically appeared.

How did I know some new screen name would come to Canesfan72, Jim Gallo, Rchy12, Cool Cat, Curse of Kehoe's rescue? Now you're Pine County Cane too?

I'm starting to remember why Manny's blog is a ghost town. He allows trolls to spew hate all over the place. I guess any traffic is good traffic huh Manny?

4 down linemen blah, blah, blah! Passes to the flats blah, blah, blah!

Goldens driving these haters bat shyt crazy and I love it! Coach D isn't going anywhere and I love that he'll be incorporating the 3-4. It's funny how people are talking about Coach D and his adjustments after ten years of no adjustments whatsoever. Corch Radio would just line up with superior talent and no scheme. The the talent left and we were stuck a shytty defense.

FightingIbis,

Why are you still running your recipe maker on this board?
And i dont know how to break this to you...but Randy's defense made adjustments and they were consistently in the top 10 for every year he was defensive coordinator. He was picked as the coordinator of the year during his tenure at defensive coordinator.
I love Golden but Donofrio is garbage and their is no evidence to the contrary.
Are you his wife?
Because you support Donofrio blndly without offerring a single shred of evidence as to why he deserves our confidence.
This is football sweetie...Leave it to the men who have actually played the game.
Take your fingers off the Keyboard and knead some dough...I believe I would like some Hawaian bread tonight. See if you can make that happen.
If your dinners any good tonight...maybe ill explain to you why a soft zone defense is super easy to torch.

What is Hawaiian bread? It sounds good.

Hawaiian Bread is awesome.
Its soft bread baked with honey or milk and sugar which gives it a subtle sweetness in addition to great texture.
You dont even have to put anything on it.
Just eat it plain...Just like Donofrios defense.
