Hey Manny,

Thank you for your non-stop coverage of our canes! Do you think that the bye week allowed the team to rest up & finish the season out strong or did the schedule finally catch up with the team's youth?

Manny - you ever think there might not be a benefit to calling up the parents of athletes and reporting their confused and biased second hand interpretations of situations?

It seems like injuries are down this year compared with the recent past. Do you think that is due to chance or could it be due to the new emphasis on conditioning?

Manny - do you think Dallas Crawford is sticking at RB or might he move to a slot receiver role? A Harvin/Cobb type?

Manny - what's your least favorite kind of owl? Mine's barn.

recruiting update please!!!!

Manny,
You wrote a piece on Miami's long Distance passing game being non-existance. Instead of Morris passing 40+ times, do you thing we will see Miami Ground and Pound vs Va Tech like we are use to seeing in previous years? 20+ Carries for Mike James maybe?

Manny,

I think Miami has a real good chance of winning the next 4 games....VT is obviously the last real hurdle on the schedule, and i don't want to hear no crap about Duke.

So how do you see the last 4 games playing out??

Manny

I also think coaching was to blame for the FSU lost even though they are the superior team.

How can any coach think that only giving the ball off to Mike and Duke for a total of 16 times is enough to keep an FSU defense "honest???"

We were doing play action passes on 1st down the whole 2nd half..... they were not fouled at all. It was embarrassing how the play calling was that game... and that 3rd and 2 pass instead of running was ridiulous.

How do you feel about Golden's Game Day Management skills??? b/c I'm really starting to believe Jason Whitlock.

Does it look like we finally might see Porter play some Thursday?

Duke Johnson started with a real Up tempo start..with injuries and learning the system do you think that he will have a few more breakout games this season, or do forward to great things next year?.

Manny, even tho u don't do recruiting until Jan and Feb it would b nice to know what the kids think of there experiance at the games and their visits.

Are we wearing our Classic Unies for this game or are we going to something outrageous?..
Funny when the players feel comfortable psychologically they play with that style. Put them in weird uniforms and it does nothing for the team.

Green retro UGh!!

Manny, do you think this cold weather we are having will affect the team? Do we have space heaters and thermal blankets available for tonight?

Manny, Golden seems to take the pat the players on the back approach after bad plays. If you look at a lot of the top coaches in the game right now they seem to be more chew the players out for bad plays. Do you think Golden needs to start taking a harder approach after some of these bad plays on the field?

looked up stats from last years team. They gave up 6 yards a play last year with veteran starters. This year its 7 yards a play. Also looked up Temples stats turns out they gave UP 6 yards a play while A.G was there. Hopefully he can CUT HIS DC LIKE HE CAN CUT SOME IF THESE PLAYERS. stats never lie.

players also have to be harder on themselves and each other, they have to show they care when they drop passes and false start etc. i remember when ed reed and all the dbs would do push ups if they thought they missed an interception. if you have to wait for a coach to motivate you to do better you'll never be a winner

Stats never lie but canes 702 sure does

2009 temple 335 yrds/gm-miami 321 yrds/gm
2010 temple 317 yrds/gm-miami 317 yrds/gm thats the great dc resume playing against powerhouses like buffalo and miami ohio

tdotcane = Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

when he left temple and arrived in miami
2011 temple 315yds/gm-miami 360 yds/gm
2012 temple 407yds/gm-miami 499 yds/gm

anti-calvin at least the dc is running a balanced defense they have given up 2000yards passing and 2000 yards rushing. until you and the other dreamers realize this dc will not take us to the dominant defenses we had and his pal must let him go ill have to continue to post these outrageous stats.

I like Pierre. But he can't do it by himself. When the VT QB ran up the middle, he smiled at the out of position Ray Ray. U see, UM got blown off the line, and the secondary was no where to be found.

Why do questions never get answered on the live chat on here???

ROFL, you off the chain boy!

cool cat- we know that you dunno. So stop posting silly stuff because you dunno squat.

Big game, hope we can pull it out. The offense really needs to get going.

It’s also time to stop blaming Randy Shannon for UM’s .500 fortunes. Shannon dealt with limitations and a questionable inheritance, just as Golden has. He beat Virginia Tech, though. Enough with the excuses that have burdened the program since it was last ranked among the elite.

I like this linda robertson article, she seems to know what she's looking at. Also, it's stupid to blame shannon for anything, the talent he left goldie with vs the talent shannon got left, right now, shannon is definitely the better headcoach if you really want to compare the 2. If we're going off of who's the better headcoach based off the talent they had and the record of both headcoaches after 2 years, shannon wins hands down.

shannon @qbwas left with kyle & kirby,
goldie was left with j70 & smo.
shannon @ runningback was left with javariss james javariss james, derron thomas & kylan robinson,
goldie had, Truth miller, mike james and eduardo

I can go on and on about who came into the better situation, so for goldie to be sitting with aound the same record as shannon had right now, shannon up to this point was the better headcoach.

When shannon was the headcoach, 2 of the years he headcoached this team was in control of their own destiny to win the acc(which i could care less about myself if we win it or not) and eventually his oc let em down.

Also, shannon was coaching at a time when V-tech was strong and they still barely beat us, goes back to the nipple's tired play-calling. Who puts a qb under center, with an empty backfield and than have all the receivers running deep curl routes.

The funny thing is, all oc's know, the only time we go press-man is on 4th downs in crucial moments of the game, so what they'll do is go into a 3 or 4 wide receiver set, and since we got all of our linebackers now trying to "quit running around the block and jack em up" type technique's, teams know the middle of the field is going to be wide-open on those situation.

Seriously, how did an oc know to call that play for logan thomas on 4th and 1, lol, one of the slowest 19 yard runs i've ever seen in my life.

Same thing with Virginia last year, crucial down, we got jimmy gaines(a linebacker) in press man over a runningback not even in the redzone. I'm waiting for goldie to call a timeout, cause i know they seeing the same thing alot of us are seeing, but once i saw goldie not call a timeout, i'm saying, man, he must don't know defense either. About 45 yards later, that Virginia runningback is walking in the endzone, than all we hear are them trying to blame ray ray, lol, which made it even more obvious they(goldie & his boy) don't know how to coach defense.

calvin- youre bringing up shannon.

two words about shannon- He s--ked... a55. as a head coach. He couldnt coach his way out of a jiffy john. Two examples:

1) The Marve-Harris QB shuffle--- stoopid
2) Allowing Harris to chuck it down field against USF when all we needed was a field goal to win. That ended his career at UM.

Its now.

Its Golden time.

UM has great potential.

They need a marquee win. Tonight would be it-even if Va Tech is down.

Did you not understand why shannon was rotating marve and jacory, that wasn't a bad move for going into shannon's 2nd year, because it was the first year for both of those qb's. Also, marve wasn't reliable off the field, alot of situations that wasn't brought out. jacory was definitely the better qb, but shannon was giving marve every opportunity to earn the starting spot, his pops and him just wanted shannon to name him the starter going into the next season even though he hadn't separated himself.

jacory throwing the ball down field had to do with the oc. When the administration hired nipple and forced him on shannon and made nipple assistant headcoach, that means, that assistant headcoach gets to run his unit how he see's fit the headcoach is still the ultimate decider on personnel which is why shannon would never bench jacory because he knew it wasn't jacory that was interception prone, it was the offensive system that was.

That's why all of our qb's had a high interception rate, even smo, and nipple's own son. That offensive system that nipple tried to run was the same system that the rams ran with the same principles from the air coryell days, and when you go back and research dan fouts, kurt warner and than jay cutler(when mike martz was in chicago) all those systems had their qb's either leading or being among the league leaders in pick's.

On year under jedd and j70 had just 5 interceptions all year, which resembled more of the True j70 than anything else. This year, smo's picks are down as well. Result of better caoching at the qb position as well as coaching to the strength of the qb's and not to the system in place!

Whipple was a bad coach, he called plays like we were down by 27 points. Jacory did look much better last year. Damn...I just agreed with Calvin.

I think Fisch is starting to float into Whipple territory.

I'm expecting to something good from the coordinators tonight. The offense has had a whole week to prepare for VT so we should see some new wrinkles. The defense shouldn't be mixed up about anything.

You agreed with the facts, is what you did. As far as jedd fisch is concerned, it seems to me like coach goldie is starting to try and be more involved with the offense now, especially during that Fsu game for some reason so that could be why jedd is seeming to start to take a lil more of a detour now. When you got coaches trying to force the home-run hitters to much, they fell in luv to much with duke johnson and his home-run hitting ability.

So what happens is, mike james breaks off an 8 to 10 yard run and all of a sudden this coaching staff thinks "man, if duke got to that same area, that would've been a home-run" so they snatch mike james out and come right back with about the same running play, it doesn't work like that, now duke is banged up.

They need to get back to using that man sparingly and learning to run plays off of duke. Against Fsu, you're not going to out athlete them like that, so duke right now is not better than devont'a freeman for the most part. duke has probably more potential though than freeman.

What is the Canes Record on Nov 1st games ?

Linda Roberts is a woman U dope. She knows about as much about Football as U do, Nothing.

FOCKING GAMETIME CANESFANS!!!!!!!! TIME TO POP THAT TUMOR OFF OF BEAMER'S NECK!!! IF WE PLAY AGGRESSIVE DEFENSE LIKE WE DID AGAINST FSWHO, IT'LL BE GAME OVER FOR THOSE JOKIES. FRIED TURKEY, ORDER UP!!!!!

7:30PM GET YOUR A55E5 TO THE GAME!!!

This offense depends on the big play, it's what has been there in every win.

I'm more concerned about balance because it keeps the defense off-balance. I think they need to check their run/pass ratio and make sure they don't fully turn this back into a Whipplesque offense.

Duke is dangerous with that ball in his hands, so I don't blame them for trying to get it to him. Duke was always going to wear down, he's just a puppy. I'm happy with whatever he can give for the rest of the season. I'm really looking for something out of any other back. Duke will be a beast next year.

I don't mind Golden working on the offense. He's the head coach and he's accountable in the end.

Just wanted to add...if we see man, we should be looking for big plays. We have to be able to take advantage of man coverge. Our d isn't very good, so there's pressure on this offense to score early and often.
