« Duke Johnson only Hurricane named to All-ACC team | Main | Duke Johnson becomes UM's 1st All-American since 2005 »

More football, just not the Miami Hurricanes. Will you be watching FSU-Georgia Tech? Al Golden: "I probably won't be.''

It's a big weekend for college football.

Unfortunately, a lot of us who would have been in Charlotte this weekend for the ACC Championship, will now sit at home Saturday and watch Georgia Tech (6-6 overall. 5-3 ACC) take on Florida State (10-2, 7-1).

Probably not Al Golden.

Unless he changes his plans.

When The Hurricanes coach was asked If he would be watching the ACC title game, he replied, "I probably won't be. I hope I'm at a recruiting dinner trying to get someone that's going to help us get in that game -- again.''

You know it's driving Golden crazy that the Canes aren't in this game, which should have been UM vs. FSU in a rematch of state rivals. When the UM administration opted to self-impose its second consecutive bowl ban in hopes of softening expected NCAA penalties in the Nevin Shapiro case, that also included the ACC title game.

"We've made a significant sacrifice here,'' Golden said. "It wasn't just one postseason game. It was three postseason games. It was a chance to play in a championship game and it also was a chance to play our arch-rival and have a chance to go to a BCS game. So, we're giving up significantly."

Especially frustrating that Georgia Tech is the team that got the nod for the title game over the Hurricanes, who beat Tech in Atlanta in overtime this season (remember Mike James' incredible performance that game?)

Anyway, in case you didn't hear already, the NCAA has granted Georgia Tech permission to play in a bowl game should the Yellow Jackets lose to FSU and have a 6-7 record. In doing so, that could prevent a team such as 10-2 San Jose State from playing in a bowl, or 6-6 Central Michigan.

Doesn't seem to make sense.

WAY TO GO SHAYON

Wanted to give a shout out to defensive end Shayon Green, who won the 2012 Brian Piccolo Award along with FSU running back Chris Thompson.

The Piccolo Award, given annually since 1972 in memory of the late Brian Piccolo, goes to the "most courageous" football player in the ACC. Piccolo, who played for Wake Forest (and the Chicago Bears) and was the 1965 ACC Athlete of the Year, moved to South Florida when he was 12 and graduated from the former Central Catholic High -- now Fort Lauderdale St. Thomas Aquinas -- in 1961. He was stricken with an aggressive form of cancer and died at age 26. (aside: any of you remember, or ever seen, the movie that immortalized Piccolo -- Brian's Song? A remake of it was made in 2001. The original was aired in 1971.)

Shayon, according to the news release of the award, "had to overcome four different major injuries:'' two ACL tears in his right knee, one meniscus tear in his right knee and also suffered a dislocated wrist that forced him to miss "all, or a major part of the 2009, 2010 and 2011 seasons.''

"Shayon is an amazing individual with an unparalleled work ethic,'' Golden said. "I cannot think of anyone who exemplifies the ideals of Brian Piccolo or is more deserving of this award than him. He has overcome a dislocated wrist and three separate knee surgeries to become our leading tackler and team captain. His commitment and perseverance is an inspiration to us all.''

Frank Gore (2004) and Glenn Sharpe (2006) are the other two Canes who previously won this award.

I did a feature about Shayon early this season. He's a tough player, whom I recall many a day walking to or from practice limping. But he ended up leading the Hurricanes in tackles with 67 in 12 games -- three more than LB Denzel Perryman (nine games); six more than LB Gionni Paul (nine games); and eight more than LB Eddie Johnson (10 games).

Shayon will be back next year.

HERE'S THE BEGINNING OF THE STORY I WROTE ABOUT SHAYON EARLY THIS SEASON:

When Shayon Green learned that fifth-year senior linebacker Ramon Buchanan sustained a second major knee injury Saturday on the same knee Buchanan tore last October, tears welled in Green’s eyes.

“That was very upsetting,’’ Green said this week, taking a few moments to compose himself. “He’s in my prayers.’’

Green’s empathy is palpable. The 6-3, 260-pound Miami defensive end tore the anterior cruciate ligament of his right knee as a freshman during 2009 fall camp. He tore the same ACL again during spring practice of 2011.

“But I never quit,’’ he said.

This medical marvel, an inspiration to teammates and coaches alike, resumed his playing career six months after his second reconstructive surgery. Today, the redshirt junior leads the Hurricanes (1-1) in tackles with 15 – highlighted by his tackle-for-loss on an attempted trick play from the 1-yard line at Kansas State in the second quarter.

KSU missed an attempted field goal on the next play.

“He’s as tough as they come,’’ defensive coordinator Mark D’Onofrio said of Green, who plays strong-side, rush end and nose tackle on third downs. “He has come back from multiple injuries, yet he throws it around every day. Here’s an example of someone who doesn’t make excuses, a guy playing three positions and owning the game plan.’’

Green, 21, grew up in Tifton, Ga., where he was rated the No. 65 weakside defensive end by rivals.com. He said his mother, a nurse; and father, who owns a small construction company, helped keep his spirits up through both ACL tears.

“Proud is not the word,’’ said Larry Green, who had just hung up with Shayon a day after the demoralizing 52-13 loss at Kansas State. “He’s very respectful, well mannered, smart – and I love him to death. He was a little upset because he’s a leader on the defensive line and they played poorly. I told him, ‘Pick yourself up, dust yourself off and get ready for Bethune-Cookman. You’ve got to rally your troops.’’’

HURRICANES TO HOST WOUNDED WARRIORS

The UM baseball team will host the Wounded Warriors Amputee Softball Team for a 7 p.m. exhibition on Saturday, Dec. 8 at Alex Rodriguez Park at Mark Light Field.

The Wounded Warriors are young veterans and active duty soldiers who have lost limbs while serving their country in the military since 9-11.

Pregame festivities will begin at 6:30 p.m. All proceeds from the game ($10 general admission tickets a the gate) go to the Wounded Warriors.

These guys are awesome -- and they're incredibly fit. I've covered the Wounded Warriors who run in the ING MIami Marathon. It's a fantastic organization. I'm guessing that this event will be inspiring, and worth attending.

IN CLOSING...

Another shout out, this one to the men's and women's hoops teams, who had back-to-back great victories against highly ranked teams -- the men against No. 13 Michigan State and the women, last night against No. 6 Penn State.

Michelle Kaufman covers UM hoops for The MIami Herald, and wrote two compelling stories on the games.

While she was at the men's game two nights ago, by the way, she caught up to UM interim AD Blake James to ask him about the speculation of Al Golden speaking to Tennessee (or other teams) about head coaching vacancies.

She relayed this quote to me, from James:

"I spoke to Al the last two days regarding all the rumors and he assured me that he'll be with us next year and isn't going anywhere."

 I believe it.

I am on furlough next week (mandatory and predetermined), so will be back after that.

Everyone have a healthy and happy week ahead.

truth- No it isnt you half wit dement:

1981- 2012- 5 NCS for UM. It doesnt mean they won one in 2011 or 2011. But I guess un sophisticated people like you have tohave everything spelled out. Right, r-o-c-k-e-t-sc-ie-n-tis-t?

Heres another set of facts for you a55-weep:

Um has been out recruited since they started playing football. Who cares.

Um TV ratings are some of the ebst in cfb. Not every game you brain surgeon, but in general. Who has the top three televised cfb ratings of all time?

You guessed it.

UF has been top 5 recruiting since their last NC in 2008 same with FSU what has that gotten them?

Miami has never had an on campus stadium, or great facilities. Orgeon, for ex has the enicest facilities everywhere. What has that gotten them?

Problem is arguing with inbreds like you with one cerebral hemisphere is like running around in circles.

I cant believe myself Im actually engaging your dribble

Nowhere in UM's official statement does it say Al Golden was involved in the decision.

The official statement says Shalala, compliance people, and leaders of the athletic department were involved.

Al Golden said he had nothing to do with the decision and that it was up to Shalala and Athletic Director Blake James, and he mentioned them by name.

You claim it was Al Golden's decision and that he and the university are lying about it and you have nothing but your delusion to back it up.

I do hope for your sake that you're just a Gators troll trying to get a rise out of people and not really this dumb.

not 1 person but golden said he was not part of the decision....and his excuse was that he could be sued if he was part of it.....who would he be sued by?

1. UM
2. the parents
3. the players
4. ncaa
5. espn, lol

please advise....see green pea, golden got caught in a lie.....

Calvin,

I understand your criticism of the star ratings system. I believe that the probability of finding a great player is greater in that group than not. The program and coaching they enocunter will facilitate that potential or not.

See - Ray Ray, for example...

We agree on coaching being an issue of concern.

We also agree on my Penn State South comment. That will not get it done at the national level. Too conservative, old school, Big Ten style of football.

I have not liked some of these "he has to grow up" kind of suspensions and comments.

Could be wrong, but I believe that D'Onofrio in particular does not connect with his players in a way that builds deep loyalty and unit identity.

Not sure about Golden, although he is more animated and has shown love for many players, for example, the injured Malcolm Lewis.

Agree that the public dissing of kids MUST stop, and the relationship building, mentoring, oversight functions must be very strong.

We have seen what Big Ten football gets when they play the SEC in bowls. Slaughtered. That ain't gonna get it at UM, and I hope these guys wake up and modify their defensive ideas, in particular.

The O will be very good, and that showed real flashes of big-time potential this year.

Golden and D'Onofrio need to make room in their psyches for more that image of JoPa's teams, and open themselves to the talent available in Florida and new approaches to today's game. Speed can "kill"...

THE UNIVERSITY SAID HE WASN'T PART OF THE DECISION!!!!!!

That's it, I give up, no one's this dumb.

golden is a coward....he is totally responsible for UM not playing FSU....and then advancing to OB.....this is his pattern, excuse after excuse....schedule too hard..players too young....TMZ since I got here.....why r we even stuck with this idiot....UT blogs dont want him....

we will see next year but at least we have 3 games already won:

1. florida atlantic 3-9, 2nd to last place
2. savannah tigers 1-10, fsu kills them 55-0
3. usf 3-9, no head coach for 2013

truly pathetic what UM has become....

university of temple, located in beautiful coral gables....new colors next year....all yellow

Get off my....

Never mind....

Lol

Miami is now screwed. Word is Coach Steve Addazio is leaving Temple to be the head coach of Boson College. Jokes aside while many Gators did not appreciate this man, he held things together when Urban checked out. I will always respect this man and think he is a heck of a football coach under the right circumstances. Not sure BC is the right circumstances.

BC and UF are two different worlds. Wt BC the players actually go to class instead of stealing laptops and threatening gfs.

Jim gallo is a moocher, stays at home with his free phone, free internet, just looking up anything to beat up our coach. Golden will,WILL prove him wrong, and thatname will disappear.Shallow gallo will be bored to death, in his single wide in downtown turdville, watching the canes be relevant again, and the turds doing just that, laying a turd. Hey jim, how 'bout washin' that spit off the porch, (actually its just those steps leading to the doorway of the trailer). No door of course

Is Nevin Shapiro in GenPop? Can anyone get at him?

Calvin youre worse than gallo. You said coker left things worse for shannon than shannon left for golden?

Coker never lost to the gators. With buthchs kids or his own.

Coker went 12-0, 12-1, 9-2, 9-3, 9-3, 7-6

Serious?

Coker sent kenny phillips, javarris james, baraka, and many others to the NFL

I think you're confused, this shaat you just typed makes no since whatsoever. If you're trying to dispute what i said, you just disputed your own self with what you said, don't get confused!

No- CAlvin, I think you are confused because now you are forgetting what you typed back on 12/04 at 1:32 pm:

"Shannon is the one who upgraded all the talent around here again" Shannon took over a team that had Kyle and Kirby..."

Are you serious? Dude, you have to put down that spliff when you post stuff. Shannon did NEITHER. He did not upgrade any talent here (prime example is Jacorry Harris, whose best season was under Golden and FIsch when he actually learned how to check down and read defenses. And by the way, dont come on here and talk about records. Coker even in his worst year went to a bowl and won it. Shannon took Miami to 3 bowls and lost them all. He had a shot to beat Cal, Wisconsin and for all practical purposes his team played Notre Dame and got crushed. He lost to USF, UF and only beat FSU once or twice. Coker never lost to UF or FSU. Shannon's recruits in the NFL? Lamar Miller how is that 4th string working out with the Dolphins? Please.

I respectfully disagree with your posts.

You all should stop hating on Golden. He's Miami's coach. He loves the kids. He loves the U. Give him time.

Shannon brought Arthur Brown here and kept him on special teams. He mightve brought some talented players, but so what, we were terrible.

FSU bound!!!!!!!!

Can t stand that Miami s DC will still be here.Just wondering..........if Cane s Golden was a bit like Meyer or Muschump or when JJ was at the U.....and got in players faces once in awhile.....would that increase their tenacity????????????Works for some teams.Saban at Alabama....Miles I m not sure he does it as much as Saban does.Seems Golden s too NICE to his players during the heat of the battle.Just sayin.

just saw Keith Bryant has decommited! thats 2 including the RB. Do we need any more motivation to get rid of D' Nofrio! We need D-Linemen more than anything, should be easy sell since they could start or get significant playing time. Now the "ONE" DL we had committed has jumped ship! If D'Nofrio and Golden settle for some more schlubs because kids don't feel they can succeed under D'Nofrio then he should go!

Maybe D'Onofrio will be the new Temple head coach. We can only hope.

Come on man, it's not even worth talking to you if you're seriously saying j70 finally learned how to use his check downs. IF you're saying that, it's clear you're just a football fan and don't understand the actual footbal games. When mark nipple was the oc here, with the offense he ran, there were no check downs to be made in that offense. Go back and look at the route combinations in that offense and you'll get your answers and you'll understand and don't get amnesia, none of the qb's thrived under that offense when it came to turn-overs.

And if you're seriously suggesting that jacory harris wasn't and upgrade over kyle or kirby you're definitely a waste of time to talk to. Also, if you're seriously trying to compare shannon's record vs what butch davis left to "thee incompetet one" before shannon, again, you must just be a football fan, because you're not looking at the facts and that's obvious. Whether you disagree or not, the facts don't change.

You're answering your own post, a team that was handed over with a record amount of 1st round draft picks, ends up being watered all the way down to 7 & 6. Than people like to make the argument that shannon was only a good d-co because he was coaching butch's players, lol. So what they're really saying, shannon would have done a better job coaching at UM had he taken over the team that butch left, i concur.

Since you naming shannon recruits in the nfl, ok, don't leave out jimmy graham, leonard hankerson, brandon harris, allen bailey, dvd, harland gunn, spence, damien berry, olivier vernon, the list goes on. Their is a delusional bias towards shannon that's stupid at the least, the same with jacory. Under shannon and jacory, the expectations of winning again came back which is why alot of people felt great dissappointment for the losses.

When kyle was the qb, not to many people believed we would win games, especially when we got down by 10 points, he wasn't coming back in no games. Than you want to say shannon only beat Fsu once or twice, how many times has coach goldie beat Fsu. kyle never won a game against Fsu, kirby did that. shannon was 2 for 2 against Fsu, the kirby comeback and 2009 when j70 torched em. Just simple facts, i don't come on here blabbin off the cuff.

shannon was handcuffed as the headcoach here, goldie came in with free reign and he's struggling, primarily because he has the wrong guy trying to lead the defense and mis-using the speed advantages we've always had defensively and their trading that in for more bulk and size in the name of being more physical. It's the right philosophy at the wrong school.

i like coach goldie, we're going to see how long they keep blaming the players on defense, going into year three, their excuse time is running out about why we have a defense ranked this low and broke records for being this bad a defense. If goldie continues to try and justify why the defense is this bad, if him leaving because he doesn't want to fire his boy means we're going to be able to start playing defense again, than so be it.

I like goldie, but he's not perfect and he's falling into a bad pattern of blaming the players and making excuses for the type of defense that's being played here. Other than that, i do think he's organized and works hard, game day coaching, i haven't seen anything yet that leads me to believe he's a championship coach just yet, i do feel like he has alot of potential though!

just saw Keith Bryant has decommited! thats 2 including the RB. Do we need any more motivation to get rid of D' Nofrio! http://blogs.palmbeachpost.com/highschoolbuzz/2012/12/05/atlantic-dt-keith-bryant-likes-florida-state-over-miami/

For those bozo's who keep bashing em, jim gallo knows WTF he's talking about. We'll see how many give me credit, 1st he called the alex collin one, than the keith bryant one, but somehow that man gets called names, lol. Always funny to me how people seem to have disdain for Truth & Facts, than when they're obvious, those same individuals like to run and hide.

It was clear keith bryant was rolling out, that's why UM started looking in another direction. Facts are, you're not going to get to many d-line recruits over Fsu with coach odell haggins, vs jethro & oach OH-NO. Or over uSC and coach lawing over their vs jethro & OH-NO. THose guys just don't come off as defensive guys. Add to that fact is, our d-line barely sniffed the qb this year. We heard it was youth, but all across the nation we keep seeing impact freshman along the d-line.

goldie will either learn quick or the hard way, he'll continue to lose defensive recruits and worst than that, it'll be hard for him to even convince defensive recruits to actually come in. Our defensive stats and scheme are worst than the cloud hanging over UM. In fact, if the nc2a wanted to really punish us, all they'd have to do is give oach OH-NO a guaranteed 5 year contract extension to coach the defense, as it stands right now, that's worst than losing schalorships or bowl games, he's doing that already by himself.

goldie will learn soon that this defensive scheme he's trying to run here is not attractive to alot of players. Hell, it wasn't even attractive to tracy howard, he came in for other reasons. Until we get back to playing our normal aggressive styleof defense that we're use to playing and seeing around here. If coach shannon was still here, keith bryant, bain and bostwick would be on their way here, as well as matthew thomas and almost whoever else on defense we'd need.

Let the Truth be told, right now, we're the softest team from a philosophical standpoint between us, Fsu and the gaytors, and that's a crying shame. Never before could it be said that we were a soft philosophical team. offensively, we'll try and go at anybody, but defensively, we definitely got to turn it up a whole nother level.

I like when we played Fsu this year, what's funny is, when dzp stuck o'leary and made em fumble, that's talent not coaching, dzp has been hitting people like that since highchool, coaching on that play was, how did o'leary get that wide open, it was going to be a minimal of a 9 yard gain had dzp not forced a fumble, the scheme that we're running just doesn't account for a whole lot, it's main purpose is, "let's keep everything in front of us and force the other team to execute their offense".

In other words, it's a defense that waiting for unforced errors for the mos part. It's a coward's scheme because it's not challenging anyone to the max. Free releases off the line of scrimmage, anyway, this year coming up, if we look anything close to last year on defense, they can hang it up for defensive recruits. Even this year, we mess round and let matthew thomase get out of Miami, although, he's a linebacker, so he'll plenty of chances to make plays.

oach OH-NO definitely doesn't connect with the players the way the great d-co's do, bring back dave mustache and get him out of the cold up in buffalo. I like coach goldie, he came in reading off and showing how much homework he did about UM, i'm real sure he knows the hitory of the defenses at UM as well, him and his boy should be ashamed of themselves.

I don't understand why goldie doesn't understand that we're use to having athletic and fast d-linemen, not these gilbert brown type that they want. We got the d-linemen who're athletic enuff to get up field and do work, not all this sit back, check run than proceed to pass rush type. Bottom line, this guy does not know how to coach defense until proven otherwise.

Heres another set of facts for you a55-weep:

"Um has been out recruited since they started playing football. Who cares."

Apparently not many people care that they don't show to the games.
The top recruits care and they go elsewhere.
The record reflects this fact.
You should care, but you are too stUpid.

"Um TV ratings are some of the ebst in cfb. Not every game you brain surgeon, but in general. Who has the top three televised cfb ratings of all time?
You guessed it."

Here you go again bragging about TV ratings. Is that why no one goes to the games? Are they all home watching TV?
Only a Moron would brag about TV ratings. Who cares?
You don't care about recruiting but you do about TV ratings. You are so special.

"UF has been top 5 recruiting since their last NC in 2008 same with FSU what has that gotten them?"

For UF a one loss season in 2009 and 2012 with BCS bowl wins and tons more top 5 recruits coming in.
For FSU an ACC ship, BCS bowls and more top recruits coming in.

"Miami has never had an on campus stadium, or great facilities. Orgeon, for ex has the enicest facilities everywhere. What has that gotten them?"

Again Oregon is a winning program every year and gets top recruits.

"Problem is arguing with inbreds like you with one cerebral hemisphere is like running around in circles.
I cant believe myself Im actually engaging your dribble"

Problem is your program is on a steady downward spiral and Morons like you justify the losing and mediocrity by having the all or none mentality saying that if you don't win the NC then it doesn't matter how good or bad you are.
It matters a lot.
You need to walk before you can run
FSU is on the right track, they won the ACC and play in the BCS. They will get top recruits to allow them to stay on top.
Same with UF.
You are falling behind. Your 2 best recruits have already decommited.

Vote for Sebastian the Ibis, maybe he can win something for your sorry program for a change.
Then you can brag about having the best mascot, along with your TV ratings, pro bowlers, and other crap like it that don't matter.

These kids' words don't mean squat. They commit then de-comiit when another school promises them more. Theyre nothing but hoes.

I'm sorry. yeah I know theyre kids, but they need to show some character, and committingto a coaches face, then tuning aorund and de-commiting is lame.

The whole system is broke. The BCS is a clear sham (Aaron Rogers agrees with me). A 16 team playoff is the only way to go in D-1. The old fat white men who decide things say its too much football. BS. D2 and D3 play a playoff. Theyre actually in touher academic programs bc some of those liberal arts programs academics are quite tough.

Recruiting is a sham. I say recruit some kids that no one wants, let them stay in So Fl, coach them up and bring in 1 or 2 specialty (rb, QB or Dend) kid like Boise State has done forever, butthat wantto be here- not like Chubbs Bryant who really didnt want to be here anyway, and let his momma do his talking for him

Good riddance.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHA, do you ever listen to yourself loser? Get a life!

Supposedly a "Gators fan" praising the Seminoles.

That's about all you need to know about this dude, doesn't care at all about college football, just this fake internet rivalry he spends all day every day on.

corpus, i think it would be wise for you to regroup your thought process. First off, they definitely are kids, with hundreds of adults promising them almost everything they can think of. Than you have these grown fans calling teenagers names who are in the midst of making one of the most important decisions of their life and your bashing of them like that shows alot of immaturity man. If you were in keith bryant's shoes, came to UM, saw what he saw, the past players working out, the atmosphere, Miami and the players at the camp, than you were offered, that wouldn't be hard to commit to.

Than what happened next, the games started and than our d-line was on display and that alone is enuff for a recruit to start questioning themselves. Than also, all an opposing coach has to do is turn on our game film and break it down to potential commits the difference between how we use our d-line guys and the difference in how they use their d-line guys than the loyalty ad Love that kid had for UM is still there but than they're starting to look at it as a business decision.

In the past, we never had problems bring in d-linemen and had goldie kept coach petri, our chances of getting more d-linemen would have gone way up. jethro franklin doesn't have a good resume when it comes to coaching d-linemen over the rest of the d-line coaches in Florida. Than when you add the scheme to it all and than all goldie and crew can tell the defensive kids their recruiting is, "look, we need you to come in and help us change/turn this defense around, you can be apart of helping us build this up".

All other schools have to do and tell these recruits is, look, i bet they said that to the last class that came in and all that happened is they ended up #116/117th in the country in total defense. Do you really think by you going their they're going to be that much better, not to say you're not a good to great player, but that's more of a sign that those defensive coaches don't know what they're doing, we're already a top 10 or top 5 defense which means the machine is already up and running, you already know the coaches here know what they're doing, over their, it's guess work and belief that they can get it done.

I myself know this is going to be the last legit class we can bring in before we see actually production on the football field. Going into year 3, it's going to be all result oriented. If the defense performs at a high level, won't take much convincing to get recruits to come in. But when you start losing recruits who already want to be here, losing keith bryant right now and if he doesn't come in is almost like losing a duke johnson type.

The difference is, duke came in because he knew he's be used and called upon where he could be real productive at the college level. This next wave of recruits are starting to really look at UM, because it's not all about playing time.

corpus is an idiot and so far not a whole lot of the top kids wanna be part of the U and the U hasn't beat anybody that matters anyway.
Arthur Brown is in K State, did the U beat K State?
He is just one example.
If the U can get and keep more of these kids then they will start beating the teams that matter.
You don't have to be an idiot devoid of reality to be a fan.

Butch Davis taking over at FIU is going to kill the U in recruiting.

LOL, now that would be funny if butch davis took over F.i.u. He'll definitely bring that team back with the quickness as well as a usF. Any school butch goes to in college, he'll bring em up for sure, he has the mental formula on how to do it, no guess work. Coach goldie as organized as he is, is not on butch davis level, but he's earning his stripes, but if butch comes marching into town across the way, that won't be a good look for UM.

With pete garcia there as well, he made the hard decision that's for sure, i thought mario was doing a real good job with that program, but pete garcia thinks big and he's not going to settle for F.i.u. being medicore, he wants it to be on the national stage, goldie better step his game up, because it's about to get real if butch comes walking back into town.

You all are a bunch of Dummies/

Butch Davis?

What did he do at UNC?

let me remind those who know how to read: He was Hc in a dirty program which was dirtier than even what happen with Sh*tiro. Butch is kryptonite. He's a hot potato. Sorry. But no can do.

If Butch lands in either USF or FIU it is definitively bad news for the canes. This man can recruit and build a program. I disagree with corpus, he would be a prize for either of those schools.

Just sayin- Duke johnson wanted to be part of the U. So did 104 other kids. They are young and will be coached up. The U will be alright/

This blog as are others is occupied by babbling bumbling sycophants like Calvin, gallo, Soldy and other hidden gators and seminoles who wish nothing but for Miami not to rebound because they know what happens when they do- all the attention then is taken away form their precious gayturds and sem-en holes. Give me a break.

Go back to your whiney Ivory Tower and thorw empty accusations and name-calling at someone else. You seem to be the idiot here.

Just sayin

we let it slip away....i said last week, fire golden and hire butch since his deal at tampa bay just wasnt going to work

call jimmy for AD position
hire butch who would shake up the defense for sure

UM is really going to have a hard time.....butch is the master at recruiting....

jeremy shockey
ed reed
andre johnson
santana moss
clinton portis
johnathan vilma
ken dorsy
reggie wayne
dan morgan
vernon cary
al blades
edgerrin james....on and on

lets see....shall I go to UM with the worst defense in ncaa or go with butch a hero at UM.....golden is done.

crockilla don't get your panties up in a wad, I was responding to a stupid comment by corpus. maybe you agree with him and think it's OK for the top recruits to go elsewhere and we will be fine just because we are the U. It's not OK and we are not fine, unless it's OK to be mediocre and unranked.
Thank God Duke wanted to come here, imagine how much worse we would be without him. And we also got Tracy and Malcom and a few others. But we lost out on a whole lot more and what we got is not enough.
These are not empty accusations or name calling, these are facts. Seems to me you are the one name calling.
As usual when you can't refute the facts all you have is name calling.

told ya.....but keith bryant wasnt that hard since his mom was dead against him going to UM....she is also FSU alumni......the problem in the age of instant social media is this starts to become a snow ball effect...more to come

golden truly f....cked up.....he was not to self sanction and play fsu and win...thats was the recruiting key, it would have stopped potential commitment in their tracks and allow them to re-evaluate...then you win in the OB...this gives you leverage....now he looks weak and scared and no top tier florida athlete will come....why?, fsu/fla/nd/lsu/ala all closing hard on these guys....think about it, who wants to play on this defense?

nash, it's still funny to me to see coach goldie complaining about the schedule as if we took k st. notre shame off, we'd be in the national championship hunt. And who has the crystal to know k st. or notre shame was going to be #1 when those games were scheduled, lol. So i guess goldie locking in Savannah St. will ensure us not playing a #1 team again. Does this guy know or understand that those are the games that we want. By the next time that happens, if he's still here like he claims he wants to be, he should have this team built up to where a schedule like that won't make a bit of difference.

Instead he's taking the traditional coward's way out. Hell, he might try and take Fsu off the schedule while he's at it. All we sayin is man up goldie, stop making us look softer than our defense already is, the players are not soft, that's for sure, it's the scheme and philosophy that is.

AL GOLDEN WAS NOT INVOLVED IN THE DECISION TO SELF IMPOSE.

golden was involved.....he had to sign off on it.....fsu would never go behind bobby bowden without his ok.....alabama would never without lou saban.....

it dosent pass the laugh test.....but it dosent matter, nobody is comming here after you lose your #1/#2 recruits....all the top guys will hear about it plus sanctions from all the other recruiting teams in their living rooms....parents will get an earful as well.....UM is done for next year....more to come

1981 - 2001
nothing before, nothing since

thats sad....#116 on defense @ almost 6000 yards.....everyone in this program needs to be f....cking fired....so if golden had no say so in self sanctions then shalala should fire dnofrio herself....wheres the harm in that?

Damn little jimmy what did you do snort a line instead of suck a dick for once?

First of all moron, FSU basically fired Bobby Bowden, so if you think the FSU administration wouldn't have done the same thing then you are as stupid as the words you type. And second, it's Nick Saban U moron not Lou Saban. That in itself shows how much you really know about the reality of things.

to all you dumb ass cane bashers and now the prophet"shallow gallo" & his side kick " calvin the ramblin" shout up!!! you guys dont coach nowhere in dade or broward or monroe county the u is not in trouble with recruiting alex collins decommited because he wants his friend to get a scholarship too but his friend sucks so coach G aint buying it and the same with kieth bryant he's trying to manipulate to get his homeboy a schollie but guess what theres no charity here he didnt do it for dukes team mate last year when the guy was trying to get one for his brother thats why they ended up in illinois so were good bring on the juco's baby

so calvin do you know how to coach defense? if you do wtf are you doing here blogging get out of your mommas house & become a coach somewhere anywhere;ooooh i forgot you cant you just bash on the ones that do it for living right right a55h**e
