Kevin Olsen's father says the four-star quarterback is "absolutely'' not wavering on his commitment to Miami Hurricanes

I just spoke to the father of Miami Hurricanes four-star quarterback recruit Kevin Olsen, who is in Coral Gables this weekend with his parents for his official recruiting trip.

Chris Olsen, who just retired as the Wayne Hills (N.J.) High School football coach after a storied 26-season career, said Kevin will "absolutely" still attend the University of Miami, despite today's announcement that offensive coordinator Jedd Fish has left to become the Jacksonville Jaguars' offensive coordinator.

"Al Golden is the main guy,'' Chris said of UM's head coach. "We certainly had a good relationship with Jedd and really liked him. And we certainly anticipate the next guy being very similar -- whoever it may be.

"We weren't expecting this, but it's a great opportunity for Jedd and everybody has to do what's best for them. Jedd had a great opportunity and he was the perfect person for the job. To be a coordinator in the NFL, those opportunities don't come around very often. There's never a good time, but if that's something to which you aspire, if it comes around you've got to take it.''

Chris Olsen, who is in South Florida with his wife, Sue, said Kevin had "a great day today and a great day Friday'' during his visit, and that he was taking a nap.

Concluded Olsen: "I think things will fall in place. I'm sure Al Golden has a plan.''

Couldn't find any video of the kid (Ufomba Kamalu)except one of him whooping it up with teammates. Is a really big kid. Has a heavy lower body which I hope means a powerful push. Anyone able to find any film on this kid?

Shannon can never go back to the 'U' as an assistant. He is a cancer behind the scenes. Was a lazy recruiter and untrustworthy to the rest of the staff. Not a good chemistry guy for the program. Soldinger is different. Loyal as the day is long and a great recruiter, coach and motivator. Name one kid who played at UM when he coached there and does not love Donny. Kehoe the same. A true Cane and well respected on campus, in Miami, and with the HS coaches in state. If Golden ever wants to win a championship, he better recognize what being a Cane is all about and get rid of his connection coaches. Can you say worst Miami defense ever? Figure it out. Mario? Watch your back with this guy. Like Shannon, he works in the shadows. Be careful what you wish for with this guy.

cane time.....the problem is any top OC will want the head coach position....they will not come and work under golden....remember golden is still a young guy and really unproven if you are honest....so what is the realistic outcome

1. a suspect head coach
2. mediocre OC....extremely thin pool now to draw from
3. worst DC in ncaa

I don't see how this combination works going forward..we have lost our best 2013 recruitment talent unless some surprise or miracle happens....how in the world will UM be even ranked in the top 25....what are the paths?

please advise.....

in all seriousness... who do u guys think will b the next O.C??? don't get me wrong I liked Fisch.. but i was sure we could do better..

Jim Gallo. Hello, Jim. I think you misunderstood my comments. I agree with you that any OC who comes in, or assistant for that matter, wants to be a head coach. No problem. Two points: First, it is the way one goes about to advance himself; and two, Staff chemistry is of the utmost importance when building a program and winning championships. A program needs great staff chemistry. That is a big reason the Canes won multiple championships in yearsgone bye. Soldinger, Kehoe, Stevens, Wannstadt, Johnson and Wise, to name a few, were all great working together. There was no selfishness amongst them and winning was the goal. They checked their egos at the door and got things done together. Hope this helped, Jim.

WHAT'S NEEDED NOW AS FAR AS A GOOD OC GOES IS A GOOD RECEIVER COACH FROM A GOOD PASSING TEAM. OC AND RECEIVER COACH GO HAND IN HAND AS DO THE OL COACH. I LIKE MARIO AND KEHOE AS FAR AS OL IS CONCERNED BUT WITH THE TALENT WE HAVE WE NEED A GOOD RECEIVER'S COACH/OC ALL IN ONE AND I SEE THIS TEAM WITH IMPROVEMENT ON DEFENSE WINNING 10/11 GAMES AND THE ACC. FSU WILL MISS SOME KEY VETERANS AND EMANUEL NEXT YEAR AND THAT WILL MATTER IN THE 4TH QT AGAINST US. LAST YEAR THE VETERAN QB WON THIS YEAR WE HAVE THE VETERAN QB. DON'T BE SHOCKED IF THE U BEATS BOTH THE GATORS AND FSU, IF THAT HAPPENS AND NO MAJOR INJURIES 12-0 IS NOT OUT OF THE POSSIBILITY.EVERYONE THINKS THE DEFENSE WILL BE THE SAME B.LLS..T! THE FACT THAT THEY ARE OLDER AND BEEN IN THE WAR WILL MAKE THEM BETTER. PORTER STAYING HEALTHY IS THE KEY. SUPPOSE THIS DEFENSE IMPROVES FROM 117TH TO LET'S SAY TOP 20 HOW MANY MORE WINS DO YOU THINK THAT WILL ADD UP TO? AT LEAST 3-4 WHICH WILL GIVE US 11 WINS MAX! FAU,SF,SAVANNAH ST(3) DUKE ,WF,GT,VA,PITTS(5) VA.TECH AT HOME HELPS A LOT, NC WITHOUT BERNARD HELPS ALSO(2) SO IT COMES DOWN TO THE TWO STATE SCHOOLS WIN ONE OF THE TWO = 11 VICTORIES BARRING NO MAJOR INJURIES. SEE MY POINT! SO DON'T WORRY ABOUT RECRIUTING AS MUCH EXCEPT FOR COLLINS AND BRYANT THE CANES WILL BE BACK IN 2013 AND THE NATION WILL KNOW IT. 2014!! MAYBE #6.

If Chud is available than hire him Al!! Chud is not doing it at the pro level so he needs to retool his craft at where else....The U!!! If Chud is not available you get the youngest O coordinator possible, who has guts!1

Ok I just realized Chud is not available....shows you that you should not do drugs!! Let's say Sonny Lubicks son is a candidate....than grab him!!

Some of you people are pieces of work. Morris is the starter next year. Olsen will not start and may even be redshirted. He'll have time to learn and get better. This isn't that hard to figure out.

News Flash;
Opponents in the ACC namely UVA, and Va. Tech have revamped their staff and now have all new OLine Coaches.
This is in addition to shakeups at GTech.

Miami is not unique with the Coach Changes that are taking place. We have to find as Cane Time said the right Chemistry for these personalities to Gel, so that the team can have the single purpose off and on the field to implement the Process that Coach G is working with.
We will be fine.
The 'U' will be the 'U'

I sure wish Coach Golden could find a role for Ken Dorsey before Chud takes him from the scout team with the Panthers to his new staff with the Browns...

Think Mr. Chicken (Gallo) is actually a Gator. He just tastes like chicken.

What a few here (un-named...for now) have to realize is there is one thing BEING a great player, another TEACHING that craft to others. MOST gifted athletes have problems relating that inner fire, the drive, the commitment to others.
There is a skill to teaching that many just don't possess.

I refuse to pledge a nickel to the university until she is gone. I have and will continue to support Athletics via The Hurricne Club, but again, until she is gone, sorry

If this was basketball, i'm all in for taking these guys from different countries, but taking a raw talent from another country in football, unless he was playing rugby somewhere prior, now we got Ufomba & Odogwu, this ain't georgetown.

Last night i was watching the Atlanta game, and ahmad brooks made about 3 plays, he batted the ball down twice and than drove matt ryans shoulder into the ground and i couldn't help but think, somewhere coach goldie and oach OH-NO are trying to use him as an example of how they envision our players on defense being, and i got sick. No disrespect to brooks, but he's not UM material and the level of defense we expect to play around here, batted balls mean you were to far to get a sack.

Also, the game last night ravens did i nthe second half was spread the big guys out and after that, it was all over for them. Than this might sound familiar, but you heard the commentators say during the ravens game: "in this defense, they'll give you the flats and the out routes, they're just not interested in given up the big play" this is what they said about that 3-4 defense. Again, it's a scared mans defense that doesn't understand talent.

Common sense for any real defensive coordinator is to first find out if he got a guy who can play True press man to man coverage, if he has 2 corners that can do that, than that'll leave him with 9 men he can scheme to wreck havoc on the opposing offense. Instead oach OH-NO, no matter who we play, all of our db's are back 10 yards as if we're facing all world receivers every game.
