Copy of Administrative Order by U.S. District Judge Moreno to review conduct of Nevin Shapiro's lawyer

Click on the link below for the exact document that U.S. District Judge Federico Moreno filed that has initiated a review of the conduct of Maria Elena Perez, the lawyer of former UM booster Nevin Shapiro.

"Recently, the Court has learned that Ms. Perez has engaged in conduct that warrants additional review by the Committee,'' it says in the order. "The specific issue is whether Ms. Perez acted unethically in accepting monies from the National Collegiate Athletic Association for her work on three depositions in the bankruptcy case of'' Shapiro.

A group of U.S. District judges will recommend by May 8 what to do, if anything, in this matter.

its an amendment to an original order that goes back to 2010....again this has nothing to do with UM's disciplinary issues....but keep dreaming and drinking the koolaid......I'll bet nothing happens to her.....the bankruptcy process allows the defendant attorney a wide range of questioning which the 3rd party law firm addressed during the NCAA review...they said specifically that not law was broken or that any of those questions she asked were outside on that process....that was the first thing they went after.....now the other issue in 2010 might get her...

as always...let it die and move forward....concentrate on the liquidation of good players from this team by golden and company

but where is UM's lawsuit that shalala went crazy over.....she has the notice of allegations....so what is she waiting for? I don't understand if UM is innocent like she said they are....lets get the ball rolling for damages....any lawyer can file this within 5 days....

westcoast: that's it blame the players...its all their fault right...that's why golden is 13-11 and #117 in defense....only 2 guys from dade for 2013..pathetic....Cristobal leaves....duke tweets that he and other players are concerned....4 top players decommit for UM...another cane record....

season ticket holders throw under the bus so golden can pad is record....Um play all nobodies except Florida for 2013...more damage to the brand

Many players from Gallos list were guys that were here from Shannon....basically dead weight....hence our 7-5 record tht last year and the firing of Shannon.

Jim Gallo - why won't Randy Shannon ever get another head coaching opportunity if he was a good coach at Miami?

I'll answer this one, that's a different argument. The point is, what was the purpose of getting rid of shannon when shannon was one oc away from consistently winning on a regular basis and being in the national title hunt. shannon was a 1st year headcoach, made of course some 1st year headcoaching mistakes, but if you ask me who was a better gameday coach, it was shannon. How is it that goldie has been a headcoach for 5 years prior to coming to UM and he's only 2 games(@13-11) better than what shannon was in his 1st 2 years.

Plus under shannon, we never played defense this bad. If most people are real on here, i remember in shannon's 1st and 2nd years after the Oklahoma & Georgia tech & Virginia games, people were calling for shannon's head. shannon came back and beat all of those teams because he actually improved the team. Here it is, for 2 years now, and countless games that where offenses have looked like that Georgia tech team or that Oklahoma or Virginia team that walked thru our defenses but since jedd fisch bailed goldie out by out-scoring the other teams, that part of goldie's coaching tenure is getting glossed over. Also, the floodgates/bank rolls have been wide open for goldie, 500K for an oc, under shannon that paid for at least 3 coaches.

Now here it is year 3 of the goldie era, shannon in year 3 of his tenure had to open a season with #18 Fsu, #14 Georgia tech, #11 Virginia tech and than #8 Oklahoma and came out 3 & 1 and embraced the challenge. In the meantime coach golide is over here crying about a shcedule that was soft this year and is hell bent on continuing to soften up the schedule at a private school, which means the more soft games, the less people are going to really show up.

Than add to that how bad the defense has been, one things for sure, shannon held his coaching staff accountable, if you wasn't getting the job done, you were outta their. Under goldie, all we keep hearing about clown 117th is how he's one of the best in that nation and how he'll challenge anybody when you look at oach OH-NO's track record, he keeps making excuses for him, but yet we keep seeing players get kicked off the team left and right as it's being termed "not following team rules". So we holding the players accountable but not the coaches.

We didn't have nothing against goldie when he came in, and we're not making this stuff up, this is all his own doing. I'm sure gallo will let you know the rest!

Shannon was a horrendous game day coach. The guy consistently misused timeouts and his teams caved under pressure.

Shannon was a good recruiter, but that's about it. That's why he won't get another hc job.

Yes, last year's defense was brutal.

I loved Shannon as assistant coach and recruiter. Thats all he had ability to do.

Head coach was WAY OVER SHANNON'S HEAD.

He couldn't develop players. PERIOD.

He also could convince good assistant coaches to come, which is another important recruiting job for HC.

Shannon will never get another shot at HC because he can't do a good job.

AG however will lead the Canes to winning seasons. Whether he leaves before an NC is to be decided. Then he'll end up at Notre Dame, Penn State or some other major program that can pay $5mil+ for their HC.

Miami, training grounds for future NFL stars and major headcoaching gigs. Its the way it is...

Except for Shannon.

Randy Shannons tenure as the head coach for the University of Miami was nothing short of a disaster.

He helped ruin the culture of the football program and disgustingly put out of shape, weak, mistake ridden, emotionless, non-dedicated players and teams on the field. Players who should have never been allowed to wear the "U" on their helmets.

Week after week fans would witness the same stupid mistakes in every phase of the game and they were quitters. Who will ever forget Lee Corso saying on national TV; "Miami quit against Virginia Tech" and he was right! This is undeniable proof as to pathetic coaching and leadership.

There was no kick-off or punt coverage with most every Kick-off return reaching midfield or better, 6 to 7 motion penalties every game...receivers running the wrong routes and quarterbacks throwing to the wrong places...running backs tip-toeing into the line...by the middle of the 3rd quarter those teams were so tired they simply wanted the games to end not caring if they won or lost and the only thing they did that compared to the Canes of old was talk a good game.

Who will ever forget when they ran out onto the field and stomped on the Louisville logo, to which Louisville stomped on them or the last Canes game ever to be played in the Orange Bowl and an average Virginia team not only knocked the stuffing out of them, but shut them out. I could go on and on and on.

So, for the Randy apologists...get real! He not only left he program berift of talent he also robbed them of their winning culture.

Thankfully, Al Golden agreed to take on this mess of a program and his thank you was to be hit with a two and a half year long NCAA investigation that has all but destroyed recruiting. Yet, in his second year he won the Costal Division and qualified the Canes for their second bowl game in a row. True canes fans (not the wingnut Gallo) should fall down on their hands and knees every night praying that Al Golden never decides to leave the Canes, because if that happens quoting Dandy Don...The party's over--turn out the lights!

#1 - how on earth do you know Shannon was a coordinator away from winning?

#2 - no the f*ck he wasn't.

#3 - he was only a first year had coach for his first year.

The statement; "Randy Shannon was one Offensive Coordinator away from consistently winning" is the most ridiculous comment I have ever read on this blog...and when you consider the non-stop stupidity offered by Gallo, that's saying something!

Shannon could not coach his way out of a jiffy john.

Shannon did not know the concept of conserving time outs

Shannons teams were weak a55

Shannon as a coach lost 3 bowls: against Cal, agsinst ND, and wisonsin. Even Coker won his last bowl against Nevada

Had he beat wisconsin, the U would have finished ranked top 10, and recruiting would have exploded. He lost in the state of fl with a nearly full Citrus bowl

If shannon was such a great coach, hed have a job by now as a hc not a frigin assistant

I agree with the UF zooker. Guys, UM alumn or not, U of Buffalo or U of LA Monroe or East Idaho State is where U go as a 1st time head coach(Arkansas st like Malzahn), not the U. Coker , same deal happened. We had so much talent that we won for 2=-3 years but he decimated the program, and then Shannon had the 1 good class in 08 and THEY DID NOT PAN OUT.Arthur brown sat on the bench 2-3 years here? he was the #1 lb in the country and starred at KST. Forston #1 DT in country, flamed out, Aldarious, Jacory, Tommy Streeter sat for 3 years, I mean the list keeps goin on and on.

I liked Randy. but 1 good recruit class(which turned out bad) and then afte that he left the program with avg talent at best.

With that said, we have our deepest offense possibly in UM history and thats a fact. Morris is a great QB who broke Bernies record. We know Duke broke portis's freshman record, we have added 3 stud TE's, we lost no wr's and added possibly the 2 best high school wr's griffin and coley, and the oline comes back in tact

Fine, maybe I have preached inthe past we were good(But I never stated 12-0,11-1, 10-2 , but this season should be 10-2 or better/.

And yes, we have 9 DTs. 4 were freshman last year and 2-3 of our best were hurt(porter) so U were stuck with 2-3 and no depth........Jac Briscoe was the 29th best player in Louisiana in 2012, and he redshirted. Earl Moore was a beast as a freshman, Daquan Ivery, O Komalu, Pierre, Robinson, Porter. Chick maybe plays some DT, Grimble was a 5 and 4 star(pending sites) out of Las Vegas nv in 2011 and should be ready to roll.

TEAM IS DEEP AND LOADED AND I WILL BE SURELY DOWN ON COACH GOLDEN IF AT MIN WE DONT GO 9-3. but it should be 10-2 or better and a shot at the acc champ

Scout.com has nick linder brandons brother as the 5th best C in the country. PS bashers, all 5 committs so far are so fla kids. Travis Rudolph the WR from Palm beach made the espn 150 watch list, Yearby is 5 star on scout.com, Darling is 4 star on Rivals at O LIne, and the Alin QB from Hialeah is a 3 star on scout. So we have a C, OG,WR,QB,RB.....called addin Depth. The #1 DT in the nation is from Hollywood Khlari Clark and the U are the favorites. Now, we add Sony Michel, 1 more WR, 1 TE, 1 more O lineman(McDermott also a 5 star), and the rest 10-12 guys all Defenders.

Class looking good so far but very early. But enough of the No So Fla kids stuff

/////////////////////////////////

Either you're over-looking the obvious or you don't know football. If you go back and look at the games lost once shannon got his recruits, pretty much all of the games were lost because of the offensive game plans. Defensively we weren't a 1980's, 1990's or 2000's defense but the defense didn't have to be and was good enuff to play against any team in the country, especially after coach petri got here. You tell me if shannon had jedd to go along with john lovett how many games do you think we'd win.

If it wasn't for jedd, many of you would be same goldie is a horrible headcoach, did shannon teams break any UM records for being the worst at anything like a goldie coached team has.

As far as shannon being a first time headcoach, shannon didn't have the luxury of coming in and bringing in a whole new staff, he was loyal to those that coached here with him and he wanted to keep some symmetry within the coaching staff so he kept a guy like tim walton and named him to be the d-co, kept a guy like coach hurtt over palmero(1st big mistake), kept a guy like fluzzi to be the tight-ends/special teams coach, fluzzi was a good tight-ends coach, terrible special teams coach. Than when you add how much money was alloted to shannon to bring in coaches, it just made sense for him to or anybody to go with who has been here.

Had shannon had the money to bring dirk koetter(Now the current Atlanta Falcons oc) or mark trestman(current Chicago bear headcoach) like he inititially wanted, would've been a whole nother ball game, so he was handcuffed. They wasn't going to give shannon 500K to bring in an oc.

So the point is, goldie had a chance to bring in whoever he wanted and start fresh and was given alot of money at his disposal to succeed and shannon left goldie with alot of nfl talent, so when people say shannon didn't develop players that's lie because in shannon's 1st 2 years, only 3(kenny phillips, calais campbell & spendcer adkins) players got drafted and 1 wasn't even a starter. After that, shannon brought the talent back in and UM had the most players drafted in one of the drafts or was at the top of players drafted.

If this james coley guy doesn't put points on the board, if we're going to rely on a bend but don't break defensive scheme to try and win games, it's going to be a long season.

The funny thing is the same mistakes Shannon was responsible with mark garbage a@@ whipple is golden is responsible for oh no.golden had at least three timeouts miss functions this year, what talent has golden developed? I know he has kicked a lot of players off so where has developed this talent. I will tell you Jaquan jarret. Most of you so called football fans don't know about that one. Our players we dropping balls left and right and then on defense out of position all the time. Golden and Shannon are like what and what. For some reason he gets a pass though. We better do something this year because we are gonna lose Morris and the oline. There was a rumor that testeverde was color blind. Maybe that's why he threw all those ints in the fiesta bowl. Gino looked like garbage against bama in the sugar bowl. There are othe qb's at um none for ints in the big game with much better teams than jacory had. I'm sure you all will make excuses for them to.

Golden came to this program when it was in an absolute free fall and only now is it starting to turn. One coordinator doesn't make the difference between Shannon and Golden, the guys are worlds apart. Golden is a program builder who is building from the ground up and Shannon was just a guy in over his head.

Maybe Shannon is a better coordinator than Dnofrio, but that doesn't mean he's a better head coach than Golden.

[]_[] know what's beaUtifUl aboUt U cane fans slUgs ?

the mere fact that []_[] are all spouting off, chest puffed up, jacked up on Cafe Con Leche, butchering the English langUage yaking dUh U empty smack about THE Final 4 and BCS within this next Calendar Year...

this too

Gators have never won a baseball national championship.

that's never as in ever.

why you even talking baseball?

Why is Duke Johnson and Herb Waters on Gallo's list as being Shannon's players? This is year 3 for Golden and those guys were true freshmen last year. Also, chickillo was initially recruited by Shannon but kept his commitment to The U after Golden was hired. So if Golden keeps his commitment, Shannon gets the credit but if he goes elsewhere like Teddy Bridgewater, than Golden gets the blame? Sounds like you guys want to paint a no win situation for Golden.

As Shannon, he was a horrible head coach but he raised the graduation rate of our players and there was only one arrest in his tenure. Plus, he seemed to be the only guy on his staff that told his players to steer clear of Shapiro. Shannon is a good man, a good defensive coordinator, and just in over of his head as the head coach.

shannon left golden with good defensive players...

DE Shayon Green
DE Anthony Chickillo
LB Jimmy Gaines
CB Brandon McGee
S Kacy Rodgers
LB Tyrone Cornelius
S AJ Highsmith
S Vaughn Telemaque
DT Curtis Porter
DT Luther Robinson
LB Ramon Buchanan

players on defense that left because of golden:

DB Devont'a Davis

DB Keion Payne

dnofrio then goes #117 out of a 120 ncaa ranking....all time cane record....

shannon stats...tell the REAL story.....

2010 - randy shannon

total offense - 5499 yards / 44 TD's - #31 rank
total defense - 4203 yards / 37 sacks for 241 yrd loss / 16 INT's - #22 rank

2011 - golden

total offense - 4533 yards / 41 TD's - #70 ranked
total defense - 4319 yards / 23 sacks for 118 yrd loss / 6 INT's - #45 ranked

2012 - golden

total offense - 5282 yards / 45 TD's - #36 ranked
total defense - 5837 yards / 13 sacks for 86 yrd loss / 11 INT's - #116 ranked

funny thing about stats......you cant argue your way around them.....too bad for AL golden...even his laughable schedule wont add much to his own stats....because he padded 2013 the fsu/florida games have been elevated..he loses those, he is completely done.......

Gallo,

Good for you, more stupid and irrelevant statistics in your failing effort to degrade Al Golden.

You posted; "funny thing about stats......you cant argue your way around them", which any imbicile knows (other than you) that variables must be introduced for the stats to mean anything that are never present in your ignorant attacks on Coach Golden.

Enjoy yourself nit-wit as the season will soon be here and that is precisely when you will disappear from this blog or change your screen name like most of you cowards do after being proven wrong.

shannon recruited all those guys except herb waters (mistake)......golden wasn't even here then:

duke johnson - 9/20/2010

22 Kacy Rodgers - shannon

please list the variables on all the stats.....what are they that the NCAA left out, lol...

please advise.....

excuse after excuse....of course blame everything on randy shannon.....everything al golden does he is not responsible for.....

look al golden and mark dnofrio are not the answer to UM getting back in the hunt for a national championship....since that is the goal I personally care about since winning the ACC coastal division is more of an insult than anything.....

the pattern will always be.....al golden didn't have this...al golden wasn't responsible for that.....al golden can do no wrong.....lol

I'm not sure why people keep saying a shot at the acc championship, that should be automatic, who in the acc is more talented than us, nobody. It's all going o come down to coaching and game planning. Just like it did this past season against Fsu, shannon beat Fsu twice in his 4 years here, he beat them his first year with kyle & kirby and he beat them in 2009 when j70 took over. Right now, goldie is 0 for 2 against Fsu.

IS coach goldie in over his head. If a person doesn't realize those bad offenses run by nix and mark nipple affected our defense, than they don't know football. So shannon was just a coordinator away from having a real solid team consistently. Under shannon, the defenses consistenly got 3 & outs under clown 117th, teams are driving up and down the field limiting our offensive possesions and we rarely get off the field on 3rd downs.

People cried about the game against ohigho st. in 2010, had we had any type of real oc, we would've won that game and most of the games on that schedule if not all of them but that sabatoge(kirby lo-cutt & snitchpiro)fix was in.

If somebody says "maybe shannon is a better d-co than clown 117th" either they don't know football or they're on that good stuff, it's not even close. To try and say "maybe shannon is better as a d-co"
shows the disdain they have for shannon. Again, is goldie in over his head, he better hope james coley is worth that 500K, jedd's not here to bail him out now.

People are smoking giving goldie all this credit when we have a D-3 defensive scheme. The amount of yards given up by our defense last year is not suppose to happen at UM no matter what.

The lie keeps being told that the teams shannon headcoached didn't develop talent when it's clear, players started getting drafted again under the shannon tenure and he got us all the way back to having a 2nd round pick in brandon harris, the same player that bolted on goldie cause he wasn't going to stay here to be an irrelevant db in zone 90% of the game and watch his draft status drop to the 4th or 5th round.

jaiquawn jarrett barely hanging on in the nfl right now, and Muhammad wilkerson is solid right now but nothing special, we'll see how he turns out. Smae with Ahmad brooks, nothing special, but solid. We will see what jethro franklins d-line does in year 3 under his training. curtis porter was already showing signs of being dominant under shannon, we'll see how guys like 3g, pierre, grimble, corey king(who will be stout) & ricardo williams look, this will determine whether jethro knows what he's doing or if he'll continue to get shut out in recruiting!

I guess you're still blaming Golden for Jeffrey Brown getting kicked off the team? He only raped a girl and took a plea bargin to avoid prison. Damn Al Golden for not wanting him to represent the University of Miami! Lol. Your blind hatred for Golden is no different than the guys who can see no wrong in Golden. An open mind is a terrible thing to waste.

There's no maybe about it. Shannon is obviously a better defensive coordinator than onofrio (no D) but there's also no maybe about Golden being a better Head Coach than Shannon. Calvin, you're entitled to your opinion but your not entitled to your own set of facts. Stop trying to pass off your opinions and speculations as fact. I'm sure you're giving your opinion when you said that Brandon Harris left because he didn't want he didn't want play zone 90% and see his draft stock drop to the 4th or 5th round. Also, ask the players who played under Shannon about how they were developed. Jordan Futch said that Shannon played favorites and would put players in the old women's basketball locker room instead of the locker room with the rest of their teammates. He said that guys knew that they weren't going to be given the chance to start no matter what they did in practice so they stopped giving it their all. This is the same kid who credited Shannon for showing him how to be a man and being there for him when he had a family tragedy. He was just being honest. Shannon was not head coach material at that time. Hopefully for him, he learned a lot in his year off to better himself (going to visit other universities and seeing how they ran their programs from organizing the practices right down to security guards).

Jim....Jeffery brown is not on the golden casualty list....good try.....

I go by the stats...its not personal at all, I never was a golden fan ever....I always though it was a rushed pick....how do you got from ESPN report that Jon gruden is about to sign with UM and in the same week or so end up with al golden?

like urban meyer says....you basically 3 yrs to win

this brand...."The U" is a marque top of the line logo with tremendous scale...its the IBM of football....

we need a name brand coach and DC...impact names

Gallo,

Laughing..you dummy, the NCAA doesn't include any comparative variables in their stat packages relating to Coach Golden and Shannon.

It is clear you have no idea what I am talking about and your ridiculous and intellectually infantile Golden/Shannon stats comparison as a measuring stick concerning the job these two men have done is hiliarious for the even mildly educated.

The only true comparable is they both coached football at the same university.

If a true and reliable study was done to compare Golden and Shannon the amount of variables one would have to factor in would be in the hundreds.

As Mark Twain once famously and accurately observed: "There are lies, damned lies, and worst of all statistics"

PS: Someone please 'TRY' to educate Gallo as to who Mark Twain was.

why is golden a better head coach? there is nothing in the stats that support that statement:

shannon had better:

1. offensive numbers
2. defensive numbers
3. better recruiting
4. little to no player turmoil compared to golden

who said they did? all I am asking you is you make a statement that dismissed the stats because of variables....I'm asking...what are these variables that need to be taken into consideration in stat comparisons?

so list them...

Toughest Schedule
(Teams with at least 9 Inter-Division games) Sorted
on Cumulative Opposition

#49 Miami (FL) Past Opposition = Wins 70 Losses 62
Percentage 0.53030303

here is one....pretty weak isn't it?....so golden has worse stats with a easier schedule....sorry green pea class 2016....

Ladies and Gents there's Jim Gallo, talking like a dummy again!!!!

Shannon was a HORRIBLE game day coach....a true deer in headlights. Shannon failed because his Northwestern recruiting job blew up in his face....with the exception of Sean Spence. Jacory Harris statistically was the second bet ever....however....he played for 4 years....of course your going to rack up the numbers.J12 simply threw WAY to many interceptions and that is the reason we went 7-5 that year leading to Shannons departure. I personally liked how J12 played the game....unfortunatly....The U has been the BUTT of many jokes because of his INTS. At the end of the day....you all can sit here and spin it ANY way you like. The truth of the matter is that......

THIS YEARS TEAM WILL BE BETTER THEN LAST...AND POSSIBLY PLAY IN THE ACC CHAMPIONSHIP. I CAN ASSURE YOU WE WILL WIN AT LEAST 10 GAMES THIS YEAR...ONE OF THEM AGAINST THE TURDS.

Mark twain wasa racist

Tallycane:

And you're a moron posing as a Canes fan.

Below is your list from the first page of comments on this thread. I thought "jerrery brown" was just a misspelling of Jeffrey Brown. I've never heard of "jerrery brown". Also, Jon Gruden was never coming to coach UM. That was all wishful thinking on Miami's part. Sure Kirby Holcutt traveled to Tampa to meet with Gruden to gauge his interest in the job but Gruden was also linked to the Arkansas job, the Tennessee job, etc. Unfortunately, Jorge Milian on his blog, ran with the Gruden will formally accept the position of head coach at the University of Miami and set us all up for a huge letdown.

You have Jeffrey Brown listed as one of the players who left because of Golden in your post a few spots above your post saying that he's not listed as a Golden casualty. Again, he raped a girl and took a plea bargin. He has no business being on any of your lists. No college should allow him on their campus, let alone allow him to represent their university by being on their football team. How would you feel about your daughter's safety if her college didn't dismiss a student convicted of a sex crime that took place on their campus (his dorm room)?

Who is this moron Gallo. Seriously I didnt know they had the intenet @ mental institutions. No offense to the other folks there. I dont know whether to laugh or pity him.
