Video of staged touchdown pass to Canes receiver Malcolm Lewis during Saturday's spring game

OK, so it wasn't exactly original. But the Canes still provided a nice moment for fans and receiver Malcolm Lewis on Saturday when they scripted a 75-yard touchdown pass to him from Stephen Morris.

Miami's defense let Lewis catch the pass uncovered and then jogged behind him to celebrate with him and the rest of the team in the end zone.

Nebraska's football team did something similar last week for a young boy battling cancer.

Lewis, who dislocated his ankle in what really was a gruesome season-ending injury at Georgia Tech last September, has been ahead of schedule in his rehab. He said last week he expected to be ready for contact in the fall.

Scripted as the touchdown to Lewis may have been, the emotions teammates and coaches shared with Lewis in the end zone were real.

Calvin and Gallo will probably start an online petition for Onofrio's resignation over the offense getting the better end of the defense in this scrimmage!

looks like about 75 people watched the scrimmage

Alot more people there then expected...North side was roped off.

Harry High School Garbage... Sure, a little kid with Cancer, but this ? For a non-life threatening busted ankle ? PurePussification.

Saban, Howard, Jimmie, Erickson, Butch, Soldy, Vagotis and even Clappy would never go for this mocked staged make-up feel good rah rah silly crap.

Ohhhhh, but []_[] will spoon it up, drink the Kool-Aide and axe for seconds and thirds.

What's next ?

Everyone gets a game ball too ?

Hahaha, bro, you're commenting on a UM blog in the Miami Herald about a spring game scrimmage! And using cutesy U font too! You know nothing you say can make up for the fact that you're that big a loser, get off the Hurricanes' nuts fanboy!

Its a stupid spring game. Meaningless end to grueling practices that Golden already said accomplished their goals.

People getting all upset over a coaches desire to reward a player for making a comeback. Good for him. Good for the team. And F--- the haters who just can't get off their armchair, put down the donuts and stop being morons criticizing a stupid spring game.

Do you know how appreciative that kids parents feel right now....the message it sends ut to recruits....THE U IS FAMILY....ALWAYS WAS....AND ALWAYS WILL BE.

All I know is he's worked his but off to get to this point, and it shows Al really respects his effort. Don't forget Al was on the field holding Lewis when it happened. So I feel Lewis is one of Goldens guys and he threw him a bone, no harm done in my eyes.

Cool Deal for the Kid! Golden wanted to symbolicly get the kid in the deal from a mental standpoint...let him know they are going to be counting on him and expect big things from him...

Good move on Golden's Part!

Bleeding Orange, Green & White!

People on here are so crazy. It hurts absolutely nothing what AG did for Lewis. There are no hidden messages or intentions .Stop making a big deal about it and looking for something negative about it. Go Canes

it looks ridicules and amateurish....its a gimmick like the tie and the cane walk....

but then again the old time cane teams are dead.....this is what alumni have to look forward to....sad

everyone gets a ribbon today....

lmao at the people that have nothing better to do than to troll a video of a td that was in a practice... sure its the spring "game" but its just a practice, who cares what plays they run or do not run while they practice? oh wait, some loser in Gainesville that has nothing better to do than read a Miami blog on a Miami newspaper's website... Get a life losers!

met him in the end zone ... Lewis is a good guy

Looks like there is a lot of womenless posters on this board or they are a relation to Randy Shannon.

other than the made up TD did dUh U do anythang ?

Hey, CUE THE VIOLINS: Get lost before I find out where you live, you A*S CLOWN.
They did it for fun, you sorry school girl.

F**K YOU and all the rest of the haters.

You'd better keep hating, because SOON, and I mean VERY SOON, you're gonna be hating even MORE and MORE, you'll see.

For now, get lost you F**KING A-HOLE!

Nice moment...hope thus kid can bounce back.

IT thugz in the house.....biatch!!!! (or is it biotch...oh well, whatever...)

Maybe Gallo can trade his last place ribbon in for a couple centimeters that he so desperately wants.

Good move by Coach, cements the team feeling, it will pay dividends during the season when things get tough, and they will. But they will pull the straps tight and fight like a team. Haters have another beer and STFU.

Good move on Golden's part. I was at the game and the crowd went wild. Great feeling welcoming Lewis back..

Wish i could have been there....family weekend at mudmuckers, com .will be there in sept when it counts though. Dont let the D get U down....they are playing against one of the best offenses in the game with likley the best O-line. When Sept 7th rolls around and we run into that weak gator o-line , it will seem easy. And to the haters...at least we had a spring game. I bet those recruits at the orange and blue game were like" what the f*@k is this". And good for lewis....

Do you know how appreciative that kids parents feel right now....the message it sends ut to recruits....THE U IS FAMILY....ALWAYS WAS....AND ALWAYS WILL BE.

This fine comment and other's like it are why, at THIS moment in time, whether the Canes end up 10-2 or 8-4, THIS HC is the RIGHT HC.
Hopefully our DC will get on board.

U betcha Bob. This is something missing the past bunch of years. In fact, from the beginning, though our W-L record hasn't been off the charts, our never give up attitude has been there. As you said, this only sets it in stone now, and the future.

Sorry, I meant to say from the moment of the Al Golden hire, the never give up thing has been tangible.

That was a great moment

A55holes like Gallo I just wish I knew who he was so I could find his sorry pathetic worm self

Gatir pu55ies: be afraid.

Be very very afraid. Very afraid. This team looked good. Morris was pin point even Williams was good.

By the way you stuoid morons... Did you see the attendance at the gaytr blue and ornage game?

Dont talk garbage when you are garbage

Malcolm Lewis jogged at a pretty good pace, and there was absoluttely NO Limp.

I SAW ENOUGH THIS SPRING TO POINT OUT THAT CLEARLY COACH GOLDEN MADE SPRING PRACTICE FUN AND THE PLAYERS WORKED HARD AND THEY LOOK GOOD. LONG WAY TO GO BUT THERE WAS NO SERIOUS INJURIES AND THE GUYS REALLY GET ALONG GREAT WITH EACH OTHER. YOU HATERS BETTER HOPE THE DEFENSE DOES NOT IMPROVE BECAUSE THIS TEAM CAN REALLY BE SPECIAL. LOOK FOR ANY EXCUSE TO BASH ALL YOU WANT BUT THE TALENT IS THERE AND THEY ONLY HAVE TO PUT IT TOGETHER. I WILL GO SO FAR AS TO SAY THIS. "BARRING ANY MAJOR INJURIES THE CANES WILL BEAT ONE OF THE TWO FLA OR FLA.ST. BOOK IT!!" I ALSO SEE 10 WIN SEASON! AGAIN BARRING ANY MAJOR INJURIES. ACC COASTAL? I THINK SO!! BUT MUST AVOID LOSS TO NC. DO THAT AND YES ACC COASTAL CHAMPS! FOR YOU HATERS REMEMBER OF THE RETURNING QB IN ACC ONLY CLEMSON QB IS RATED BETTER THAN MORRIS AND AS FAR AS THE 3 STATE SCHOOLS MORRIS IS CLEARLY THE BEST AND MOST EXPERIENCED. THIS IS WHAT WILL GIVE THIS TEAM THE EDGE IN CLOSE GAMES. GO CANES!! GREAT WORK THIS SPRING!

Nothing like the Spring for cane fan
Campfires, story telling, cook outs and now everyone can score touchdowns.
Fun and games are here
Spring and Summer the best times of the year for a cane
Be careful what you say though
UMike and some other multiple personality fool will track you down and beat you up
Nothing like an internet tough guy and thug
The fans act tough on the net, the players have fun and everyone can score on the field
Maybe this is a precursor of things to come
Everyone will be able to score on the canes again
Touchdowns for everyone
Enjoy!
