Hot time in MIami: Gators at Canes in football: noon on Sept. 7 on ESPN.

University of Miami tailgaters might want to get to sleep early on Friday, Sept. 6th. That's because the highly anticipated Florida Gators at Miami Hurricanes football game was announced for a noon kickoff at Sun Life Stadium on Saturday, Sept. 7 on ESPN -- upsetting fans who would rather have a night game.

A night game would certainly be a great draw and the event to party around at Sun Life. UM would get heavy-duty exposure. And let's face it, night games are always more fun (unless you're on deadline or savor getting broiled outside).

Turns out that ABC has NASCAR from Richmond, Va., that night and ESPN is broadcasting the Notre Dame-Michigan football game in prime time. A game has not yet been announced for the prime-time ESPN2 slot.

"We requested and lobbied ESPN for an evening slot for the game vs #BeatUF.'' tweeted UM athletic director Blake James. "Unfortunately, they were unable to accomodate.''

I just got off the phone with ESPN spokesman Mike Humes, whom I asked about the noon start.

"Essentially, we looked at all the options and this was the best available window for the game,'' Humes said. "We average probably around three million viewers for that time slot. So it wasn’t like, 'Let’s put the worst game on at noon.' The noon window does really well with fans.

"We view this as a great matchup. Scheduling games is like putting together differrent puzzles with different time zones and commitments, and this was the best window.''

UM AD James also tweeted this: "espn/abc wanted to take game national 3:30 slot is regional coverage."

Humes said the 3:30 p.m. ABC game is Oregon at Virginia.

In other Canes football news, the Aug. 30 season opener at Sun Life Stadium against FAU will kick off at 8 p.m. Aug. 30 -- a Friday -- and will be aired by ESPNU.

Wow.. now cAlvin is trying to discredit Al Golden's tenure at Temple. Have you ever been outside the 305 dude? You obviously have no clue about Philly. You try to make it sound like Temple is located in a desirable location (basically in the heart of Philadelphia). You are a moron! Temple's campus borders one of the worst neighborhoods in Philly. If hearing nonstop police sirens and subway trains going by the campus and getting mugged or having your dorm robbed is desirable than yes you are correct. You truly are one ignorant dumbarse.

Btw, still no commercial featuring Donna Shalala saying that UM was recruiting a different kind of athlete. Funny how you won't tell us what you meant by Coach Hurlie Brown at least having credibility from a social standpoint. Don't worry we can read between your lines. You're coming off as prejudice and a liar

Here we go again.. cAlvin please give us your source(s) or STFU. Seriously, you are only entitled to your opinion, not your own set of facts.

Under coach goldie, had he been able to show any promise of being a solid coach against teams like k st. & notre shame, the headline for this blog would have never exsisted. In my opinion, espn is doing us a favor by not allowing us to be the build-up to some night game like they did with notre shame last year. Thye know righ now under coach goldie, this is not Hurricane football and the type/style of football coach goldie is trying to implement here is not good for t.v. ratings.

I'm glad we're playing this game when we are, at high noon, until coach goldie fields a Miami team that people are use to seeing, these t.v. networks are not stupid, they don't want to risk the chance of coach goldie not holding up his end of the bargain again on national t.v. and than making excuses after the game. This is the part where people keep thinking clown 117th needs more time but don't realize, it's deeper than more time and having "stronger & better players".

That style of defense being implemented here is boring as hell and does not bring excitement. At Miami we're use to standing up when the defense gets on the field, that's when a Miami crowd is the hypest, celebrate the offensive points, but it's the defense that really moves the crowd, this should be another lesson learned for the goldie slurper's!

Calvin...you couldn't have said it any better.....everyone forgets that golden was salivating for the job.....he would have taken it whether he knew before hand about sanctions or not.....

problem is now you couldn't get him out with dynamite....2 million with wife loving the good life in coral gables/Miami/south beach and all those fun days shopping at Merrick village.....

Ill take a shot at golden at temple...anyone can take a 1-11 team to either 9-4 or 8-4. look at his wins against either 1-11 or 2-10 teams....2009/2010 there were 2 wins each of those years where he barely won by 2 points.....incredible

take those wins out and he goes 7-6 / 6-6.....just like he did the first 5 years ate temple......and just like he is doing at UM

I say get the best Kicker you can find....go back to running into the tunnel / holding hand over ear and the "george jeffereson".......

take the 15 yards after each touchdown.....good special teams will have defense at 20/25 yard line.

whats so funny Calvin is the old cane teams practiced EVERY DAY at 1:00 with NO WATER.....sam jankovich was afraid that a player would die, lol

you got to be kidding me complaining about a game at 1:00?

Again....only a disgruntled ex employee, coach or player....or BOOSTER...would spend as many days, hours and words on this blog writing entire worthless dissertations about our football team. I mean AT LEAST the Turd fans keep it short and simple....they know what the deal is....not Gallo or Calvin...these two have an axe to grind for sure. And at the end of the day....IT MAKES ME HAPPY to know they do. It will be fun this season reading their garbage as The Canes handled their business.

Like I said a few weeks ago....I have a direct contact to a player on the team and according to HIM....everything is ALL GRAVY inside the locker room and Hecht Athletic Center. This team is unified and ready to work....AG & Staff are doing a great job. I was also told that he expects Miami to have a top 5 recruiting class as long as nothing "horrible" comes from the NCAA in a month or so.

Got to say that if those Gaturd stats are true over the last 20+ years, credit must be given where credit is due. That's pretty impressive. But, if it weren't for the few years in the mid 90's and the last few years, Miami would be right there or even better.

Go Canes !

I agree as well.....have no problem giving them their due....they do deserve credit for many accomplishments. The problem is they got pretty arrogant about it during Tebows tenure.

I have no problem bragging about a team from Florida...

Marco,

1. UF hasn't played 1 major conference non_SEC team away in decades
2. They always play 3or 4 cripples at home that jacks up those home win stats

Only thing that counts is ships and they won't see one again soon, unless little Timmy regains eligibility

Agreed, but we were the ones that were arrogant during our incredable two decade run from '83-'02. And I must say, it's truly better to be the arrogant ones high fiving with other Cane fans those great years than not. Just saying, as much as Turd fans are a pain in the butt and continue to be, I'm sure other fans thought of us in the same way. And boy, those were some FUN days !

Go Canes !

I agree on what other fans think. I think the gators never reached anywhere near our status. History will show that Tebow was a fluke at UF---dominant qbs won for a while in college fb----young, tebow, newton. Defenses have gotten better. a qb like those guys might still be able to win one, but i think you'll need to throw much better than they could to win now.

This kickoff time shows just how little respect the U has now, to be moved for a NASCAR race. This is an awful spot. But fortunately it will draw because the Gator Turds will show up. It really doesn't matter we aren't at Florida's level yet so as soon as we get this lose behind us the better, At least we won't have to wait around all day to get our beating. Yes I'm predicting we lose. I think we will do well, but the team isn't going to be mature enough this early for major talent.

LOL, this might be the only way oach OH-NO gets fired, if his wife says something, no matter how close they all are as friends, a decision is going ot have to be made. But you can see what coach goldie wants to do is, try his best to build a powerhouse offense to cover for his boys flaws and keep buying more time, which is the only reason i see why we keep offering all these offensive guys. More wide receivers come next year as well and o-linemen. I'm happy for art kehoe but until they play in games, it just looks good that we're reloading at the o-line spots.

To bad we haven't been loading up on d-linemen to with them. We'll start getting d-linemen from other states that coach goldie can feed that b.s. to of jethro and clown 117th, and Muhammad wilkerson was a 1st round draft pick and this and that, but going into year 3, talent is not the problem, it's a combination of scheme and asking guys on defense to put on to much weight to fast. The real tell tale sign this year, keep an eye on tyriq mccord, he was productive as a freshman, coach goldie came out and said "nobody can tell me that tyriq at 245lbs will not be a better player than he was at 218" oh really now, so we're going to balloon that man up in 1 year to 245lbs, that's over 25lbs.

To those who want to know what that feels like, go and run a 40 yard dash right now, than rest for 10 to 15mins, getting ready to run another 40 yard dash, but this time grab a 25lb weight/plate and see what the difference in your 40 time is. If anything, 15lbs would been more than enuff, let than man gradually grow into his frame.

Oh, the place will be a full house anyway but the TV number will suck. No one watches the early game, I know I rarely do. It's that number that gets you the big stage.

Ha iha ha ha h
Gator pu555ies

They talk to us about living in the past

But they. Pick 1990 as the year

1990 ga tech nc acc
1991 the U nc acc
1992 alabama played vs the U

Still no gators to be found!

1993 fsu
1994 nebraska played who? The U
1995 nebraska
Still no gators anywhwre...
Tommy frazier still running...........

Oh wow. 1996 undeserved but still chumps

1997 michigan
1998 tennessee
1999 fsu

But lets play your game, gator dummy, and you see, since 1990

UM 3
UF 1

So lets not get our depends too moist over 1990 ok?

Because facts dont lie... You are the dooshiest most overrated program in cfb

Another stupid post by cAlvin. If a guy puts on 25 pounds in a year, you don't think it's going to be with an increase in muscle and strength? Telling somebody to go run a 40 yard dash and wait 15 mins and try again with a 25 pound plate is not even close to being the same thing. Thats apples to oranges. You're assuming (which you do a lot) that he puts on 25 pounds and doesn't add any strength or continue to work on his speed.

We all need a nickname like "Ice".

But, if it weren't for the few years in the mid 90's and the last few years, Miami would be right there or even better.

Go Canes !

more Canes ifs, buts, wouldas, couldas and shouldas...

The following dispels all the mistruths...

Thank God for Al Golden...America's best young football coach.

"Big Al's" leadership is extraordinary when taking a team with an ingrained losing culture, players who simply were not talented and the worst NCAA investigation since SMU was given the death penalty and against all odds still wins.

The college football world is abuzz with what Al Golden has achieved so far and know that once the NCAA penalties are behind the Canes "Big Al"..."The Golden One"...will be brining even more National Championships to Miami.

Even the great Jimmy Johnson, former coach of the National Champion Miami Hurricanes and Super Bowl winning coach and considered the best in the field at evaluating talent is in awe of and loves "The Golden One" and has stated many times that "Big Al" will clean up the horrible mess he was left with and once again place Miami atop the college football world.

Jimmy Johnson is football royalty and he is prepared to hand his crown to the great "Big Al Golden".

When Golden took over Temple they where moving from the Big East to the Maac Conference. Unless you are saying the Mac conference is on the same level as the Big East. Al Golden should have dominated the Mac conference. Temple had better athletes then all of the Mac teams since they were moving down in competition. If you think the area bad around Temple. Try the area around Notre Dame. Stop making excuses for this coach and his staff. When you make excuses. This is a disservice to the U , the fans and quality football in general.

Canesallnight you are jusy making a generalization that because a team is in a certain conference that they have a certain level of ability . Not true. Temple had not won anything in over 100 years and you can spin it any way you want but it was an accomplishment achieved by AG but I guess you know more than all the college football analysts , coaches , ADs and everyone else who acknowledged it . Notre Dame is a brand of it's own not even close to the same thing . And you have abslutely no idea what kind of athletes Temple had at the time because like everyone else in America you were not paying any attention to Temple . So the disservise in my eyes is you ranting about something you know nothing about. I friggin hate negativity especially .Go Canes

Temple didn't "move" from the Big East to the MAC. They were kicked out of the Big East for being uncompetitive. You don't know what you're talking about. Yes Temple had the largest budget in the MAC but they didn't have better athletes than the rest of the MAC until his recruiting classes. Just look at Temple's recruiting rankings before Golden and then after his hiring. BTW, I went to a game at South Bend in 2001, that's not even close to being as bad an area as where Temple is in Philly. Go to Philly for a week long training class and see how bad the area around Temple is.

All coach goldie did was use his resources better than the coaches before him, temple has for the most part been looked at as a basketball school, the fan base didn't care to much about temple football, mostly penn disgrace st. The area that goldie is in has many good football players that come out of their, they just wasn't going to temple and alot of them got out of the state. I'm not going to say coach goldie didn't do a solid job of organizing and setting a strong foundation for temple football, that he did do, but he didn't make them some top notch program and judging by the way he coaches and manages this team, right now, this team is nothing special either, is it on solid ground, yes, of course because coach goldie has the full support of the administration and a coaching staff that where none of the coaches were forced on him so their is unity amonst the coaching staff although, jedd & young mcdonald and crew rolled out for a reason.

The unity amongst this coaching staff will only be for so long if goldie is going to show biasness again by trying to get on the offense and not getting on the defense like he did last year. After the notre shame and k st. losses caoch goldie said "i didn't expect us to come out and be flat like we did" that statement was directed at the offensive side of the ball, because we basically hadn't played defense all year.

Do i think coach goldie is a better headcoach than shannon, heck no. The only edge coach goldie has over shannon is, coach goldie got a chance to be a headcoach somewhere else before coming to Miami, had shannon had a chance to do the same before taking over at UM, we would've been playing for a national championship by now now, almost got their in 2009, but to much division in the camp. You look at what shannon did as a headcoach and the hand he was dealt vs what coach goldie was handed, it's not even close who did a better job.

How come shannon didn't have this drama associated with recruiting like we keep seeing under coach goldie. i had nothing against coach goldie coming in, but when a coach starts trying to blame the players over their scheme, i got a problem with that when it's coming from coaches who don't have a proven track record of coaching a unit/s to a dominant level.

This 3rd year is going to show alot of whether coach goldie is going to continue to be a mediocre headcoach or if he's going to make that jump up and if he has the ability to make that jump up and ahve this team back where it belongs. The investigation i'm sure has hindered the last 2 recruiting classes some, but for some reason it's not hindering the offensive recruits, so is it the investigation that's hindering recruiting or certain coaches and scheme.

For instance, dalvon stuckey is here because of james coley, goldie nor his mac defensive coaching brethren had nothing to do with getting that defensive recruit. This year will also be the year that will either bring in the defensive recruits or continue to keep them away. Offering early playing time means nothing when you did that with the guys in the last 3 classes and the defense is still ranked 117th.

Calvin...your last post was respected by me for sure...I get where your coming from with that one....he needs to further prove himself and fix the defense.

Jim Gallo,

I feel sorry for you; so young and so addicted to the dark side of life.

You have no idea, obviously, of how drastically impaired your immune system is because of the way you react to life.

I don't disagree with everything Calvin said in his last post , To me this is the put up or shutup year I don't feel like posting everything negative is a positive way to look at things . I guess I look more at the glass being half full instead of half empty . Maybe a bit to a fault sometimes but I eat , sleep , ad breath this team and want them to win. I don't care if it's AG or someone else just do it . I seesome good things happening here right now in spite of the ncaa stuff and I am hoping AG continues to build on them . Go Canes

Been to philly many times. Been to South Bend as well. I'm not negative on Al. Golden just stop with nonsense as if he was Moses and led the Owls out of Egypt. Whether they were ask to leave or kicked out. They left a league with more quality players and join a league with less D1 players so he had an advantage with a team use to playing top flight competition. Did the rest of the MAC have that type of competition. Temple has put players in the NFL some have had great careers. Al did a great job at Temple and the coach that succeeded him is doing a great job too. When you say look at the area. Some of the best players to ever suit up came from the humble area.

Corrections from last post Great players come from some of the most crime ridden humble areas of this great country. God bless America.

If you've been to Philly many times and went to South Bend then you would know that those two neighborhoods are not comparable. My last company put me up at the Conwell which is only a short walk from Temple. It's non stop police sirens and subway trains going by the school. The desk clerk told us that the beginning of the fall semester is always followed by spike in muggings, burglaries, and told us to avoid Broad Street at night.

What I am trying to say is 90% football players have dealt with this type of life style or no someone who has leave or still live in this type of environment. No fear exits. Every hood area don't look the same, but never the less crime is there only the characters change. Yes I do want Al to succeed at the U . Where I live at you are gators, Seminoles, buckeyes and fighting Irish. The rest are Ivy leaguers. So l need something from the canes to talk about. These guys are torching me right now about there football teams

This will be our coming out party an who better to embarrasse then the over ranked gaytards an there non coaching muskychump joke of a coach... Duke rushes for 150yds 2 tds Morris throws for 280yds an 3tds

Teach! But don't worry man, anybody with common sense know exactly the advantage coach goldie had at temple over those othe mac schools, just remember, that's the same guy who tried to argue about our defense being 117th or 116th, it's a waste of time talking to imbeciles like that man, lol. You wasn't trying to say anything, you said it the first time, again the people with common sense understood and understand exactly what you talking bout.

CALVIN THEY CAN HATE YOUR POSTS OR NOT BUT THE BOTTOM LINE IS GOLDEN HAS NO MORE EXCUSES! NONE!THIS SEASON WILL TELL TWO THINGS. 1 IS HE THE RIGHT COACH FOR THIS PROGRAM. IF HE IS THEN HE WINS 10/11 GAMES AND ACC COASTAL DIVISION. 2 IS HE IN OVER HIS HEAD AND ONLY USING THIS PROGRAM FOR HIS OWN SELFISH GAIN. MAYBE! I BELIEVE HE WILL LEAVE IF HE POSTS A 8-4 RECORD. AND HE SHOULD! THE ADMINISTRATION WILL NOT FIRE HIM EVEN THOUGH WITH THE TALENT AND THE SOFT SCHEDULE HE SHOULD WIN 10 GAMES EASY. BUT YOU AND I BOTH KNOW THAT THE WAY THE TWO STOOGES COACH ON DEFENSE COULD EASILY COST US A GAME OR TWO WE HAVE NO BUSINESS LOSING. FOR NOW I HAVE TO HOPE I'M WRONG BUT I CAN SAY THERE ARE NO MORE EXCUSES. CAN'T WIN 10 GAMES THAN HE IS NOT THE MAN FOR THE JOB. HE EVEN GETS THE GATORS IN MIAMI WHERE THEY HAVE NOT WON SINCE 1985. WANT TO MAKE A STATEMENT WIN THAT GAME HANDILY AND ALL OF A SUDDEN THERE IS A BUZZ BUT THE PROBLEM STILL REMAINS WITH THE TWO STOOGES IF THEY DON'T GET THERE AREA OF THE DEFENSE TO PLAY "CANE" FOOTBALL IT WILL NOT MATTER.

Wow Gay tor 1 sounds like a 4th grade girl trying to be a big girl on these boards

Of those Gallo, how many have proven to be productive in their Freshman and Soph years?
He's playing his players. Plain and simple.
If he goes down, he's going down with his guys. no secret there.

Those Gator dudes love to tout the SEC...
It's the only way to put a positive spin on being the 5th best team in your conference.

Yep, and the 5th best team in our conference whipped the best team in your conference at their own house.

Shapiro prisin rant....hilarious. 18 more years and you'll be free.

SoMiamiGator any given Saturday .Enjoy it while you can . Louisville just scored again .Go Canes

You talk brave, but you are afraid to play LSU and dodged FSU in the ACC championship game plus weakened your schedule, so badly, it's now a joke. Your ibis looks a lot like a chicken.

Miai will have a much better shot at winning the game against UF. Everyone knows how slow UF offense has been starting at the beginning of each of the last few seasons, even when the offense was descent. It now sucks, so it will be even worse. Miami's offense is going to be very good, and the defense is going to be much improved if it can remain healthy. But Gator fans keep talking s@*t, when it hits the fan in September we will see what you have to say. Mark it down witches, Miami will kick that @ss for the Gators. Period!!

We dodged FSU....yeah....right....we all wanted another shot at that one....trust me. Facts are facts....TURDS RARELY PLAY ANY OOC GAMES AWAY FROM TRAILORVILLE....unfortunately....Miami seems to be following the same sorry blueprint as set forth by MANY in the SEC...."Hey....lets just look good on paper until we actually get to the end of the season....cough cough....where we actually then have to playa good team...cough cough....hey Louisville just scored again!!

Al Golden and the canes dodged and refused to play LSU to kick off the 2014 season even though the game was to be played at a neutral site.

Question Turd fans....and "Fact Check"....if Ohio State was inviting you to play them the first game of the 2014 season next year....what do think your AD would say??

Hell to the no!!!

Or Oregon
Or USC
Or Louisville....for sure a no!!

So....STFU!!

Hey DUM DUM it dont work like that. OSU would not invite the Gators to be their first opponent ever, they might invite the canes. Just like LSU did.
Same reason that the game will be a Noon kickoff, cause the canes are playing.
Get my drift or do you need me to break it down for ya?
The canes and Gators are worlds apart.

Just sayin....your saying nothing....

And your an idiot....quite frankly so is LSU....I'm glad they have the sac to invite us to play....I can assure you after this season they would think other wise.

Let me clarify it even a better way for the Turd nation since it has been stated your team RARELY plays OOC teams.....

Dude....if Boise State (a lessor ranked team then Turds in 2013 #17) invited you next year to start the season.....YOUR AD WOULD STILL SAY NO....YOU MORON...

AND YOU KNOW IT!!

Why take the chance??

The SEC....where its all smoke and mirrors!!
