Day One at the ACC Football Kickoff: Stephen Morris, Shayon Green & the commish among those to appear

GREENSBORO, NC -- Welcome to the 2013 college football season.

It sure feels like it's close from our vantage point at the Grandover Resort in Greensboro, N.C., where all 14 Atlantic Coast Conference teams are represented at the ACC Football Kickoff. Syracuse (Atlantic Division) and Pittsburgh (Miami's Coastal Division) are the new ACC members this season, with Louisville coming on board next season.

For those who forgot, UM plays at Pittsburgh in the regular-season finale the day after Thanksgiving, on Friday, Nov. 29th. Brrrr.

Today, Miami quarterback Stephen Morris and defensive end Shayon Green meet us at 1:30 p.m. -- along with players from Boston College, North Carolina and Wake Forest.

Clemson, Duke, and UVA players speak from 2:29 to 3:39 p.m.

FSU, Maryland, Pitt and Syracuse players speak from 3:50 to 5 p.m.

And Georgia Tech, Virginia Tech and NC State players speak from 4:40 to 6 p.m.

Coaches speak tomorrow, with UM coach Al Golden slated for 2:59 to 4:09 p.m.

I already chatted briefly with Stephen (who is getting plenty of exposure) and Shayon (who will be relied on to help carry the defense), and they're refreshed and ready for their final seasons.

We'll hear ACC Commissioner John Swofford today, as well.

FYI, there are seven QBs, six defensive linemen, four wide receivers, four defensive backs, three offensive linemen and four linebackers repping their teams.

Be back later.

Enjoy your Sunday.

gallo, that's the funny part, it's like coach goldie and his boy oach OH-NO don't know what they're trying to run. So a guy like jelani Hamilton is being mis-used by them, he's stuck at 270, so in their book he's either a defensive end but now they're thinking they should bulk him up and make him a tackle, they're confused. Same with the linebackers, this is what happens when you don't have a blue-print on how a defense should look and how it should be ran.

Going out recruiting linebackers from highschool who are already 230lbs and leaving them at linebacker is comical to me, but hey, i guess they'e not going to grow no more according to this staff. These new jacks don't have a clue on what the weight management should look like on defense. chad Thomas is already 24lbs, what i they're idea for him when he comes in, to put on 25 more lbs, and have him in no mans land like jelani. Get a real d-co in here and we won't have all these guys turning into mis-fits on defense.

See tyriq McCord this year, the plan is for him to play more out in space this year after trying to add 25lbs of muscle to his frame, here's to him staying healthy out in space.

GAINESVILLE, Fla. (AP). Florida linebacker Antonio Morrison has been suspended for at least the first two games of the regular season after being arrested for the second time in five weeks.

Arrested again.....wow

he is a gator. What do u expect. They all worship hernandez.

Canes haters, don't jump on the wagon when Golden and CO. are contending for titles yearly!

Lady Calvina/Gallo the 'Whine' maker,

Are you so painfully stupid to think you are the only one that recognizes Miami's defense has been putrid and if there is not great improvement D'Onofrio will most likely be fired?

You cowardly Gators are so pathetic...squatting on a Hurricane blog pretending to be a Cane. We know how desperate you are to rub elbows with our greatness, but you simply don't have the courage or intellect to be a Cane.

When you read the following below you will better understand why cowardly Gator Lady Calvina/Gallo the 'Whine' maker posts such insanely stupid things on this blog:

GAINESVILLE, Fla. -- Florida Gators linebacker Antonio
Morrison has been arrested for the second time in five weeks, this time for allegedly barking at a police dog and resisting arrest, and will miss at least the first two games of the season after being suspended from the team Sunday.

Morrison's defense was the dog barked first, according to a police report (cowardly Gator Lady Calvina/Gallo the 'Whine' maker must have helped Morrison devise that brilliant defense).

Hahahahaha , gators are so dumb......he barked first......you cant make that stuff up lmao!!!!!!!!

What?

Morrison arrested?

I SAY LETS CALL AL SHARPTON. THIS IS A TRAVESTY. I SAY MORRISON WAS STANDING HIS GROUND AGAINST THE DOG.

RALLY IN GAINESVILLE TOMORROW IN SUPPORT OF TONIO

What in the world does jelani hamilton have anything remotely to do with this, Calvin?

IS YOU SERIOUS?

They should give Morrison some type of community service sentence. You know like: "Un-tipping" cows, jajajajaja

Ron, Calvin probably is a cane "fan". There's a dypshyt over at Canespace called OGV who writes the same garbage! They've gone "all in" on trying to discredit the staff.

Haven't heard from him or his moronic brethren since Golden went on this recruiting run. It wouldn't surprise me if Calvin is really OGV dressed in drag!

Go 'canes!

Either way they think like a Gator fan so they should be treated like a Gator fan! UM and FSU are adding 4 and 5 Star kids while UF is losing them through de-commitment and arrest. It's their turn in the "barrel"!

They thought they could buy their way out of a downturn but what goes up always comes down. They had a good run. They still haven't gone undefeated and Tebow still hasn't had sex with a girl, but I'd say it was still a good run. Average by State of Florida standards but still respectable. Enjoy!

ESPN Headline: "MIAMI PRIMED FOR BREAKOUT YEAR"

Experts from around the country are recognizing the fantastic job Al Golden is doing. If not for the NCAA persecution of the Canes there is no telling how far and high the program would have progressed. Even Florida's Will Muschamp pointed out the extraordinary job Golden has done.

Let's hope it translates on the field the next couple of seasons. Let's also not forget that our defensive depth is still 1-2 years away from what we all consider to be a cane defense.

I suspect we'll have a few hiccups this season but we should be good for 10-11 games regardless. Al has fixed the offense, special teams, and now recruiting. I have no doubt he'll figure out the issues on defense!

Go 'canes!

Fla was an all male school at one point and time.lol

Sarasota 'Cane,

I agree with you that the defense still has some ground to cover.

Al Golden re-installing a winning culture in the program has been no easy job as the kids had been led to believe that simply saying the right things instead of paying the price year round as the old Canes did was all it took.

The damage the NCAA persecution did to the program is incalculable and would have destroyed most programs for the next 20 years. I believe that in many ways had the death penalty been given almost 3 years ago, which would have meant shelving the program for a year, would have been less damaging than this premeditated death by a thousand cuts NCAA attack.

Al Golden has been nothing less than brilliant in his ability to navigate the program through hell that has many people believing the Canes could win 10 or 11 games next year...simply miraculous!

I agree! Al Golden was "Heaven sent" in my opinion. I thought UM was on life support for 10 years when the AD(S) cut and ran. I wonder what Kirby thinks of UM now?

Al Golden will have better opportunities to make money but few of those opportunities will afford him the ability to pick over talent in the most fertile recruiting area in the country. He knows this! To hell with Penn St., if Al wins here he might one day coach the Dallas Cowboys! Opportunities are endless at UM when everything is clicking.

The players we were picking over last season had offers from FIU, UCF, USF, etc. Today we have kids coming in with offers form the top ten recruiting schools in the country! UM will likely have the #1 or 2 class in the country on signing day if everything holds. We haven't said that since Jacory was a freshman!

I'm moving from cautiously optimistic to straight up optimistic!! If UM were a stock I'd tell my clients to BUY!!

Go 'canes!
