UM Canes fans should be happy. Here's why...

If you don't already know, the University of Miami reversed its former stance today by opening CanesFest to everyone -- not just season-ticket holders, Hurricane Club members and the parents of the players.

I've been covering CanesFests for years, and they really are fun for fans of all ages.

I thought it was strange that they had recently changed the policy to leave out so many of the loyal fan base. You don't have to be a season-ticket holder or Hurricane Club member to love the team. That was a bad move, so it was smart to bring back the usual format.

Canes Fest is from 4 to 7 p.m. on August 17 at BankUnited Center.
