Good news: Curtis Porter (back) wearing black jersey at Tuesday morning practice

Hurricanes coach Al Golden put out a worry signal Monday during his press conference when he said starting senior defensive tackle Curtis Porter was dealing with back issues lately.

There might not be any reason to worry now.

Porter, who has missed more than a few games in his career with injuries, was wearing a black jersey (designated for starters) and looking healthy Tuesday morning during drills. The Hurricanes badly need Porter to be healthy. He makes a huge difference in the run defense when he's been in there.

> The battle for the starting job at strong side linebacker appears to be sophomore Thurston Armbrister's to lose at this point. He was wearing a black jersey Tuesday morning. Freshman Alex Figueroa, listed as a co-starter at strong side linebacker, was wearing green.

> Junior Jonathan Feliciano continues to run with the first team at right tackle. Seantrel Henderson was sitting behind Feliciano in stretching exercises.

> There were no players wearing yellow (non-contact) or red (out) jerseys.

Soon all the excuses will be used up.

In 79 the hurricanes came to Tallahassee and lost to FAMU 16-13. That year FAMU won a NC filled with players from the neighborhood. Miami decided to do the same thing when little ole Black college FAMU beat them with the majority of players in their own back yard. Miami then went in and put a fence around the talent in south fla. That when the tides changed.

Speaking of Howard and the old school Canes, how about Jim Burt bursting up the middle and knocking down an FSU two point conversion, breaking their hearts even before the Wide Rights? Think about it, a nose tackle getting through two blockers and doing that, impressive.

Guy went on to help found NFL U, too, going to the Giants and winning a Super Bowl with them.

Because I was ribbed about googling, I figure I google Jim Burt, and found this nice article about the Miami versus FSU rivalry, one of mutual respect.

#57, my favorite Cane of all-time and the reason I became a fan. I remember turning thru the channels and coming across a UM versus ND game when I was around 7 or 8 years old. I heard Brent Musburger (I think) say that #57 need double digit tackles despite his injuries if the Canes were going win the game. By the end of the game, his play had me hooked, he had pushed through his obstacles and had more sacks than Musburger estimated (Musburger gave an exact number). He was tired, his jersey was ripped, tape was hanging, but he had accomplished the goal and Musburgers expectations were exceeded. He was a big LB, but could move, when he removed his helmet, his face was jet black and his eyes were like a Tigers (fierce). I said this my dude right here and this is my favorite team! My dad just shook his head, being from Cleveland its all Browns and O-State. He would tell me to turn from our games, but I wouldn't, so he'd smile and watch as well.

No, this is a repeat. And this is last season. And this is the obsession of a worthless troll. How many Canes fans even CARE what yardage the anemic Gator offense had last year, let alone would tke the time to track them down, collate them, and then post them repeatedly.

Oh that's right, Canes fans have a real life, and real jobs, and homes that are not tornado magnets with wheels.

True Cane - It's probably not a great idea to have dreadlocks coming out of your helmet when you are on offense. I know players have done it before, but it is considered "part of the uniform" and you can be tackled by them. I'm sure it's not the real reason he is cutting them, but it is probably good from a pure football standpoint.

I was there in 2004, was it? when Donna went to bat for Willie Williams. Don't try to make it seem like Donna dictates recruiting. She's an OG, you have no idea. She'll give anyone an opportunity to make something of themselves. She's a great advocate for diversity and change. So you show me proof of what you say Calvin or just stop. I was an RA in Mahoney and I know how much support the admin gives to the student athletes. They have every opportunity to succeed.

Furthermore, work ethic gets you a long way. If you play by the rules and work hard no one is going to dismiss you. That kid had to have some issues of professionalism to get the boot.

Five Titles is right on the money about his post comparing JJ and Golden in the first years. True Cane, you are wrong. Remember that JJ was handed a better team that was not facing NCAA sanctions. Golden was handed a broken down football program with sanctions looming. Much more difficult circumstances for Golden. Marios, I remember those good old days too.

Five titles!! Man I will try to write more without using all caps this season starting Friday!! To be honest I have terrible sight when it comes to reading!! Yeah! yeah! been to the doctor, hate my damn glasses!! You make a good point with your posts and I can "see" your football knowledge. I totally agree to not accept that LSU game. Why ? When was the last time LSU came to S. Beach ? It is not to the canes benefit to play them at this point. If this season is a success than a bowl matchup is very possible especially if both teams fail to win there respected conferences. Five Titles Blacksburg and Tuscaloosa are not same distance from Atlanta but I agree with your point made they are close enough to be considered neutral. The excuses are over and it's time for some football and we all can and will be critical of something whether we agree or disagree.. This is what's makes it fun. I just want to see this program/ team win 10 games this regular season and a Acc Coastal Championship and a Bowl victory then I will gladly STFU !! Sorry no I won't and neither will any of us!!Go Canes!! (NO CAPS) DAM THAT WAS HARD!!

Another interesting note is the fact that Tubman killed more slaves than some slaveowners. When dudes used to reach the safe houses along the railroad, some used to get scared, become weak of heart, and want to return to the plantations, where Tubman knew for sure, they'd be tortured and interrogated into giving up the railroads secrets and her movement would be exposed. When she heard dudes waffling and longing for their boss man--she would calmly kill them in hand to hand combat. Certainly not saying that yall need to be killed, but yall are a huge part of our 10 year old problem. Its self-inflicted now--Coker, Shannon, and Golden are all budget hires and mediocre skill-wise. The bosses are the culprits not other fans or coaches who they hired and are only doing what they can.

We all want to win, this infighting is dumb, especially when most of those in power an influence (UM Board and administrators) aren't UM graduates or UM football fans. Cane on Cane crime.

LOL, man i just had this same conversation with a real good friend of mind on Saturday about Sistah HARRIET! All people know is "the underground railroad" they didn't know, like this defensive scheme at UM now, cowards got blasted, had to kill the few to save the many, and this is why i'm losing more & more respect for coach goldie, he keeps being cut throat with the players, but not with his boy clown 117th cause coach goldie wants to live out the dream of him and his boy raising up a national championship trophy, but in the meantime, coach goldie is trying to make it clear to those he can fool, it's not his fault, it's the players who can't seem to get there act together that's preventing us from winning.

Five,

What I’m telling you is that what Howard had to deal with is in no way similar to what Al has had to deal with. So if you want to make comparisons don’t use those two at all, not even close.

Howard stepped into a completely run down situation. Howard’s problem was he was handed a team full of non-athletic clowns propped up as a football team. A program on the verge of collapse. Howard wasn’t handed a roster of a handful of potential high draft prospects. So let’s leave that comparison there.

Don’t try to attach those two period point blank

Posted by: True Cane | August 27, 2013 at 04:12 PM

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

Coach Schnellenberger did not step into a "completely run down situation". Lou Saban had actually resurrected the program, had organized a recruiting program that was ahead of its time that attracted Jim Kelly and got the program on a winning path. It was Lou Saban who inherited a program that had only won 5 games over a two year period.

And to even remotely hint that Howard Schnellenberger took over a program in more disrepair than the nightmare Al Golden was handed is good for comedic relief, but not even remotely close to the truth.

What a crazy coincidence Calvin and definitely not the same person as HarrietTubmanCane.

You were just having a conversation Saturday with your friend and you said the exact same thing about Harriet Tubman.

What are the odds????

/////////////////////////////////////

Ever since the thomas finnie situation, there's been a war on dreads. Remember, somebody said this "we have to change the culture around here" he wasn't talking football. Coach goldie is to busy trying to change the inviduality of the players and trying to get them to conform to the mandate by troll shalala. Pretty soon, it'll be part of coming in to UM that you can't wear dreads on the football team.

Sunny dee, Trust, players could careless about playing football with dreads, it's not a problem. Just take note of what's happening at UM, they got guys saying "yes sir & no sir" after something is said by clown 117th because on his own he can't garner respect and coach goldie knows that. He also knows these players don't fear him or his minions, they respect art kehoe cause he can stand on his own two feet, coach barrow & hurlie brown get respect on their own. Trust me, the players know coach goldie and clown 117th are soft, if you're not a don soldinger type, you can hang it up.

brennan carroll is trying, but coach goldie hired him like that was going to bring some type of hype to the program, players don't even know who he s and don't care. jethro franklin, cool guy, but he doesnt' fit in down here either, he's a west coast type of coach.

Coach goldie is to busy trying to get guys to conform to him, he's not morphing into a True UM coach. Coach goldie can't be trusted, the psychology he's trying to use on the team will not turn them into champions, he should be embarrassed by that last press conference he gave cause like i said last year and i know why jedd fisch rolled out to as well, coach goldie was beneath him resume wise but who's going to tolerate some non-established headcoach on the major scene disrespecting the part of the team that helped to carry you to 7 wins but witnessing you not say anything about the incompetent moron calling the efense. I would've jetted out to just like jedd, george and terry.

Than i use to point it out, coach goldie is a sac rider, whichever part of the team was doing good last year coach goldie couldn't wait to get in front of the media and sac ride, it started with the first game. As soon as dzp got that pick six coach goldie at the press conference didn't give no real credit to dzp his words were "he did what he was coached to do" when i heard that i was laughing to myself saying come on player, that's some green ish right their. Well the defense is rnaked 117th, and "they did what they were coached to do" that's for sure.

Than as soon as we got another high shoot-out win, here go coach goldie sac riding again " I made the decision early on that we were going to have to try and out-score people" First off that's what you're suppose to be doing every game, next off, why didn't you say that after the k st. game and take credit for the offense than.

But when it comes to the defense, coach goldie acts like that's some other part of the team he's not privy too. Now if coach goldie want to start playing games, he's going to start getting called out. This is year 3, nobody wants to hear his shat or excuses, either win big or GTFOH. I could careless if coach goldie left later on tonight before the season, at 13 & 11 who gives a pluck, i'm loyal to UM not some outsider wit ha 300 page binder he just put together the other day.

In that 300 page binder, defense is nowhere to be found in it. Coach goldie has and fits that saying to a tee when it's said so & so has "delusions of grandeur".

This mofo writing this 300 page thesaurus as if he's some type of legendary coach on the levels of a EDDIE ROBINSON, Vince Lombardi, John Wooten and the likes. He'sdoing all this writing as if somebody is going to make a movie about him one day, he's a legend in his own mind. All this pillars and core values talk, but no where in that binder is talking about how you actually win games, it's talking about "if you do these things, you will be successful" but how successful, if you shooting for above average, than you're on your way, if you're shooting for excellence than got dammitt throw that book down, burn it and go and look at the blueprint that's already been laid. I can guarantee you, of the 5 national championships won here and the ones played for ,none of those teams knew about that 300 page binder, GTFOH with that non-sense goldie.

Cause it looks like the next thing coming is dreads are causing us to lose games now.

Dude U are obsessed with Us, just waiting and reading all day long, but U have this amazing life. Why don't U answer my questions? Why are U here if its such a miserable place full of "no lives?" Waiting for us to post, but we're the losers. What are the odds????

Great post five titles- and of course Calvin aka true (false cane) aka Harriet tubman has a zillion rebuttals which absolutely make no sense. What makes sense is this

JJ's UM defense in 1984 was horrendous. UM was up 31 points to an unheard of Maryland team at half time. Um allowed BC to run up nealry 500 yds passing on them. UCLA was well, mediocre at best. And they went 8-5.
Calvin, you doosh, why even talk about how JJ diodnt make excuses about the schedule? That was then this is now. football back then was 100& different. Rules were different, TV waa different, the way a NC was crowned was different, I mean

CALVIN
TRUE CANE
HARRIET TUBMAN

PLEASE STFU

Calvin you are really reaching with the whole dred locks conspiracy . And how in the hell is that individuality ? 1/3 of the players in the country have them . No where has it been said or even suggested that AG is making them cut them so just stop with the retardedness . Go Canes

it is a numbers game.
Count the number of Cane defensive linemen with their hands on the ground when the other team snaps the ball.
If three, Canes will lose on that play.

Count the number of yards that Cane LBs are off of the LOS. If more than three, Canes will lose.

Look at the number of DBs on third and long out in the pasture land with no receiver near them. If even one, Canes will lose on that play.

Count the number of times the other team can run outside the Cane DEs. If one or more, Canes will lose.

D'o does NOT know defense. Neither does golden, or he would have replaced d'o by now.

1/3 of his post was assumption, but what about the other 2/3 of his post? That was all fact and hilarious by the way!

Golden said all those things. He takes credit when its advantageous and deflects it when it isn't. The binder is full catch-phrases, acronyms, and other appearances-based, machismo-laced coach speak.

Substance > Appearances

That boy stay in prevent defense, on and off the field.

9>5<2, So different times excuse swagger less behaviors and low expectation setting? Why does mindtstate need to change? If times have changed--then why are U still cooning (protecting the boss man)? U don't have anything coming--I promise U that lol. No Scooby Snacks

Calvin jealous of Golden's writing because he can't write 1 coherent sentence and grammar and spelling are a distant fantasy. A moron among morons.

Good news that Porter is back in a black uni and healthy. We are much better when he's there. I'm sure Lady calvina in her Porter fantasy thinks he is too fat or too skinny, but that is all just nonsense.

You'd think the UM trustees would force Golden to hire Sybil. Look at all the amazing expertise you get and if you pay per body vs personalities in one small brain, you'd get a great deal.

Porter is a true NT at 6.1 and 325 benches well over 400, squats well over 500 and power cleans around 340. He is a run stuffer this year.

You'd think the UM trustees would force Golden to hire Sybil. Look at all the amazing expertise you get and if you pay per body vs personalities in one small brain, you'd get a great deal.

^^^The same posts, every single day. No longer a Cane fan, just a Golden fan now, thus the unwavering attention to his holinesses, unparalleled adage, "be the same guy...every day!" How profound!

Lol!

Nonsense, Sybil. Why don't they hire you----you and your brain mates know it all. Well, actually you know it all after the fact. Never any predictions. Loser.

Eddie, if Porter can stay healthy (it will be his 1st time) he'll make a big difference.

How easy and weak would it be for someone to make a case that mountain cane, 9>5>2, mainecane, Mario(s), Five Titles, Ron Zook, UGoCanes, GA Canes, and rocket were the same poster every single day?

Thats deflection and a clear indicator that Ur argument is weak.

Substance > Appearances

Deflection techniques must also be in the Vaulted Binder of the Covenant.

"I hope...I think, they, they, they...their brand....they need to prove themselves...I mean they only have 14 games for Pete's sake.... I hope they're ready....I hope they're mature...I think...I hope...sanctions could disrupt their play...U know its their first day of school right...the honey's and all...well...I think..."

Hope Coaching < Swagger

No deflection, Sybil. You and your brain cohorts are idiots.

Well lets take an account: I've been called an intellectual, know it all, nerd, etc in a very round about way.. what are U trying to say---I'm smart? Thanks! What is Grandma Cybil (U changed the C to an S because U hate Calvin) making for din din?

What did she do, to make U name Us after her?

Nice. There you go. Another Randy Shannon victim...

Tommy No touch down Streeter gets ut by the Ravens in his second yr. He had a huge chance of taking over since Pitta is injured and anquan was traded. All i can do is shake my head. People blame Coker, but it took a former player to nearly destroy this football program

Where jacorry at?

I say , at the UM gator game we sing them out like we did bosworth....make ' em cry like brian did. Last time playing them and they wont renew the rivalry. BYE,BYE gators, we're glad to see U go!

Nope, I've said numerous times that RS, Coker and Golden are the same ball of mediocrity served up by UM administration and Board.

Don't lump me into a group, like you've lumped yourself. The slurp everything Calvin and Golden crew (one slurped with an attitude and the other with a smile). So much so that you can't post without mention at least one of the two. Named yourself after him, huh?

I say , at the Gator game in Miami we beat them up like Virginia did in the farewell to the OB....make ' em cry like little girls. Last time playing them and they are ducking every good team. BYE,BYE cane clowns, we're glad to beat U up again!

eddieOT, ur right about porter. as great as it is to have him back it aslo scares me a bit. i think we will run more 3-4 with him healthy. last year had barley 4 DL that didnt hurt us by being on the field. now we may have 5-6. i expect to see more 4-3 than last year.i think with the guys we have should be able to have a decent rotation and finally get some push. i want to see porter in on 4-3 packages instead of running 3-4 until he gets tired and then sub in a 4-man.

This man knows his football, i could go out there and call a better defensive game right now and won't be 117th in the nation, no way. I wouldn't even need x's and o's. It'll be our 11 against their 11. For the last 2 years we've played efense like we only have 8 players on the field. To many plays where guys are thinkng about not being called freelancers and are out their covering grass in the name of scheme discipline. I'm glad this is year 3, it's not about the just winning games, coach goldie barely won 7 games last year, overtime with Georgia tech, had thomas "laptop" finnie not gotten that interception against NC St., overtime with, duke, boston college was in it.

For some reason people think coach goldie has this program playing quality football or top notch football. His saving grace right now is having james coley(recruiting), barrow, kehoe & hurlie brown. The rest of his crew are barely holding on. art kehoe is grateful to coach goldie for bringing him back home but it won't be long before art starts having to counsel coach goldie.

As long as he doesn't stand up to troll shalala, he'll continue to be a good mediocre do-boy coach at UM. shalala don't want certain type of players at UM, their attacking the dreads now.

Lol, first they wanted to give golden tongue credit for streeter but once he's cut it's Shannon 's fault. Lmao. These idiots are a mess, make up your mind.

And then they make a comment that Jimmy's defense was horrible. Guess what it didn't finish 116th.
Guess how many teams ran up 500 yards on us last year. These clowns are too easy.

Coach goldie with the way he thinks, is the new don shula but at UM. Nothing about shula or coach goldie says they'e going to ever coach a dominant team. Althoug even shula went undefeated way back in the 70's but other than that, who cares, he was way past his time at Miami. Should've been fired after 86 for sure. dan marino, 1 superbowl appearance. smo17, i'm not going to say he's equivalent to dan the man, but talents wise he's right their with the best of them when it comes to having a cannon. marino threw alot of interceptions in college, in fact he threw way more than jacory harris did by at least 2o, marino was in the 60's for college career picks. In fact i'm willing to bet j70's college football career was either better stat wise or close to dan marino's college career!

And then they have the nerve to post kehoe said Al reminds him of Howard, lol what else you expect him to say for giving him a job. What would you say about your boss with a microphone in front if your face.

These dummies say Al had it tougher then Howard. This has to be the ultimate jackazz statement of the year. I bet golden tongue wouldn't even make that asinine statement

Calvin hey buddy I hope your eating the non toxic crayons I sent you. HTC - What's your take on black face? Cool cat - many times a day to do you think about ending it all? D - Did you know it wasn't a headache when you were having your stroke?

And since you freaks are such diehards where will you be this Friday at 8pm? That's right not a sun life like myself.

put up or shut up.

Calvin your Plantation Mentality (referenced in one of your previous post) is showing.

Leave the players hair to themselves . Don't make a conspiracy out of it.
Your wish for Shannon ( who was a great guy and a REAL 'Cane) to set foot on the CG campus as a Coach is ludicrous. That will never happen so grow up.

Porter might have had back spasms which can be controlled. This is not a major injury, and this is his year to show his stuff. Porter is going to be one of our key players, and he has accepted that role.

What new ideas are you going to throw out there cAlvina, and what are you thinking up for your alter ego, Harriet T "slurping all that kool aid you are putting out there".

CG is here, the train is going and you are being left behind.

Lonely isn't it.

TKSWANN cool posts. Good points, and with your new glasses!!!!!!.
I still like YOUR OLD POSTS IN CAPS. We all KNOW THAT TKSWANN IN ON BOARD.

Go 'Canes
