Al Golden from Wednesday's Atlantic Coast Conference Coaches' Teleconference

Some quick hits from Al Golden's ACC Teleconference:

* On getting more national exposure since the win against Florida, and if it parallels at all with how UM's basketball program: "We have no idea what is being said outside these doors. We're just going back to work. ...I have no idea what transpired with Jim and with basketball, but relative to us we're not talking about anything out the outside, just as we did not talk about Florida going into the Florida game.

"It's been about our process. This week is us vs. complacency. We're really not calling it a bye week. We're calling it a process week.'

* On tight-end Clive Walford and expectations for him compared to a year ago:

"A lot higher. He's been one of the guys we've been pushing the last two days to get his timing down, to run everything full speed so Stephen knows exactly where he is, to really turn the corner and play faster. He's a guy we've got to get involved more for sure, especially on third down.''

* On the defensive-line rotation: Golden said Anthony Chickillo got around 71 reps against Florida, but that the other players rotating, including Ufomba Kamalu, Jelani Hamilton, Justin Renfro, Curtis Porter and Olsen Pierre, "didn't get out of the 40s, which kept us fresh.

"The rotation will get stronger as we start to bring along Kamalu and Jelani Hamilton and Earl Moore. We really need those guys to grow up and step up.''

* On Phillip Dorsett and Stephen Morris getting their signals crossed at times:

"Just disconnected a couple times and that's it. It's really not a function of any one thing. We all have to improve, starting with me. Today and yesterday we worked very hard on a lot of different things, most particularly on our third downs.

Stephen’s balance is excellent right now. He’s throwing the ball really well. We had a lot of continuity with our receivers. We’re pushing Stacy and Malcolm. We’re trying to get more production out of the tight ends. It’s been a very productive two days, but it’s really not a new offense, it’s not Stephen, it’s not Phillip. It’s the totality of it and the way the game unfolded."

 * On recruiting after Saturday's victory, and the importance of timing as it relates to recruiting after a win:

"I don’t know so much of the timing. If this was decision time then timing is important. If a kid was going to make a decision and he and his family said, 'OK, sometime after the Florida game we’re going to make a decision.' Obviously, then that would be favorable to us. But in terms of timing of it it’s just a function of getting out.

"We’re in a bye week and we’ve practiced really hard the last two days. We’re going to practice tomorrow and then we’re going to get our coaches on the road Thursday and Friday. We’re going to go to further places, places further away, because we don’t have a game this weekend. And when we go to South Florida, we’ll do the Tampa and Orlando area, maybe Fort Myers, West Coast and when we’re back home we’ll start hitting the local areas. There’s a little strategy involved..because of the way it falls on the calendar."

*On the play of the offensive line:

"There are cert things we need to get fixed. We know that. We have to be able to run the ball better. That’s not just on the O-line. That’s on everybody, starting with me. There are some things we’ve looked at that were exposed that we need to get corrected and we’ll get that fixed and there are some other things we can do moving forward that we will do.

"Slugfest for sure. Proud of the way the guys fought. It wasn’t pretty but certainly a lot of room to improve this week and they know that."

OK University Of Miami Hurricanes Fans, here's the deal ... U Won, made the plays, deserved to Win, are the better team and have been the better program over a 30 year period. The Florida Gators got hit right in their moufs. That may just be an opinion, but that's what the results on the playing field states. No excuses. We Gators n Canes have been going at it since the Summer of '08 on these blogs and it's been full insults ahead for over 1,800 straight days. It's been a constant back n forth of, U said, Gator said... Gator said, U said. U Suck, Gators Suck. Has it been interesting ? At times sure. Has it been ugly ? Mostly. Has it meant a damn thing on the field ? No. Now back in that Summer of '08 the Gators will say U came to their blog spouting pollution. And U will say that the Gators came to Ur blog doing the same thing. Ultimately and ending cycle of mostly senseless ridiculousness that just went round n round in a circle of insults and foolishness didn't mean a thing. So, having said that, It's over. I'm not asking for a truce, just saying it's over by virtue of the fact that our Football rivalry is no more. It's just in the past. Now U can say why U think it's over. And Ur entitled to that opinion. The Gators will have their reasons, and they are entitled to that opinion. Bottom line is this... Right now, Miami Football... Florida Football ... Florida State Football Programs are not "Back" Yet. But they are ALL rising. No debate that they are 3 of the Best Top to Bottom College Football Programs College Football has EVER seen and easily Top-5-10 over the last 20-30 years combined. Simply put, when the State of Florida BIG-3 are ALL doing well, College Football is far better as a result. It's a State of Florida thing that the other 49 States, as well as the World simply wouldn't understand, could never understand, will never get and certainly will never fathom.

Now I'm not here to call for some kind of truce. I think we all know, in totality, that's an impossibility. And really, I don't really think we need one. We as fans are passionate. Some more fanatical than others. But from this point forward I hope we can just be more civil to one another as Miamian-Hurricanian / Gainesvillian-Reptilian - Floridian Americans. I will. I also sincerely want to apologize for some of my disrespectful comments in the past Cane fans. But in my own defense, I must say that far more of my "nasty" and "hateful" posts were others impersonating me. And trying to explain that, during those times, was simply useless. As for the other Gators that post here, I ask you to drop n bury the axe. It's been too long, the winding road has run it's course. The Gator n Cane points and counter points are just moot now... Time to move on. The Canes have their destiny and the Gators have theirs. God willing, for the sake of College Football, they will meet again someday in the foreseeable future in the Post-Season. Which could only mean one thing... We Both Don't SUCK !

In closing, I think we Gators n Canes can certainly agree on one thing. There are ups n downs, trials n tribulations, ebbs n flows for every Program in College in all Sports as well as life... I do believe it's safe to say that The Miami Hurricane and Florida Gator Football Programs are both ascending no matter how we might personally feel about the past... Win or Lose, Victory or Defeat, Saturday September 7th from High Noon until the final gun was as compelling as College Football gets or ever gets (minus of course that Driskel left-handed pass with 8 seconds to go). Much respect to U and Urs ...

Good luck Cane Fans... Go get Ur Coastal and ACC Championship. When U do, the rest will fall into place...

Gators ... ditto ... Eastern ... SEC ... ???

See U down the line Mighty CANE FANS ... perhaps in Basketball or Baseball ... SALUTE.

No Mas from me.

Sincerely,

A Miami born GATOR/CANE ... 9-11-13

C'est la vie Arty ... It's been real brother.

Boy, accountability sure seems to start coming real easy all of a sudden after a victory, lol!

Where was this talk when the defense was 117th!

Actually "Calvin", he said the same things then as he did in this article. On just about every occasion I can remember, he stated "It starts with me"......

You're boy randy would just through receivers under the bus.

That's why he was given a 2 level demotion miles from a microphone.

21-16

Calvin....give it up, get off the porch and get a life!

Another interception by Driskell! Lmao! Not interested in a truce, just get the hell on. Don't care about the state of any program other than Miami. Put us back on the schedule cowards

Can you imagine how much crap we would see on this blog had the gators won? Remember urban Meyer tacking on a worthless field goal last game to rub it in when all our team were freshmen? Truce? Sorry you guys trolled this blog for 6 months "clucks".

Ps...I want some ICE.

THAT WAS A VERY CLEAR, LUCID, WELL THOUGHT, POST BY THE MASTER TROLL HIMSELF....IT BROKE DOWN BOTH SIDES RESPECTFULLY AND WAS HONEST AND TASTEFULL ......

SUCK IT GATOR!!!!!!!! Of course in good fun

Met Deon Bush's family before game...really nice people.

Hope crowd shows up for games this year. We really do need a smaller stadium.

Ur Beautiful ... as I live n die

Gators turned to little tree lizards...

And those don't do to well when Hurricanes hit...

Weak...I told every one if you what was gonna happen on September 07th, 2013. They're baaaccckkkk

YAhoo reports that 4 SEC players in cluding an Alabama player that played in the NC game got impermissible benefits (said UA player received 45 K).

Tip of the iceberg people.

And if the NCAA goes after UM worse than it already has, and this goes nowhere, UM should lawyer up. The NC2A is in a bind. The Alabama player PLAYED in the NC game. What do they do? DO they sweep it under the rug like they did with Mo Clarett in 2002?

----
Listen, Golden knows there is aproblem with the Offense. Its obvious he knows and its obvious they are working on it.

I hope that Coach Golden can keep the team's focus on one game at a time. The ACC has a track record of lesser teams upsetting favorites a lot. It is imperative that this team keep its focus- starting with Coach Golden.

It must be hard for Calvin and Gallo, two guys who take themselves too seriously, to realize that this board and life in general will get along fine without them.

Took him five days, 7,8,9,10,11, and that was just to reneg on all his promises as usual and to hide under the guise of caring about 9-11. We know you will just change IDs and do it again, you have no other life.

But after watching you reneg on all your previous truces and promises, if you actually DO leave, know that you will not be missed. Your racism, threats, stalking, obsessive hatred, and lies on here for five years destroyed conversation on the Sun Sentinel and Palm Beach Post, and left the Canes fans only this place to read and write about Canes sports because Manny and Susan at least IP banned you a few times, forcing you to change libraries for your diatribes.

Don't go away angry, sicko, just go away.

HEY SOLDY:

UF only played UM once every five years, all that time you and other internet nerds spent on your fake internet rivalry NEVER had anything to do with real life college football.

Just a bunch of nerds talking to each other on the internet about their fake internet rivalry.

NCAA was going to release their penalties, but then the Johnny Manzell thing came up, and they had to drop everything to give that the same level of thorough investigation they did for Miami. Yeah right. So they had to hold off so it wouldn't be TOO obvious that they were double-standarding (yeah it's a word) through their day.

So now it is a bye week, a perfect time for the NCAA to release their overdue and overblown penalties, over three months in, on what is usually a six week process.

But now their darlings in the SEC and Big 12 have allegations of far more serious transgressions. They will again drop everything to sweep those accusations under the rug. Supposedly enforcement is separate from the penalties phase, but they have lied to us before.

So they gotta go back and rewrite the penalties YET AGAIN. They will say they are setting an example with us, but then when these others come around, they will claim the example was already made, so there is no need to punish the current players at OSU and Alabama for mistakes made in THE PAST.

Of course the sicko claimed we were gonna get the death penalty, but that was just another lie in his list of lies.

NCAA, its a bye week, and you have other stuff to get to, so hurry up and get your fake penalties out there so we can appeal.

Good comments from Golden. This team has a lot to fix but it can be done. It is no longer a case of lack of depth or strength. The Canes have the players to win now.

Posted by: Not our rival | September 12, 2013 at 09:28 AM

Trust me, the sicko CLAIMS he will leave, but he will be back with something about the sanctions, or the baseball team, or the basketball team, even after football was done.

You are right, they are not our rival, and he should just leave. But he won't. Guaranteed.

So, getting back to the Canes, do you think the sanctions will include another bowl ban? I figure they will try it, but we will appeal, because we have already survived more than Oregon and Ohio State for far less than they did, combined.

Before the game, we were told Muschamp > Golden.

Watch both postgame press conferences, and tell me which coach you would rather have for your son, for your team, and for your image as a school.

Golden > Muschamp.

I don't think anymore bowl bans. I think a few schollys per year for 3 years and a 3 year probation.

With what went on at Penn State and now Big 12 and SEC, a few boat rides and chicken wings are peanuts in comparison.

Savannah State, thank you for visiting. I do hope that you understand what is about to happen is not personal. We just need to use you to prepare for that other Georgia team.

As for you, USF, what the heck happened to YOU? You guys were on a par with the top teams in the nation just five years ago, and now you lose to McNee State and Michigan State? I do hope that you understand what is about to happen to you IS personal. We owe you some more payback for the one lucky win you got against us. Your 15 minutes of fame are over, but we will likely give you a last bruise on your way out the door.

I know we don't DESERVE another bowl ban, but we embarrassed the NCAA, thanks to their own incompetence. They will want some more blood for that, even if it is not deserving. I think they are hoping to catch us in a generous mood where we say, okay, just let it be over, and that way they can still look tough while being a rubber stamp for other schools' misbehavior.

I think they will slip one in there, FORCING an appeal, thanks to that lie of lack of institutional control. Then they will add 15 scholarships over three years, and that way if we appeal it down to five, they still look like they won.

We will be the last majorly sanctioned team before they change the rules to only punish coaches and not schools or players. What a coincidence....

Good comments from Golden. This team has a lot to fix but it can be done. It is no longer a case of lack of depth or strength. The Canes have the players to win now.
Posted by: Sunny Dee | September 12, 2013 at 09:31 AM
And no longer a case of lack of experience, too much coaching turnover, and catching teams at their hottest (Kansas State, Notre Dame).

It is a great change of pace, and things are falling into place for Golden the way they did for Larranaga. Now if coach Morris can get some of that mojo going, it would be a nice trifecta for the Canes.

Oh, and gatr troll, for you to come in here whining about what happened in the gator blog this week, you reap what you sow. Regular Canes fans commented in that blog and got visciously attacked, so all that you had left were those that were itching for a fight.

You earned your response, don't turn around and act shocked when it happens.

FiveTitles, I agree that ultimately there will be some back and forth so that the NCAA tries to save face. I disagree with you that the Canes embarrassed the NCAA. They embarrassed themselves. That clown Emmert is a buffoon.

A couple comments about how our offense turned vanilla after we got the big lead. We didn't want to give up any plays to our real opponents in the ACC, so Coley went vanilla. After all, beating on the gatrs was already agiven, so we just did enough on offense to win the game, and let the defense have their fun with the turnovers.

Hey, if the gatr trolls can claim that about Pease, then we can do the same. We were hiding our playbook from a tougher opponent in Savannah State. Well maybe not them, but Georgia Tech and North Carolina and Florida State for sure.

sorry, I look at the stats and data then draw an opinion......not drink koolaid like most here.....

last year UM defense had average:

79 plays / 486 defensive yards....

florida game was 77 plays / 413 yards.....

so all this talk from golden that the defense was out there a long time is BS as always.....the defense was out there shorter.....77 plays vs 79 last year average....

Florida was in the red zone 6 times vs UM @ 2......

Florida time of possession was 38.20 vs opponent last year average of 33.4 last year.....what you want is a LOWER time (more 3 and outs lower the times).....it was higher so the defense has a LONG way to go

golden/dnofrio still s...ck

Naw, Gallo. YOU s..ck. Ask anyone on this blog other than your puppet, Tubby Harriet.

Gallo, what does this stat tell you?

Gators took over 57 minutes to score in the double digits. Miami took less than 15.

How about this one?

21-16.

Or how about the fact that one of their trips in the red zone was due to a blocked punt. You blame the defense for that red zone excursion, too?

dont worry......old time canes will run golden/dnofrio out of town.....only a matter of time.......

send them back to NJ where they both belong.....next year they will definitely feel the heat since all of shannons guys that will make his year this year will graduate......

Gallo is a self-proclaimed stats dweeb.

But the Gallo maggot is missing the most important stat of all:

"W"

'nuff said.

Gallo looks at the stats?

As Bill Belichick is fond of saying and certainly applies to Gallo... "Stats are for losers!"

All Gallo's recent attack proves is stats mean nothing only the final score.

If at the end of the year Gallo thinks his Gators ranking should be higher because of their stats in the Miami game...I wish them good luck on that mission.

Gallo guaranteed that the Gators would beat Miami and Coaches Golden and D'Onofrio would fall flat on their faces so he's terribly disappointed having been proven wrong once again.

Finally, here's a stat for your list Gallo...Miami 21 Florida 16!!!

And by the way Gallo...

Al Golden is the best coach in all of college football!!!

Caning, I agree that Emmert is a buffoon, and as the face of the NCAA, he makes them all buffoons.

I just don't like the fact that it is a buffoon with a grudge and an agenda.

Seeing Manzell get away with it in one six hour interview just made it even more obvious.

golden is the best coach in college football?.....compared to who?

give me names...

Gallo, you seem to think you have all the answers so no names necessary. You are a maggot.

F@ck you, Gallo.

You know that Gallo list of Golden Casualties? I wonder if he has done the same for the gatrs.

I mean, they just had another decommitment thanks to the guy seeing how terrible the offense is. And add to that the arrested players, the suspended players, the all bark no bite players, the transfers, the busts, and I bet that list is alot longer and more accurate than his list of Golden casualties.

But we know he is obsessed with hating the Canes, so he would never do that to his beloved and .500 Gators.

At this point Gallo and Calvin look really stupid AFTER ALL THEIR LABORED posts.....for what reason? Foe us now to tell you how stupid you look?

Calvin...you claim to be a know it all....AS A CANE FAN for many years I knew in my gut this defense would be better this year and it is.

you have an axe to grind....unfortunately it was and is to NO avail.

Gallo....your just dumb....plain and simple....I cant explain DUMB....AT LEAST CALVIN would make sense some times.....you....just dumb..not even funny dumb....ANNOYING DUMB.

THATS THE WORST KIND!!

The Gators had 96 yards of total offense in the second half, 44 of them on their first drive, gefore getting 60 cheap ones on their last garbage time TD.

That's 52 yards of offense between their first and last posessions of the game.

Great D. Great win.

and UM had a total of 212 total offense or 66 per half....how weak can you get.....

WR 1 Allen Hurns - sr

LCB 5R Roberson,M. - jr

give me a break.....florida defense was younger and UM offense got shut out.....

so since all these idiot bloggers call florida the "mighty" defense.....says it all about dnofrio....

golden/dnofrio just giving us a snow job is all

Well, after all the spectacularly egregious offense come to light via our "friends" at SI, we KNOW what the NCAA is going to do....MAKE AN EXAMPLE OF UM!!
Hundreds of thousands in cash, no academics, hookers on campus masquerading as "hostesses", drugs on campus, and Okie State will a get a pass, because "It's in the past." As if our "offenses" weren't?
If we get anything more than 5-10 scholarships for a couple years and maybe a probationary period, and they don't throw the book at OKSt, We need to hire some Vegas guys to do a little house cleaning. LOL
As to the NEWEST SEC muck, nothing will happen to the big 3, 'Bama, TN and Mississippi St. The others will get excoriated.

Now Gallo is claiming Florida was younger than the Canes, thus they were at a huge disadvantage...this after his seemingly never ending whining posts and lists that Coach Golden (The best coach in all of college football) was using the Canes being young and inexperienced as a phony excuse.

Which is it Gallo...what statements did you, are you lying about? You can't have it both ways...

Quoting Bill Belichick... "stats are for losers!" Have someone explain that to you.
