UM 2014 quarterback commit Alin Edouard of Hialeah High decommits -- wasn't feeling the love

Just got off the phone with HIaleah coach Marc Berman, who confirmed that dual-threat quarterback Alin Edouard has decommitted from the Miami Hurricanes.

The news was first reported by SFHSSports.com.

This comes as no surprise. It was just a matter of time. I don't think anyone who knows anything about the situation ever thought Eduoard would be a Hurricane.

Someone well entrenched with the Hurricanes told me more than a month ago that Edouard was not expected to play at UM. The Hurricanes already have West Hills (Calif.) Chaminade High junior Brad Kaaya, a 6-4, 213-pound, four-star pro-style quarterback (Rivals) committed to UM for 2014, as well as three-star (Rivals) quarterback Malik Rosier of Mobile, Ala.

Rivals.com has Edouard as a three-star player. He told me in the spring that he was 6-1 1/2. He weighs about 180.

When I talked to Alin in May, he told me that UM, his "dream school'' that he orally pledged to in February, was no longer a lock.

He said back then that the coaches had barely communicated with him, and that then-new offensive coordinator James Coley had only talked to him for the first time through a private message on Facebook.

Just now, Berman told me he was contacted by Edouard this morning and told of the news.

"According to what he told me,'' Berman said, "He wasn't feeling it like before. He just didn't feel the same way. A lot of schools give him a lot of communication via social media and things like that, and I guess he wasn't getting that kind of feedback from Miami. He felt it would be better to keep his options open at this particular time.

"He wants to play this season and make a decision after this season.''

Edouard threw for 198 yards and ran for more than 60 yards this weekend, Berman said, in Hialeah's 32-0 victory over Miami Springs.

Berman said he is a huge Al Golden and UM supporter, and does not tell his players where they should or shouldn't go.

"I think Coach Golden has done a great job since he's been at Miami,'' Berman said. "I have a good relationship with a lot of those coaches. My job is to give my players as many opportunities as they can get. I tell them the pros and cons. ''

Edouard completed 64 of 132 passes for 926 yards and nine touchdowns, with nine interceptions as  a junior last season. He ran for 559 yards and seven touchdowns.

Edouard is good friends with former Miami Northwestern quarterback Teddy Bridgewater, in his junior season at Louisville. In May, Edouard told me he had talked to at least two Louisville coaches, including head coach Charlie Strong, and was very interested in the Cardinals.

Edouard also noted Syracuse, USF and Tennessee as options to replace UM should he decommit, which obviously, has now happened. Berman also named Cincinnati, Wisconsin and Nebraska as school that had expressed interest in Edouard.

"The only thing I know,'' Berman said, "is he had been trying to call the UM coaches during the week. I know he spoke to someone at UM via social media to inform them."

how can an offensive player "freelance"? He only mentions corners on defense. But O-Line and RBs twice respectively. I'm sincerely confused.

Receivers breaking off routes or improvising. RBs not following blocks. c'mon man.

"D" sounds suspiciously like the one who refers to himself as 'Dashi." (even with all the "Eh What say" crap)

Gallo, Don't forget, OHIO is not Ohio State, at halftime they had like 4 yards passing.
Teddy is a terrific player playing in a weaker than ACC conference, so lets watch a while before declaring him the greatest ever.
I discount last season's Florida/UL bowl game, as the gators laid down and died, like the losers they will prove to be this year, once UM scores 37 points on them.
Whomever said neither team would score 30 points, I believe you are wrong.

Gallo's stupid list includes

Sony michel. Thank you but no thank you. This weekend showed why. Sony had 55 yds. Yeardby 248. Next!

Eduoard. Hes no pro style QB. At 6 ft 1.5, hes another Robert Marve. Dual threat? That means you play safety like highsmith II. Next!

I can go on and on with this lame a55 list, and I can destroy his weak argument one by one, but i wont.

........

Ok another topic. UF on a relatively safe and effective day by Driskel puts 24 on ...wait for it...Toledo. And some here think they can a) put more points on Miami, and b) hold Miami to less than 6 points?

Ha ha ha. Funny.

When Shannon was coach, Gallo was bitching about him under a different name. Everyone know that he is a miserable old man with few friends who hides money in his mattress because he is so paranoid. What a truly pathetic excuse for a man....

Cane in London,

The jury is still out if Gallo is a man...

D....I mean Nevin.....stfu already you complete loser

Calgalloharriet....and that was against a defense that had 1 returning starter.

Uf has a horrible offense. How many punts did they have lol? Miami will win easy. Our offense will have a special day. Miami is back you can bet that. Gator fans will be crying in there hillbilly camoflauge hats lol. Muschmp will be crying too. Ill be back on here laughing at 4 on sat. Bet that!!!!!!!!!!!!¡¡¡!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Miami should win this game easily. Florida gators are no different from FAU this year. The SEC is over hype. Thank you Clemson Tigers. Go canes it's your turn blast the gators and the SEC.

And we came out looking like that against a 3 & FAU team. Real True Cane fans were more impressed with the effort FAU gave than what we saw from us.

People have been harping on the o-line, but what people have to understand is this, the reason our o-line didn't look good early on is simple, they're use to going up against guys not being asked to get up field, than come game time, a team like FAU is playing defense the way it should be played, and it takes our o-line guys a lil bit of time to get adjusted. This is why what Cane72 keeps harping on is very very important if you want to play strong defense.

If you want hope defense, run a 3-4. Also, for all those sweating Bama's defense, the running back for V-tech had alot of yards, before the half.

I'm fighting tears, thanks Calvin.

I miss my team.

lol, hold it together dawg, this video is beautiful man, especially from CAMPBELL to AL BLADES. Real UM football, you know, the suff that troll shalala cringes at. she use to be pissed off that butch davis would let them say that. But did keep it one hundred tho, if troll shalala didn't like, just don't come round the team cause that's how we doing it. Look at how many strong personalities you had on that coaching staff, the troll couldn't get no where with them.

Calvin, I just want to let U know that what I'm reading from U is the truth and I appreciate U telling it, despite it not being popular (truth-telling), and it being so hard to except. Living lies is so comfortable for people now, seeing that their whole lives are based off of them and they've come to love them and find them so comfortable, that the truth elicits anger and hostility from them.

Gallo & CaneFan'72 its refreshing to know that other people still understand our essence and this smokescreen of mediocrity that we're being served up. We're like the people from The Walking Dead who haven't been bitten. We stay on the defense literally and figuratively (stressing its importance and being attacked for doing so). Keep defending this U! I pray that we're wrong and Golden wakes up.

Don't worry, no matter how many of those fake wanna be Cane fan buzzards post, we are the keepers of what True & real Hurricane football is, and we will continue to chastise coach goldie and his minions along with his as you perfectly put it "the non UM but goldie fans" and keep them in check when need be as long as he's here. Our all combine team will get tested next week, i just want to see how our receivers react to that press-man coverage all game long, i'm thinking except allen hurns, the rest of our receivers might get shell shocked at first like our o-line seemed to be the first game.

There are currently 16 teams n the NFL running the 3-4 or a hybrid of the 3-4. Most of those teams are at the top of their respective divisions There are other teams who have stated they are considering the 3-4 hybrid, because it is the wave of the future.

The Miami Hurricanes run a 3-4 hybrid and last night saw them on many occasions in a 4-3. They also ran a variety of other schemes that saw them unveil blitz packages that could not be employed last year due to the lack of experience, size, strength and speed of many of the players.

All of the above has been explained one thousand times, if not more, to the not so swift Calvin/Gallo alias, amongst many other lies and misleading comments coming from that alias.

Of course facts are of no interest to "it" as the goal is to make Coach Golden look bad and for recruits who visit this site to read that nonsense.

The lie that our offensive line had trouble Friday night because they don't practice against an aggressive 4-3 scheme in practice is ignorant on three fronts and once again demonstrates the total lack of football knowledge that Calvin/Gallo possesses. First, the defense always practices against the opposing teams they will be facing all the way back to Spring practice and during the week or two leading up to the game. Secondly, as stated above, our defense regularly runs a 4-3 scheme in practice, which our offensive linemen practice against. And finally, the offensive line looked great in run schemes and pass blocking, which saw Duke run for just shy of 200 yards in less than 3 quarters.

Calvin/Gallo...the worst part? You're not even a good liar!

I do not blame him he saw what the rest of us did at how strong Kaaya was at the elite 11 competition and Olsen on campus and was smart enough to get out

This ish keeps happening!

You guys bring the drinks, I got the ICE.

The reality is UF is a more complete team. BUT, UM can win this. Miami has not beaten anyone credible for many years, this is huge if Golden is to turn it around. For UF, just play great defense and they should win. Miami has to prove they can play defense. Both offenses are suspect. If UM can not drop the passes like Friday, they get the edge on offense. UF does not seem to have the deep threat. Take away number 8, and their receivers are young. It should be a close game, mistake will kill either side. It's time for Golden and these canes to make a statement, GO CANES

Under the latest foolish (il)logic of Lady Calvin, our O-line is no good because our D-line is no good so they get no practice.

If that view carried any weight, how did GT ever defend a pass, since they only saw 2 or 3 PER DAY in practice?

This game should not be close. Florida is all defense. Miami offense should go to a short passing game ball control offense and ware down the defense. Take what the defense gives you.You will not have a lot of time to go deep.Play to Morris strengths. Don't force him to win the game. Duke might serve you better as a decoy for the first half of the game. Second half turn him loose

About Edouard, "UM not showing the love." How much hand holding is required after a university offers a kid and his parents a free $250,000 dollar education? From where I sit that is an attitude of entitlement starting to reveal itself.

I think Edouard is a good young man and a very good qb but this back and forth stuff with him is getting tiresome.

Good luck at Tennessee and based on what I am hearing
(have many friends in Nashville)that is where he is headed! He will do well there.

Not that it's funny, you go from celebrating to trying to hold on. Blame that on the b.s. celebration rules committee, seems likes that's the only one all the college teams can do now, i don't like the predictable crap myself i keep thinking somebody is going to twist and ankle. He's what's hypocritical about the rule, they say a celebration can't be something that seems coordinated, well if everybody is doing the same obvious celebration, it might be coordinated but it sure seems that way.

One of my favorite plays after all this attention kept being paid and talked about when it came to celebrations is, watching shockey play, they wouldn't call nothing on him and i was glad. In that nebraska game after his first catch, shock got up hype.

Tennessee has a pro style system. Always has. Eduoard will go to a different position there

UM 44
UF 17

Not even fing close with them necks

Good luck to young Mr. Edouard. It seems as though he has been trying to decommit every since he committed. I honestly don't think he feels he can compete with Kaaya and Olsen and doesn't wish to change positions. As a Cane fan I wish him the very best and hope he finds a place that he can fulfill his dreams.

We got Olsen who is not playing this year and 2 QB's for the 2014 class. We got Crow who's a redshirt F and Williams who's a junior. Exactly how many QB's do we need? By the way Williams couldn't scramble an egg but he's got a nice arm.

Posted by: AnonymusCane | September 02, 2013 at 08:17 AM

I hear ya Anonymous but Alin has 15 other schools offering him a full-ride as well, so the decision comes down to more than just who's gonna pay for his schooling. Who knows what his major is and could be that another school has a superior program in that field of study. And *if* he's feeling a little entitled, whose fault is that--the game's or the player? He didn't create this selfish system. U can make a case that he shouldn't have committed early, but weighing one's options (when U have options available) does not mean a person is feeling entitled. Our offense looked stagnant and labored and Louisville's looked smooth and less restricted. Bridgewater has no sour grapes--sour grapes regarding what? He's balling out and his team is, so???? He and Alin are life-time Hurricane fans, but Bridgewater didn't believe in our coaching vision. He saw what was and continues to be coaching instability and a lack of continuity at OC with our football program. He saw what Jacory was and what he became (how he left UM). And they have very similar styles. As does Edouard.

..."More recently, NFL.com analyst Bucky Brooks said Morris "might be the most talented quarterback in college football" after watching him at the Manning Passing Academy. And where is the Gator program?
Flappin and yappin' with no tangible results for 3 years and counting.

Jesus H. Christ, you're just a florida fan...not a Bama fan. Can you at least win in a DIVISION, or beat a ranked team in a bowl before you get a little too loud and proud on this blog?

Very funny stuff.
Keep it coming!

Stephen A. Smith is ripping Louisville about their schedule. They have one of the easiest schedule in college ball...no ranked teams on their schedule!!! He said Bridgewater is not Heisman-Worthy playing against such a weak schedule!!

Either you want to run through the smoke or you don't. Either you want to carry the legacy or you don't.
Either you want a degree from the best academic institution in the state or you don't.
Either you want to be a Miami Hurricane more than anything like Duke, or you don't.

Miami is a small private school and does not compare to any other D1 institution in the state. The location is unique and there's no other place in the country like it. If Edouard wants to leave his back yard and look elsewhere he's entitled to do that. Everyone knows he wants to be in Miami just like Teddy did. To be honest neither of them would play. Teddy is good but not better that Morris in our current system. Edouard would need to play receiver or corner here. He's not beating anyone we have or may be bringing in.

One thing I notice about Teddy is his receivers are running free (good scheme vs bad opponent) and catch the ball! He tends to float the ball at times though. He's good where he's at and I hope he does well.

We gonna be alright - can't wait till the 7th!

First, an egomaniac/pseudo-intellectual would never admit to not understanding something or being confused, while also asking for clarity. If i were into appearances like U all, I'd never exhibit any weakness or vulnerability.

Like I said, Golden admittedly used that term "freelancing" in a weird way, he said it himself. I've heard him say verbatim that WRs broke off routes and RBs didn't finish blocks, but I've never heard those things referred to as "freelancing." Why he chose to call those issues "freelancing" was just confusing to me at least. He usually uses that verbiage for the defense, since their roles are more reactionary. Offensive plays are more scripted, so why improvise? And if a player improvised in the game, that same bad habit had to be observed in practice, camp, and scrimmages, so why do we have players in the 2 deep who are still "freelancing" on offense? Why are they on the field? And if our 2 deep depth is "freelancing", then what were WR Jontevious Carter and RB Danny Dillard doing two years in the system and in UTough before they were dismissed? I would've though those were the mistakes they'd be making, not the players in the 2 deep. Just sayin.

To be considered such a "smart a$%", I sure do ask a lot of questions, but they're never answered. The one time I get a response, its like duh!, dummy, "c'mon man."

Anyone know what the derogatory usage of "freelancing" is? As coach put it.

Not even fing close with them necks
Posted by: Calgallharriet leave this blog | September 02, 2013 at 09:19 AM

U are a neck as well. The only difference is that U prefer green with your orange jorts and they prefer blue with their orange jorts. Simple.

Stephen A. Smith is right about their schedule, but its funny that dudes are quoting him as if his word somehow carries weight now that he saying something that they actually agree with--which is probably rare.

Morris > Bridgewater aint LOL, but I just don't agree at this juncture. I mean its afact that SteMo hasn't beat a solid ranked opponent yet (his numbers actually plummet against them). Bridgewater absolutely iced UF's 5th ranked defense last season. Morris has never done such a thing when the lights are at their brightest.

Indications are that the "U" will be ranked in the top 25 when the latest polls come out. The "U" could be ranked anywhere between 25 and 23. Go Canes.

WE have a top 4-5 class right now, HELLO KEVIN OLSEN IS REDSHIRTING and Then Edoourard has Kayaa and the Alabama kid coming in. HE IN THINKIN, WHEN WOULD HE SEE THE FIELD???

PROPS to the kid, and props to golden for honoring a commit. He knew the kid would see the light...We didn't have Kayaa or the ala qb when alin committed.

Kevin olsen will be starting over Ryan Williams next yr

Hey Cal,

If Shalala didn't like it you think Tad Foote did? He was strung much tighter than Donna. Donna is by far one of the more liberal Presidents in the country and known to be a "partier among the presidents". Donna went to bat for a lot of kids and still does even though she' been burned by the Willie Williams of the world. She gave Randy a fair shot too. He got that job because she advocated for him! Internally she carried it for Randy! Believe that!

Were you there when she came in?

Check the record before you ride on her man.

Posted by: Calvin | September 01, 2013 at 10:12 PM

Shalala never overlapped with Davis you f*cking idiot.

Hurricane tidbits and what not.

Sin City oddsmaker's see MIGHTY Florida as a - 3 point road chalk. At least for the time being. hUh

And the Overs/Unders currently holds at... - 49. dUh

The line between Miami and the Gators OPENED with the mighty Gators as a... -2 point road favorite. Get outta' here, outsider!

However, early action from the sagacious Wise Guys moved the line one point. Which is NOT very good news for y'all Cane good ol' boys. Eh. What say.

More LINE MOVEMENT later in the week will give the DEGENERATES a sublte clue on which team to bet.

For what's it worth. I'm thinking the line will move another POINT by Friday, and I SEE-r Florida being a game time... - 4 point chalk. Whatever, Dork.

As I SAGACIOUSLY stated previously, the winner will be determinded by the better head coach and coaching coordinators. hUh.

Unfortunately for y'all Cane bUbba's, Miami's defensive coordiantor is still bumming around in upscale Coral Gables. Abeit I give him MEGA-credit for the F.A.U. game and what not. Seriously I do, Hurricane rUffian!

To win this game, we must run the ball effectively and we must stop the run defensively.

We have to get Duke off on 1st and 2nd down and we have to stop Matt Jones on those same downs. Our O-Line must get to the second level of their defense when they pull. Our WRs are EXCELLENT blockers and if our Guards and Tackles can get a hat on their LBs--Duke is gone (this goes for any play that he's carrying the ball--against any opponent). Matt Jones needs to learn early and often that nothings doing today. That will have a much worst effect on Driskell's confidence if he sees that they can't run. I would run blitz on first and 2nd down. While being disciplines enough to watch for screens, hitches, an swing passes out the backfield. I would employ the same defense OSU deployed on Us and Dorsey in the 2002 NC game. Attacking blitzkrieg. Kacy Rodgers and Highsmith are wasted players back in pass coverage. When they're in--they blitz full-speed. Bush & Jenkins can stay back.

We can definitely beat UF. Our players are talented and experienced enough. Its whether they will be poised and prepared adequately by their coaching.

This game comes down to the middle of the field where I don't trust SteMo's reads and patience, but that is also Florida weakest part of their defense. If we can challenge their 2nd level with the run and pass--free of turnovers--we win easily.

Their secondary is littered with NFL 2nd and 3rd round talent. So the LBs are our target in coverage and against the run. Our WRs cancel their DBs out against the run, but they're DBs are superior to our WRs man to man. This game is on the run blocking and SteMo's decision-making.

UM DBs = UF WRs, so its time to put them on somewhat of an island and see what they can do. Gunter, Tracy Howard, and Crawford should be fine IF that run blitz can cause havoc and shorten their coverage time.

Our defense has weaknesses on every level, but theirs only has one and its the middle/2nd level/LBs. D'No is gonna have to scheme from play to play.

To win this game, we must run the ball effectively and we must stop the run defensively

!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Voila

However, the Hurricanes LACK a " down hill BRUISING runner! " And that could be costly in SHORT-YARD situations and what not.

By the way, wasn't STORMY WEATHER Johnson that type of running back. Y'all know, a down hill BRUISING sort of runner. Huh

By the way Cane partisans.

DON'T bloody ' sleep ' on the ETHICHAL s.e.c. game officials. Because in a tight game it could come down to a CONTROVERSIAL call or two. Heck, there could be three controversial calls FAVORING the MIGHTY Gators. Get outta' here with that conspiracy crap, Wacko!

D, I thought Gus Edwards looked good. But as i said, our O-Line hardly ever hits one player and disengages to take on another (I see other teams o-lines do this routinely) we seem to just engage and hold up one dude, who simply does a swim technique arm motion, freeing himself to reach around and grab our RBs. The only O-Linemen i see getting up field is Figueroa. I believe Flowers may have these bad intentions for LBs as well! Dallas Crawford and my boy Clements aren't slouches, but are also dependent on consistent maulings upfront. The O-Line should be able to keep these dudes clean until the 2nd level. Too many moves being made in the backfield by RBs because of lazy blocking.

Posted by: HarrietTubmanCane | September 02, 2013 at 02:05 PM

I'm sure Art will address that this week. Not saying it will be solved, but i'm sure it will be addressed and we will game-plan accordingly.

Beware of the camp champs, those things are just like combines. Reminds of hearing how a player can throw a ball 70 yards on 1 knee, WHO CARES, that's not a play you gone see in a game, all i want to know is can he move the chains and put the offense in the endzone, anything outside of that, means nothing. From what i saw Friday night, same ole stephen morris, will make some throws and will throw alot of untimely passes, to many times on third downs like last year he keeps throwing to the man that's well short of the first down mark.

Whoever keeps saying "troll shalala went to bat for willie williams" you must be full time clown & part-time imbecile. Who in the hell did shalala have to go to bat for a recruit for, she's the president. And if you call going to bat basically putting that man on probation the whole time he was here with all those restrictions before he even set foot on campus, this must be a joke.

It's clear and on record, shalala said "We're recruiting a different kind of athlete to the University of Miami" sending that signal out to try and say it's safe to come to Miami now, you don't have to be afraid of our football players either, lol. It's ok, i know double agents when i see them, she part of the planned work, and coach goldie has the baton and keeps running with it up to all kind of other areas, but with james coley here now, if he's not allowed to do what he does, it'll be even clearer!
