UM is a 60-point favorite over Savannah State. Would you take that bet?

The Miami Hurricanes are favored at home by 60 points against Savannah State at 7 p.m. Saturday.

Per @RJinVegas, it is only the third recorded 60+ spread in college football since 1980.

So, just wondering: Would you take that bet?

(Note: FSU was a 65-point fave over Savannah State last year. The Seminoles won 55-0 on Sept. 8th, 2012.)

Also, how many points do you think Canes have to score, regardless of spread, to stay around where they are in the rankings? Obviously, much of that is dependent on what others do, but was just thinking about it.

Giving 60 points is a suckers bet, no chance I give that many, especially for a Miami team that is known for class and taking it's foot off the pedal when up big.

The "U" will not embarrass Savannah State. No need to win a game by some 60 points versus a team like that. Go Canes

I wouldn't take it either. Golden does not seem like the type of coach to run up a ridiculous score. My prediction is 49-0, after being up 35-0 at halftime.

Nope.

This game is a chance for us to see our depth at multiple positions and makes our players tuned for the ACC games that follow.

Make no mistake we will play tough aggressive football, but our play book will be held to a vanilla mode.

The O especially after so much was expected have something to prove, and I am sure they will step up.

This is not a game for taking or giving points.

The score would be meaningless.
It is a game situation workout. GT, NC, Va Tech, Fl.St. can watch this game, but will get nothing but performance levels of our depth.
Go 'Canes

Calvin thinks Savannah State will win because Randy Shannon had dinner near their campus about 6 months ago.

That's all it takes for his coaching prowess to rub off on them.

TROLLOLOLOL!!!!! ARGH!!!

Never understood people who get offended by blowouts - like Shannon did with Urban Meyer's late game field goal.

This isn't the NFL, how much you win by matters in the polls, blowouts matter in the polls. If you're not doing everything you can to win by as many points as possible you're not doing your job as a coach.

Good thing USF isn't playing Savannah State, or it might be a good game!

NO I WOULD NOT TAKE THAT BET BECAUSE GOLDEN IS "TOO OLD SCHOOL" TO TRY AND SCORE MORE THAN 60 POINTS. THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH THAT AND THE FOCUS SHOULD BE GETTING THIS OFFENSE GOING AND MAINTAINING A GOOD DEFENSIVE APPROACH(DON'T LET THEM SCORE)AND PLAYING TIME FOR OUR YOUNG PLAYERS. I WOULD TURN MORRIS LOOSE TO PUT UP 5-6 TOUCHDOWNS ASAP SO WE CAN TAKE HIM OUT,,GET DUKE 100YARDS AND TAKE HIM OUT. EMPHASIZE TO THE BACKUPS THAT THEIR JOBS ARE TO EXECUTE AND PLAY "MIAMI " FOOTBALL AND THIS GAME SHOULD END 58-0 WITH COUPLE OF "OTHER SCORES" BESIDES OFFENSIVE (ARTIE BURNS/ELDER) LOOK FOR STACY COLEY TO GET HIS FIRST UM TOUCHDOWN AND IF GOLDEN ALLOWS LOOK FOR RYAN WILLIAMS TO THROW 2 TDS. I HOPE WE GET TO SEE KEVIN OLSEN PLAY ALSO. GO CANES!! STAY HEALTHY DO NOT LET THEM SCORE.. DEFENSE NEEDS THIS SHUTOUT FOR CONFIDENCE FOR REST OF THE SEASON. DO NOT TAKE THE 60 PT BET.

Hey Calvin, did [[_]] forget that our defense stopped a dumb 2 point conversion that some idiot coach called up after the blocked punt and a 9 yard TD run by Driskel. I guess it wasn't motivation for our defense to keep u out of the end zone another time in the red zone or maybe it was the spark that said these guys can't score on us!! And I'm not sure because I was having to much fun shoving all the BS that comes out of gator fans mouths back into there face but who calls for the field goal kicker to come out on 3rd down, 1st down, 3rd down, and another 3rd down when u turned it over. So what I think is if u kick the extra point instead of going for 2 it would of been 21-17 so last time I checked that is still a W for the [[_]]

What was funny about the 2 point conversion try is, they only did it because they felt like they'd score on us all game long. This defensive scheme is designed specifically for redzone purposes in mind, which once the field shrinks, the scheme becomes that much stronger, so when teams take chances, they're going to either turn the ball over or get 3 points, but you'll be able to drive up & down the field on this defensive scheme we run. As predicted, jeff driskell had a career day against us but he also paid for it.

This defensive scheme tries to lull you to sleep and gives you a false sense of security in the redzone, i understand it but i'm still a 4-3 man myself where the principle is to not give up nothing. Anyway, it was a good win no doubt, but consistency is the key.

They felt like they were going to score on us all game long?

Really?

Teams who do that and go for it on 4th down in field goal range do that out of DESPERATION dummy.

What's it like to be wrong about every single thing you think and then write?

Finally, Calvin posted comments I can agree with, other than the 4-3 statement.

Youre a 4-3 man who has no clue about football.

Your boy Jimmy Johnson's defense in 1984 gave up 45 pplus points to a midget named Flutie and gave up a 31-0 half time lead.

Your boy Shannon's defense allowed USF to beat us by a walk on freshman who drove down the field

Please. Mr 4-3 guy. STFU. You are no longer allowed to post here. You are banned

I agree with most posts. 60 is a suckers bet. But what's wrong with scoring 70? 77?

Georgia Tech beat Elon 70-0 on 08/31, and barely received any votes in the polls. They beat them with turnovers, defense, and scored basically on nearly every possesion.

If Miami puts 40 on them by the half, guaranteed that the 2s and 3s will come in to finish the game. What if the 2s and 3s continue to move the ball? I am sure Golden will turn to a basic running game. But will that benefit our struggling offense? It wont even be like a practice scrimmage where you can identify and work on what you are struggling with!

Defense cannot. I repeat cannot allow more than 7 points on the board.

Golden is going to get the young guns some reps, if we score that many, then we do. Got to get these young guns some playing time for the future!!!

The odds of Miami getting a SHUT OUT this Saturday evening over MORIBUND Savannah St., are GREATER than the Canes bloody COVERING the Vegas point spread. dUh

By the way, I gave Cane bUbba an easy tout Saturday past, i.e., MIGHTY U.C.L.A. over an OVERRATED Go BIG ot RED neck team. Too bad the South Florida DEGENERATES looked the other way!

Oh, STAY AWAY from that - 60 point spread, because Goldie is too CLASSY of a head coach/man to run up the score. Eh. What say.

what a disgrace for UM to be playing teams with a 60 point spread.......total embarrassment.....

that's 1 way to having a winning season, lol

I guess I'll give y'all Cane good ol' boys another FREE tout later this week. Because I'm still waiting for the WISE GUYS to place HEAVY ACTION on a particular game. hUh.

Too bad y'all Cane bUbba's CAN'T figure out which game I'm waiting on. Eh. What say.

Gambling 101.

Heavy action = The Wise Guys wagering thousands and thousands of dollars on a particular bet.

And, not YOUR typical good ol' boy wager of $10 or $20 or even $50. dUh

Oh, I fall somewhere BETWEEN the Armani suit wearing Wise Guy and YOUR quite ordinary Cane bubba. Well, at least in my wildest imagination. Get outta' here, Oddball!!

Gallo,
Did you complain when FSU played them last season?

Jimbo gallA is your TYPICAL dense, good ol' boy. Nothing more and nothing less.

Oh, I still CAN'T FIGURE out why the VAST MAJORITY of Canespace/eoth bUbba's (SarasotaCane/Canes4Life/CANEZ1, to name a few. ) WANTED that Mad Hatter Pellini as a head coach.

I guess most of those Canespace/eoth good ol' boys and the UPTIGHT, RIGID Bo Pellini SHARE the same GENETIC traits of being ANGRY, VIOLENT, and An*l-retentive.

Get outta' here with that Psycho babble, Freak'!!

I HOPE WE GET TO SEE KEVIN OLSEN PLAY ALSO. GO CANES!! STAY HEALTHY DO NOT LET THEM SCORE.. DEFENSE NEEDS THIS SHUTOUT FOR CONFIDENCE FOR REST OF THE SEASON. DO NOT TAKE THE 60 PT BET.

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

QB Olson is going to REDSHIRT this season. hUh

Remember D is the moron who was touting Alabama as a lock last week. They failed to cover.

Not sure why Calvina when launching his Driskell PR nonsense about his "career day", he fails to mention his 2 pics and sack/fumble which cost him the game. Why would anyone care how many yards he threw for? With those turnovers, that's the kind of "career day" that would get you sat down. Oh right, the turds would need another qb to do that.

@@@@@@@@@@@@

Yes, I was wrong about the Roll Tide Roll tout, yet I had U.C.L.A. and the Unders ( Opening - 42 1/2 points ) in the B.C. vs. U.S.C. game.

Too bad that mountainLout DON'T have the STONES to make any sort of predictions.

Because all mountainLout is good for is RUNNING HIS MOUTH off!!

Now, WEASEL on back to that Canespace forum. Eh. What say.

I miss reading Gallo's lists. Don't you have any more names you can add to your list Gallo?

D, you have no clue what I bet on or didn't. You must be looking in that crystal ball you have, (the only one for sure). Don't use a mirror, when you look in, you will see gallo, calvin, and whatever other personalities you have looking back. Hey, you can actually have a conversation with someone who will listen.

I wouldn't take it either. Golden does not seem like the type of coach to run up a ridiculous score. My prediction is 49-0, after being up 35-0 at halftime.

This is about right.
Maybe throw in another special teams or defensive TD for a 56-0 final.

Do not give the points!

Who cares about the score. I just hope no one gets injured.
