Al Golden: QB Stephen Morris "seems to be doing great, making a lot of progress.'' However...

Coach Al Golden spoke on the ACC Teleconference this afternoon, and said his "chief concern'' regarding quarterback Stephen Morris, who has been playing very well the past few games, is getting him healthy for the UNC Tar Heels (1-4, 0-2 ACC) on Oct. 17.

Morris sustained a deep right-ankle bruise against Savannah State on Sept. 21, and as of Saturday against Georgia Tech it was hurting him pretty badly. Golden said after the victory that Morris always reassured him that he was fine whenever the coach asked leading up to the game, but that he obviously wasn't.

"We've held him out the last few days,'' Golden said. "We're being more aggressive in the treatment schedule, which we can be because we're not working on North Carolina yet. He seems to be doing great, making a lot of progress.''

Then, Golden added: "I'm not taking Stephen for his word anymore. I'm going to make sure myself that he's OK. Hopefully we'll get him OK here in the next 48 hours or 72 hours and get him ready for game week. There is no question he's been playing good football for us.''

*** Wide receiver Rashawn Scott (shoulder/collarbone) is also "doing great,'' Golden said. "He's close. He's running routes full speed and doing all that. Whether he's able to take a hit yet, I don't know. But he's running routes and doing all the non-contact stuff and looks pretty good.''

*** North Carolina coach Larry Fedora said he'd grade the performance of backup quarterback Marquise Williams "a B-, C+ type of situation'' in UNC's loss against Virginia Tech. Usual starter Bryn Renner did not play after sustaining a foot injury Sept. 28 against East Carolina.

Williams, a third-year sophomore, completed 23 of 35 passes for 277 yards and two touchdowns, with two interceptions. He also ran for 56 yards. Renner has already said he wants to play against Miami.

"Every rep that you get in a live situation is very important to any player, whatever position, but especially at the quarterback position,'' Fedora said. "He will just get better from that in the future.''

Golden said he'll prepare for both.

"I would suspect Renner will be back,'' Golden said. "He's one of the best quarterbacks in the league, and he's had an awesome career. So I'm sure they're happy to get him healthy.

"But we're going to see both in the game, and we'll have to get ready for both.''

***  UNC tight end Jack Tabb, who started at linebacker last Saturday against Virginia Tech and played both ways, is suspended for the first half of the UM game.

He was ejected with 4 minutes left for throwing a punch during a kickoff return.

"My version of the play was that Jack was retaliating to something that happened on the play, which you can't do,'' Fedora said. "Jack made a bad personal decision, and you have to be able to keep your poise in a situation like that, and he didn't do that, and therefore he was punished by the rule. That's really all there is to it.''

Tabb had just returned from a two-game suspension for violating team rules.

Calvin,

I'm going to tell you what still concerns me, and it already hurt us on a couple occasions, our defense not being set when a team goes no huddle. In the Gaytors game there were a couple times the entire defense was standing up looking to the sideline when the offense was down and ready to go. It didn't hurt us that game because they (Gaytors)play a methodical pace and never attempted to take advantage. I notice a time or two we were caught doing the same thing against Tech. UNC plays that style of offense from the get go.

I expect us to beat the stew out of UNC next Thursday, we have too much talent to accept anything less. imo

So, we are supposed to believe that this is a BRAND NEW person, posting with the same style as Grape Drank, Nino Brown, FBI, CaneTrash, Curse, Fact Check, etc. Yet somehow this brand new person, who has never, ever been here before, has read EVERY SINGLE POST on here for the past five years.

Then after he gets destroyed, he changes IDs, and complains that
1. We were mean to him.
2. We brought up his team even though today he is not mentioning his team (21-16, LOL!)
3. That his lies from yesterday cannot be used against him today.

Thank God he was gone all day, it was so much better being able to talk Canes without his disgusting comments.

Please don't come back, under any Fake Check ID, nobody here falls for that anymore.

JVille Cane, the part that bothers me about that is that when the Canes attempt to do that, the ref stands in front of the ball to stop us. Double standard by these ACC refs.

I live in Ohio and knew what was going on before Al Golden even came out to the media and said it. I love my Canes and knew 2 weeks ago this day was coming...When Morris said that a player had twisted his ankle on purpose...I record all games, I went back and watched THAT NEVER HAPPENED....HE SHOULD APOLOGIZE TO THAT TEAM, REMEMBER 2 DAYS LATER MORRIS SAID I HAVE MOVED ON FROM THAT(HE SAID IT WAS THE HEAT OF THE MOMENT) ANOTHER LIE

He is in Al's dog house more then U all think....

Not sure if anyone saw these tweets by Susan.

Susan Miller Degnan @smillerdegnan
If you haven't seen, from Bovada in LV: #UM #Canes 25/1 odds of winning BCS National Championship this season.

Susan Miller Degnan @smillerdegnan
#FSU 12/1 odds of winning BCS title this season -- #Gators 150/1 odds (NOT).

Now, before the season, our odds were much worse than that, and the gatrs odds were much better. Sure looks like one team is on the rise and the other is in freefall. I wonder what those 150-1 odds will be on Sunday. LOL!

.I record all games, I went back and watched THAT NEVER HAPPENED....HE SHOULD APOLOGIZE TO THAT TEAM, REMEMBER 2 DAYS LATER MORRIS SAID I HAVE MOVED ON FROM THAT(HE SAID IT WAS THE HEAT OF THE MOMENT) ANOTHER LIE

Really? You could see that clearly from the broadcast recording? It sounds more like you are a USF fan and their head coach.

Rick, why are you so upset with Morris? He thought someone had twisted his ankle in a pileup, left the game angry and hurting, but thought he could go. Full strength the next week. He made some very good throws, and some very poor ones, and as the announcers said, the limp was obvious. All players tell their coaches they are good to go as soon as the doctors clear them (with the exception of Jadaveon Clowney and Derrick Rose), so why rip him for something any competitor would do?

Now we must put up with 7 more years of the same diseased gatr manure:
LSU is a very good team
they only have 1 close loss
coulda won all those
they have such a good defense
it's soooooooooo scary playing out of state
what if it rains
they are very good against the run
their uniforms are too bright
they beat us by 30 last time we played there
they run fake field goals and that is just mean
blah, blah, blah
how pathetic do you sound every day Curse Piggy.
your life suuuuuuuuccckkkkkkkkkssssss
you should destroy them, if they were kentuck, tennesseee, or arkansas, but wait, they are not.
enough with the daily obsessive hatefilled foulmouthed trolling

HHOF inductee - go kick rocks with chancletas on

sicko "Fact Check" the foulmouthed hater, on 10/2.

"There is no excuse to drop any regular season ACC game, except FSU on the road. Even that one is winnable.
No room for any inferior team to sneak up and bite you as in years past, no excuse at all. This is one of those rare times when a fan can say this with certainty."
Posted by: Fact Check | October 02, 2013 at 02:21 PM

Then, less than one week later, in response to someone (not me) saying exactly that, we still have a chance to be undefeated going into the ACC Championship game, than not even saying it "with certainty".

"Will U be left standing after Nov 2nd?
Me thinks not
And then U will drop from your lofty #13 perch down to where U belong"
Posted by: Fact Check | October 09, 2013 at 12:29 PM

In other words, if Miami wins it was because their opponents were weak, but they will lose because their opponents are too tough for them. Remember, he will be here later today with a new ID and claim he never said these things, just like he claims he never said the other sick things that the Herald has deleted.

But just as an example here is one that the Herald missed, even though they demanded that he stop. Of course, he just changed IDs again and got away with it. Plus the Joe_MiamiHerald guy did not understand the sick reference, so he figured it was a basketball reference instead of a drug reference.

Go sling some rock for the Patas. Make dat dough and get yo own crib, homie.

""Go sling some rock..."
Posted by: Nino Brown | September 22, 2010 at 03:25 PM
This isn't basketball season. Could we please stick to the topic at hand. Thank you. -jo-"
Posted by: Joe_MiamiHerald | September 22, 2010 at 03:42 PM

Then, after it was explained to Joe_MiamiHerald what it meant, he had this to say:
"Well, that's not cool. I didn't catch the Pata reference. Some people have no respect. Karma will catch up to them. -jo-"
Posted by: Joe_MiamiHerald | September 22, 2010 at 03:55 PM

See, his recurring claim is that he is working undercover with the FBI to prove that Bryan Pata and Sean Taylor were killed for drug dealing, and he thinks that comments like that are funny. Even the Gator reporter was saying that he was going to far, but he still continues with his illness to this day. But there are enough of his foulmouthed lies that remain to show that this guy, in his many IDs, is still the same sicko. HHOF inductee is just his latest ID, don't be fooled by it.

Hate to be repetitive here but I think these trolls are getting under your skin a bit too much. Why dig up posts from 2010? What does that have anything to do with the subject at hand?
I know you are a passionate fellow and a good Cane fan but sometimes it's better to ignore these idiots and they will go away. Every time you answer them they come back for more.
This blog has gotten a lot better after we beat the Gators and kept on winning. I still believe the remaining trolls will slowly disappear if we ignore them.
Seems like every day there is some Cane fan that brings up the Gators in one form or another. Very frustrating.
I rather discuss the inside track we have for the Coastal championship. GaTech down, Carolina up next.
Away game on Thursday nite is dangerous but very winnable as long as we make no big mistakes.
Let's go Canes. Peace brothers.

Trying to understand Rick's blathering about Stephen Morris and Al Golden.

Coach Golden, the best coach in all of college football, discussed with Stephen if he was alright and could go. This after watching him at practice where he was moving around without any problem that local reporters confirmed. Stephen responds with a thumbs up.

Stephen starts the Georgia Tech game and it is clear he is not moving as he did in practice. Unfortunately, Georgia Tech came out like their hair was on fire and the Canes not so much, which meant pulling Morris could have been catastrophic. Despite Stephen's lack of mobility he threw for over 300 yards, 3 touchdowns and led the Canes to victory.

Back to ole looking out the earhole of his helmet Rick who is bellowing Morris is a liar and so is Al Golden, the best coach in college football. Stephen mans up and no matter the pain he goes for the Canes, which is what you pray is the mindset of all your players...tough as nails and will never quit on his team. Yet, Blind Mellon Rick sees those qualities as negatives.

As I predicted in a earlier post...the deep ankle bruise that Stephen Morris is suffering with may stay with him the remainder of the season.

Dwayne Wade had a deep knee bruise that stayed with him throughout the playoffs, because that type of injury does not heal quickly and was easily aggravated.

Based on the pain Stephen Morris is and has been experiencing it demonstrates he is one tough hombre and that fact is not lost on his teammates, which is why they look up to him as a leader.

Calvin. No youre the imbecile

smo17 said team player his arse, this is his last ride, he's not trying to see his draft status drop because of some small ankle pain, tape me up, get my back in their, i got an account i'm bout to open up.

clowney doing the same thing up their with the ole ball coach, his agents and them are telling em, you see what just happened to easley, you already done proved yourself to be a top 3 pick, no need in risking that fact to try and win a college championship that they don't pay you for, ease up.

Calvin,

You are the best...the very, very best as you NEVER run out of stupid things to say or absurd accusations.

Rick, from Ohio. Well that just about tells us all we need to know about his insight, doesn't it?

miramarcane, if he was a regular troll, I would ignore him. But I have seen what he has done to two blogs, and is now trying to do to a third. I have seen what he has done on the day of funerals of Canes players. I have seen the disgusting threats he has made to Canes players, coaches, and fans. This is not some FSU fan coming on to say "You are gonna lose", this guy personally attacks me and other Canes fans daily. He will NOT go away if we ignore him, his next step has been to then steal a Canes fan ID and cause them to fight amongst themselves. The Sun Sentinel blog was active like this one until he was allowed to roam free. The Palm Beach Post blog was thriving until he did his damage there as well. This is the last blog left, if we allow him to destroy it, too, then we will be forced to go to private sites like Canespace, which I would rather not do.

Just the fact that he has threatened to lynch me, Randy Shannon, Jacory Harris, and others should be enough to deserve negative comment back. But when he claimed that he was working with the FBI to show a Canes player was killed in a drug deal, when his family was reading a tribute to him, shows that he has no limits, and that we can never expect him to leave us alone.

I have begged him multiple times to leave us alone, he escalates the attacks. I have left him alone, left blogs completely, and he follows me and attacks here as well. If you do not wish to see my comments to make sure nobody falls for his tricks and lies, you can skip them. But if someone new came on here, saw his comments and thought it was from a Canes fan, that would be much worse.

I had spent the day discussing other issues before he attacked me. I even politely disagreed with fellow Canes fans on here, agreed with others, and brought up topics of discussion. He just comes here to destroy, and I would rather no longer stand idly by and allow it to go untamed.

Believe me, if I thought ignoring him would work, I would do so. This guy is beyond that though, and always will be. He hides behind his keyboard to call Canes fans things that he is afraid to say to ANY of us in person, so I feel no pity for his disgusting behavior getting exposed.

Hey U re re, Morris should have sat out the USF game, He put the team at risk with the future games, IT WAS SOUTH FLORIDA, WILLIAMS SHOULD HAVE PLAYED, IT WAS THE PERFECT TIMING TO GIVE THE BACK UP QB SOME SNAPS, INSTEAD SELFISH MORRIS LIED TO AL AFTER THE USF GAME. Al CAME OUT TO THE MEDIA AND SAID GOOD NEWS, MORRIS DID NOT HURT HIS LEG ANYMORE THEN WHAT IS WAS>>>>THAT WAS A LIE, MORRIS MADE AL LOOK BAD WHEN HE CAME OUT AGAINST GT AND IT WAS SO OBVIOUS HE WAS LIMPING...AL TRUSTED MORRIS NOT NO MORE>>>>STAY ON THAT RANDY'S RECRUIT MR GOLDEN

Back to Canes:

Giants keep throwing interceptions, so they won't have to punt to Hester. Strategy so far is not working.

CLUE>>>>> Morris could have cost this team with big games coming up>>>>> THATS NOT A TEAM PLAYER (SELFISH) RANDY"S KID

Posted by: Rick | October 10, 2013 at 09:19 PM

Whatever your motives are, please stop spewing nonsense. Randy's kid? Sheesh.

At the end of the day Randy is still family and more of a Cane than any of us will EVER be, even those of us that ran around the "Rat" for four years, lay off of Randy

I got a question, when has smo17 ever played big in so called big games!

ICE

Have any of U other guys noticed just how much this Rick guy sounds like Gallober? All of a sudden Gallober is gone and this dipstick from nutville comes on here with his all caps on and little doofus >>>>>>>'s

Calvin and Gallo

You mad because SMO is going to the league? Don't be mad.

No it is very true Morris does struggle against good teams, but he watched Williams throw to the TE and I think he learned something....SEE WE DO HAVE A TE, MORRIS IS JUST DEEP BALL HAPPY, HE NEEDS TO LEARN BALL CONTROL WHEN WE NEED IT....FACT

Calvin,

So far Morris has stood up 5x's this year. Not sure why you're confused but every game is a big game.

Rick,

So Morris should ignore the open wr's downfield? You realize the objective of this game is to outscore the opponent, right?

Gallo sad list:

1. We score too fast
2. SMO is going to the NFL
3. Golden is a better coach than Muschamp
4. Randy Shannon is a position coach
5. 21-16 hurt so much
6. Probation Miami is ranked
7. Jacory is a 3rd string QB in Canada
8. We don't miss anyone on his lists

Of course I know the objective is to score, Been a Cane fan 30 + years....Ball control is a must, what happened during the Florida game after the long TD pass, They kept everything in front of them and Morris could not find anybody open....OH WAIT A MINUTE I HAVE THE GAME RECORDED, 2ND QUARTER WE HAD GUYS WIDE OPEN AND MORRIS COULDNT HIT THE BROAD SIDE OF A BARN, Then the 2nd half the coaching managed the game and did not put it in Morris hands, He threw a interception in the 2nd half it was about a 25 yard pass with the receiver dead stopping on a turn around{IT WAS 10 FEET OVER HIS HEAD...Morris needs more touch and use his TE more, Last year before every game Al Golden was saying we have to get the TE involved more (CLUE) Williams played and showed everybody that we do have a TE..This team should not lose before the ACC title game. THE U IS LOADED. IF WE HAVE BALL CONTROL AGAINST FSU (WE DESTROY THEM...IF WE DONT WINSTON WILL DESTROY OUR DEFENSE

3rd down percentage on passing before the GT game...WE WAS AROUND 100 IN THE NATION, THAT DONT WIN AGAINST GOOD TEAMS.....Thank god the Florida game we caused turnovers and the coaching staff new our D had them, and the O coordinator was very cautious 2nd half, if we come out with a ball control effort against FSU we win easy....IF WE GO DEEP BALL HAPPY AGAINST FSU, AND PUT OUR DEFENSE OUT ON THE FIELD FAST....WINSTON WILL DESTROY US.....THIS QB IS NOT LIKE THE FLORIDA QB

seriously, u dumbasse cane fans gettin a grip on ur soon to be 8-4 season ?

ridin 5-0 over 4 nobodys high huh ?

Posted by: Five Titles | October 10, 2013 at 09:08 PM

ur a complete and total di@k

Rick, Calvin and the rest of the doosh morons including old cane fan: DUMBA55ES ALL OF YOU

So the f what if Morris isplaying with a bum ankle. So the f whatif he kept it from Golden. As long as he keeps winning games who theF cares!!!

5-0

Calvin- in case you don'thave access to a television, on Sept 7, UM beat their hated rivals at home infront of 77,000. There is no other bigger game than that unless we play FSU and we are both undefeated, the ACC ch or the big ship. Hpw cananyone who has ever followed the U ever claim that the UF game is not big? Have any of you seen these blogs the last 5 yrs?

Also to claim that UF is not any good is also proof that youall dont know sheet about cfb. Not only is UF 2-0 in the SEC (or is it 3-0) but they are still ranked, which favors Miami when the CS polls come out. They will probably upset LSU this weekend mark my words

Any coach in America will take 5-0 with room to improve....ask Muschamp

Is 'Rick' Calvin's/Gallo's new personality? Note the insanity concerning Stephen Morris and the 'tight end' after a game where our 'tight-end' caught 3 passes and Stephen went his way several other times.

Calvin/Gallo/Rick have the same habit of no matter the facts presented that refute the lies--they/it just keep posting the same nonsense over and over.

I agree Zook. Calgallo is now Calgallick. Same a55hole know it all stubborn no-football knowledge punk a55.

This man knows his football, always good to see another independent thinker on patrol talking real football points. To many people get caught up in smo17's physical tools and don't realize this man continues to bottle up the offense. The funny thing is while alot of imbeciles try to use the "j70 is not in the nfl" as some kind of proof he wasn't better than smo17, when coach goldie first got here, he didn't want to start jacory, but jacory made a believer out of him and jedd and won the job hands down.

The same complaints coach goldie had than have been cut down but smo17 doesn't run an efficient offense still which is why coach goldie and james coley have been getting frustrated. I want the man to make it to the pro's, it's stupid to think most people on here think otherwise. But more importantly, forget the pro's, while he's here, i want him to win all the games he'll be in this year that he has left and worry about the pro's once he gets there.

I got a question, when has smo17 ever played big in so called big games!

multiple choice:
Either one or two things, you actually think Morris played big in the Florida game or you need hooked on Phonics.

I'll eliminate the obvious choice, Morris DID NOT PLAY BIG AGAINST THE GAYTORS.

Yes, Stevie didn't have a STELLAR Heisman-esque performance against MIGHTY Florida. But not too many QB's have had great games against the MIGHTY Gators, so far this season.

Nevertheless, Miami, through mental toughness, found a way to defeat MIGHTY Florida and that's all that matters!!

By the way, this same Gator squad has the NO. 2 OVERALL team defense in the nation. hUh

Yeah, yeah I understand that Cane loyalists DON'T give a chit bout' stats' and what not. So what.

Finally, I'm interested in how L.S.U.'s QB fairs against Florida's defensive unit. That should be a very, very interesting game.

IF WE GO DEEP BALL HAPPY AGAINST FSU, AND PUT OUR DEFENSE OUT ON THE FIELD FAST....WINSTON WILL DESTROY US.....THIS QB IS NOT LIKE THE FLORIDA QB

There's an Orange nd' Green grain of truth to what Ricardo opines on Cane football matters above.

However, I don't believe Goldie and Coley will have the offense come out SLINGING the pigskin all over the synthetic-turf. dUh

Nevertheless, this Kid from F.S.U. is a LEGITIMATE Heisman candidate and what not. And Marky Mark's D-unit will ABSOLUTELY have to play their BEST GAME of the season against the MIGHTY Seminoles!!

Yeah, yeah Miami still has Carolina Blue and Wake Forest to play yet. Well, La-Dee-Dee, La-Dee-Dah!!

Speaking of " ball control " offense and running with authority and what not.

THE DUKE absolutely showed his toughness and mental fortitude in the second-half against the Bumbling Bee's. Because the Canes desperately needed to take time of the clock and give the defense time to catch their collective breaths in the second-half. And naturally, THE DUKE had some tough runs during crucial crunch time late in the third-quarter and entire fourth-quarter.

So, I look for Goldie and Coley to work on that " ball control " offense against both Carolina Blue and Wake Forest in the next two weeks.

And yes, Stevie is still going to go VERTICAL and what not. Because that's what he does in a natural sort of fashion. dUh

There is no way Calvin is not related to Jacory Harris in some way.

Only family gets this delusional.

I got a question, when has smo17 ever played big in so called big games!
