Miami Hurricanes get verbal commitment from 4-star All-American Braxton Berrios of Raleigh, N.C.

Al Golden must be beaming on this gorgeous South Florida day.

His 2014 signing class just keeps getting better.

Braxton Berrios, a 5-9, 180-pound Under Armour All-American who plays QB (but is slated as a slot receiver in college) at Leesville Road High in Raleigh, N.C., just orally committed to the Hurricanes in a ceremony at his high school.

He chose the Canes over Tennessee, Kentucky, South Carolina and Oregon.

Berrios, who is often compared to NFLer Wes Welker, is a four-year starter on offense and defense for the pride, and is said to be a great talent with speed and amazing athleticism.

When the Hurricanes offered him in July, he tweeted: "The Miami Hurricanes just offered me! My childhood team, and even though it's not a done deal dreams do come true. #blessed #THEU

Last season, Berrios scored 33 touchdowns with 740 yards as a receiver, 1,260 as a rusher and 389 as a passer.

He has been clocked at 4.48 in the 40 and preciously ran the 20-yard shuttle in "a nation's best" 3.81, according to USA Today. His vertical leap was measured earlier this year at 40.9 inches, amazing for a guy his size.

"It's all about the U, baby!" Braxton said, according to reports, at his announcement just after noon today.

Canes receiver coach Brennan Carroll posted a Welcome to the U tweet, without naming any names, after he committed.

Off to interviews with current Canes!

Guys, If Randy Shannon was our coach Berrios would have committed one month sooner.

Just sayin!

Go Randy!

If Shannon was still our coach we would have quit against GT like we did in 2008. I'm assuming you remember the 476 in '08?

Good to see they can't pull the wool over this man's eye's. It's comical watching try and answer a post that's not even coming from the real one. Like it's said, they hate us, cause they want to be us.

Coach goldie tried to tell the media guys "the depth chart doesn't mean that much to him" and the media guy said "you're a lie", lol.

One thing that needs to be cleared up, it's been said that the "diamond formation" Georgia tech used was all of a sudden a new look, is comical, the gaytors used basically that same formation several times in week 2 of the season. Plus, it's not like Georgia tech used that formation the majority of the time.

"Repeating the point I made earlier--the Canes need to soon push their way into the top 5 or playing for a national championship, even if we win out, will not happen."

Coach, there you go mentioning pushing into the top 5 and other teams... It don't matter. It's all about N.C. Let's not get past ourselves here. It's nice to look down the road and extrapolate, but it's not a point of concern at this stage. We would undoubtably have to win the ACC first, which started last week and continues with the powder blues on Thursday night.

Execute and play like champions Thursday night. That's what []_[] should be focusing on.

haha. Hater of the week. Luv it. []_[] hating means we doing something good.
Bring it baby.

ATTENTION AL GOLDEN !!! Please read this!! I have been a lifelong CANES fan since the days of "Downtown Eddie Brown", Jim Kelly, ETC... which many may find weird because I actually was born and raised in Alabama. I was a little skeptical of U at first but numbers don't lie and U apparently know what you're doing. I admire your job in recruiting and I encourage U to build a wall around South Florida (because many programs are beginning to recruit South Florida hard) but also establish a footprint in places like Alabama where great athletes often get overlooked by other schools. There are exceptional athletes here and in the south in general so please take over South Florida but make U.M.'s presence known nationwide as well!!!! GO CANES!!!

Welcome to Mr Berrios, and all the incoming Canes. Hopefully they hold to their choice, joining the UM family.
3 teams ahead of the Canes fell today.
However, I suspect the press will find a way to elevate Northern Illinois above the Canes, so we'll probably end up #1, when by all rights should be at #10.

Man, I'd love to see us in a game with U of Georgia or TA&M.
They might have to have a scoreboard with triple digits.
For UM, as neither of those teams can stop anyone.

Still, we have a bunch of games to win before that would happen. Truthfully, I'd be thrilled to be in the ACC Championship game, hopefully against Clemson.

Big dreams DO come true.

Like I said keep the train on the track and this team should be 12 - 0 playing for the ACC title.....Only team that can give this team a scare from our regular season Schedule is THEMSELVES

Golden is loading up, and a DYNASTY is being built right in front of our eyes.

Some on this blog would believe randy Shannon could beat Lebron James 1 on 1.

I see an great deal of optimism regarding the U but I have always believed first truly dominant team is still a year or two from now. Let's keep some perspective here.

Writer...we can beat t a& m...they havent seen a real D yet!

GT and Florida are incomplete teams. I won't be surprised if both head coaches are out on the street at the end of the season.

What is this Randy Shannon crap?

The Hokies upped the bet again on Saturday when they added a victory over Pitt to go along with their win over the TarHeels. Our Canes have to hold serve and beat the Heels in Chapel Hill. The TarHeels don't want to be a 1-5 team and that makes them dangerous. I don't how our Canes do it, but I won't relax unless we're up by 35 at the half. We need a statement game right now. Go CANES.

white Miami? Thats an oxymoron. Almost like saying coach shannon.

If Randy Shannon was coach Berrios would become a bust like 95% of his former recruits

Calvinand D- Where Jacorry at?

If Shannon was still the coach it would be the death penalty from the NCAA. The death of Miami football Calvin. That was certain.

If the Canes and Noles stay undefeated until their showdown, College Game Day will be in Tallahassee...Go Canes baby

Zook you're delusional... you want to talk up BYU now? The same BYU team that lost to Virginia, who lost to Ball State, who in turn lost North Texas. Looking up stats doesn't mean you know college football. Watch the games and trust your eyes. Like I said, GT only had 144 yards rushing with 10 mins left in the game. If you actually saw the game, BYU rotated the back up's in on defense the end of the game where GT finally moved the ball. Heck the fullback had a 55 yard run on a fullback dive up the middle. 100 yards of garbage time stats and a TD with less than 2 mins left against BYU's back up's doesn't impress me. I have watched 3 out of GT's 6 games this year so I think I'll trust what I saw over you drawing conclusions based on looking at Game Stats on the internet after the game is over.

That lost by Georgia tech is no surprise, they let themselves get set-up, you don't go all the way out their running the option, all that'll do is tire your own team out, them boys got out there and the elevation tore them up. When you go to places like that, you need to have a heavy rotation and score early. Defensively, guys won't understand why they can't keep up but the elevation there will get you, that's part of why we lost to them back in 88.

As far as this new recruit goes, that's going to be an interesting one for sure, i don't recall ever having an effective white guy playing a skill position here, but he'll definitely come in here with something to prove for sure and one things for sure, he definitely has some confidence committing here actually thinking he's going to get real playing time, so that says something about where his head is at. I'm sure he'll make catches in practice though since we run primarily a zone scheme instead in the old days where when guys came in, until they were able to beat True pure press man coverage, they would continue to be on the ghost roster.

First off if shannon was still the headcoach he wouldn't have recruited berrios to play wideout here or any other skill position, that's just unheard of in Miami.

That's why he is coaching LB's at Arkansas and not a HC for the Canes or any other team, doofus.

FYI: Trust me, if RS was here, I guarante Alex Collins would be here.

FYI: The pick up from NC is good, but if U want to get back to greatness, the way to go is to recruit from the state of Fla. If there are 100 players on the team, then 80 have to come from Fla.

FYI: There are guys right now in The Muck, some real good players, who are out there chasing wabbits...And catching them!!!

FYI: "Goldy: Go and get those defensive players chasing those wabbits. That's how JJ did it.

FYI: Recruiting-wise, this is what RS was doing. Geting all those Tier I, II and II players from in-state. And he knew he didn't have a huge budget.

First Caucasian skill ( non QB/TE ) player at the U in 40 years.

Sure Calvin...sure...you always seem to outdo yourself in the stupidity game. Shannon probably would not have even recruited a white dude receiver to The U....haha...get real.

We all love Shannon....not a head coach though. You need to accept were a lot better off at this time.

18-11 - Under AG....top 5 class coming....South Florida kids lining up....we will be one of the 4 teams in next years playoff bracket.

FYI- U don't know shyt and you can take those wabbit chasing nimrods and watch us win with the quality HC that we have now while Shannon coaches LB's at Arkansas.

So calvina, are U saying that Shannon would not have recruited this young man strictly because of his skin color? Sounds like U are a wee bit on the racist side there ole buddy.

It actually is very hard to be a fake Calvin. That level of illiteracy is very hard to emulate. I mean how can you possible match such writing as

"It's comical watching try and answer a post"

What a moron.

Calvin's latest nonsense on Provo elevation is, of course, a joke. 4500' for anyone in reasonable condition has virtually zero impact on physical performance. Maybe for a slug like Calvina it is a problem, just as it is for her to bend over.

Welcome to the []_[] young man!! Work hard and good things will come. This is Miami, where winners take their talents....

I like having haters on here because if everyone here was gung ho Canes it would be no fun.

Thanks Calvin for shaking things up and I have a name for you: Jeremy Shokey, white dude had skills and you probably didn't have a TV when Larry Brodsky caught Jim kelly's bombs.
Golden is putting together a great class to add to a loaded young roster. Things are shaping up real nice.

-------------------------------------------------------

After the first quarter, the D adjusted to GT's running game. From the second quarter to the last "garbage time" drive GT had 124 yards on 40 carries.

I'm not saying GT is a great team, I'm just saying we handled them pretty well. Especially when you consider the 4 turnovers on the offensive side.

Miami 63 - NC 17.....30 + yrs Cane fan. I STAND FOR THE UUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU FROM OHIO
