ACC Player of the Week?

Not Jameis Winston.

It was Duke Johnson.

Here's hoping he is a repeat winner next week.

What a moron d'o is speaking in generalities like well, we have to tackle them, no freelancing, and then, the moron says:
"we have to stop them in the red zone!!!!!!!!!"

No moron d'o, you have to stop the other team before they get to the 50, three and out.

Then, moron d'o says, "well, the other team converts on third down." Well, no sh*t sherlock.

And WHY????? Because you, dumbo put in your 3 man def. lineman rush, no blitz, and zone NO coverage defense. The other QB has all day to wait for a receiver to get into a wide open gap.

With d'o not knowing his butt from first base and continuing to use his 3 down lineman NO run, NO pass defense, the score will be:

FSU 42 (or 52 or even 62) and
Miami 10

The guy d'o does NOT know defense.

I mean do you hear this guy No D. Do he ever make a bad defensive call? It's always freelancing this and that. I'm tired if hearing the same excuse. Why is it always on the kids?

d'o is a sociopath snake oil and used car salesman.

And he blames everybody but himself for the vast number of yards run over and passed over the Canes and for forcing Morris and the offense to go in and win the last two games in the last minutes of the games instead of realizing that DEFENSE is supposed to win games, and championships.

But that latter point is way beyond that yeahoo.

7-0

21-16

Ranked 7th.

Top 25 on offense and defense.

One of only 8 undefeated teams in the NCAA.

Three games better than they were as of Game 7 last year.

Beat in-state rivals USF and UF.

Beat division rivals UNC and GT.

It burns, don't it?

All we are going to get on Saturday is FSU running over and passing over the Canes' (d'o's) 3 down def. linemen, let the other team convert on third down against d'o's zone no pass coverage, No pressure on winston, let them drive all day down to the Cane red zone every drive.

d'os moron NO defensive set:

3 down linemen worn out by the end of the first quarter, can not stop the end run because they are trapped inside and blocked. Can not stop the run against 5 blockers and the running back.

Cane LBs five yards off the los giving up five yards on every run play.

8 DBs guarding empty pastureland, winston hits wide open receivers,

No blitzes.

d'o is going to help fsu slaughter the Canes just like he was NO help against 1-4 UNC and 4-3 WF who had won against easy opponents and d'o let UNC go 75 yards in 16 seconds to win the game but for the UNC receiver dropping the ball that was right in his hands.

He speaks like a guy who knows he's on the hot seat. He probably knows that he is underperforming as a DC.

The defense is too reactionary. U got to line up on D and already know what you're going to do, irrespective of what the O does. No matter what team it is.

Part of the problem is that this guy lays back, observes the O and makes a plan and goes from there.

He just DunnoToday, DunnoTomorrow, DunnoAgainstFSU. 'Goldy has to know that the DC is not performing well.

This is a pass oriented D. But still too many yards are given up through the air. I'm not in agreement with this team going 3-4 under any circumstances. If that happens against FSU, it could mean lights out.

What does he mean by "freelancing?" Does he mean that people are out of position and trying to do everything on their own and not trust in teammates? Or is that players are on to him and pretty much tuned him out?

Where did he blame the players or anybody else moron? All he did was state the obvious which is we have to tackle better and not put ourselves in bad positions. What did U morons do go to the Randy Shannon world of make believe.

True Cane and Cane 27 are right!! What in the world does a guy who has been coaching for over 20 years know over serial bloggers True Cane, Cane 27, Calvin, Gallo, etc.

If only we could convince Donna Shalala to hire True Cane, Cane 27, Calvin, Gallo, etc.

Just imagine how much better our current 7 & 0, undefeated season would be going if those genius bloggers were leading the Canes

Right now we would be 14 & 0, having beaten every opponent by 50 points, crowned National Champions of not only college football, but the NFL as well.

Every recruit in the country would be begging to play at the "U" even without a scholarship.

I am asking each and everyone of you to immediately pen a note to Donna Shalala imploring her to immediately fire Al Golden and his staff and replace them with what can only be called the..."A" TEAM!!

If U are going to blitz, then blitz. If you're going to show stunt, blitz disguise, then do that.

If one LB, is going to stay close to the line, then do that. But be proactive in the approach. Too often the opposing team's offense is dictating what kind of D UM is in.

I'm thinking back to JJ: He never had that problem. And JJ never cared about "freelancing" as long as U did something.

And JJ never cared about "freelancing" as long as U did something.

#############

JJ had the " athletes on defense " to get away with freelancing and what not. The Hurricanes aren't quite there yet, but will get those defensive prime time players very soon! Just U wait and see, bUbba.

In other words, how many of Miami, Florida's current D-starters would play significant minutes for the injun, redskin Seminoles on Saturday. Maybe 3 at best. hUh

The Hurricanes have to cut off the " head " of F.S.U. Do that and the Canes will make this a very, very interesting game going into the fourth quarter.

In other words, limit the " head of the snake's " ability to make big plays and force the RED-SHIRT-freshmen signal caller into mistakes and Goldie's squad will have a boxer's chance for a T.K.O.

Yes, yes it's easier said than done. But so what!

UF GAVE the game to UM with 5 turnovers.

Trolls on here are bragging about wins over savannah state, FAU, USF, UNC, Miami high school, SW Key West college, d'o gave the game to UNC, a 1-4 team that dropped the ball in the Cane endzone. But the Cane morons are happy UM is 7-0 against nobody teams.

And what will we hear after the FSU game?? Defensive players were out of position, freelancing, we have to tackle better, it was a long trip, Morris was injured, Duke had a headache, d'o had PMS.

These ain't your daddy's Cane coaches.

One absolute is for certain this Saturday night. Either F.S.U. or Miami, Florida's respective NINE game winning streaks will come to a sudden end. hUh

If you want less freelancing play more man.

By the way, the Hurricanes were a mind-boggling - 21 1/2 point home underdog to MIGHTY F.S.U. last season. And if memory serve's moi correctly, Goldie's squad was within reach going into the 4th quarter. dUh

I have finally come to my senses and agree with True Cane, Cane 27, Calvin, Gallo, etc...Golden should absolutely be fired if he doesn't beat FSU. But wait, he should also be fired if he doesn't beat FSU by AT LEAST 4 touchdowns.

Also, I say they fire the Kansas City Chief's head football coach, Andy Reid, if he does not beat next weeks opponent, the Buffalo Bills. Never mind that like Coach Golden, Reid inherited a program in the toilet (although, Reid didn't face a 3 year NCAA investigation) and is currently undefeated like Golden's Canes you fire the guy on the spot if the Chiefs lose.

I am outraged that Boise State didn't fire Chris Petersen after he lost to BYU on Saturday!!! Can you imagine this guy who took a program from nothing and has had his team in the national title hunt thinking he's gonna get a pass from me and True Cane, Cane 27, Calvin, Gallo, etc., he better think again! FIRE PETERSEN!!!

Furthermore, taking True Cane, Cane 27, Calvin, Gallo, etc's., lead...I believe that any time a football coach loses a game; pee-wee league, high school, college and pro that they should be fired as soon as the game ends.

Finally, I also say that any high school kid that the fans on various blogs believe should sign with their school and does not should be grounds for firing the head coach of the school the kid did not sign with.

Calvin said it best. The MIGHTY Seminoles have the overall stronger coaching staff. Yet, sometimes the Bear Bryant's and Tom Osborn's and Switzer's and JJ's and Saban's lose a game or two or three. hUh

Cool Cat,

Forgive me for omitting your name in the vaunted list of football experts on this blog as everyone is aware...you know more about football than anyone who has coached the game at the college or pro level.

It is common knowledge that during Don Shula's undefeated season you were the architect of that team and Shula did not make a move before consulting with you.

I have my fingers crossed that should Donna Shalala take our blog advice and fire coach Golden and his staff that you would be willing to accept a job with the sterling staff of...True Cane, Cane 27, Calvin, Gallo, etc.

Tell Rocky he didn't have a bum's chance to go the distance with Apollo.

And give a shout to Broadway Joey and tell him that the Jet's didn't have no business playing MIGHTY Baltimore in your Orange Bowl. dUh

Oh, give Rollie M. a call and ask him if his Villanova squad had any chance of defeating Ewing and the Hoya's.

Upset's happen bUbba's. That's why they call it UPSET's! hUh

Seriously though, if Goldie's squad can HANG TOUGH and make it a ball game going into the 4th quarter and NOT get EMBARRASSED on national telly. I'll be quite content and what not. Yeah, yeah it's all about winning and what not. So what. Because there's always a loser and a winner and only a natural born loser would know that. Get the freak outta' here with that mumble, bumble crap, Weirdo!!

Calvin,

Let me ask you this. Are we going to hear that guys are freelancing after every game? Do you recall since you began following the Canes ever hearing this as much? It amazing to me that these idiots don't see what's happening.

in his presser today coach No D

D'Onofrio said a key in the game will be for his defenders to stop freelancing and to tackle better.

Ok, I'm with him tackling has to be better but this freelancing thing GTFOH. Coach no D I know how to solve the freelancing. Play man to man. Our guy cover their guy I gurantee you there won't be any freelancing. Apparently the players don't believe in this crap you are running if you have to same the same thing game in and game out.

Dawg, i've been saying the same thing about that freelancing crap, the stupid part is, that's what a zone defense is, a bunch of guys sitting in zones waiting/freelancing. They can use the term freelancing after every game, freelancing is the nature/basis of a zone, hoping the qb makes a bad read. What i like, and i've been waiting for this part of the season, all these cupcake games are over, so no more hiding and sticking his chest out like he's actually been doing something.

I have to admit that Coach D has had me scratching my head (and yelling cuss words out loud, too) a few times this year. I mean, how many times was he going to let UNC have the crossing route underneath? Why don't the DBs jam at the line or do SOMETHING to make it harder for the other guys to have success with the same plays, over and over?

I like to think he's been at this for a while and surely knows a heck of a lot more about it than I do, but the bottom line is that if the U plays a soft zone and all-around reactive, instead of proactive, D against FSU, the 'Noles will feast.

But in the end . . . what the hay? It is what it is, and it will be what it will be. If the 'Canes pull of the upset, I'll dance naked down Biscayne Boulevard at high noon, laughing my fool head off the whole time.

Big upsets have happened. We'll all see come next Saturday night. The 'Noles will surely come gunning; they need lopsided wins against ranked opponents to leapfrog Oregon and get to the title game, and I think Miami is their last chance, so the 'Canes had better be ready for a fight. Fisher will pull out all the stops.

But don't forget; if the 'Canes beat VA Tech the following week, they'll rematch against the 'Noles in the ACC title game.

Cane 72,

Don't be ticked off as I only used one of your aliases, Cane 27, not Cane 72 and the others in my plea that Donna Shalala Fire Al Golden and his staff and replace them with you and the other All Stars.

Bill Belichick constantly logs in on this blog hoping to glean coaching knowledge and tips from you, True Cane, Cool Cat, Calvin, Gallo, etc.

As I said before, if only you and the others were currently coaching the Canes, just think how much better our 7 & 0, undefeated season would be at this point.

Donna Shalala, I beg of you, put our blog geniuses at the controls of the UM football team...NOW!! They've never been wrong and never lost a game at the college or pro level.

This game will be won up front. The FSU OL will give the kid QB a lot of time. Green and Chick and Perryman will have good games, but they can't be everywhere. Somebody else up front has to step up if U has a chance.

Has anybody seen Jimmy Gaines?

Oh, what ever happened to Kelvin Cain?

Calvin: U mentioned the other day that Artie Burns at 6-1 and 190 might be too big for DB: Do U really play Burns at LB? SS maybe? He's quick, but he seems better suited for another position. U agree?

Dno is a Morron!! We have been LUCKY on D.. Wakes QB looked like a Heisman candidate. Their WR was like Jerry Rice , same old 10 yard cushion so the short routs where open.... LBs where where you!! FSU is going to KILL us and the 21 point spread is a gift!!! take the points and bet BIG!!! at least win $ with this L

No football questions for Coley?
Who are these reporters?
Also, Morris could do some damage, if Coley drops him back
about three to five feet on their shot-gun snaps.
Watch Winston. He gets the snap further back and steps into his throws, while Morris is always moving backwards and throwing off his back foot.
Give him some extra room to step into his throws.

Welcome to the club, but when you asking about how come our db's don't jam, it's because coach goldie and his minions don't teach that True pres-man defense, what the techniques they teach are rooted in their soft non-aggressive approach to defense which is, they like to teach the 1 hand jam that is almost impossible to do in a live game, why, because you have no idea where the receiver is going, where as when you're positioned to give a 2 hand jam, you're more squared up on the receiver and than you can go from a 2 hand jam technique to the 1 hand jam that coach goldie an his minions try and teach our db's to start off with, which is why you don't see none of our db's actually jamming anyone, it's more of stay in front of the receiver and don't get beat deep techniques as opposed to actually trying to re-route guys and throw the timing off.

A zone concept defense does not rely on the secondary throwing the timing off of the receivers, it's suppose to rely on the front 7 bringing unexpected pressure and force the qb to throw the ball earlier than expected while the guys on the back end sit in there zones and hope to get a pick.

While we do have a lot of picks this year and that's good, we're not going to be effective trying to convert to a 3-4 defense and put more power guys on the field when the majority of the teams are running these spread offenses that spread you out and try to have linebackers covering wide-outs in space. Teams know, you don't want to have a guy like dzp being able to be able to line-up inside all game long, cause he'll kill you. Like that hit he had on that guy saturday, that's why i said i want to see logan thomas try what he did against spence a few years ago, although spence held up against dzp, he's have to sit out a few plays for sure.

That's it was funny last year watching ej manuel see dzp was coming and he quickly ran out of bounds. One things for sure, we are definitely hurting from not having ej44 & gionni paul on the team, this defense might actually have been that much better, we do know gionni paul was always around the ball and ej44 feared no one. That's why it was stupid hearing that they were kicked off the team for simple stuff. So now w e have a rotating door with armbrister, corneilius and the chosen one, alex "where have you been" figs. He migth as well had redshirted this year, couldn't unseat armbrister.

Oh, what ever happened to Kelvin Cain?

Calvin: U mentioned the other day that Artie Burns at 6-1 and 190 might be too big for DB: Do U really play Burns at LB? SS maybe? He's quick, but he seems better suited for another position. U agree?

He's fast for sure, but at his size, will his change of direction affect as he continues to grow, which is why i think he'd probably be a safety at some point because for one, i'm not sure carter has enuff speed or football awareness to be effective in that secondary at this point, artie burns is ready. You can almost tell who's going to be able to ball often times from special teams alone. The guys who normally stand-out on special teams normally end up being real productive players, and right now, i haven't really seen carter make a good play on special teams yet.

Probably should've been a good redshirt candidate, but mentally he's all UM for sure. Also, seeing porter get passed up by renfrow is not a good look, all this tells me is, the guys jethro and crew have been coaching for the last 3 years are getting passed up by guys that just came in from other programs that they didn't coach but a few weeks, something is wrong with that. Whatever happened to corey king, grimble, non-productive. This waltz d-line technique is the reason d-line recruits didn't come in these last 2 years, we'll see what happens this year with the in-state D-linemen.

If coach D'No sticks to that bend but don't break mentality against Winston, he will break us for sure. I thought he was done with that junk because we weren't playing like that against Florida and in other games earlier this season. Go back and watch the tape and notice the depth of the linebackers. They were much closer to the line of scrimmage in games earlier this season.

I cant for the life of me understand why he thinks putting linebackers 6-8 yards away from the line of scrimmage is an effective strategy. Nobody else does this and for good reason, you are out of position at the snap. I realize he's a young coach and doesn't have much experience on his resume, but he needs to stop being arrogant and ask for some assistance.

I'm pretty sure he can get with Kevin Coyle, the Dolphins D-coordinator, and talk some X's and O's. Coyle seems to use a lot of different blitz schemes that could definitely help the canes bring pressure.

This guy is a cry baby, so what if you don't get the right tape, adjust in game. It's like asking the teacher for the answers before you take the test. I could careless what another team did the week before, that's what's wrong with sports in this country, to busy relying on game tape and scouting reports, that's why the baseball team gets whipped when it comes to international play. Almost sounds like the complaints oach 500 had when he first got here for 2 years complaining about teams running different plays than what they saw on tape, SO WHAT!

The Arkansas coach's latest issue with the Tigers' coaching staff came as a result of game video Auburn shared with the Razorbacks, footage Bielema said painted a less-than-complete picture of the Tigers' plays.

SAME BLOGS, SAME STUPID BLOGGERS EACH WEEK. WHO KNOW SO LITTLE. THIS PROGRAM WAS IN THE TOILET SWIRLING ROUND AND ROUND, NOW 7-0, AND RANKED, BUT THATS NOT GOOD ENOUGH. GIVE IT A CHANCE PEOPLE. ESPN WAS RIGHT, S. FL. HAS THE WORST FANS.

All of the sudden all the Noles are out...Hahahahaha. This is why I love college Football. Do not be surprised if we knock their d..ks in th e dirt again!!!! Jimbo hope you enjoyed recruiting down here cause its over.

They will all come, they will all win and they will all play on Sunday's

CANEZZZZZZZZZZZZ

Hey National Titles: I find your comment about Andy Reid interesting. Fact is, Lovie Smith should've gotten that job. Smith's 10-6 record last year was better then Reid's.

And who has KC really played this year? Nobody. Reid is a players coach, but we'll see how things pan out in KC. Give Alex smith some more time to self-destruct.

Hey the other "WestCoastCane"....

Whlie i agree with what you said...find your own name.

All you guys talking about D'Onofrio's scheme are missing the fact that players are not executing it well.

DP's job was to contain a runner and he got juked out of his shorts because he didn't keep contain. Those passing plays where we get beat are because guys are staring at the QB and gettin worked by the look-off. The tackling. Guys need to tackle. We were in a position to stop them on quite a few third downs when we had slippage.

1. You can't freelance. Stay in your gap.

2. You must tackle.

3. Don't get caught staring in the backfield on the wheel.

It's about discipline, and that's what separated []_[]s from Alabama. The fundamentals like tackling and staying in gaps that allow you to impose your will on other teams and prevents them from imposing their will on you.

Stop blaming the coach, we had our chances.

d'o three down linemen can not stop a run for five yards by five offensive linemen blockers and a running back - for those of you who can not count, that is 6 offensive players against d'o 3 (three) (tres) linemen.

d'o three down linemen can not stop the end run for ten yards because they get blocked inside.

d'o LBs five yards off the los give up five yards before they even touch the ball carrier.

d'o three down linemen can not get through 5 offensive linemen and a blocking back in any kind of an effective pass rush. Again, for morons, that is 3 can players trying to fight through 6 blockers. Ain't happening.

d'o zone pass DBs guarding empty space. FSU receiver goes into a gap in the secondary, and LO! FSU pass completion and first down. Do it several times and LO! FSU is in the red zone and scores again.

Hostile crowd. oooooo ooo ooooo. 7 point home field advantage. Make it a 28 point spread.

d'o helping fsu all night with his "I KNOW NOTHING, COLONEL HOGAN" about defense!!!
And the score at the end of the game is:

FSU 42
Miami 10

But wait, Miami beat some local high schools and got a few gifts and we're 7-0 and going to play in the BCS NC game, doncha know???

HERE'S THE FACTS:

UM has played one TOP 10 team---> UF

FSU has played on TOP 10 team---> CLEMSON

UM has had key injuries...namely MORRIS. DUKE AND DORSETT left the UNC game and the team responded and won anyways.

FSU has had NO major injuries...all starters on the field for every game.

FACT:

FSU has NOT faced a top 20 DEFENSE...

UM has faced several top 20 defenses so far...

FACT:

UM has not revealed their full offensive game plan.

GOLDEN is adamantly against running up the score for the sake of rankings. DON'T FORGET he pulled starters by the HALF in our first 4 games except for UF.... Our winning margins would be much higher if it wasn't for that fact.... AND OUR RANKING would have been higher at this point if GOLDEN wanted to run up the score on cupcakes...

FSU hasn't hesitated to run up the score on their cupcakes because JIMBO IS DESPARATE for a his own championship to prove why FSU should have pushed BOWDEN OUT for him....

IF FSU WIFFS ON THE NC this year, there will be some major unhappiness in Tallahassee. AFTER 5+ YEARS OF TOP 5 RECRUITING, WHERE IS FSU's CHAMPOINSHIPS??

TALK ABOUT FAILURE...

AND WITH GOLDEN ENTERING A CRASHING PROGRAM, COMPLETELY UNCONDITIONED PLAYERS LEFT BY RANDY, NCAA INQUISITION.... MIAMI IS RISING DESPITE OF IT ALL....

ALL THE SIGNS GOLDEN and staff are among the most capable coaching staff in all of NCAA Football.....

And that opinion is based on FACTS. Not BS lists and fake memories from Gallo and Calvin

You can't make this stuff up...Andy Reid takes the worst team in all of the NFL last year and now has them undefeated and Cool Cat says the Chiefs hired the wrong coach and should have hired Lovie Smith.

That post highlights a level of stupidity not often seen on the planet earth. And helps explain the constant screwball
comments by all of the usual suspects...they truly believe the trash they are shoveling...simply unbelievable!!

If half the people on here understood what NEXT MAN UP says it would be much more fun.

-cane72, 27........goal line!

So let me get this straight...

We can't tackle but you want to play man defense with LBs 3yrds of the line of scrimmage? We can't keep contain or generate a consistent pass rush and you want to play press man? We can't master this basic defense and you want to play the most high-stakes defense there is?

Do you think about these things before you profess to know more than guys getting paid millions to coach?? You don't think they know how to run a press man scheme?

Ed Reed and Ray Lewis aren't walking through that door. ST, Vilma, D.J. and Spence aren't running through that smoke. You know, the absolute ballers that are fundamentally so sound that you don't even realize it's their fundamentals that allow them to freelance.

They must master the crawl before they run. You muss think before you type, bredrin.

Lol NMU! Its 101 but he has no clue.

Man this was an easy read....

Gator trolls are out in full force...lol!fact is, we will play fsu and we can win! Look for jameis concussion and an upset...

all 3 sound like they have no idea what to do against fsu......like I have said...sooner or later the truth will come out.....golden/dnofrio are not UM material and at this point neither is coley.....

these are basic mac guys......mediocre that talk a good game and have glossy materials for the presentation but when you turn it sideways its is as thin as a playing card.....

I don't think 4 days will be enough time to fix this mess......UM gets crushed

dnofrio talking......I cant help but say to myself. all this work and team is not in sync against lowly wake forest....

what ever happened to "lets just kick their a....s and get the f...ck out of here"

you think UM was playing alabama.....its a complete joke goden/dnofrio....sad

I too am concerned that we are not playing more aggressive Defense. Watching opposing QBs look stellar against our "bend but don't break" style of D is frustrating. By now the coaches know that we have a higher level of talent at The U than those MAC schools so is there a lack of trust in our athletes that explains why we are running zone instead of man coverage?

You run zone to hide weaknesses. Last year we were weak against the run. But it seems like we corrected that in games against UF and GT. We have a more experienced secondary this year so what are we still hiding by playing zone?

I'm wanting to defer to the experts coaching the team but it would be good if the beat reporters would ask some of these questions and give us more insight. But with that said this team still finds a way to win. You can say that UNC shot themselves in the foot a few times which gave us a chance. And one can argue that UF made too many turnovers. But our D forced some of those TO's and we did make adjustments in the second half against those teams. And we pulled out wins by running the ball.

So it can be done and something about being a 3 TD dog when you're a top 10 team is motivation enough to come out and lay the wood to FSU. Let's hope coach D is just as amped.
