Believe it or not y'all Hurricane loyalists. There's a distinct possiblity that MIGHTY Duke does the UNTHINKABLE. Especially if Golden and D'oNofrio can't keep the players from abandoning the U.S.S. Hurricane.

UGoCane did you miss the game? It was UVA last game in the OB x Fing 15...again. This is LSU Peach Bowl..again. This is stomping the Louisville logo...again.

Fire Obama too !!

Pathetic/soft team ...... Unreal

Gallo, I would agree with you to a degree, but stats can also be deceiving. Talent on a team can skew things. Golden may have had a 47-47 record after 8 years which clearly shows a tendency, but did he have the talent on those teams to be better? Not that many top notch athletes go to non-power house football schools.

Gallo, UM won't spend 4+ million on an HC. If UM loses any of the next 3 games, especially if the defense is the culprit, Al MUST do the right thing. Both OC and DC have to go, along with the LB's coach. A shame there.

Y'all Golden and D'Onofrio APOLOGISTS owe CALVIN and JSY and HARRIETTUBMANCANE and like-minded loyal Miami fan-dom an absolute APOLOGY!!

LOL
Calvin,

Here comes the excuse brigade

"obviously we didn't execute, obviously we need to get better, obviously we're not back yet, it's a process, that's on me but we'll get it fixed. "

Sure Al.

I just want one reporter ask him "why is it every game the other team comes out attacking on defense and we sit back and allow opposing qb's to get in rhythm? Is that by design?"

27, lol, we just muddled up the heisman race race, logan thomas has got to be in the conversation after tonights game, he got back to his old ways/fundamentals from 2011.

along with the LB's coach. A shame there.

It's not the Cane LB's coach fault. He's just following the defensive schemes and ploys of MR. 500 club and what not.

Pitt ND tied. Hope Pitt wins, otherwise, the media will lift ND to 13, 1 notch below their qualifying ranking for a BCS game.
If UM stays in the top 25 I'll be surprised.
What a crappy weekend.

Fins will show up Monday night and kick the crap out of Tampa Bay, though everyone in the USA will be pulling for TB.

Both road games against Duke and Pittsburgh will be very difficult for the team. Best case scenario is Miami gets a split.

Like Golden, but really need to get rid of DC. At what point are we supposed to believe he can make this d better. Looks exactly like last year.

On offense, just not sure right now. Morris is pitiful or OC isn't working out. I'm going with Morris being pitiful as that one NFL scout stated in the Herald this past week.

Time to just get to 2014 and see if we can actually learn to cover, tackle, catch, and throw

Well, look at the bright side of the disappointing, SHOCKING lost to Beamer Ball.

At least the Canes won't be EMBARRASSED on national telly against F.S.U, again.

Both Golden and D'Onofrio have to do some SERIOUS SOUL SEARCHING after the season ends.

Because their style of defense isn't the answer for prep players whom are use to attacking and playing man-a-man the majority of the time.

Tennesseecane you are correct.

The defense did no adjustment and there was no rush to do adjustments taking in consideration the conditions.

One of the commentators stated that carrying the ball in the wet is very different to good conditions. You have to adjust the area to a higher position in order to prevent fumbling.

Your point on Morris is also well made.

IMAWriter points well made.
Go 'Canes

Been a diehard Cane fan for 30yrs. The Miami Hurricanes football team is by far my favorite team in any sports. But I am GLAD that we were exposed tonight. We will NEVER win anything big with this defensive scheme and coordinator. Everybody else here tonight has pretty much summed up my feelings. 25/31 for Thomas? I guess so when EVERYBODY is wide open. Weak schedule and our offense have "masked" the obvious defensive shortcomings so far, but after tonight there is no trying to defend it. The talent on that side of the ball is not Top-20, but is clearly enough to prevent 42 points tonight to a mediocre VT offense. Again, another team looks all-world against us. This has been the theme week after week with this coordinator. It's on Golden to see this and let him go. If he doesn't since they're boys, then Golden needs to go too. Sorry, Golden. Feel bad for ya, with all the crap you've had to deal with, but this is the state of the union right now. It's on you!

I've seen enough, these guys suck. Take your process back to the showers at penn state.

ROFL, welp, i hate to see UM lose anything, but this lost is definitely waking the fans base back up. All those nerds in the stands that keep wearing ties and locking arms, all that crap is pathetic. The only hope coach goldie has is to get rid of his boy the 500 club, bring in a real UM d-co, we're going to need a nutritionist for weight loss come next year. bring in some real Miami coaches besides kehoe and barrow, if don soldinger wants to comeback in bring him back in.

This style of football is not going nowhere, our guys played hard and did everything this coaching staff has asked them to do, the schemes are not winning schemes. It's senior night so we finally give maurice haggens a hand-off. If we can't win these type of games this year, when the team gets younger come next year what's going to be the excuse, we're building alright.

LOL, WEstern Carolina gave up 45 to VT and2nd most was given by this joke of a D. Like Manny said, cones would be better on defense

along with the LB's coach. A shame there.

Just call coach barrow officer hoyt, he didn't sign-up to coach 240lb linebackers, you can best believe that wasn't his idea. The problem i got with coach goldie is, if he did have to fire his boy, he won't be the only one that he fires just to try and make it seem like it was just him. But coach barrow has coached here when we played real solid defense under shannon so we know it's not him, he's just stuck over there with the mac minions.

Good job jethro franklin, the d-line did an excellent job waltzing with V-tech's o-linemen.

goldens access to talent was no less than any other MAC HC....trust me the data wont chance.....

notice how all the players look to the sidelines for SOMETHING.....the coaches come up with nothing....that's because they are all over their heads....

golden is responsible for the defense as well....golden is not a 12-0 or 1-1 coach.....besides he cant beat fsu so whats the point, hang around until winston graduates?

Just remember, "own the process"!

Hiring golden was the biggest self imposed sanctions that's why NCAA was so lenient

D, stop giving Calvin a virtual hand job on every page of this thread. It's pathetic like guys whining about other internet bloggers calling them names.

I watched and listened to Al Golden as part of ESPN's "Car Wash'' today, and I was impressed by his answer to Samantha (Steele) Ponder, when she asked him...

"Defensively I know you wanted to make some changes this last year. What are the things you think need to change in order to get the defense where it needs to be?"

Golden's response:

"I think the biggest thing was to not change, was just to take all the young kids, the 14 or 15 freshmen we played over there and just to quiet their minds down, settle them down a little bit. I felt different about the defense in the spring – there was a calmness, they were communicating more. And then of course getting [defensive tackle] Curtis Porter back and then giving everybody another year in the weight room.

"[Linebacker] Denzel Perryman grew up on the stage for us, played at 208 and then 212. He’s 243 now. [Linebacker] Jimmy Gaines is 240. [Linebacker] Alex Figueroa is 238. [Defensive end] Anthony Chickillo is another guy who played for us at 45 and 50. He is now 275. So those kids had to grow up and were forced to play before they were ready. Now, they’re settled in, they know the system and we’re excited about who we have coming back on defense."

Calvin,

Why are they surprised now? It's been the same thing for two and a half years He told you nothing was going to change. These are his words. FACTS

Brace yourselves boys, "duke is a tough place to play" coach cutliffe and crew no the time is ripe and it would be a program changing victory to beat us, lol.

So, the honeymoon's over already?

After only two and 3/4ths years?

What took so long all of you that kept your head in the ground starting with Maryland up until tonight?

Better grab your t-shirt with a tie printed on them now, they'll be on sale and looks like they'll be something of a collectors item in a few months.

For people who collect things ironically I mean, of course.

I'm ready for a change in this regime of mediocrity

Who's enjoying this post game press conference tonight? It's the only thing Alverage excels at so better lap it up while it's still being served hot and steaming for you.

Calvin do you dispute my facts

Assuming Al goes and gets a new DC who would UM go get? Who can they afford that can stop the bleeding?
If he doesn't get a new DC then he'll be a "dead man walking" with recruits. Rival coaches will get more play from this then they did from the NCAA unless he does something dramatic.

FSU beat us twice. We lost because a total lack of heart. How else do you allow 100+ yards rushing to a team? Any QB will look great if the team can rush. This is a total team melt down today.

Our OL is not performing either. And we thought they are the best. May be this is where we belong. We are not much better than WF.

Duke might get their first win against us (RS used to call Duke a tough place to play!). We will be lucky to finish the season with a 9-3 record.

Pete Kwiatkowski.

We can start naming some more here if you'd like who are potential acceptable replacements.

Except Al will tell them to run a 3-4 because he calls the shots and doesn't know anything he didn't pick up from Pedo-terno protector.

But we can still do this if you're seriously asking.

I watched and listened to Al Golden as part of ESPN's "Car Wash'' today, and I was impressed by his answer to Samantha (Steele) Ponder, when she asked him...

I guess coach goldie never heard of "pleading the 5th" he just indicted himself again.

Welp, even in the booth with a bird's eye view this guy still has no clue, we need to bring in people who have pride coaching at UM. We need richie incognito while he's off to come and payy coach goldie and the 500 club a visit.

The style of football we play is boring, the defensive scheme is offensive. The way us & Fsu are playing, coach gumbo fisher is going to have to start turning players away like suicide bombers in Iraq. recruits are going to start beating down the Fsu door after this non-sense.

If we become bowl eligible, i say we self impose another bowl ban to save us from embarrassing ourselves.

Shapiro wishes he could shame the u as well as dno can

The canes have given up at least 400 yards a game in 30 of the last 33 games.
Absolutely pathetic! Fire these bums NOW.

Death to Golden!

If we can't afford a 5 star DC then who are the fricking young guns who would realistically come to UM and install a new defense. If Al gets it right then we might even keep our verbals. If he stays with this defense then we can flush away next season as well regardless of whether he goes 10-2 or 9-3. The wheels fell off tonight, the question is will we ride the little spare tire until it's bald or go get something new.

Death to D onforio!

Funniest post of the night, wish I was in the mood to laugh.

Death to Shapiro!

9-3? dream on! i have been calling 8-4 for awhile. i am thinking - lolol could really be 7-5. actually hope it is. things need to get worse before they can get better. ag needs to be fully exposed. we need recruits to decommit. go 7-5 this yar, go 6-6 next..then the seat gets hot. hang on for at least another 3 years of steaming poo, canes fans. we aren't going anywhere good anytime soon. so sick of having been mediocre for so long now. um should merge with fiu and get some money behind a revamped program. keep the name. start over. this regime, top to bottom is garbage. garbage. garbage.

lol - the announvcers on the pitt notre dame game are now talking about pitt getting to bowl eligibility because the schedule doesn't look so daunting after today. they actually mentioned pitt beating us. they called it. i call it. duke is guaranteed a win.

legit question, as we have regressed. again...can we beat uva?

Calvin do you dispute my facts?

I really don't think the defense is soft, I think they are out of position 60% of the time.

This team was out schemed with 4 plays...qb draw, wr option, screen, and a drag route. We can't stop those 4 plays. If Duke runs those 4 plays they can score 21 points. FSU can score 40+.

You guys realize Virginia Tech put up almost as many points as FSU.

The end of the season is basically here, it's enough of a sample size and second chances have been given. D'nofrio cannot continue in his current position.

I'm not wasting any more time on this garbage product. My Saturdays will be spent doing things that are fun like boating or surfing. I'm boycotting the canes until Al fires Donforio, or al gets fired. Either way I'm done with this garbage

"We either cut a man loose or we missed a tackle"

If he says the safeties ran into each other we'd have a "hat trick"!

Not worth my time to watch loser ball

3rd and 17 + 3rd and 12 = 14

Art Kaufmen.

We can keep them going, if you really think Al's going to change up his game plan, ever, instead of one size fits all'ing it up.
