Butch was by a better a coach than the past three coaches. That's who they need to bring back.

Knight, you are not correct, at all. He got here. along with Ray Lewis III, on potential and talent. The use of that talent and potential is on the coaches. The ability to make tackles, or not, and all.

thats right champcane.....the majority on defense are ALL golden picks......

and why not still talk about shannon, after all, shannon has the most cane "legacy" associated with him than any player in UM history....

after 3 years......2009 randy shannon:

9-3 record / 4799 offensive yards @ 400 per game and 3955 defensive yards @329 per game...

AVERAGE WIN/LOSS RECORD OF OPPOSITION FOR 2009 = 7-5

Current 2013 al golden:

8-3 record / 4886 offensive yards @ 444 per game and 4488 defensive yards @ 408 per game.....

AVERAGE WIN/LOSS RECORD OF OPPOSITION CURRENTLY = 5-6

so what you see is shannon had a much tougher sceduale and also you see that whatever shannons offensive players do.....goldens defensive players give back.....444/408

2013...forget it....UM has NO QB and graduation will hit UM hard......

this is all just fantasy for UM bloggers praying and hoping.....FYI, you need alot more than that to go to the show.....

Don t get me wrong. I ll always like RS he was a very good lb a um watched play. I think he was over his head hc though. As for golden I ll give him a couple of more years.

Shannon was a "tunnel Vision" recruiter. All these schools here in South Fla, loaded with talent, and he chose a handful. and he was tasked with hiring his staff, which for whatever reason, was an abject failure! Whipple was innovative at first, but ended up flaming out. Bill Turner? ok... He was reputable. Patrick Nix? Really, Shannon??? Plus, don't forget... Thanks to RS, we were known as "Time-out" University.

Golden has it together on the sidelines, but his allegiance to his good buddy, and that soft ssa scheme, will eventually catch up to him and force the AD's hand to bring in a "cut-throat winner" Coach... on the cheap, of course. Also, most of these players SUCK! Duke, Hurns, Burns, Coley, DZP, maybe Bush and some O-lineman. Those LB's are hot garbage! slow and soft! Everyone elsewho currently plays are suspect! don't get it twisted... Florida state has a lot of guys that should have never left Miami-Dade County!

I'm black, so don't come at me with that racist crap! Or hater talk either, because I call it like I see it. and I'm looking at Bullsh... on the field!

ChampCane.... Do your homework, buddy! You obviously have no cluse what you're talking about! His dad wanted him to come here to play safety and he got moved to QB for depth.

Shannon did a great job cleaning up the mess that Coker left. He restored a lot of dignity to the Program due to Coker being asleep at the wheel. A great head coach, however, he's not. I respect him greatly, but he wasn't up to the task. All you need to know is this. He's 3 years removed from the UM Program and he hasn't been able to get a D Coordinator job. I know Calvin, it has to be racism.

see green peas.....success can only come from a strong statistical background.....the data has more weight than 300 page binders, fake TD's in stadiums, novelty stitching on the collars of uniforms, game ticket giveaways, gimmick cane walks and orange ties.

and lets not forget ever popular golden tweet....

"Al Golden tweets:.......TEAMe®:“One man cannot do right in one department of life whilst he is doing wrong in any other department..."~Ghandi

best fan reaction of all time....

"Look, Gandhi made some stirring statements in his time, statements many humans would do well to live by. But do we really want to be associating a football team that has last season’s 116th-ranked defense with a standard-bearer of nonviolent resistance, Miami?".......fan tweeting back

"Because there’s “Forgiveness is the attribute of the strong” and then there’s “Allowing 32 points to Boston College.” Not trying to tell y’all how to do your jobs. Just saying".....fan tweeting back

this is classic, you just cant make this stuff up.....this is what UM has come too.....luckily old time cane alumni can watch ESPN "U" 30/30 on Saturdays as therapy, lol

He was a quarterback until Al Golden got here.

Also the reason Randy Shannon picked the low level assistant coaches and coordinators was the low level of pay he received.

You did not know that just like you keep, wrongly, running your mouth about the players.

And.... You really think Lewis is going to play ahead of Yearby? Powell? That Lewis signing was a gift to dad in exchange for $$$ donations. I'm really close with people on the inside... and word has it that he's a wanna be thug who can't read, write, spell, or count. Go take your nonsense elsewhere!

Really...? Bill Young was low level? Did you see what his defense did to Baylor last night??? Daryl Heidelburg would have been a better OC than Patrick Nix, (and came cheaper, too). Just so you know... He's the head coach at Norland.

UM never paid for top level coaches. Damn dude... You talk like you know this program. Stop misinforming these readers!

exactly...Lewis sucks, the only way Lewis sees the coin toss is if yearby decommitts.....which I say is 50/50 now.

total gift for dad.....

Knight the post you leave are not that thoughtful.

And you're right... Highsmith was a quarterback till AG got here... and recruited Gray Crow, Preston Dewey, and David Thompson. Boy, you suck at giving facts!

Dude, I'm tired of owning, you. It's lunch time!

Lets talk some relevant topics people..

1) Why on earth is Chickillo so heavy? He will not make it as a tweener. Should've went lean.

2) If linebacker depth is such an issue, why only two recruits and both are average to below average 3 star players. I can hear depth excuses for next year already.

3) The Manning camp is obviously flawed at assessing QB's. Boy oh Boy.

4) Crawford is not a RB. He's a football player. We have Gus, Clements, And Corn who could've and should've stepped up.

5) What's with all the three and outs? We run on 1st down, and predictably pass thereafter. I just don't get it.

6) How bad does our defense have to be for Golden to fire his best friend? Is it even an option?

7) What was out signature win this year. We have 8 wins, but we played like we have 6. Season lost, agreed?

season is lost...duke takes on fsu for title.....fsu will be state champion for 2013....

UM gets lousy bowl pick if it loses to pitt......

the good news is dnofrio will be back for all the golden lovers in 2014.....

next year I am just gonna grow a "mullet" and watch nascar.....

But Knight you said it was Robert Marve, who was at Purdue then, was the reason. That he changed to his never, previously, played position of safety. Just try that bs on someone else.

You are what I call an Uncle Clarence Thomas. An Uncle Tom that is a lot worst than Tom and Juan Williams combined. I live in Jacksonville and if you pay any attention you can spot those and racist. If you cannot do anything else you will learn that in Jacksonville.

Yes, Golden for Prez, back to this team. You posted very valid points.

Watch Morris be a star in the NFL.. typical

Yeah... I'm a Clarence Thomas? Really? That's your response to getting your facts shot down? Nice try, internet "tough guy". Any more names you have for me, since you obviously have no credible arguments other than to agree with with other posters. So what does that make you... a "yes" man? I live in Miami. Why the hell would I want to go to Jacksonville? Go cheer for the Gators! Your facts might better serve their message board.

Uncle Clarence Thomas I did not start this. You did. I showed you were wrong.

You wanted to impress these white racist fans like five titles, zook, etc.

Go somewhere else with that garbage!

I'm convinced... You really are an idiot! Where have I been wrong? Marve was on the team when Highsmith was recruited. in 09, His daddy started crap then Shannon dismissed him (oops, I meant allowed him to transfer). That left JH, Cannon Smith, Taylor Cook on the roster. Then Highsmith came in and RS knew all those were garbage so he moved Highsmith over to QB and he beat those other scrubs out. They all transferred, leaving only INT12 and Highsmith.

You sir... are an idiot!

The things you post are typical of an Uncle Clarence Thomas.

You are degrading of players and the previous coach.

But you're quiet as a deaf mute when these racist are lighting this site up.

I do not remember your post then.

You posted wrong information and I pointed it out.

You can take that other garbage somewhere else!

RE: anyone watching Rich Rod's 3-3-5 destroy Oregon?
______________________________________________________

"Beedharphong,

Yah I saw Arizona destroy Oregon 42 - 16. This was after my Washington State Cougars (improving under Mike Leach, by the way) beat Arizona last week, 24 - 17.

Arizona destroyed Oregon. The Cats played like freaking demons on both sides of the ball. I have seen no such effort like that from the Canes in any game.

You hate to complain about a win, right? So forgive me..."

- dbc
_____________________________________________________

Can't agree with you more, dbc.

Credit Mike Leach - watch WST in the next few years.
Credit Rich Rod - he's building something.
Credit David Cutcliffe - a lot of analogs to Alverage...hmmm

I have been turning on AG, have completely turned on DNo, but you look at modern fb offenses and look at the success of what Dno is trying to emulate in the pros...it thoroughly debunks all the experts on here lamenting a lack of the good old UM defenses of yore...

My point was and is: We don't have the right talent, nor the right coaching to get the most of the talent we do have.

WOW. I haven't picked a blog tribe! Imagine that.

On the coaching:I do marvel at Auburn having the essentially the same players as the team that went 3-9 last year, yet by recycling a former coach, have a real opportunity and valid argument to play for a national championship; if they beat Alabummer and Mizzou...

As to the players - how long has rich Rod been at AZ? His record is mixed, but using the fair to middling talent he HAS, he and his great hire DC adjusted well enough to destroy one of the most vaunted and feared offenses in the nation, years running.

Complaining about a win over a BAD UVA team...it's not sick. 478 yds; 200+ rushing - despite the second string garbage time argument - is still not good. The UVA win is virtually meaningless. We should have pounded them.

Instead, we can't look away from the continued glaring deficiencies as they pertain to the upcoming game vs. Pitt and whoever we get pounded by in our bowl game.

I love my Canes and want AG to succeed; I just don't realistically think that the numbers and history add up to it the way any of us want.

On the bright side, look at David Cutcliffe's Duke. Can't deny the path he's taken...He did have the benefit of perennially low expectations - AG will never have that, but it is the lone bright spot to make a comparison. Look at Addazio at BC...the culture's a changing there too.

We have bright spots and a long road with the path the school has chosen. Hate to say it, but only time will tell.

Do think DNO should go, but seriously doubt he will.

5 years. Ken Dorsey back at the U coaching in some major capacity.

Go Blue Devils! Give FSU hell! FSU - Pound everyone if you get to keep your Squintin Winston. Auburn - pound Alabummer, shock the world and prove that the COACHING MATTERS.

8-4 here we come.

Who ever said bill young was at ok state please get your facts straight he was fired he's not the dc anymore I think hs went to Wyoming

Calvin: Good post. Snelly and JJ simply set the tome with respect to going throughout South Florida and getting winning players. An example of this is when Wille Smith, way before my time, the old timers will tell U that Smith was sort of the beginning of the superstar recruiting years. I really don't think there is much difference between the RS years and the 'Goldy years.

Sure, RS was hamstrung via administrative budget. But so what RS lost some games. So has "Goldy. The kind of players Um has gotten since that awful Coker left has dwindled. When I see players like Pau and Johnson suddenly out the door I realize that this isn't the U lie it once was.

I respect people like DS and the "Harvard of the South" mantra. But this ain't Harvard, but it is a VERY good school. That means it's time to get back to what really put UM on the map everywhere and that football. U can go back to Geo Mira and those cats, whatever the case UM has always been known for good football teams.

"Idiot"Cane... You have yet to show anything that I have said that was factually wrong. Anyone who goes to the games or watches them on TV can see that these players are horrible! They can also see that the DC is either inept or unwilling to adjust to put the players (as sorry as they are) in a better position to make a difference on the field. I can degrade players all I want. They're on scholarship and we're paying fans who go to the games. They're providing a service. I go to the games (unlike you in Jacksonville) and if I don't like the service I'm paying for I have every right to complain about it. Last time I checked, this was America! But then again, keep beating the same old "you're a racist, Clarence T, or whatever name calling" drum you got (up there in JACKSONVILLE). I don't come on here agreeing with people everyday like you having your nose up Calvin's or HTC's or whoever's butt crack! You're an idiot and a douche!

Jsy... I stand corrected!

dajedi,
you have broken the internets by admitting that your were ever mistaken. Lord, help us all...

I do go to the games in Miami. I come down there as many as 5 times a year.

I did point out your wrong post. You are still posting wrong information.

Go somewhere else with that garbage!

I know, right! haha I might be wrong once... But that moron is always talking out of his ssa!

Knight I see others have experienced that garbage you post.

A piece of advice. These racist posters don't like you anymore than any other Blacks. They are using you like the name I gave you, Uncle Clarence Thomas.

Dude comes on here after all the race motivated crap we deal with on here and has the nerve to tell other black men not to "play the racer card" with him. As if are the ones 1) bringing Shannon up in the first place. 2) making racist statements about Liberty City, Opa Locka and associating these places and black people with laziness and welfare.

Racism and play that imaginary card denotes power, U need power to impact someone with your racist beliefs and black people don't have the power to execute racism institutionally.

Dudes continue to throw the players, their people, and their neighborhoods under the bus to provide a crutch for the current coaching regime.

Dudes (Anonymous, PNWCane, championship etc) came on here after the game bashing Shannon (as if he is relevant and to deflect accountability from Golden I suppose) and some people responded, thats the daily sequence of events.

Then here U come talking crazy after the responses. But where were your posts when they began the RS talk? Where was any of the faux neutral dudes at?

WHY DO YALL NEVER RESPOND TO THE INITIAL POSTS THAT DISPARAGE SHANNON? WHY DO YALL WAIT FOR RESPONSES BEFORE U DETERMINE THAT THIS DEBATE IS FUTILE OR RACIST IN NATURE? Do yall not see your own hypocrisy? Why is it always considered to have gone too far when a RS defender responds NEVER before then.

Dajediknight- GTFOH! Coonery personified. Don't come in here jumping in front of *return fire* for boss man.

Highsmith is trash. Kacy is trash. Donofrio is trash. We shouldve lost yesterday. 2 of thise picks were drops by the tight end that popped into our hands. I used to like this blog. But manny is a p.u.s.s.y. hes so scared to go against the nonsense that AG and donofrio are feeding the public because he wants desperately to stay in al goldens favor. Yesterday we held the worst team in our conference to 483 yards...they held us to 300 yards. I repeat. Uva defense held us to 300 yards. We gave up 483 yards to one of the worst teams in the country. VIRGINIA DOES NOT HAVE BETTER TALENT THAN MIAMI. What can anyone say about that? 300 yards to 483 yards. We dont have world beating talent, but we have very poor coaching. They. Are. Trash. Much like manny and his pathetic attempts to stroke goldens meat.

U know, the UVA game was one of the worst I've seen ever. these were two bad teams that took the field. I think their QB is rated next to last in QBR. But the UM D still gave up practically 500 yards.

That is a first. JJ wouldn't accept it. It would have never had happened under D guru Butch. Not RS either.

Recommendation: Regime change. Fast.

What is the fascination with you guys and CONSTANTLY bringing up Shannon, I mean GD guys he's been gone for 3yrs. He's GONE, he AINT coming back, he was a MEDIOCRE HC, and regardless of that we all have a soft spot for him because he's a Cane, but for the love of pete you dudes go too far with this weirdo way of his name entering into convo's. Calvin I'm sorry man, but you're one of the ones who for whatever reason seems to defend him like he's your brother and also you seem a bit racist about it as well. Let it go man, let it go.

Posted by: Cola Cane | November 24, 2013 at 08:03 AM

This is the last straw and its time to call a spade a spade. U aren't dumb--U understand and see the sequence of events and know the the difference between cause & effect, so there's no need to explain anything to U anymore.

I pasted the post from "championships is all that matters" that precipitated my post, which proved that mine was a *response* to RS being brought up *again*.

Despite these efforts U continue to ignore or address those who initially bring RS up (since thats supposedly what pisses U off). U consistently only go off after someone defends him and responds to posts that disparage him. Then U go at Calvin *specifically* (a known defender of RS when it come to comparison to Golden). This pattern of behavior means that U have an opinion on the matter, aren't unbiased as U project, and U agree with the bashers. So please stop the middle of the road routine when U continue to neglect to address one side of that road. U are an enabler.

HTC... were you hugged enough as a kid? You rant as if you have a vested interest in these posters. Go have a drink, playa!

....and who is "Bossman"?

He's 3 years removed from the UM Program and he hasn't been able to get a D Coordinator job. I know Calvin, it has to be racism.

Posted by: rboud | November 24, 2013 at 11:34 AM

Now this is a dude that comes in here--posts whatever the prevailing groupthink is and immediately vacates.

I have a question for U rboud: Was Shannon a good DC at UM?

Did he win the Broyles trophy for best coordinator in the nation?

Are your answers to these questions proof that he deserves/has earned a DC job again?

No true Hurricane would ever discredit Shannon's accomplishments and impact as a DC at UM. No defense he has ever been associated with at UM as a player or coach was this bad. In fact they were ALL dominant.

To make light of him not getting a DC job is pure Cane Mutiny or Treason.

....and who is "Bossman"?

(In your mind) Anyone who doesn't look or sound like U.

Shannon did a great job cleaning up the mess that Coker left. He restored a lot of dignity to the Program due to Coker being asleep at the wheel. A great head coach, however, he's not. You like others keep trying to make it seem like shannon was going to leave here and get hired right away, no to many coaches get hired right away after getting fired because of contract situations. next, shannon has been offered d-co jobs, shannon doesn't like the spot light so he's been laying low, he's humble, so he got back out there, turned down a few d-co jobs and just wanted to be apart of somebody elses staff. For those who think shannon won't be a d-co again you're smoking crack.

shannon is a chess players, he went to tcu when they were one of the top defenses in the nation just to see if anything new was around, than he went to arkansas to see how brett bilema puts a program together, as it's being seen right now, brett is going to have problems in that sec conference, that big 10 mentality doesn't won't work in that conferencem just like that big 10 mentality is not working in the acc.

shannon has options, people who know football know guys like shannon are the real deal when it comes to defense.

Typical c00n response, "U care too much". Well my response is that U don't care enough.

"vested interest"--U came here jumping in front of return fire--now thats what I call "vested interest"--the question is whats your motivation and what batteries do U take?

Energizer or Duracell?

ROFL, the good news is, coach goldie knows now for sure that all that cosmetic stuff he's being doing is not appeasing to the real UM alumni when the product on the field stinks. For a headcoach in his 8th year, this team looks to raggedy in many phases of the game every week. micro-managing goldie every week talking about something is hiss job to fix. The defense has been bad for 3 years now, if you don't have an answer by now, you not gone have one later.

When coach goldie knows defense better than the guy he's hired for it, that was a disaster waiting to happen from the get go. Everywhere shannon has been he's had success, he taught the linebackers(Norton, jack del rio) at dallas to name a couple, he taught the linebackers with the dolphins(zach thomas, derrick burgess) he was basically a coach at UM during his playing days but he also came back and coached on the staff for real. It's comical to hear people that son't know football try and put shannon down.

Our best win this season with everything considered is Georgia Tech.

HTC... your post shows you as a Shannon homer! The product he put on the field was inexcusable as a UM fan. You have got to be related to somebody on that regime's squad or you would realize how stupid your last post sounds! Oh let me guess... I'm a Clarence Thomas! The last 8 years of hurricane football has been shameful. (Oh yeah, I lump in two white Head Coaches)

A homer is delusional and makes things up

Now U have to prove what U say: Name one thing I've said about *RS as a DC* thats an outright exaggeration or wishful thinking? I'll wait.

The topic with "rboud" was RS as a *DC*--NOT as a *HC*. Go back and read.

I've never excused nor made excuses for the product Shannon put on the field.

"We sick bauce, WE sick". He'll definitely be one of those ones that'll try harder to put the fire out if the house is burning.

Shannon was an extraordinary assistant coach. He had his unit prepared, but anyone on here can explain to me why he should have kept his job as HC, after having lost at home to a beyond pathetic USF team and having only 5 or so recruits commited (and don't give me that sleeper commits crap), zero player development, and having players quit on the field? Anyone? Or can we just talk about our inept team this year and what's on the way in terms or talent!
