We did worse against FSU than the previous year, that was the first time that happened this season.

I hope we get back to the trend of showing improvement, and do better than last year's 30-12 win.

Four down defensive linemen and man to man pass coverage underneath two free safeties, disguised blitzes, orrrrrrrr

standard dumb'o three down def. linemen against 6 blockers and dumbo's zone, NO PASS COVERAGE, bend and break, prevent the win, loser NOOOOOO defense????

What's it gonna be? I do not have time to watch the latter.

Cane 72, video clips have already been provided of Miami with four and even five linemen, getting burned on failed blitzes.

You don't have time to watch the latter, but you have not actually SEEN the latter.

No such thing as 2 free safeties

A better approach is needed on D. This elementary approach has to go.

But if UDunno, UJustDunno.

Where is Artie Burns, Hagens, TE and FB usage? This kid Burns has to be put in the lineup. Porter showed me something against FSU. That guy was hustling and didn't give up. But maybe somebody his exact weight needs to play directly next to him on the DL.

The DL is weak, but I saw enough hustle from Porter to keep him playing. I'm going to give Dunno some credit: Maybe, just maybe, he hasn't found the right mix of players. 3-4 ain't the answer unless U got a guy who is immovable and dreams about plugging holes.

To read some of these comments you would think that your the experts, doing the coaching for a living, and those coaches being paid just don't get it. My way of thinking is that if those nay sayers think they know more than those currently in the game, you need to either suit up, grab a clipboard or go into coaching and work your way up through the ranks. Demeaning the coaching staff and/or the players isn't going to make them listen to you more than they have already. To read some of the posts on the sights, one, would think you are the coaches and these coaches are just standing in for you until you are ready to take the raines. Let's let the coaches coach and the players and see how they do.

I see JSY is at it again. I work with a couple of folks from GT and even the GT Players on O acknowledge pound for pound, our D contains their option plays the best.

I posted what Joyner FSU said about our physical play last Saturday.

Joyner called Miami “the toughest team we’ve played this season. Despite the scoreboard, that does not determine the way, how physical those guys played us. Those guys played our hearts out, and if we have to see them again in the championship, I can tell you that’s going to be a pretty hard-nosed championship game.”

Again from ESPN's blog:

"The conventional wisdom from the outset of the season was to blitz Winston, forcing the inexperienced quarterback into a mistake. But Winston has made defenses pay for such an unimaginative approach. Entering Saturday’s game, he was exceptional against the blitz, completing 70 percent of his passes for an average of 12.4 yards per attempt with 11 touchdowns and just two INTs, according to ESPN Stats and Information.

By the time Miami arrived in Tallahassee, the secret was out. “They blitzed a little bit, but they did it more like fire zone, slanting the line,” tackle Cameron Erving said. “They were coached well.”

By the time Miami arrived in Tallahassee, the secret was out.

“They blitzed a little bit, but they did it more like fire zone, slanting the line,” tackle Cameron Erving said. “They were coached well.”

So, there. We can sit here and complain all we want. The talent we have on D is either inexperienced or not cutting it. Clearly, better talent will mask mistakes on execution.

D.. I'm just a fan who has orange and green blood having spent 10 plus years on the um campus. I keep my wants professional and about the u. Btw today is a holiday so I had some time to put together this little piece:
currently we rank at 31 in total defense giving up 364.1 yds per game. Now if u subtract the truly scrub teams of fau, usf, sav state and look at only acc play and uf we are giving up 438.4 yds per game and currently Boise is in 94 place giving up 438.2 yds per game so our adjusted ranking would be 95 in total d. Last year when I adjusted the stats with only acc, kstate and nd we gave up 492 yds a game. That would have placed us between Indiana and temple at 117 this year. So our improvement is not that impressive it's fools gold bc of the scrub teams and if the only argument for keeping dno I hear from ppl is were improving, what improvement? We are now in the 90s, at this awesome rate of mprovent by 2024 we will have a top ten defense

We have another independent thinker among us, you're in good company with several of us(Harriet TUBMAN, jim gallo, d, Cane72, True Cane, cool cat and others) on here, alot these guys that post in here are a new type of breed of wanna be UM fans, i don't recognize em myself. They make no sense, they think coach goldie is a good coach the same way coach goldie tried to tell us how good boston college was last year and uVA, foolishness.

I will say this about that game though, smo17 is holding alot of guys back offensively, stacey coley should've walked in the endzone on one of them bombs, he had that db beat several times. Than had he hit herb waters instead of trying to drill everything herb might walked in the endzone right up the middle of the field.
If we had a better qb in there, the offense would be clicking and nobody could actually stop it. The problem coach coley has is, he's in a tug-o-war with saying ok, smo17 is a senior vs him trying to figure out what's best to call for him.

While smo17 seems to have a good grasp of the offense, in game, like coach goldie and the 500 club, they all get brain cramps. smo17 has bottled up the offense since he's been here when it comes to playing teams with solid defenses. He's an average qb with an elite arm, he's not one of them qb's like j70 where when j70 got going, he was an assasin out there on that field, alot of people sleep on j70's talent as a qb, he just came to UM at a time where the coaching staff wasn't stable.

Had j70 come in under the same staff that ken dorsey had, he would've broke every record at UM.

Defensively, this cotton candy scheem we running now doesn't fit the personalities that come up out of Miami, we're an aggressive group, sitting back waiting for a team to attack us, nah, we attack them. Now, these big 10 guys have been allowed to bring there every 20 year in contention for a national championship philosophy here and that's the trajectory we're at now.

Any, i got a question for you, do you belong with FOAA!

JSY AND CALVIN:

YOu defensive recalculation would only be valid if did the same thing for every other team in the NCAA DIV I.

Simple mathematics. You can compare apples to oranges.

Have fun with that!

*you CAN'T compare apple to oranges.

I forgive you JSY, your a doctor not a math grad :D

Excellent post!!

Were you in Tally for the game? If not, did you get the game tapes? Respond honestly.

Listen to TH3 above. He says the DBs are very agressive.

Nittany Lions posing as Canes. Thats exactly the philosophy they have Cal, you nailed it: "every 20 year in contention for a NC". Process, not enough ponies, self-imposed penalties, projection, playing cards weren't dealt right, politics, puppets, appearances, parity, only those who are paid count, ponzi's, pedophilia, Paterno...Penn State! Pleeeaazzze.

We got beat by 4 TDs and dudes posting the same 3 quotes from dudes who kicked our butts saying that we did a good job lol! Weeeaaakk!

So coaches are exempt from accountability for the lack of execution of their player's?

Like jsy, been saying all day, D'No basically just came here and refused to change his defense to suit his players--the Miami Hurricanes will just have to struggle until he gets a senior-laden team and the right horsies to fit his weak strategy. Three years in--Chick and Denzel are juniors--and they still don't have the horsies apparently. Before the season the same dudes were raving about depth, talent an experience we have--now its back to square one, despite most of the team being in their 2nd to 3rd year of UTough lol.

And they get to be mad that we have the audacity to call them on it.

The onus of accountability and performance conveniently stays on the kids alone--but y'all are real Canes fans right? Fans of a coaching staff is more like it.

Coaches make hundreds of thousands--millions of dollars but dudes refuse to stand for anyone holding them liable to anything.

How does those quote prove that we don't have enough talent?

And if they believe that we were coached well, then why did they manhandle Us and were able to blow us out.

Lets try not to take advice from our enemies, do U really think they'd tell Us to do something different when they romped Us?

Whats up with everyone conveniently referring to the NCAA *investigation* as actual sanctions? The interviewer at the 1:11 mark (2nd video) prefaced a question to Golden with, "..now that the sanctions are gone...?"

What?? The sanctions were just announced a week or two ago. Were now currently on sanctions. That other stuff was hearsay extortion and we chumped out into self-imposing.

So now the new mind state and excuse strategy of the defeatist Canes is to speak as if we just got off of probation. And true to form dudes are here talking as if Golden just really started coaching the Canes.

Note to the OC: Crawford can run, throw and catch screen passes and I bet he can punt and kick if called on to do so. Use a player like Crawford to your advantage, but DO NOT overuse him.

I tell U what:A QB option using No. 25 will tell me that we got innovations and want to mix it up and confuse and bury the opposition.

But my guess is that the O will be dumbed down and the "ho-humness" will resume. FYI: VT is "hunting" mode right now.

Nittany lions posing as canes?

Recall miami had a national champion in waiting in 1986. No way penn state could beat us. Slow white boys. Really?

Gues what

They beat us.

And they beat us again in 1999

I agree with football.

Lamarcus joyner outright propped our boys about how phsyical we were. That was classy. He didnt have to do that. Others said the same

I too spoke with georgia tech players. They said how fast our lbs were.

Bottom line is this.... This FSU team is the best seminole team since the 90s. Better even than the weinke teams bc they have a running game. I hate to say this but fsu canbeat bama. I cant see anyone but miami in a neutral game beating the noles

The shoe fits...

Another spoon fed flunky

What a physical team we were who just so happened to get romped by 27 points...not adding up,

At least you're openly embracing your Nittanyhood.

Posted by: HarrietTubmanCane | November 05, 2013 at 07:43 PM

HTC, you didn't even know what Mahoney-Pearson is. You are coming and lecturing here, saying some of us who disagree with you are Nittany Lions?

Please, grow up! Even the opposing players are openly admitting that we are physical and that the score is not indicative of that. You are in a dreamworld if you don't want to listen to the guys who play the game.

HTC,

Man we have hit rock bottom as a fan base. We have guys trying to justify our defense by using quotes of players from one team that could have easily racked up 600 yards on us and another team that ran for 395 yards on us. The expectations have definitely dropped.

Calvin,

I see FAU want to interview the d-coordinator from Ohio St, is anyone going to ever want to interview No D?

Dudes on here looking up *post-game* bulletin board material of another sort, in positive reinforcements from our rivals. Now how Penn State is that???

Joyner is getting congratulated and called classy after trying to decapitate our players. Thirsty for any semblance of hope following that rout. Stooping very low now.

Well well...Lamarcus said we did good!

Pull those skirts down and Cane Up for once!

Wassup Calvin and htc.... I've been following this blog for a while reading the arguments and just having discussions with friends of mine but I had to comment when all I kept reading was lack of talent and depth. Trust me guys I do believe we're not all there yet talent wise but It's like ppl think we are just a bunch of scrubs our talent isn't that bad it's clearly top 20 defense level if used right still too many fans don't want to hold dno accountable and that just blows my mind cuz I don't see any positives in this guy. First year I said ok he had to deal with suspensions and it's his first year lets give him time, last year I began by also believing it was lack of talent bc we did have a lot of guys leave one way or another but after he goes ranks himself 117 or whatever it was, I honestly didn't know that there were even that many teams to tell the truth, I had to ask myself is this commensurate with the talent? Based on our recruiting if u believe stars we should be minimal top 50 even if we didn't play to our potential but 117!!?? How can a fan base ever accept that? Any top program would have made a change after a showing so poor. Walton was let go for much less. And year three dno is basically the same. Our lack of talent and depth is the coaches more than the players

I know who Bernard Tiger Clark is though and that all i needed to know to become a fan.

U love the colors orange & green...the pageantry of it all.

I love the essence and rebel souls of the players inside the uniforms and when they aren't in them. Its a mystique that U and others are missing. Its about being a man then hitting the football field. Aint know second chances or excuses in these streets. I'm not from Coral Gables and didn't go to school at UM to learn that whomever is paid most--is morally and intellectually superior.

F' that dorm

Yeah, the police, for him running an escort service. He uses that title d-co as a front, after 2 1/2 years of giving up all these yards, they're on to him now!

True and jsy, bless y'all for even speaking up sheesh. I'm done with it, dudes are just gonna reiterate the same crutch excuse list tomorrow at 9am, and this cycle of substance vs appearances, starts all over again.

JSY,

You posting the truth man. It's obvious, when they start with the personal attacks and wanting to know why you aren't a coach, you've made it bro. See, they get their opinions from Golden tongue and crew because in their minds only coaches should have opinions.

They used to say schools were lined up wanting to sign Al. I still haven't seen that list of teams. All speculation bs started by bloggers from other teams and Al's agent.

Man, you read this post and it really puts things into perspective. The self proclaimed coaches on this blog need to either suit up or grab a clipboard (LOL!).

Thank you Tennessee Cane, made my day!!

Man many of you posters on here, why even bother posting the same things over and over and over? We need a new DC, we need a new HC, this guy should be doing this or that, or we should go after so and so, because he gets it. I mean GD, why not just wait till the season is over and make your evaluations then?

None of (or very few) EVER want to talk about the game coming up, it's always shoulda, coulda, woulda. We lost to FSU, and it's done, leave it and move on for crying out loud. We have VT and it's bigger than FSU.

We need to win the Coastal, for ONCE before ANYTHING else.

You must not be paying attention then. Our DC has declined a couple of HC jobs already. Your homework is to find out which universities offered him the job.

Halleluja brother. Speak it!

Tennessee cane excellent observation about let the coaches coach. A lot of the bloggers here have a good football IQ. Some have played the game, some have never lost a game, some have relatives or kids they taught the game of football too. So excuse me and other bloggers who are passionate about the canes and the direction they are headed. So don't sugar coat 41 to 14 bashing by your rival as a barometer to where you are at as a team. Not sure whether this is coaching or players. Miami Hurricane football teams attack on offense, they attack on defense, they attack on special teams. This is call aggression. Looking back at the FSU game didn't see it. Lead from the front not from the back.Where was the real leadership on 4th and 1? Where was the real leadership when clock management was needed when they were down by 21 and you still trying to run the football in the 4th qtr. Where was the leadership when Chickillo was getting mugged.Every kid on this team has proven himself as a great highschool player who is good enough to play football at this level. That's why he is wearing the uniform. Win as a team get everybody involve offensively and defensively. Trust every player.

F**k you pay me.

People, we lost to what might be the best team in the nation...relax.

I like the state of the u commentary but I can never post there because of the captcha. I have tried hundreds of times. I have had my wife, kid and friends try to post there. It never accepts the captcha code. It is free, not a pay site but you have to get the captcha right. I think that site loses hundreds of fans over it.

I have posted elsewhere in the past. Canespace for example. I ruffled feathers there when I disagreed with the host and I am banned from there. Calvin and macjones who goes by D here are also banned, I think. If you don't say what they wanna hear, you get banned. At one time, they wanted me to write blobs for them. Later, they didn't want to hear what I would say. They say they have to be sensitive to only saying what the U administration wants to hear. I got tired of that shat and besides, I have other things to do with my time than be there anyways.

This site is perfectly fine. I get to say what I wanna say with no ban. Why would anyone go anywhere else?

I agree with everyone who posts here. Is Golden the best coach ever? Not right now he is not, Is coach D the best DC? not even close! But many have said bring Butch Davis back, or Shannon is the man for the job. Davis took more than six years to rebuild our program. Shannon was not ready to be a head coach.

Most people do not bring up what we had to go through in the mid to the late 90s. They only bring up how dominate we were when we were champions. We had great players come through our school, and we will have great players again, but everyone must be patient. I remember rooting for a team in the late 90s that was not that great because of sanctions. I am a U fan through and through no matter who the coach is. Win or lose I will stick with my team.

Right now I think coach Golden and his staff is the right fit for us to be able to be the best in the near future. Forget about who was here, and just support the ones who are here no matter what. If they are replaced then I will root for them.

Remember we were not always the best, but we are always the best fans not matter what. Support our team win, lose, or draw.

It funny i dont here anyone here talking about here great schiano is?

U start a paragraph out with a sentence like that and U expect to be taken seriously ?

U write like George W. Bush speaks.

its all about finding truths......look at the data

1. since 210 fsu has lost 1 HC and 2 DC (all new playbooks)
2. on both sides of the ball fsu was younger and smaller
3. a freshman QB went against a senior QB
4. how would the treat of sanctions affect the day to day practices and games....it couldn't
5. UM athletes already had a strong football foundation

so the only logical answer is the coaches.....that is the only TRUTH you can get from the data...now add that the probability of beating FSU is low....what would the goal be going forward?

but as long as tickets sales are better year to year.....golden will stay....I don't think the administration really cares that much about winning a national championship or division title....that's all for the media....

plan on watching fsu with winston challenge to national championship until graduation....

I don't think Coley's ever heard of a screen pass. RUN INSIDE, RUN OUTSIDE, THROW FOR 50 yards, PUNT!

LOL.....thug team! Bunch of street criminals. Arrest records prove it.didnt he throw a punch on that play??? Man you guys suuuuuuuuuUUUUUUUck!

this is Ur last warning...

LOl at last warning....was that a message to the coaching staff?

Lol why the canes dropped so much after just one loss. what does the nation know about us we dont
why we get no respect.......
why did fsu o linemen beast up the chick
why ask why
we just a bunch of dopes

Coley can't do it
Fisch did not do it
Whipple?
Nix?
we been sUcking for yeras and years dogs

Calm down now, don't confuse us with the Gators. We do move the ball. Go 'Canes!

Drew, not one person has said to bring either of those coaches back to be head coach, in months. Alfred James Golden has shown he cannot coach talent. Those other coaches did not have this amount of talent, at this point of their tenure. Not anyone can show an example of Alfred James Golden displaying any good coaching skills. Not one example of a minimally good coach can be had from the coaching job of Alfred James Golden.

Truth hurts...not as bad as U think...we have 1 loss....U have 4x's as many....maybe i have U all wrong and Your truth hurts and thats why U picked that screenname. We beat VT and we are better than last year.We ARE going to a bowl this year, thats already better than last year. We control our destiny this year, thats better than last year. We sent the gators on their downward spiral. 4 loses already.......hmmmmmm.....truth hurts indeed. Do U cry when U type?

We played with heart.

Defensively, we got them into 3rd downs but couldn't contain Winston. His greatness elevated an otherwise evenly-matched team. It would have been nice to see a more aggressive look when Freeman started killing []_[]s, but overall it seems like as the game went on they were one step ahead of the defense. That screen was a killer. We consistently put guys into a position to make plays like Highsmith when he should have blown up Benjamin, and #31 on that blitz when Winston broke the pocket.
I think this game highlights the need for playmakers on the d-line; I see youthful potential and mediocrity at that position. []_[] also need a more physical presence at safety. Highsmith isn't physical, doesn't tackle well, and seems to have a low football IQ. Love the Jenkins boy though.

Offensively, I was happy with the players effort and, aside from rushing a throw or two and under throwing Stacy on that TD, Stephen was very good. Walford needs to focus a little better--I'm surprised Sandland can't beat him out for playing time. As far as the play-calling I thought it could have been better situationally. 4th and 2? Play-action roll out to TE or tuck and run. Everyone was expecting the give to Duke. I know we are capable of those plays, Fisch was that type of playcaller, just not sure why we seem so generic at times. Hopefully they are saving the flea-flicker for a rematch.

Looking forward to a rematch. I think our guys will play much looser. The []_[] can play better and beat that team.

Last thing, Winston is very good, but Johnny football is best player in the nation.
