No need to call names, just read the article Sunny Dee provided the link for. It cleared up a lot of rumors and innuendo for me about Davis.

Sean McDermott?

Have you seen the Allstate commercial? There is no better example of Crook than Mayhem.

Nothing wrong with his comments because thats all he knew and was the prominent sentiment at the time. Sometimes quotes need context.

Posted by: HarrietTubmanCane | January 02, 2014 at 09:39 AM

HTC, the word for these liars, is liars. People like those liars still swear that they are speaking the truth. Even when they are lying.

A bunch of Mayhems on this blog and to Miami fans that understand the difference between production on the football field and excuses for why there is not production.

Yeah I've seen them , they're hilarious.

You're right, I'm gonna stop pressing him and others. Like being irritated by a bird for flying.

After the Wake Forest gm during an after gm speech Golden emphatically tried to get his players to understand that they just had a big win. Are u kidding me. This is when I finally got off the Golden bandwagon. I'm sure other people saw this video and must have been laughing. Celebrating a win against Wake is where this program is at with this leadership. Very sad.

5 days and counting and no coaching changes yet.

Gallo luvs the KAK more than making lists. And he swallows.

No HTC, keep destroying them anytime you want to. I am laughing my arse off at the lengths they go to distort, change and misquote.

All of you destroyers, of the Mayhem posters, keep doing what you do to them.

^^What???? Interpretation LMAO!!! What a racist pig U are! And coward at that.

That GAYtorkillercane is a bloody F-O-O-L, too!

FWIW GAYtorkillercane... your boy Goldie was OUTCOACHED by a conference head coach, again, with a roster FULL of those prime time TWO-STAR and THREE-STAR former prep players.

Chit GAYtorkillercane, this conference head coach MADE your bUbba's Goldie nd' Marky Mark look like the FOURTH-RATE, mediocre major college football coaches they be. hUh LOL

Texas A&M 52

D-U-K-E 48

Go bloody figures'.

Also, since U are now slurping Cutliffe, is Cutliffe a superior coach to Golden?

Posted by: HarrietTubmanCane | December 31, 2013 at 10:24 PM
@@@@@@@@@@@

Voila! H.T.C. keeping it real, naturally!!

I'd say as of right now Cutcliffe is a better coach. He has more experience for sure and has been in major programs and knows what it takes week in and week out to win. Took Duke to probably as high as they'll ever get. Now having said that, AG could also end up being that way too, just hasn't shown it yet. The WF game the speech he made, I think he meant that we could've lost and the way we came back and won was a big victory. I could be wrong, but that's what I got out of it.

With that said, Golden is now 0-9 vs teams in ranked in the Final AP Poll. The average score in the 9 games is 19-38.

2011 - Lost to KSU
2011 - Lost to FSU
2011 - Lost to Virginia Tech
2012 - Lost to FSU
2012 - Lost to KSU
2012 - Lost to Notre Dame
2013 - Lost to FSU
2013 - Lost to Duke
2013 - Lost to Louisville

B.I.N.G.O.

And there U have it. Accountability. I too like Al. But he's not above being held accountable just like any Coach that has not led his team to an end of the Season Top-25 ranking, much less even beat one in TRHEE YEARS. If we (especially Donna) are ok and content with average to good 7, 8, 9 or going for that ever elusive 10 win seasons, maybe a Coastal every 4-5 years, but get hammered by FSU or Clemson in the ACC Championship game and then predominantly December Bowl appearances, then an average to good X's n O's gameday Coach like Golden is our guy.

But for the life of me, how so many fans turn blind eyes on how he evaluates his BFF as the DC and sees no problem there, you, we and I will be getting the same product year after year. Our Defense makes me physically ill to watch most of the time. Al must have a secret antidote that he takes and sells to those that think he's some kind of savior Head Coach.

And Penn St. is not going after him. Al's agent will make it seem that way to squeeze out some more bucks or job security (especially for his buddy). Penn. St. wants to distance themselves are far away as possible from ANYBODY with ANY ties whatsoever to Joe Paterno with this next KEY hire I assure U. But, let's just say for arguements sake that they did pursue Golden. The first question they would ask is, "Are you willing to take off that stupid-silly Paternoesque looking tie and look the part of a 21st. Century Head Football Coach on the sideline Al?"

That ship has sailed far, far over the horizon.

Storm Johnson is going off, gearing up for the league. Another Shannon garbage recruit lol!

@@@@@@@@@@@@@

I had the same fuzzy notion floating around in my ego last evening.

And it's a shame that Thee Carpetbagger REFUSED to give S.T. a break.... a tragic shame. Because Storm would have carried the load after THE DUKE went on the I.R. list. hUh

By the way, since Goldie's been in Coral Gables, he has RUN-OFF/COERCED at least 65% ( SIXTY-FIVE percent. ) of the 36 player whom once donned the Green nd' Orange colors. Go bloody figures'.

And then you have these FOOL-MINDED Goldie sycophants and apologists WHINNING that there's no DEPTH and what not.

Well, who the Freak' FAULT is that, y'all bUbba's.

Oh, I seriously HOPE DE Grimble " BALLS " at Oregon St. and maybe earns conference honorable mention or better.

That way, there'll be additional PROOF that both Goldie nd' Marky Mark are TO BLAME for running off or PRESSURING talent to leave the program.

Guys Storm did NOT want to compete with the crowded backfield. He walked into UCF with virtually NO competition. He left us because he wanted to be close his Mom, quoted his Dad, and the level of comp that UCF has faced other than UL and of course Baylor and that's ONLY this year, just hasn't been what Miami has faced. Would he be as good against the same teams we've faced is the question. Also RS also ran off a bunch of guys during he tenure as well. It happens to ALL teams.

The WF game the speech he made, I think he meant that we could've lost and the way we came back and won was a big victory. I could be wrong, but that's what I got out of it.

@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@

Just another Goldie LAP POODLE. Nothing more, nothing less.

It's just a tragedy for you and your FOOLS, that Miami, Florida will NEVER win a conference championship. Let alone compete for a national championship, FOOL!!

Yeah, yeah your boy's Goldie nd' Marky Mark need THREE MORE SEASONS and what not. dUh

D you're an idiot, why not scroll back and read my earlier postings. I'm in NO way an AG lap dog. I merely stated what I felt the guy meant during his speech. I mean read your OWN posts dude, you sound like a 5 yr old 'Goldie nd' Marky Mark and what not, duh'. Who the F understands that.

Final Total Team Defense 2013

NO. 89... read it again and CONTINUE to defend The Carpetbagger's AKA Goldie nd' Marky Marky!

NO. 89, NO. 89... Goldie nd' Marky Mark mumble to each other that there's IMPROVEMENT on the defensive side of the L.O.S. lmfao

Yeah, yeah your boy's Goldie nd' Marky Mark need THREE MORE SEASONS and what not. dUh

--------------------------------------------------

Do you ever actually read what someone posts, or are you just a selective reader and what not, duh?

Golden and D'Onofrio's team defense the past three seasons and their final rankings.

** 2010 NO. 22

2011 NO. 45

2012 NO. 116

2013 NO. 89

This season and last season a ONCE STORIED Hurricane team defense finished LAST in a moribund A.C.C. hUh

Matter of fact, these defenses are the absolute WORST Cane defenses in FOUR DECADES!

** Thee Carpetbagger's INHERIT a solid-on-down Top 25 team defense and proceed to DISMANTLE said Miami, Florida defense.

That particular Hurricane defense had SEVEN RETURNING STARTERS. Go figures'.

Oh, I dig how that denizen of FOOLS at that canespace was bloody touting how the Canes were going to be a TOP 35/TOP 40 team defense in 2013.

And those same FOOLS and their foolish chief SOUP'er said D'Onofrio was going to make Hurricane defensive matters right and what not. hUh

FWIW... and just to prove I'm not an absolute HATER of Golden and D'Onofrio's defensive schemes, ploys and philosophy's and what not.

I, too, made an early August prediction and said the Cane's would finish somewhere between the...

NO.56 - NO. 65 final Division I total defense percentile.

Man was I wrong! How foolish was I to give both Thee Carpetbagger's the benefit of the doubt. When the EVIDENCE was there on the synthetic-turf during the 2011 and 2012 seasons!!

I think MOST of us thought our D would be light years better with experience under their belt, not just the CS'ers. If AG doesn't step in on the D debacle, then he damn sure better MAKE Dno change his schemes with a quickness.

Anyone take a gander at Michigan State's recruiting classes for the past four seasons? According to ESPN

2013 - 6 four star; 10 three star; 2 unranked
2012 - 1 four star; 17 three star; 1 2 star; 4 unranked
2011 - 2 four; 17 three; 1 two; 1 unranked
2010 - 2 four; 14 three; 3 two; 2 unranked

Yet, they have probably the best defense in all of college football. I don't hear any excuses about the lack of talent at MSU. The fact is that the coaches have an eye for picking under the radar players and are terrific and getting the most out of what they have. They also have a genius DC. A walk on player made the biggest defensive play of the game.

Meanwhile, in Miami, a roster full of players more highly regarded coming out of high school has one of the worst defenses in the nation and routinely gives up over 500 yards a game.

I wonder what Narduzzi could do at Miami?

Nittany Lions seek new coach
Updated: January 2, 2014, 1:59 PM ET
By Josh Moyer | ESPN.com

Former Penn State defensive standout LaVar Arrington, who played for Paterno and harshly criticized the university for hiring O'Brien in January 2012, had some thoughts about who would be a good fit in Happy Valley.

"I'm an Al Golden fan. I love Al Golden. I thought he was an awesome guy," Arrington said in Orlando this week while serving as an assistant coach at the Under Armour All-America Game. "I feel like Penn State should be coached by Penn Staters.

That would be great, if Al Golden was hired away. But LaVar Arrington does not have a great deal of clout in that area. We will see which way they go. The article says they expect to make a decision soon.

I would love to fid out, Sunny Dee. That defense plays hard. Our guys have to think too much. Remember in D. Erickson's 2nd year, he tried to change the defense, and it showed, same reason, too much thinking, not enough reacting. He changed back in year 3, and earned his 2nd ring. I doubt Al will change anything. Good post

Find

Watched the UCF vs. Baylor game last night, and man what a difference coaching makes!!! UCF didnt even have its defensive coordinator to prepare for this game, as he got hired away to a head coaching position, but man were they prepared on defense. And please nobody on here tell me that UCF has more athletes than Miami!!! And UCF did not have better athletes than Baylor either. That was the reason for them being 17 point underdogs. What they did have was great coaching however.

Its been extremely frustrating this bowl season to watch all these teams come into their bowl games with excellent game plans, while the hurricanes looked lost on the field. I mean did we even practice?

Its also been frustrating to watch the canes sit back and not make any coaching moves when its obvious that the entire defensive staff needs to go.

Al Golden cannot preach accountability without holding himself and his coaches accountable. His unwillingness to part ways with No'D really has me hoping that he takes the Penn State job, and takes his BFF with him. Leaves the door wide open for Schiano, Chud, or Butch.

Leaves the door wide open for Schiano, Chud, or Butch.

Posted by: DirtyRed | January 02, 2014 at 03:20 PM

If either of the 3 were hired, Jimbo Fisher would vomit and then call Texas back.

I agree about all these great games, kinda bittersweet.

thats not even the half of it....go another step further:

Defensive Recruits Only:

2012 - UM: (6) #4 ranked players - (13) #3 ranked players = (19) total recruited with a a #116 national ranking

vs

2012 - MS: (2) #4 ranked players - (4) #3 ranked players - (1) #2 ranked players = (7) total recruited with a #4 national ranking

then....

2013 - UM: (5) #4 ranked players - (2) #3 ranked players - (2) #2 ranked players = 9 total recruited with a #89 national ranking

vs

2013 - MS (2) #4 ranked players - (4) #3 ranked players - (2) #2 ranked players = (7) total recruited wit a #2 national ranking

those pesky sanctions just hurt us in recruiting......Pat Narduzzi is GOD...

theses a Italian I can be proud of.....not these "ragu" butter as the sauce imitations, lol

Great stats analysis on defense and recruiting. Great posts on coaching scenarios....but stop getting our hopes up. Ag...2020. Wretch.

what did you think when golden let Eddie Johnson go? One of UM's best players.....

who does that? its insanity....

Dont get me wrong, I would like nothing more than for Al Golden to succeed, but on his current path its not going to happen. The sooner he sees that the better. If he cannot see it, then see the door!!!

We need a defensive coordinator who is going to come in and employ an attacking style of defense that takes advantage of the athletic recruiting base we have in south florida.

On another note, I often wonder why the canes never look to our local high school coaches to fill some coaching positions, like Don Solindger was. We have some good ones like Roland Smith, Billy Rolle, and Ice Harris. Why not give these guys a chance as positional coaches who could develop into coordinators one day. They would really help us lock down the area recruiting wise, and they are familiar with our athletes and can really relate to the kids.

They couldn't do any worse than our current defensive staff....

Dear Zook the blind Frustrated Golden Apologist ...

Where are U ?

it's all about ACCOUNTABILITY !

Golden prior to this Season - "We're a far more mature, experienced, U-tough stronger and overall deeper Football Team this year in year 3. There are NO MORE EXCUSES here at the University of Miami." (cue the excuses zooker)

Golden Saturday after the Louisville beatdown - "We made too many mistakes but we'll get it fixed. We just won 9 games for only the 3rd. time in a decade." ? ? ? Yippie ?

Golden next Summer - "We have a ton of young and inexperienced new players that will be expected to come in and compete for immediate playing time. All positions are open for competition. It's all part of the process. We'll get it fixed."

2011 - Lost to KSU
2011 - Lost to FSU
2011 - Lost to Virginia Tech
2012 - Lost to FSU
2012 - Lost to KSU
2012 - Lost to Notre Dame
2013 - Lost to FSU
2013 - Lost to Duke
2013 - Lost to Louisville

And of those losses, it's not just that they were losses, it was the manner in which they were losses... Beatdowns. Absolute Smoked, Beatdowns. No excuses.

good thing we had all those barely wins over the likes of UNC's, Wake's, Virginia's, B.C.'s and others.

"freelancing" = instinctive reaction.....

UM's defense is taking their golf lesson to the course instead of just letting their athletic abilities take over and play......

"let see...step 1 then 2 then I hit as I'm on the tee".....this staff has our guys totally f...cked up....

Golden WILL NOT cut his buddy loose. Therein lies the real dilemma.

Golden/D'Ohno > or NEXT ?

Again, Golden is NOT getting rid of his BFF... It's "part of the process" that we as longtime Cane fans and supporters must come to grips that these 2 Nittnay Lions are connected at the feet, ankles, calves, knees, thighs, hips, torsos, ribcage, shoulders, cheeks and "temples".

So the good news is that we will only have to suffer through one more year at the most with Golden and his Siamese twin. By then all will be able to see what must of us already know. That is all except Zook of course.

I just caught this huge misrepresentation.

Also RS also ran off a bunch of guys during he tenure as well. It happens to ALL teams.

Posted by: Cola Cane | January 02, 2014 at 02:06 PM

30 plus players, in closer to two years, than three. That is not the same as a couple in four years, for Randy Shannon. That is more in line with a program that does not use the one year scholarship tryout, like Al Golden does.

Al Golden uses the technique of over recruiting, each year. Then run off scholarships to replace those he ran off. He also ran off the players on the team when he was hired.

That has been done very often, by many of the disreputable football programs. But never at Miami, until now. That is another of the many reasons, that were obvious to me, as to why Al Golden was not a good Miami hire.

COACHING (A+)

Mark Dantonio and his staff were one step ahead of Stanford's accomplished staff. It started with Dantonio's exemplary crisis management of two-time All-Big Ten linebacker Max Bullough's suspension. Play caller Dave Warner was 12-of-27 converting on second down, while wrinkles added by Jim Bollman kept the Cardinal off balance. Defensive coordinator Pat Narduzzi was aggressive as ever, but also, keenly accurate on when and where he directed the blitzes.

Penn State, a school that can cheery pick their head coaches, has placed Al Golden at the top of their wish list.

The Penn State administration is smart enough to realize that Al Golden would be a prize catch and soon have them back at the top of college football.

Should Coach Golden accept the Penn State job it will be a brutal blow to the University of Miami football program, not the least of which will be the 2014 recruiting class imploding.

After the program crippling Coker/Shannon era combined with the brutally destructive Shapiro NCAA debacle Miami teetered on the abyss and was almost magically saved by Al Golden from decades of mediocrity that even the most negative critics, WHO ARE BEING HONEST, have to marvel at the job Golden has done.

Should Al Golden decide to accept the Penn State job Miami football will most likely rapidly slide backwards again and turning it around a second time as Golden has done will be near impossible as recruits are getting further and further away from being positively impacted by the exploits of the past great Hurricanes teams.

Butch Davis being invited back is only slightly more likely than Howard Schnellenberger and Lou Saban coming back.

I wish "same verse" was right, but reality is we are stuck with this for 3-5 more seasons if PSU doesn't save us. I understand why he got a few more years when this all hit, but to sign someone this long is just pathetic. You would think they learned a lesson after the last 2 hires, now 3 busts in a row leaves little hope for the program. The board would probably give him more years to convince this guy to stay if PSU called. Aren't they supposed to be smart?

"I'm an Al Golden fan. I love Al Golden. I thought he was an awesome guy," Arrington said in Orlando this week while serving as an assistant coach at the Under Armour All-America Game."

~Yet another football expert singing the praises of the great All Golden.

If Al Golden leaves Miami football will most probably go the way of SMU.

If the 2014 recruiting class implodes, which it will almost certainly do if Golden takes the Penn State job, then as Dandy Don said; "Turn out the lights--the party is over!".

Those REAL Miami fans should hope and pray that Donna Shalala can convince Golden to stay.

PS: Once again today, as they have for many months, you have several Gators posting on this blog using countless screen names rooting for Golden to resign as they know damn well that will kill Miami football for the foreseeable future.

The projection by Mayhem of the actual reason for his posting on this blog.

With that said, Golden is now 0-9 vs teams in ranked in the Final AP Poll. The average score in the 9 games is 19-38.

2011 - Lost to KSU

This is another piece of evidence reflecting negatively on the actual events of Al Golden's coaching tenure.

And the joke continues Champ Cane. As if "the best brand in football" in "the most fertile recruiting ground" in the country won't survive a coaching change.

Zook - please give it up. I can assure you I am not a Gator fan (and have been a Canes fan since birth), but I've seen enough to know that, at the very least, D'O is garbage and Golden's support of D'O is killing the defense. All of the facts and hard evidence shows that Golden is nothing more than an average coach who has not been able to get the best out of his players. I will grant you that he is a great recruiter and good spokesperson for the program. Maybe he will get better at actual football coaching but it's really just a hope at this point.

Why can't you just engage in a rational discussion and provide some support other than anecdotes from former coaches and players who would never say anything bad about anyone as to your belief that Golden is a great coach? I know there may be a few people on hear with different agendas, but the vast majority are diehard Canes fans who have seen enough to conclude that Golden is not the right fit for this program - and that includes HTC, ChampCane, Calvin, and others who you think are all the same person.

I will say this again - if Golden has the courage to fire his best friend it will change my opinion of him. It will show me that he is willing to put the program over his friendship and that is also willing to change his philosophy and admit he is wrong. I just don't think he'll do it.

Hear = here... typing too fast...

Heya Zook,

If we are "unfortunate" enough to lose Ag, are you going to follow him to PSU? Are you going to support whichever new coach we get?

5 NCs by 4 different coaches. This U has and will never be about and encompassed by one man. I just hope people who believe it does, will leave with their true team if Golden and UM part ways.

Looks like PSU is coming after Golden. Good.

Disturbing comments from Bethel on the defensive scheme.

How does Dino keep his job , seriously. He couldn't do any worse if he tried.

Golden will "stay the course", its the corporate credo. He's going out swinging, whether now or in the near future.
