QB Kevin Olsen, WR Rashawn Scott, CB Ray Lewis Jr. don't make bowl trip

ORLANDO -- The Miami Hurricanes were hurting at receiver coming into this game with sophomore Herb Waters out.

They are minus another: junior Rashawn Scott. He was among a list of three players UM confirmed did not make the trip up to play in the bowl game.

The others: freshman quarterback Kevin Olsen, who had made previous road trips and dressed in uniform, and cornerback Ray Lewis Jr.

UM has not given a reason as to why the three players are not playing. But they have confirmed they were left behind.

Scott has been suspended multiple times, including at the end of last season.

Olsen was charged with leaving the scene of a car accident before arriving at UM this summer. The report stated that Olsen “appeared to be under the influence of something.”

He and Lewis were both being redshirted this season.

Either way, it's never a good thing when you don't end up making a bowl trip with your teammates and you are healthy.

If our goal was to get blown out on national tv and field the worst defense in um history year after year why did they get rid of Shannon? I'm not a Shannon fan but if the administration is going to accept this kind of showing why not just keep Shannon and save money

I luv how people have been saying since these morons have been here "at least the team didn't quit" ROFL!

How ironic, my buddy just texted me saying almost the same thing. He said "Shannon can get Miami blown out in bowl games for half the salary".

Jeff Fisher was a good OC but I knew he would not stay long. Let try and get Mike Martz as head coach when Al Golden leaves(Ex-St. Louis Rams Coach)the greatest show on turf 2000-2003. Make sure he take his flunkes with him from NJ. If my son who was a number one college recruit, I would not let him mess-up his career under this current coaching staff. At least Florida and Texas knows when to get rid of their dumb coaching staff. At this point, no one will be buying season tickets in Miami...empty stands again (sad).

The thing is, shannon never got blown out in a bowl game, in every bowl game he coached in, the team hada chance to win it in the 4th quarter, i'm not sure what games people were watching when shannon was here.

I need 2 more scores from somewhere to win my over bet. Thought it was a bigger lock than just betting Louisville, but didn't figure we'd have no O. Defense about as expected.

Well, well, well, Is this garbage enough to question if these Pedo State guys are the right guys for Miami? This shat is ridiculous.

And to the jackass that think forty time is the same as short area quickness I cant help you, go talk to your science teacher.

Mahorney,

please give me more on why these misfits should continue to coach at Miami.

Remember we had so much to play for and so much prep time. GTFOOH!!

One thing Shannon had was a defense that came to play and god knows he had his teams come to games to play this is sickening watching this team play this way

Crow Crow Crow

Shannon saved his big losses for the regular season, like the OB swan song against UVA. The tight end is still open.

It ultimately isnt goldens call htc....golden answers to many people.

500 yards...

Custom4oo has a memory nearly as defective as Lady Calvin. Shannon's teams came to play? Did you sleep thru the UVA swan song OB game----worst game in Cane's history where the team totally quit?

Fire the coaching staff

Calvin I agree with u, I was just trying to illustrate the point that golden is not any better than Shannon but makes more money, even without u tough we played much better defense before golden came.

A rivalry is born.....?

Wow! This was Bad!!!!

Well I guess this team haven't quit since the fsu game this year. Shannon never got beat the hell up by duke of all teams and that was his first year after taking over a team with no talent

Bet on Louisville and the over. Too bad bet more on over, so I'm a loser, but only a temporary one, unlike Dud D, Lady Calvin and the other dopes. How could our O be so bad? D about as expected.

At least noone could chicken out of this one now.

'Canes need coach that will coach up the talent not blame them for being out of position. No technique, the worst coached Miami teams I've ever seen at Miami. At least Randy Shannon's teams played defense.

Golden answers to no one at UM, thats one of the problems. He has been sainted like PSU did Paterno. Golden is Miami football now.

Can anybody tell me how many games Shannon teams gave up 35 points in a season my god and people want golden here

500 yds given up, check. Opposing qb has a career day, check. Get blown out on national tv, check. Out coached and out prepared, check. Honestly just another day in the life of golden.

Custom, try google. Your memory is dreadful. The 2007 Canes team had a fair amount of talent actually. These guys for instance,

2007 Jon Beason Carolina Panthers LB 1 25
UM 2007 Greg Olsen Chicago Bears TE 1 31
UM 2007 Baraka Atkins Seattle Seahawks DE 4 120
UM 2007 Kareem Brown New England Patriots DT 4 127
UM 2007 Brandon Meriweather

If Golden answers to no one, why would he bump his salary to Satan + $1?

Whats the odds that Miami will be the only ACC team to be blown out this bowl season

Calvin I agree with u, I was just trying to illustrate the point that golden is not any better than Shannon but makes more money, even without u tough we played much better defense before golden came.

I said the exact thing when they fired shannon and hired this moron, what was the point, 3 year later it's still True!

jsy, why did the defense surprise you? I thought 36 was on the low end of the range. Our O was the surprise to me.

Golden and Shannon make the same coaching salary. Golden just receives another equal amount because he can speak, run a press conference and manage the media.

GatorKillerCane all you can talk about is one game please because that game they didn't show up..So you think Shannon was a worst coach then Golden. I can give you 15 games golden teams didn't show up so keep talking about that one UV game

It was the worst OB defeat in history, a record that will now never be broken. That's why. A complete quit.

If Shannon were a desirable property he'd be a hc or at least a dc somewhere. Having seen the work product, obviously not happening.

Gkc honestly the defensive performance didnt surprise me, but what did surprise me was the lack of innovation, creativity, creating mismatches, creating confusion. I was expecting with the extra time that golden has been going on about as being helpful that we would at least see a few new wrinkles on defense for example smith for Louisville lined up all over the line and was moved around before the snap creating confusion that led to him being untouched on many plays. I was hoping to see dno move around McCord or aqm in a similar fashion to creat confusion and new looks and to creat favorable match ups to generate pressure but it was the same garbage that hasn't worked for three years

500 yds given up, check. Opposing qb has a career day, check. Get blown out on national tv, check. Out coached and out prepared, check. Honestly just another day in the life of golden.

"be the same guy everyday"

"3 Players left behind for Bowl Trip"??
Manny are you serious??
When will you start to become a writer and reporter??
UM just got pasted! Bridgewater 35-45 for 447 yards??? How can Golden defend this?? When do you weak reporters start to take this staff to task??

Where are the tough questions??

How can Golden continue to support this Coordinator??

You get a month to prepare, plenty of time to study the tape, and this is the best performance these clowns can deliver for fans??

Come on Miami Herald!!! there is no way we can continue to be on the receiving end of 500+ total yards given up by D'Onofrio's defenses every game.

D'Onofrio's performance this year,
playing one of the weakest schedules ever,
and to turn in a performance like this in a bowl game,
in our home state,
is totally unacceptable and he must be removed,
end of story!!!

No Defensive Coordinator at a major program in this country would get to keep his job.

I don't want to hear a word from Golden until he fires his buddy D'Onofrio--Like many fans. I've seen enough!!

GT scored 30
FSU scored 41
VT scored 42
Duke scored 48
Pitt scored 31
Ville scored 36
all in one season when did Shannon teams give up that many points in a season GatorKillerCane oh yea that one game against UV that's right

Puhahaha! Calvin I had totally forgotten that garbage slogan.

During Shannon's six years as UM's defensive coordinator, his defenses ranked as follows in total defense nationally:
2001 – 6th
2002 – 7th
2003 – 2nd
2004 – 28th
2005 – 4th
2006 – 7th

Please close your mouth mountain cane/GKC, U are the idiot, U continue to call other people. Shannon won the Broyles Trophy in 2001 as the best assistant coach in the entire country, so there's zero excuse for him not to have a DC job. As for the HC job, many first time coaches have had worst records and received 2nd chances. Only one African-American coach has been rehired as a HC after being fired as one--in the entire history of the college football (Willingham), I guess thats a coincidence??

If U truly respected a 3 ring Cane like Shannon, at least one of these facts would have come to mind when speaking on his current state. Gtfo! Just another racist that TB checked tonight.

With the New Year coming up... I guess we can be thankful that we didn't get Texas A & in this game or we would have given up 36 points by half time...

so sad and I'm puke when the BS excuses start rolling in from the Homers. Mark Dontknowdefense is simply in over his head and James Coley (I don't care that he's Miami born and raised) can't hold Jedd Fisch's jock strap!

*Texas A&M*

Complete embarrassment. The team was completely unprepared and unmotivated. Actually, the Defense started out decent but when it was clear the offense couldn't do anything they regressed to their old ways. Entire coaching staff needs re-evaluating. I would love it if Golden left for Penn State and they brought Butch back. Anyone read Feldman's piece on Butch from a couple of weeks ago? He would love to come back. D'O needs to go for sure. Very disappointed in Coley and the playcalling. Why can't the RBs pick up a blitz? Despite the record the team is no better than last year's team.

Think about this. Seriously. We have at LEAST two more years of this fraud....PSU ain't gonna bail us out. at LEAST two more years of this.....

How many decommits?

Calling at least 4, up to 9. All the marquee players.

well looks like jim gallo was right all along now......just like I said...a blowout and over 500 yards...

al golden needs to be fired immediately......he is just as bad as dnofrio...

Thank you Rabblerouser well said cant be said any better. We got rid of Shannon for this crap just ridiculous

Mahoney-Pearson and Zook the Gator are working on a joint sermon to be delivered Sunday morning on the blog!!

Keep hope alive!!

In Golden We Trust!

Game Over. Time for our. Golden Showers. It's good for rinsing off the stynch we endured for 60 minutes. Also has great healing power. If you are having a hard time accepting this beat down. Come fill the healing power of a golden shower. Has Penn State called yet. Gas up the jet.

UM fans are hard to please! I agree with that. We can be over the top and our expectations can be out of control.

NOT IN THIS CASE!!!
We're getting beat by Duke, Louisville, and the K-State's of the world--we're playing horrible defense and we're getting poor coaching---Fans will not accept this---The teams clobbering us are not Alabama, not OSU, they're not even relevant programs on any level
Heads should roll for this performance and if Golden accepts what happened tonight---and no one pays with their job--I'm not sure we have the right person leading our team.

I absolutely believe this post.....now

the team is lost.....no way golden can continue at UM but like I have said.....all you had to do was look at the data...it never lies...al golden NEVER had it....

More on Duke | Nov 4th

His surgery was today, I'll get a read out from sources later but here's a big chunk on Duke. But I had a long talk with someone close to him today and wanted to let you guys go behind the veil.
He actually wanted to leave Miami at several points and times last year. He's been very frustrated with the coaches during his tenure here and he's had people in his ear trying to keep him level headed and focused on the bigger prize. He's often had to take up for himself and less talented teammates. A text came in recently from Duke saying "I hate these F*(^*ing coaches" to a mentor. There's a lot going on behind the scenes.

To give you an example of the kind of thing he's gone through (all facts, no embellishing) here's a story:
Duke was injured because of blocking on a reverse earlier this year and Golden called him out in front of the whole team saying 'who told you to block like that?' Duke just looked at AG and was thinking to himself that that's the way the coaches at Miami instructed him to block. Golden then went on to say that Duke was always getting hurt and couldn't stay on the field. Right after that, Duke fired off the text above.

Duke's handlers had to continue to monitor his emotions all last season as he phoned numerous times about being very unhappy. The sense I'm continually getting is that Miami coaches have trouble connecting with certain players and treating them a bit harsh. Some may say it's football, but when your star player is saying he wants to transfer to West Virginia, that should be cause for concern. The south Florida athlete is a different kind of guy and I've seen that with my involvement and covering youth football.

Duke stayed on and just fought through stuff. He's being reminded about the bigger picture and he's definitely gone after next season, don't even think about him staying, it's confirmed. He's already tracking his draft status. He's telling people close to him that he's projected late first early second in the 2015 draft right now (pre-injury). He's determined to come back bigger, faster and stronger.

Ereck Flowers is also gone after this year. He really hates Miami. He doesn't want to even do media. He's on the first train smoking after his junior year.

I'll have more later but it's disheartening to hear some of this stuff, but I knew this was going on. Tracy Howard got into a major spat with Coach D'Onofrio last year and it kinda got viral. I learned about it and posted it hear. I now that Tracy does things like wave his hand at D'Onofrio when the coach tells him things. That's why after the two pick game Tracy had, D'Onofrio went out of his way to rip Tracy for other errors in the game, tackling. I knew there were back stories and didn't write about it. It's public knowledge they don't get along behind close doors but none of them will talk about it. It's a 'locker room' thing.

But expect Tracy to bolt also. If Miami doesn't win a championship, either ACC or BCS (or whatever the new title will be called) it will possibly be tough for a few years until the coffers are filled again because last years freshman class (2013) is disgruntled. It starts with the leaders, so it's likely a wide spread concern.

If you're calling out Duke Johnson, imagine what a fourth year walk on is treated like.
