QB Kevin Olsen, WR Rashawn Scott, CB Ray Lewis Jr. don't make bowl trip

ORLANDO -- The Miami Hurricanes were hurting at receiver coming into this game with sophomore Herb Waters out.

They are minus another: junior Rashawn Scott. He was among a list of three players UM confirmed did not make the trip up to play in the bowl game.

The others: freshman quarterback Kevin Olsen, who had made previous road trips and dressed in uniform, and cornerback Ray Lewis Jr.

UM has not given a reason as to why the three players are not playing. But they have confirmed they were left behind.

Scott has been suspended multiple times, including at the end of last season.

Olsen was charged with leaving the scene of a car accident before arriving at UM this summer. The report stated that Olsen “appeared to be under the influence of something.”

He and Lewis were both being redshirted this season.

Either way, it's never a good thing when you don't end up making a bowl trip with your teammates and you are healthy.

Oops. Louisville just scored again.

I thnk I am going to start hating on the Canes now. Much more satisfying and likely. It's going to be fun hating on AG and relishing the defeats and not feeling sorry for the idiots who come into play for this staff - they deserve to be beat down for making poor choices.

I hope we go 4-8 like the gators next year and the year after, so Golden gets canned. it's the only hope that is reasonably based.

Calvin warned everybody a long time ago that these dudes know nothing about S. Fla football and how to utilize the talent......HTV has been preaching that these coaches take no accountability.....Gallo warned about kicking talent off the team.....'72 has been preaching scheme

I'm mad at myself (homegrown South Miami Greyghost) for thinking this staff could prepare a team and gameplan with three weeks to prepare

this is all fixable.....first you completely clean house....call gruden / davis / todd bowles etc.....

pay ALL THE MONEY.....energize the fans base and media with a high profile hire....that will at least plug up the decommitts that will be forthcoming after tonight's performance....

get back eddie johnson (who already said he would like to come back)...gionni paul.....we have talent on this team.....if Auburn can go from 3-9 with no recruiting to bcs championship...it can be DONE!

perryman/walford got to be kept for 2014....let al golden interview for the psu job....but pay him off if you have too.....so he goes out a rich man, big deal...that's not important....its only money....

the brand cant keep taking this kind of abuse.....there is only so much shelf life left in it....nothing last forever....save what is left and build on it

Gallo, Calvin, HTC, 72, et al., were right all along. It's now beyond arguing. Notice the silence from the homers. I predicted after the Duke game we'd be clocked in whatever bowl game we ended up in. It really sucks to be a Canes fan now. C'mon PSU, save us.

I was so excited before the game when they were talking about AG going to PSU....those hopes are almost completely dashed. I really hope there's a mass exodus of the commits over the next two months.

2014; 4-8 or 5-7
2015; 4-8 5-7

Then we might be rid of AG and his grifters.

This should have been a closer game no excuses..... I can take a cardinal victory not a beat down...out coached period!

Consider that we won 3 games against highschool teams, eeked out a win over a historically bad UF, even at "full strength', eeked out some close games to WF, an early victory over GT, an emerging, but still lost UNC, UVA and Pitt...that's our season. Over the last decade, this was the easiest schedule we had played.

Look what UNC did to Cinci tonight, after Cinci took UL to OT...

This whole progress notion is a sham. The numbers don't lie.

you have both devonta freeman and teddy bridgewater flashing the "U" sign to both our players and the coaches......teddy then slits his throat right after in front of UM players....

UM has NEVER been mocked like that.....A TOTAL DISGRACE AND I AM ASHAMED TO BE A CANE......

HOW F...KING SAD IS THAT?

Homers are homers, I'm a homer, my hopes were up before the game.....but there is one blogger who is loyal to Goldilocks that we're all laughing at right now.....don't worry the blog's SID staff will be in full spin mode tomorrow.

Ain't nothing wrong with keeping a positive attitude, wishing the best for your team, it's the one blogger who puts the coach above the program that needs to go......hopefully to the Pedophile State blogs with his man crush on his favorite coach ever

And beed, it was never hating nor trolling, I don't know those other guys personally, but I bet they have had similar experiences with BS.

The "Three's Company" days are over. There are no more misunderstanding or coincidences. It either IS or it AINT. The easiest way to tell a jux is if excuses are being made for it where skill is expected or when appearances are being substituted for substance/results.

In this new world either U be smart OR U cheat!

Never expected to see the defense be the highlight of the first half scoring our only points and holding Louisville to field goals on several drives. Our veteran offensive line looked like Swiss cheese. Morris was running for his life on passing downs and the run was stuffed for losses or short gains. Third and long and three and out was the story all night. We needed the offense to help a weak defense but these kids couldn t tie their own shoes. The game revealed that we are not a top 25 team and Golden s process and U tuff need a lot work. I hope this embarassment and joke of a game does not hurt our recruiting class.

the players have given up on the coaching staff.......the word is gonna go out now big time.....social media will be on fire......

there is nothing al golden can say at this point.....he has lost the team......he has to go, there are no other options....

The thing is, shannon never got blown out in a bowl game, in every bowl game he coached in, the team hada chance to win it in the 4th quarter, i'm not sure what games people were watching when shannon was here.

----You have a short memory. Do you not recall the last game in the Orange Bowl? A huge beat down by Virginia, VIRGINIA!!
Shannon was a mediocre HC.
Gallo, throwing out ludicrous suggestions like Gruden? Imbecile. If Chuckie wouldn't coach the Bears, why would he coach a college team without a home stadium?
It's these sorts of moronic statements that make anything you have to say irrelevant.

What I DO agree with is that the SYSTEM, both on offense and defense are stale, badly executed by coaches and players. Anyone with an eye can see the superiority of the beautiful offense run by UL. Teddy just dinks and dunks, knowing his opponent will be out of position.
UL's players are better. One reason is not the firing of Shannon, as the racists here would suggest, but the 3 years of anti-Cane recruiting by guys like Hurtt, Jimbo Fisher, etc. Using the NCAA debacle to dissuade recruits from coming.

BTW, if somehow the so-called rumor regarding PSU and Golden is true, Shalala needs to be on the phone with Vanderbilt coach James Franklin. What he's done here in Nashville with Vandy, not just coaching but getting fans to attend games is amazing. 8-4 in the SEC, should have been 9-3. beat Georgia. among others.
Being black will be an advantage regarding recruiting. Sad. but a fact.
He is a terrific X's and O's coach, whose teams are usually well prepared, and have a top 5 defense in the SEC.

BTW Calvin, getting blown out in a bowl game, to me, is getting blown out by a far inferior team on your home turf, in the last game in your home stadium. Shut out.
The worst loss in the last 10 years, even worse than the Peach Bowl loss to LSU.

Nine win seasons have been rare over the last decade so I'll take it but to end like that completely sucks. I like Golden a lot but it's crucial that he makes changes on his staff and holds this recruiting class together. Golden said every coach would be evaluated so if D'nofrio is still here next week, I will lose a lot of faith.

you have both devonta freeman and teddy bridgewater flashing the "U" sign to both our players and the coaches......teddy then slits his throat right after in front of UM players....

------
+1, maybe the best post of your life.

Shannon was a horrible head coach, why even mention him.

Now here's the thing, it appears Al Golden is headed down the same path. Does anyone honestly believe this defense is going to be any better next season. D'nofrio is in way over his head. The guy is a terrible coach!!! How many more beat downs do we need to watch!!! Get rid of that moron or you go with him!

Get a guy who knows what the hell he's doing and make sure he closes south florida talent.

No more nice kids, process, try hard crap...just get someone who is mean as hell and get these guys playing with some fire.

That was a disgrace!!! Worst Canes game since Virginia closed out the Orange Bowl.

I guess it makes some dudes feel better about Golden to reflect on a coach that has been gone for 4 years--damn I wonder why???

Every time we lose, his name comes up in some disparaging way.

HTC, it is "Calvin" and his aliases who brings up Shannon relentlessly.
If D'Onofrio isn't replaced, Al is going to find UM isn't such a dream job after all.
With the schedule UM plays, anything less than 10-2 shouldn't be accepted, especially when losing to Duke and FSU, and a medicare VT.

I'm a little perplexed at the lack of NUMEROUS 4 star O-Line and D-Line recruits, same with playmaking LB's with size and speed.

Happy New Year to all, even the trolls.

Watching Teddy mock us with the u throat slit was it for me.

Get a new staff!!!!

Come out for blood next season...blood. Not process, blood.

We tried all of this nice guy mess and it doesn't work. We're not some normal college football program like Penn St. We know the recipe that makes this thing work is south florida kids doing their thing.

It's funny how every program wants to be Miami except Miami itself.

Louisville was out there impersonating the Miami Hurricanes and we were out there impersonating Penn St.

oof. well put, Junkie.

Consensus seems to be that AG is a bust; one we're apparently stuck with.

I have very little hope for the future under AG. Not even excited about recruiting.

Anyways, This really isn't and shouldn't be a big surprise. We've seen it coming. Just a bitter pill.

There are no excuses for that "game." It is a true benchmark of where the program really is and headed.

Maybe Canes, 2020...

As a general rule I thought all players travel to bowls
They were left behind for a reason
There is more to this
So much for our up and coming QB

if golden leaves and i hope not and since we don't have the money for a top coach then call bobby petrino and we will sure win a championship

I so damn tire of ESPN commentators and Lou Holtz. Why is Lou Holtz still being able to spread lies about Miami facilities. Give me a football field with no holes in it and really thats all you need. But for Holtz, whenever his old ass get a chance to talk badly about the U facilities, he does it, and he does it on national TV. Miami better invite Lou down here to show him the upgrades and the upgrades may not be to the tune of $60 million upgrades and only a few schools can really afford this anyway but none the less, Miami has upgraded thier facilites and this old dude mind is still living in the 80s

Golden and his staff look disconnected from the players,,,something aint right down there...DJohnson was on the sideline and somebody must have told him to step back away from the field..maybe for his best interest considering he is still hobbling ,but his response was that of a child who getting tire of taking it from the parents...something aint right,,,i think this coaching staff needs to be re-evaluated..espcially the Dline and Defensive Coordinator.

Tub O Sht,
stfu. CFB is a giant business. If anyopne thought RS would make their business better they'd hire him. You probably haven't noticed but the game has changed immensely since the RS DC heyday. He played very vanilla. Doesn't work anymore.

jsy, I wasn't remotely surprised by the D. Looked exactly like most 2012 games and Louisville actually has a good offense.

Talk about surprise at the lack of innovation and surprise. Where was it on O? That was a more dreadful RELATIVE performance than expected.

Morris is an very incomplete QB. Slow reaction and terrible short thrower. Marginal intermediate thrower.

And is anyone now surprised why Coley didn't get to call the plays. Turns out he received a pretty good check for recruiting, scouting and game planning.

Need new coordinators asap. Neither can call plays. The shotgun offfense with a non-mobile qb really hurt us at season, alomg with a zone blocking run scheme. With the size of our o- line man up blocking and driving should have been our focus. Zone blocking made them lazy and unaccountible for blocking. Run down the line left or right not putting a hat on anyone, is what got Dukes ankle broken. Watch the replay of it, noone made a single block, actually they get in the way. We need coordinator's. Still waiting for the NCCA to say something about Yahoo's report on Bama's Flooker and Caron involved with Luther Davis. There riding MISS. State about the same thing but refuse to acknowledge Bama.

Cane4ever, agree on coordinators. Don't wait by your phone for any yahoo/bama announcement, except maybe 1 that yahoo made a contribution to them.

lots of good stuff here-- there were no leaders and not very many guts shown by the players. this was the biggest disappointment of the season-- sittin in missouri all week visiting family and looking forward to this game all week-- that was a very disturbing game- very disturbing-- golden must be a puss if he doesnt make some changes--- a top 5 class is not going to happen if he doesnt--

The reason that the three or four did not go is that A.Golden does not put up with a bunch of immature thugs..There was a reason and it was not because they did not brush their teeth

Louisville will become a middle of road team in the ACC people. Each school get that dynamic QB that comes along once every 10 years or so. They have no other QB that will be as good as Teddy "punk butt" Bridgewater on thier roster. They will have to play FSU, Clemson, Notre Dame, and Miami next year. They will have 2-3 losses come next year and still recruit low 3 star players. I dislike Teddy Bridgewater. I grew up watching the U. Grew up rooting for the U. Grew up wanted to play for the U, but then go off to REP another school. This is america, go where you want to go, but you aint no real 305 player. Same thing goes for Devontee Freeman and any and all players who dont play for the U. Its all about the U in my house.

Butch Davis, Greg Schiano, and Rob Chudzinksi are available. Hurry up and grab them! It is time to move on from Al Golden and secure either one of them as Head Coach, or preferably all three of them, and let Butch pass on the baton to one of them in a few years. Those three were part of the coaching nucleus that put together what has been deemed as the "greatest college team of all time" in 2001. The school would be insane to not go after them, while they're still available. Golden is in over his head. Its tiring to continue to hear him infer that we do not have the "players" and have "been playing with one armed tied behind our back" due to the NCAA restrictions. Those are excuses. He makes $2.5 million per year. Let him take the $7.5 million he has made in three years with the school, and move on. Lets give that same salary to Butch, Schiano, or Chudz. Better yet, if the school administration was smart, they'd find a way to bring all three back, similar to the late 90's and early 2000's. All three are proven commodities at the college level. Butch never used the NCAA issue as an excuse. Instead, he recruited two and three star kids, who had speed, and who had a a chip on their shoulder. Most importantly, he and his staff COACHED THE KIDS UP. Would any great coach, such as Saban, Jimmy Johnson, Urban Meyer, or anyone put up with the defense giving up the amount of yardage and points they have the past two years? Of course not. Time to move on. I don't see why we have to go through another year of this coaching staff to make a decision by consensus when three of the great coaches that built this program to be GREAT are available in the wing waiting. TIME TO MOVE ON.
