« Al Golden after the Hurricanes' first bowl practice in three years. Practice No. 2 is today. | Main | Nine Canes named to Coaches' All-ACC team »

So, what do you think of the Teddy vs. The Canes Bowl (AKA Russell Athletic Bowl)? Should be fun.

Sounds like a movie: Teddy vs. The Canes.

At one time, Teddy Bridgewater was committed to the Miami Hurricanes. Now he's committed to beating the Hurricanes.

Bridgewater, a Miami Northwestern product who now stars as the Louisville Cardinals' quarterback, will lead the Cardinals against Miami at 6:45 p.m. Dec. 28 in the Russell Athletic Bowl in Orlando.

They'll officially announce the matchup in about half an hour. The game will be played at the Citrus Bowl Stadium.

Eighteenth-ranked Louisville (16th in USA Today coaches' poll) is 11-1 and 7-1 in the American Athletic Conference.

Miami, ranked 25th in the USA Today coaches' poll, is 9-3 and 5-3 in the Atlantic Coast Conference.

Miami leads this series 9-1, but lost 31-7 the last time they played the Cardinals in Louisville in 2006.

Bridgewater pulled his commitment from Miami after former UM coach Randy Shannon was fired. He followed his Miami Northwestern teammate and favorite receiver Eli Rogers to Louisville.

Bridgewater's mother was unhappy with the way Hurricanes fans reacted to her son decommitting from UM before he made Louisville his choice.

Regardless, Bridgewater is a great talent, and as repeatedly witnessed in his three seasons at Louisville, has a knack for creating good situations out of bad ones on the field.

Last season, Bridgewater threw for 266 yards and two touchdowns as the then-No. 21 Cardinals upset third-ranked Florida 33-23 in the Sugar Bowl.

The Cards have 23 players on their roster from Miami-Dade, Broward and Palm Beach counties. Talk about a South Florida pipeline.

If the Canes can pull this one off, it would definitely bolster recruiting efforts.

So, what's your take? Will you travel to Orlando for the game?

 Do you like the matchup?

I definitely like the matchup, and the storylines.

And just in case you didn't know, Miami plays Louisville next season, when the Cards join the ACC as a member of the Atlantic Division. They'll replace Maryland. The game date has not yet been announced.

Miami is allotted 13,500 tickets for the Russell Athletic Bowl. Tickets are priced at $77 and $82 and can be purchased through the UM Ticket Office online at CanesTix.com, in-person at BankUnited Center (M-F, 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.) or by phone at 1-800-GO CANES.

Again, I have GONE ON RECORD since the Hurricane's 2011 lost to moribund Maryland. And yes, the Turtles were lame in 2011 ( 2-10 record. ) and what not. Albeit Maryland is going bowling this season with a 7-5 record.

And my going ON RECORD has to do with my absolute DISTRUST and DISREGARD for Mark D'Onofrio's defensive acumen and what not.

Now don't get me wrong, and what not, because I don't hold any ILL FEELINGS towards Marky Mark the PERSONALITY. It's his defensive schemes and ploys which are NOT SUITED for the type of prep defensive player's, accustom to an ATTACKING, AGGRESSIVE " 4-3 " alignment.

And if that makes moi a Marky Mark HATER. Then so be it. Because I have an UN-guilty conscience regarding the Cane's TRAGIC defensive affairs and what not. dUh

It's not that serious. It was a general post. You don't like? You don't watch. You seem to be looking to internet pillow-fight. I don't care what you and your crew thinks (you know, the ones you beg to comment on subject matters because you feel thier opinon somehow boilsters your own).

I have my own opinion and I stand behind it with facts. Just because I called you all out on some nonsense you said in the past doesn't mean we are rivals. I don't see you and don't care what you think about Miami Hurricane Football. Most of you all don't know the game or understand what it takes to rebuild a program.

Now when you talk trash like Shalala ran off Butch (the king of stupid statements)or did't support Randy (poppular thought based in ignorance), or whatever mess I had to correct you on way back when that has you looking to playfight to this day; then I will respond to set the record straight. You may be able to talk that nonsense to some people but I was there and I know better. Until then I really don't care if you watch. It was for those who wanted to see it. Just do like I do most of what you say, ignore.

Now when you talk trash like Shalala ran off Butch (the king of stupid statements)

***********

It's all a matter of subjective, biased INTEPRETATION! But it's a F-A-C-T that the POWERS THAT BE whom oversee the university, absolutely DIDN'T want to pay Coach Davis a RESPECATABLE salary and what not.

And that's probably WHY Butch Davis said Adieu to Coral Gables!

Oh, it's a FACT that the university President and A.D. and Board of Trustee's DIDN'T want to pay for a relatively MARQUEE head coach after the Shannon fiasco and what not.

Chit, Mikey the Pirate was INTERESTED in the Hurricane gig. Yeah, yeah Michael had BAGGAGE and what not. So what!!

"My first post was sent before I finished writing my long and true name."
You have to rewrite your name because??? Because you change it so often. That is your true name as much as your true motives are to cheer on the Canes. Both are falsehoods, name-changing fellow, and you got caught, and even admit to it.

"it was cut off after "ACC sucks ab", I hit enter instead of space bar you dummy."
Hmm, why would you need a "b" in that new name of yours? Looks like another lie.

"The guy who posts under "Defense....blah, blah" is not me."
Right. Two totally different people that BOTH knew where that same link was, yet could not find the ESPN link I provided. What a coincidence!

"Why do keep playing detective? And who cares?"
To quote HTC above: "U care, U suggested that I and others should watch it. Also U are responding because U feel some sort of ownership over it." As for playing detective, I can do what I wish, you don't like it, you can always leave, name-changing fellow. I play detective to prevent you from trying that whole murder joking thing again. I play detective to prove your coments are lies, so that other Canes fans don't fall for them. I play detective so that when you steal Canes fans IDs, I can keep it from escalating and having real Canes fans hate each other due to your actions. I play detective to keep you from killing this blog the way you killed the Sentinel and Post Canes and gatrs blogs. And it has worked for a while, so I feel it is worth continuing.

"My original post is factual, as all my posts are."
1. I roved the original was false with my link, which also proves that NOT all your posts are factual.

"In summary ESPN never mentions the sorry canes when describing the No name bowl you play in."
In summary, they do, in the article I linked. YOU CHOOSE to ignore that fact, but that does not make the proof of your lie any less valid, name-changing murder joking fellow.

"It's all about Teddy B. Everyone knows that why must you remain blind, dumb and delusional?"
If it is all about Teddy B, then WHY OH WHY are you not on the Louisville blog with your "facts", multiple IDs, and spewed hate? Oh, becasue long before and long after Teddy B, it is All about the U, even in your bitter world. 21-16, loser, and 4-8 because of how we exposed that gatr non-offense. Dissing our bowl when you have none at all just shows how desperate you are, in any ID you choose.

Posted by: ACC sucks and the canes can't compete | December 10, 2013 at 03:06 PM

ACC is in the BCS Title Game, and the gatrs are not.
And the Canes DID compete, ended up over .500 in the ACC. How did your gatrs do in the SEC? Oh yeah, they didn't compete.

Look, I have apologized to you, I have reminded you that the rivalry is over, and STILL you come on here daily attacking the Canes players, fans, and coaches. Why don't you just stop.

Ok, robot, keep thinking U belong when U don't--just an elite's foot soldier.

If its not serious than why respond and if U ignore me then why are we talking?

I posted about Raising Canes videos that are produced by UM--not U, so yea its no that serious--so why are U taking it that way.

I'm coming at Al Golden for what I see him doing to this football program and in response U are coming at me personally for doing so. But I'm trying to pillow-fight lol! Maybe U should look in the mirror.

But U don't care
Its no that serious AND
U ignore my posts

Ok, I see those videos are working for someone--deny, deny, discredit deflect, and project.

Good to see U falling back on your training!

@@@@@@@@@@@

That NEXT MAN and his canespace ILK continue to HATE on Randy Shannon and what not.

Yet, Coach Shannon was a LAST SECOND, DESPERATE hire!! When the POWERS THAT BE within the University of Miami, Florida REFUSED to not only INTERVIEW a marquee head coach, but REFUSED to seek an ESTABLISHED head coach/offensive coordinator from a B.C.S. FOOTBALL PROGRAM.

In other words, y'all get what Hurricane football " dollars and cents " pay for and what not.

Or, you can buy a men's wardrobe from MACY'S. Or you can buy a wardrobe from Target or Wal-Mart and what not. SEE both Goldie nd' Marky Mark.

Ok, I see those videos are working for someone--deny, deny, discredit deflect, and project.

!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Seriously LMFAO... H.T.B. Keepin' it real!! Nothing more, nothing less.

LOL D!

"name changing fellow" blah blah blah
Dude you are one poor sap, you see this nemesis of yours in every poster that disses the sorry canes.
"ACC is in the BCS Title Game, and the gatrs are not.
And the Canes DID compete, ended up over .500 in the ACC."
ACC is in the BCS? So is the SEC. For the 8th year in a row. Represented by 4 different teams in that 8 year span. FSU and who else is in the sorry ACC, OK I give you Clemson. That's all.
canes did compete? Why are they un ranked with such a "lofty" record?
After all there are 6 teams with the same or worse record in the top 25. There are two more top 25 teams with 3 losses as well. Why are these 8 teams ranked ahead of the sorry canes?
Cause they can't compete in the sorry weak arse ACC. In any other conference they would be under .500
ESPN knows, we all know, why can't you find out?

Butch left for the NFL, not because of Shalala, but because of a 3 million a year contract. Tt made no difference what Shalala did once the Browns came calling. She was not even president at the time, and was only stepping in after Coker was hired. As the article shows, she did meet and approve Coker, who was not Miami's first choice even though he was the players' first choice, but had no influence on the Butch decision to leave.

Davis, 49, received no title other than head coach. But his reported salary of $3 million a year, which was not denied by Policy or Lerner, places him in the financial stratosphere reserved for the NFL's all-powerful czars.

http://www.cleveland.com/browns/index.ssf/2013/01/cleveland_browns_history_of_he.html

I could not find a salary for Butch at Miami, but Coker took over at 650K, far less than the 3 million that the NFL offered.

"A university source, speaking on the condition of anonymity, said Coker's deal is worth about $650,000 annually. "Even if there had been 500 people, I knew I was going to get this job," Coker said."

http://www.cbsnews.com/news/canes-call-on-coker/

Miami cannot compete salarywise with the NFL, as Jimmy, Dennis, and Butch all showed, or even with competeling pro leagues like the USFL, which Howard showed. That was true before Dee and Shalala,

So Goldie dresses from Target and Marky Mark gets his at Walmart?
A Walmart defense?
Walmart gets most of its stuff from China
Is that why the Taiwanese where laughing at us before the FSU game?
D you are a genius.

Many, many, many moons ago I posted the following regarding the Cane's upcoming bowl game.

Coach Strong > Coach Golden

QB Teddy > QB Morris

Well, I do believe one Charles Strong is currently in the TOP TEN among salaried B.C.S. head coaches and what not. Not too shabby for being at Louisville for such a WINK OF AN EYE time span and what not.

Now, on the other hand. Is Coach Golden even AMONG the TOP 40 of salaried head coaches. Don't answer that, I'll answer the notion...

Golden AIN'T a member of the Top 40 club... HERECTIC, HERETIC, HERETIC HATER screech the Cane lynch mob. hUh

Oh, Coach Strong has a winning record ( 2-1 ) in bowl games while at Louisville and overall winning head coaching record in such a short time span of four seasons.

In other words, Coach Strong ain't close to having a .500 head coaching record AKIN to U Know Who. Get outta' here with those facts, HERETIC!!

D, there is a reason why he is known as Alverage Golden.
Numbers don't lie.

All your posts are factual? Miami is unranked?

http://espn.go.com/college-football/rankings/_/poll/2

Ohhh, caught in yet another lie, name-changing fellow.

AND you still are trying to deny that ESPN entioned Maimi in my link? How weak, using the lie, lie, and deny method of discussion. Typical from the name-changing fellow.

As for "Dude you are one poor sap, you see this nemesis of yours in every poster that disses the sorry canes."

Funny, I just spent a chunk of the day proving Gallo wrong, without once associating him with you. Nice try at trying to make it look like you are legion, when we know you are just obsessed and willing to do anything to pretend you are legion.

Still scared to meet up and discuss it in person?

10-2 Duke is better than a bunch of those SEC teams you constantly brag about, too.

I know if we had faced an 8-4 Georgia, we would have won, but then you would have whined and said they were only an 8-4 team and why didn't we face an 11-1 Louisville instead.

When Miami beats Louisville, the same team that your gatrs lost to, what will your excuse be then? Better start thinking about it now, you have three weeks to prepare for it, like you had all summer to start your woulda shoulda coulda excuses for losing to the Canes.

At this point, UM doesn't need to compete with the NFL, just other colleges and universities. There's a misnomer that all of coaches have left just because of money issues. Thats not the case. They also left because football is not a high priority at UM. The dedication, interest, and willingness to fund a winner is not there.

UM administration expects NCs without funding the necessities that make an annual pursuit of NCs possible. They expect everyone--players and coaches to overachieve with less--thats also why coaches leave UM.

UM doesn't *want* to compete salary-wise with anyone because the football program continues to be a step-child who once made it big despite the continued undermining of its parents.

How can a child prosper when the parents are a reluctant supporter and oftentimes covert deterrent to its achievement?

Posted by: HarrietTubmanCane | December 10, 2013 at 04:30 PM
@@@@@@@@@@@@@@

Voila... it's a know fact among major college football that the Hurricanes were BEHIND THE TIMES when it came to football facilities and what not.

However, Miami, Florida has recently MODERNIZE it's football facilities and what not.

It's a TRAGEDY that the POWERS THAT BE, within the university structure didn't approve the funding, for the UP GRADING of those facilities ELEVEN or THIRTEEN years ago. hUh

Thats true and we do deserve facilities, but mores than that--we deserve an intelligent, honorable and aggressive coach. We shouldn't have to choose between them considering the achievements of this football program which deserves both, but give me the coach before the facilities.

Here's where the idiot who can't separate the many different posters on here got his 'fair and balanced' quote;

http://espn.go.com/college-football/overview/_/week/17

"Louisville entered the season a dark horse pick for the BCS National Championship after routing Florida in the Sugar Bowl last season, but a 38-35 loss to UCF on Oct. 18 upended those hopes. Still, Teddy Bridgewater has been exceptional, completing 71 percent of his throws with 28 touchdowns and just four interceptions. The Cardinals will face Miami, which climbed as high as No. 7 in the BCS standings before dropping three in a row to start November."

Hey Hurricane fans, remember when they were ranked at #7 behind one loss teams like Stanford because they were suspected of playing a joke of a schedule to that point that included five teams that ended with a losing record, one that went .500 and Georgia Tech, the hat hanging win of the year that ended up tied in the division standings with UM? Because nobody else does except the interns at ESPN. Mark Schlabach, you know, a featured columnist at the company, however, is only interested in Bridewater's exit performance by comparison.

It's a Ganes thing, they never understand.

Does the administration have money to spend on football? I think the fact that they haven't spent is somethimg we can all agree on, but if the money isn't there, then why get so upset about it.

Its something to get upset about if the money is there.

I believe the money has been and is there.

I'm upset because I've spent thousands on a product thats ill-supported by its own manufacturers.

I know the product can be excellent again, but the manufacturer is banking on my hopes that it will magically improve one day when they have the power and influence to make it what it was tomorrow. They know I'm addicted to and stuck on the product, so I'll buy the cheap watered down version with its rosy cheeked, furrowed browed, great head of haired, perfect Windsor knotted, cliche dropping, Marlboro man spokesperson and AD sells man.

I don't want him tho--I want my team back.

Go get Butch Davis or Winston Moss.

Next man []_[]p,

You posts annihilating Harriet, the self-proclaimed Muslim, are hilarious.

It does my heart good knowing that I have put Harriet on tilt by posting the "Raising Canes" video. He has now taken to posting non-stop trying to deny what the video clearly demonstrates and that is Al Golden is a great coach and has the Miami Football Program headed back to winning championships. He calls the videos propaganda and other such nonsense out of sheer desperation, which I absolutely love.

Please don't stop slapping that punk, Harriet, around with your posts directed at him as they are wildly entertaining...and factual!!

ACC just cashed in a new TV deal, money is there, that's why they're splurging on a cover for a practice field. Now they need to pony up for a real coach to run those practices out of the rain as well.

Don't believe the plead poverty garbage they love to sell.

Its obvious who got annihilated...again.

Every Muslim is self-proclaimed dummy, what are the other options lol??

HTC,

Man you need to write a book bro. You are grilling'em hard again today. I have fell back from posting because every time I pop up I see you man handling these slurpers.

I still haven't seen anybody answer your post on why they get to talk about our players calling them (garbage, no talent, Shannon's trash) but they get their panties in a bunch when we speak the truth about Golden tongue and as Cal call him moron 500. LOL.

Don't--start a motivational tip with a negative command

"Don't rise" (up)...but instead "fall back" (retreat)

ATTENTION, ROFL!

I'd be cool with them firing morons 1 & 2 and hire coach don soldinger to be the headcoach, the soft shat wil be gone overnight including the corny named "U-tough", soldinger, no gimmicks or gadgets, just real results.

We don't need raising Cane videos, that's what we got Canefreak & spoonerstreet for. F the those 2 penn disgrace queers, their football philosophy does not belong at UM.

I'm writing in the other open window on my PC. Its nothing U know that. I like to sharpen my knife on these tree stumps. When I'm finished I'll hire Fabio to be the supposed author and face of the book for press and book signings. That way it'll be a best seller thanks to this epidemic of man crushes. These same dudes would then be in line at your local Barnes and Noble buying my book and asking him for pic.

Just had some time to take out the trash today and thought I'd be a good samaritan.

Jump in bro.

Posted by: Calvin | December 10, 2013 at 06:36 PM

Well, I for one will be glad to have had the opportunity to see your real feelings on the coaching staff after trying to play nice while the rest of the golden shower takers wouldn't stop raving about an introductory press conference, for years after the fact, before it gets scrubbed from this site Calvin.

Don't judge them, they're just doing what Sandusky taught them to do, to Hurricane fans and to each other. They can get married to the real loves of their lives, each other, in Oregon next I understand.

Someone please tell me how are we on are way to winning championships ? We couldn't even win the coastal with at least 18 returning starters. But no coaching changes on the horizon in any area. They all graded out A++ no need for change. Really.

canesallnight,

we're getting hustled.

I used to love to go to Cane games, especially in the old OB, or watch away games on TV.

But since Butch left and something happened with Coker in his third year as HC, UM football has been a disaster.

RS and harris were a disaster and RS's "defense" is now being run by d'o and golden and it is a disaster.

golden and d'o have NO CLUE about defense, they are too arrogant and too stupid to ask for help and the beat down of Miami just goes on and on and on. How can anyone run 3 years here and more years at temple and not admit that their "defensive" set up is a disaster just looking at the facts????

How stupid is goldie and the administration giving him to 2019 to prove how stupid he is???

Someone please tell me how are we on are way to winning championships ? We couldn't even win the coastal with at least 18 returning starters. But no coaching changes on the horizon in any area. They all graded out A++ no need for change. Really.

I hate to tell you this goldie and d'o with your ripoff of millions in salaries, but I have forgotten more about defense than you will learn in your lifetime.

canesallnight,

we're getting hustled.

And by playa's i'm talking about people who played football in Miami, if you garbage, nobody's coming!

I can CLEARLY see both Louisville's O-coordinator and wide-out coach saying... Do you believe this dog doo-doo. A Cane DE covering RB/WR's and what not.

CANES WILL WIN IN A SHOOT OUT !!! OKAY WISHFUL THINKING I BEEN GONE SINCE THE VIRGINIA GAME JUST WANTED TO GET YOU GUYS GOING.. GREAT MATCHUP BUT IF DEFENSE DON'T IMPROVE WE ALREADY KNOW ... GLAD TO BE BACK GUYS.. HAPPY HOLIDAYS

Whats up TK, we should win this game.

UL is beatable with our talent

Its all on D'no.

Now Zakkee, if it's all up to D'no, as Alverage always says, and you remind the Ganes fans on here constantly, it's all up to the head coach.

So, basically, UM has next to no chance barring a complete 'freelancing' day on defense by all 11 players on the field all at once for 60 minutes of game time.

Now Zakkee, if it's up to D'No, then as THE WORST COACH IN MODERN UM FOOTBALL HISTORY always says, and you remind the Gane fans on here repeatidly, it's up to THE WORST COACH IN MODERN UM FOOTBALL HISTORY.

So basically the Hurricanes have no chance barring a full scale mutiny of freelancing by the defensive roster.

The instant ANYTHING positive is posted about the Canes/Al Golden the one or two Gator nimrods with the numerous screen names start posting their nonsense that has been debunked by not only the Canes fans on this blog, but by numerous experts on the game of college football:

"Ask just about anyone who has played football at the “U” and they will all explain how “void of talent” this program was when Golden arrived. This program had deteriorated to the point that the once flowing pipeline to the NFL had dried up."

"The Hurricanes were “supposed” to win the Coastal Division and reach the ACC title game this year—not because talent, depth and experience proved so, but simply because folks have grown tired of waiting and the drought has gone on long enough."

"For those who continue beating the drum that Miami “should” be back, the question remains, based on what?"

"Coker was tossed the keys to the hot rod he eventually totaled and Shannon set it on fire it. Golden was then given a can of Bondo and a running clock regarding getting it race-worthy again—and not enough folks see that as unfair."

"Golden hustled to save the 2011 recruiting class—which had only four verbal commits when Shannon was let go the previous December. By February, 19 kids joined the Miami program, though the class reeked of last-ditch effort as a new leader had less than two months to sell, close and deliver."

"Ryan Hill never lived up to the hype on the field, but soon as his playing days were over, called it like it was in eye-opening fashion. Hill went on to explain that Golden had inherited “a massive problem” regarding a culture of insubordination and a bunch of pot-smokers more interested in a sideline snowball fight, than the fact that Notre Dame was pummeling Miami in a mid-tier bowl game. Two months after Hill’s revelation, Charles Robinson and Yahoo! Sports dropped an atom bomb and began spinning jailhouse tales from a jaded Ponzi-schemer intent on destroying the Hurricanes’ football program. Hello NCAA investigation. Somewhere in those two-plus years that dark cloud hovered over “The U”, this fan base forgot how scared-straight it was in back in August 2011 when the news was first delivered."

Whether Nevin Shaprio was speaking truth or falsities, perception was reality, the media was screaming “death penalty” and a program damn-near life support looked like it was falling in the abyss. Forget ultimate success, BACK THEN MOST OF US WERE HOPING UM WOULD MERELY SURVIVE!

From begging and pleading two years ago that Miami would live to see another day, to a sense of entitlement that these Hurricanes should again be a contender—just like that, with little attention paid to the past half-decade of disaster and mediocrity. How soon we forget."

"IN ALL THE FAN-FUELED FRUSTRATION, WHERE IS THERE REGARD FOR THE 36 PLAYERS WHO LEFT THIS PROGRAM BETWEEN 2010 AND 2012, RECRUITED EITHER BY A COACH WHO DIDN’T KNOW BETTER, OR A NEW ONE FORCED TO TAKE CHANCES AS HE NEEDED BODIES AND HAD FEW OPTIONS?
This impatience, know-it-all approach and frustration feels a whole lot like fifteen years ago, when Pell Grant fraud rocked this program and frustration was also at an all-time high."

"THOSE THROWING BARBS AT GOLDEN AND DEFENSIVE COORDINATOR MARK D’ONOFRIO ARE EFFECTIVELY THE SAME GROUP WHO TRIED TO RUN BUTCH DAVIS OUT OF TOWN IN THE LATE NINETIES."

Ron Zook say's: AL GOLDEN IS THE BEST COACH & RECRUITER IN ALL OF COLLEGE FOOTBALL!!
