WR Worton not taking official visit to UM; JUCO DT Wyche de-commits

The Hurricanes aren't exactly humming down the homestretch of this recruiting season.

Although it was nice to hear 2014 quarterback Brad Kaaya will be sticking with his commitment, the Hurricanes got some bad news Thursday whenJUCO defensive tackle Michael Wyche announced on his Twitter account he was de-committing from the program.

Wyche, a 6-4, 315-pound standout from East Los Angeles Junior College, had signed with UM last month but was being delayed entry because he was appealing an obscure ACC rule that requires players be enrolled three semesters at the same junior college. As our Barry Jackson wrote on his Sports Buzz blog, Wyche could have stayed committed to UM and enrolled here in May but apparently has chosen not to, at least at this point.

With U.S. Army All-American and local standout Travonte Valentine leaning heavily toward LSU, UM currently has three defensive tackles commitments: four-star St. Thomas Aquinas standout Anthony Moten, three-star junior college transfer Calvin Heurteleu (already enrolled) and three-star N.J. prospect Courtel Jenkins.

With only three returning defensive tackles in Olsen Pierre, Earl Moore, and Corey King, the Hurricanes badly need immediate help.

> Hurricanes offensive coordinator James Coley made a late push to get an official visit this coming weekend from South Dade receiver C.J. Worton, an All-Dade 1st team selection and former Florida State commitment. But it now appears that won't be happening.

"I’m finished with the visits," Worton told The Miami Herald. "For one, it’s my birthday today and there are a lot of people I'm going to be seeing. Two, my dad won’t be able to make it too. I wanted to take the trip with him. So, it looks like I won’t be going up. I haven’t ruled out the possibility of going onSunday just to go talk to Coach Coley.

"But there’s not really a big chance that plays a big factor. I just always enjoy his company and have a really good connection with him. I'll probably just go see him, hear what he has to say -- if even I even go Sunday."

Worton said although many people are predicting him to go to Florida he's completely torn between the Gators and West Virginia.

"I don’t have a leader," Worton said. "I’m torn between the two honestly. I love the schools, both coaching staffs. I love every aspect of each coaching staff. It’s going to be very hard. I’m going to tell the coaches either Sunday or Monday of my decision. Eventually someone has to have their feelings hurt. I don’t want to leave it up until Signing Day. I feel that’s disrespectful. Whatever school I choose will be Sunday or Monday and then I’ll go announce at school."

Get Scarborough, not worried about the rest.

This will blow your mind, by the way Valentine is not visiting the U this weekend, he is LSU bound........ THIS WILL BLOW YOUR MIND http://t.co/gt753i69FE ...

Said long ago Rick, not news any more!

Did U read the part about duke, the link above

Wow al is an awesome recruiter

Worton has WVU written all over him. That's a perfect fit for him. Definitely his best opportunity to see then next level.

jajajajajajajajajaaaa !

Why is all of this a mystery to anyone look at the top 100 on the bleacher report they have committed and decommitted at every school in America Alabama leads the way more guys have left Bama fsu Texas and Georgia than us combined u cannot get them All u want to be a cane or u do not

I read Jon Drummond's tweets from your link... so Duke Johnson and Tracy Howard told the Recruits NOT to come Miami? Wow... hopefully, Manny, Susan, or Eddie follows up with Duke, TH, or Drummond for a piece on the next blog entry!

The only thing Golden had going for him was his recruiting, and now even that is going in the crapper! Say good bye to any chance at a top 10 recruiting class.

Said well Andrew, cane fans on this blog just COMPLAIN all the time,Al is making steps towards making this team a good team again,I've been a canes fan for 30 years or more,we do need to do a better job on defense for sure, but the depth wasn't that good,we can't keep trying to fire every coach after they don't win in the first couple years,we will be better defensively this year for sure, last year the offense kept the defense on the field wit 3 and outs time after time so in the 4th quarter the defense was out of gas,the offensive play calling has to get better,Stephen Morris had a bad year also,go canes

Hey Canes for Life! "we do need to do a better job on defense" That is the understatement of the decade! Do you really have confidence in coach NoD to come up with a real defense scheme other than cover zone? Because after two years of crap defense I don't.

LOL, y'all just cant accept 21-16, can U? LMAO...haters will hate and paid bloggers will spew lies. Are y'all mad Moten spurned Ufelons after that dismal div ll performance? U will never live that one down. Keep on hating, thats what we feed on.

Every time I read this crap! I think back to Golden's hiring and what a great recruiter and closer he allegedly is. Sorry readers, I'm not seeing it, and sure ain't feelin' it. Kids turning us down to attend West Virginia and Bubble Gum State schools. Very disappointing! D'Onofrio sure can't coach. You would think the guy could at least recruit somebody.

Absolutely right Rabblerouser. I just don't understand guys coming on here saying Golden has this going in the right direction. Did the miss all the blow out losses down the stretch including that joke of a bowl performance. I really want Golden to be good, but I am not blinded by my fanhood enough to realize that the coaching performance by him and coach NoD is absolutely unacceptable.

These kids are smarter than that. Asinine to think Duke and Tracy would cut off their nose to spite their face. This is when the spin and negative campaigning elevates to a higher level.

Don't panic just wait and see how all this works out.

That's just a bunch of B.S. about Tracy and Duke. Both are all Canes. All these dipshits show up when the least little negative thing happens to this program. Good luck to Wyche if this is his choice. U only get one time to wear the orange and green.

There may be some truth about Duke and Tracy spurning some recruits. By no means is it saying that DJ8 and TH3 are trying to sabotage this recruiting class. Consider this, upon noticing a recruits lackluster attitude towards the U, they may just be saying to hit the road/

Everything will be fine.

This U will prevail

The person responsible for confirming that a potential recruit meets the university and conference requirements is the head coach. If the juco defensive tackle does not come to Miami in May, that's on Al Golden.

The players recruited by Al Golden are his responsibility to get to come to the University of Miami. If they do not, he is still responsible for the team getting wins against more talented, and lesser talented teams.

So far he has loss more than the previous coach did the prior year that resulting in Randy Shannon's termination. Then Al Golden got more talent than the previous terminated coach, but he did not win any more than the terminated coach.

Now he follows up with a third year, not counting his first year, of losing more recruits prior to signing day than the other two championship Florida programs.

No greater amount of wins, no greater closing on recruits, but greater pay as a result of being lesser in the actual reasons for greater pay. As Warren Sapp said, "that's the golden way".

Think about guys, Valentine just admitted 2 days ago that players at the U did not show a lot of love..AND THEN THIS http://t.co/gt753i69FE

Well, I've been to Alabama, people - ain't a whole lot to see
Skynyrd says it's a real sweet home, but it ain't nothin' to me
Charlie Daniels will tell you the good Lord lives in Tennessee
I'm goin' back to the Gator Country where the wine and the women are free

.

u suck

YUP! But I thought it would've been more Bush, than TH3. Bush has the same temperament as Duke, as far as being Canes from jump. But at the same time, a former Cane did get on the radio, and say that one of His former players (HS), said (and I'm paraphrasing) that "it's like PSU in there now." I don't think Duke or TH3 said that, but everybody in the buildin' ain't happy...but EVERYBODY'S, NOT happy, EVERYWHERE. TIFWIW...it is...what it is.

@Rick the link is corrupted, good sir

@CaneRock its not outside the realm of possibilities...One trend i have noticed is the win-lose ratio right before the 2000-03 era. No worries on my mind to be honest. Coaching staff must and will improve, however

Hit Stick, Bust Dick, Talk S@#!
Rest in peace Taylor, Pata, Campbell, BLADES

The Hurricanes aren't exactly humming down the homestretch of this recruiting season.

hUmming U ...

5 DT's - 2 = 3 and Moten is a 280lb Strong D-End ... who are the other two ?

u got ZERO DT depth, ... again.

The link is not bad, just type it in... Al Golden went after a recruit and then tried to get him in to the U, knowing the kid would not meet requirements, so once again we lose 2 DT in one day, U FANS U ARE PATHETIC TO KEEP BACKING AFRAUD GOLDEN, THIS WHOLE PROGRAM IS NOTHING BUT THE SHITZZZZZZZZ..... GOLDEN IS RIGHT DOWN PATHETIC

and how many schools offered Kaaya

?

My bad the link is not working, they have had it removed..... ROFLMAO GOLDEN THE CROOK, GOT THINGS ACCOMPLISHED.... HE IS TRYING TO HIDE EVERYTHING

How is it like psu?

The young trolls are here because, in the womb they heard their daddies scream at the tube. The reason daddy was screaming? Because the Hurricanes were beating the crap out of daddy's favorite team.
Sooner than later it will all happen again.

BTW, the Gators sUUUUUUck.

u have no future

WE are in the top 10 already do u all realize that? EVERY SCHOOL GETS DECOMMITTS.........We have 6 or 7 slots and are ranked in top 10, We will finish in top 6

stop the negativity. Recruiting is more publicized now. This happens every year, flipping, decommitting, you name it. Al will close strong.

You guys do realize we are still in all top 10 even w/Decommits? Espn, 12 ESPN 300 Players, top 10. Rivals top 10. Scout.com top 10. MOVE On, NOTHING TO SEE HERE.........

Dom dont bother wasting yuour time with thes cut and paste idiots who like to rip on Miami
Just like the ugly girl who never got invited to the prom- these whiney beetches on this blog try to find anything to talk negative about Miami.

Thats ok- jealousy is an ugly emotion.

The U will be back. With or without Golden. The gators? well theyre the gators. The noles I respect. Dont like em but I respect them.

This class will be 10000X better than that 2008-2009 garbage clas that Randy Shannonput together, of entitled Northwestern bull kids who didnt want to put the hard work in but still bragged about wearing a pimp hat.

Dont forget dont ever forget that Randy Shannon did not want Devonta Freeman. Devonta freeman wanted so bad to come to the U

Never forget All American Amari Cooper didn't get a UM offer because he did go to camp golden...

Never forget all sec linebacker Ski Moore didn't get a offer till national signing day 2013.

Never forget Ricardo Lewis wanted to play wr but the Mac staff told him he's a db. He made the 2nd biggest play for auburn this past season.

Never forget UM legacy James Burgess almost decapitated Dallas Crawford in the bowl game.

UM legacy Quincy Wilson is head to the turds w/o a UM offer...

Never forget the Mac staff told 5 star wr Travis Randolph he was a db and didn't offer him as a wr.

Never forget UM legacy prospect Treon Harris wasn't offered until 2 weeks before signing day!

Never forget Denver Kirkland...

Never forget 5 national titles!

There are 3 coaches on the staff that have been a part of national championship teams...

Pssst.....none of them came from temple....

5 National Titles seem so far away; stop living in the past. We need coaches and leaders at the "U"; AG is not getting it done.

Why not instead of "the Hurricanes are not exactly humming down the stretch this recruiting season," why don't you point out that Golden and staff have done a great job of nailing down this class early in the recruiting process and will keep 90% of them on signing day? That they have a class still rated in the top ten in the country even with the loss of a few 4 star flips to other schools. If you follow recruiting we always read about the great job a school like Texas has done when most of their class full early and they get kudos for doing so. Golden and staff did their work early and are still trying to put the icing on what is going to be a great class. "All ways with the negative waves man," lol. Great quote from Oddball in Kelly's Heroes
but it fits!

Trolls are out in full forth spreading lies about Miami football. Duke and Howard are warning recruits not to come to Miami??? Crazy. It's one thing to be a fan of a rival program and poke fun at Miami. It's quite another to be so obsessed and concerned with Miami potentially returning to dominance that one spends countless hours a day lying on message boards. Rick - your life must be truly pathetic. Why bother going on with it?

forth = force...

Goldens tenure is going to be tested this year on field, however, his DC-will fail and have to go with or without Goldens permission, everybody even ESPN knows D OFORNIO IS OVER HIS HEAD, needs 5 years to learn football and Golden cant help him cause he is green also at his job, Temple doesnt count, DB coach needs to fired now! Sapp is correct with his comments about Miami, Donna and Blake the man behind the curtain will have to step up, its going to get ugly.

Goldenshower, cover zone huh lmao. Do you know why they play zone. Probably not. The reason they play zone is because the fastest of the DB's ran a 4.5 last season, because they aren't physical enough, because there isn't much experience in the DB, and because zone play the run better than man coverage. In zone you face the line and are able to recognize the run much quicker, and are in better position for the run. So those are the reasons the Canes play "cover zone" lmao.

Unlike many things in life and football, it doesn't matter in recruiting whether your start strong and finish weak or visa versa. The only thing that matters is the end result. A top 10 recruiting class is a great achievement even if a few players slip away at the end. The o-line commits are some of the best in the country. Plus the Canes look like they will land an elite QB (Thomas),DE (Chad Thomas), and DT (Moten). The Canes have already signed an elite RB (Yearby), slot receiver (Berrios), and DE (Harris). Anything else at this point is a bonus. Most schools would kill for the class Miami has in place now. The key to Miami's success from this point forward will be developing these players. The coaching staff must get better, but I think they know that now.

Just heard the sapp interview.....dont see where he " ripped" golden. Wish he would have spoken a little more about dno. He needs to be ripped. He is lucky to have one more season. If he doesnt perform , he will be out and golden wont save him.

Anytime you have multiple people, or should I say one or two IDIOTS with multiple screen names posting BS on your teams blog, then you know it's killing them, LOL. We're going to have a GREAT class this year, and you CAN'T get EVERYONE, ALL teams lose recruits. Can't wait to see if we get a few surprises too.

You win some and lose some in the recruiting game and by the looks of it UM is going to win with a top 10 recruiting class. Golden and his staff have done a good job bringing in the talent, now we wait to see if they can develop and coach them to an ACC championship. Go Canes!

Hat to break this to 'Canes fans, but West Virginia is not any lesser of a University than Miami. That program has raided SoFla like several other elite programs. Get use to it and lose the undeserved sense of accomplishment.
