« Batter up! Next games in Coral Gables Regional drawing near (& UM OF Willie Abreu likely to sit with hamstring injury) | Main | Hurricanes 5 minutes away from Coral Gables Regional baseball showdown with Texas Tech »

Breaking news: If you are a Miami Hurricanes baseball fan, a blog that will make you happy.

First, the No. 5 national seed Florida State Seminoles fell 6-5 to Alabama on Saturday in the NCAA baseball regional in Tallahassee.

Next, the No. 2 national seed Florida Gators fell 5-2 on Saturday to North Carolina.

What the Florida loss means for the Miami Hurricanes: If the Canes win their regional at Alex Rodriguez Park, they will be one of eight teams around the country to host the next round of the NCAA tournament -- the super regionals. If Florida and Miami both ended up winning their regionals, Miami would have had to go to Gainesville for the super regional.

However, the Canes, who beat Bethune-Cookman 1-0 Friday night, are losing 2-0 to Texas Tech heading to the bottom of the third.

Until we win our Region, these are not feel good stories. TT is not going to give us anything; BC can win this region and has better pitching than the "U".

Where are all the Turd Trolls now?????......Crickets!!!

4>0

FSU, Florida and Miami ALL SUCK !!!

1 run two games??wow!!

WHAT IS MORRIS DOING !!! We get the tying run to the plate with 1 out in the 9th and Morris brings in a 5-7 140 lb. pinch hitter ! ? We have Sebastian Diaz who I've seen jack 400ft. BOMBS and at least 2 or 3 other guys on the bench that could pinch hit and at least have a CHANCE to Jack one out to tie the game ! WILLIE ABREU perhaps who could drop one ontop of the parking garage perhaps Coach Clappy/Sleepy eyes ?

Well, there we go again. To the losers bracket at home in a Regional. 1 run in 18 innings and first time shutout in a Regional in nearly 20 years. This has not just become an exception for Canes Baseball, it's become the norm. Sure many of you will say we won 27-30, but of those 30 games, only 6 of them were against barely ranked teams. We started out 13-12 and are now 2-4 in 2 Tourneys. We are what we are. Going through the motions and a mediocre team with a below average coach that has mailed it in the last 8 years.

Yet again, in FULL control to advance to Omaha and the bottom line is the Head of the program has us playing catchup from behind yet again. UNACCEPTABLE !!!

UM coach Jim Morris (Note that he says freshman right fielder Willie Abreu will likely sit out Saturday night's game with a hamstring pull.)

Morris on play of Abreu:

Well he’s just struggling. He’s got a hamstring pull and its bothering him to play a little right now and I think he probably needs to rest and get well because he’s been a great player all his life. He’s a USA Baseball guy that’s played in every level, at the top of the level. He was drafted and turned down a lot of money to come to school. He’s just struggling a little bit which is reflected by the fact that he’s still bothered by that pulled hamstring. I’ll probably give him the day off tomorrow too.

"He’s got a hamstring pull and its bothering him to play a little right now"

"A LITTLE" huh Coach ? What, are you going to save him for Summer/Fall/Winter Ball now? Ice it up, give him a handful of tylenol, tell'm to SUCK it up and DH him !!! Hopefully, you have A LITTLE time left as Head Coach of this once NATIONAL POWER Baseball Program which is now nothing more than a middle of the road, barely ranked squad.

JESUS ! We have 3-4 pitchers that will get drafted and are studs. I ASSURE all of you THE WIZARD Ron Frazier would be able to scratch out and put up 5-6 runs a game on average for them EVERY GAME. Not just sitting back, going through the motions playing typical station to station vanilla Morris, YYYYAAAAAAAAAAAWWWWNNNN Ball.

1 run, 18 innings. FU@K THAT !!!

Also, WHO CARES ABOUT SORRY FSU and the TURDS !!!

We need to FIX this Program and stop accepting the continued mediocrity it's producing.

And to those of you that will chime in with, "it's ok, we will beat Bethune and have a chance to get Texas Tech twice." Screw that. We should be sitting in the Drivers Seat chilling resting up instead of pouring gas on our pitching staff burning it to cinders.

THIS IS ON MORRIS ! It's his job to get them ready and get it DONE !!!

954, this is not OK. To think we have one unearned run in 2 complete games is pathetic. This program hasn't competed like the good years for too long. Not much for a canes fan to cheer about these days. The only decent coach UM has is Laranaga. Just a wasted opportunity for a super at home. Unless of course they learn to score runs.

Mediocrity prevails and it's deja vu all over again. So, three wins in a row does it, right? Right. It will be a long time before a UM team sees Omaha again, for the obvious reasons. The opportunity that was presented this today was a big gift left on the table.

Morris Sucks!! We have not been able to hit in 5 years. Do we have a hitting coach that can teach these guys anything? Another season ending in disappointment. How much more of Morris do we need to accept before a change is finally made with this program? He is letting this program fail every year. The bad news is we will be worse next season because our entire starting rotation is going in the major league draft this year.

I can just picture Morris' pregame speeches the last 8 years being just like in the Wizard of Oz's yellow brick road leading to the opium poppy flower scene heading to the Castle in the Land of Oz.

Holy Crap that's a scary thought, but so true.

LOL ! Pay no attention to that dullard dolt in the 3rd. base coaching box. Listening to Morris speak should be a manditory prescription for methheads in rehab going through detox to put them in a coma. There's no sense of urgencey or fire with this team and it starts at the top with "Droopy The Dog" Morris.

Hopefully we can atleast get to play Texas Tech again tonight, but this squads body language mirrors that of it's leader. We'll need both starters to go deep just to even have a shot at a chance for a Monday night 3rd. game in 2 hours. Hell, let's get the BC win today then pray for rain and beat TT on Monday, then pray for rain and finish up on Tuesday with fresh arms. Hey, a Cane can dream can't he?

Just can't believe, well actually I can after what I've seen the last 6 years, that with EVERYTHING set up perfectly for us that we spit the bit to be in total control and command to get back to Omaha.

1 stinkin run in two games is a disgrace. I promise, if every player other than Collins n Thompson would ALL just bunt for base hits everytime up, we'd get basehits, stolen bases, committed opponent errors throwing it all over the field and atleast 5 runs. I'm dead serious. Frazier, back in the day would bunt up to 10 times or more in games starting the runners and would blow other teams minds and score 8-10 runs with hardly ever getting the ball out of the infield. He'd let his 2 or 3 boppers rake, and all the other jack rabbits smallballing like pests.

Oh well, those we're the good ol days when we'd Pitch, Hit, hit for power, Run and play Defense. Not just 1 or 2 of the 5 aspects of the game like these days if we're lucky.

Some of you posters are a joke. If we'd have won last night 1-0, like the night before, you wouldn't be saying jack. This is BASEBALL, and EVERY team has their 1-0, or 3-0 games, it happens.

You come across a pitcher who is stellar, and we HAVE two nights in a row. Our backs are against the wall now, but during the season we've streaked with 7 wins, and 6 wins, and again 7 wins in a row, sprinkled with a few 4 wins in a row. This is not out of our realm.

Let's knock off BC AGAIN guys, and get back at TT. GO CANES!!!!

Cola cane- This team supposedly has a bunch of "great hitters" at least that was why they were recruited. BUt hitting or lack thereof has been this teams problem for yrs as well as errors. THAT IS ON MORRIS. PERIOD.

MORRIS HAS RODE HIS LAST MEDIOCRE SEASON. I SAY LET HIM FINISH HIS CONTRACT OUT OF RESPECVT AND BEGIN LOOKING FOR A NEW COACH. LIKE MARTIN =AT FSU, HE IS A HAS BEEN. OLD, STALE, BAD RECRUITER. BAD GAME TIME COACH. YOU SEE OTHER TEAMS PUTT8ING UP 18 RUMS, 11 RUNS, ETC. BUT OUR LAST TWO GAMES 1-0, 0-3? THATS PATHETIC

Wow, everything was set for an easy Regional, but watching Morris coach is like watching corn grow, or paint dry, it's really becoming intolerable. The Canes have a very good team, and they are playing as a team except for the head coach, When you are in that position in the 9th inning, you pinch hit with the best you have. I really hope Blake James does not extend Morris' contract, I would really like to see what Gino could do as the Head Man, he's younger, brighter and he is a Cane. I do hope Morris gets his head out of his butt for the rest of the regional, I do not want to end up like fsu and uf. Go Canes!!!

First. It's absolutely SAFE to say that Miami was looking AHEAD to hosting a SUPER-REGIONAL. Especially after Jimbo and his staff and the Cane players heard that in-state nemesis Florida were eliminated.

Second. When a team in any NCAA sports LOOKS AHEAD. Instead of taking care of business and what not. Especially when said team has the LUXURY of playing at HOME and sleeping and lounging in their OWN dwellings. That team ( Miami, Florida ) will surely get BYTCHED SLAPPED out of a major NCAA Tournament.

FWIW... I DIDN'T see-R my Hurricanes moving on to the Super-Regional's. I even stated this prior to Florida being eliminated.
And the simple reason is because Jimbo's squad HASN'T hit the ball in FIVE games prior to hosting a NCAA sub-regional.
Oh, the Canes were LUCKY to beat TINY Duke in the ACC Tournament. Then, there was the fortunate victory against mighty Bethune-Cookman.
In other words, the Hurricanes are playing BELOW-AVERAGE at the WRONG TIME of the season. Ouch! Nothing more, nothing less.

@ Cola Cane de MORON of a GOON. Thanks very much for darkly shinning down your Bad Karma on my Canes diamond Nine!

Because once cola cane and his fairweather MINIONS started yapping about Miami going to Omaha. And Miami hosting two Regionals. A Miami playing for the CWS championships. The Hurricanes mysteriously started playing like an AVERAGE ACC baseball team!!

AGAIN Flava Flav chiming in and AGAIN not making sense or telling the TRUTH for that matter. As I told you the other day, talk about me all you want, but at least tell the TRUTH. I NEVER once EVER said Miami (WAS) going to Omaha. ALL my posts are (one game at a time Canes, or let's get on a roll) type posts. That's how INGENUINE you are IDIOT. By the way dumb ass you don't win 21 of 23 and be an AVERAGE team. GO back to your little hole you crawled out of.

COLLEGE OF CHARLESTON SCORED AGAIN!!

Can we all agree right here that the university of Florida was the most overrated and under-achieving college in the 3 major sports this year??

Football:
#9 ranking after week 2.
Loses to Miami then all down hill from there with a grand total of 4 wins.

Basketball:
#1 seed going into the Tourney.
Failed to make the championship game.

Baseball:
Loses the weekend series vs Miami.
#2 national seed going into the regionals.
Can't even win a game in their own regional and are ousted.

Even after all this, the azzzhole will reappear and, once again, embarrass himself.

Canes up 5-0, if we can close this out and hang on, then hello TT again. Weather permitting, we're looking good. GO CANES!!!!!

Big Zack another dinger, up 10-0 and looking strong.

Great game guys great game, now get some rest because it aint over. We got TT tonight and it's a MUST win, sayt fired up, and stay focused and play like you did this afternoon with a do or die attitude. GO CANES!!!!!!

Well, the Hurricane bats finally WOKE UP and what not. And it's about bloody time. hUh Because before todays game, the Hurricanes had DEAD BATS in their last EIGHT games. Which led to a 4-4 record in those previous games.
Nonetheless, mighty Texas Tech won't give Miami anything and possibly could SWEEP Jimbo's Diamond Nine. DuH

Oh, that GOON cola cane is one DISINGENUOUS and what not. Because that Boor c-c most certainly did say Miami would play in BEAUTIFUL downtown Omaha. hUh

Riiiiiiiiiiiiight Flava riiiiiiiiight, whatever you say man.

Moving on y'all GOONS nd' RUNTS ( That be that cola cane. ). Phil Steele has Beamer Ball rated NO. 29 in his preseason poll and what not. Matter of fact, Mr. Steele TOUTS Virginia Tech playing in the ACC championship game.

FWIW... I SEE-r Goldie nd' Marky Mark's squad losing to Beamer Ball in Blacksburg. Ouch. In other words, Beamer is by far the absolute OVERALL head coach and what not.

Oh, since joining the ACC from the Big East, the Hokies have been the most DOMINATING program and surpass the Hurricanes in football matters.

The last time Miami, Florida had a SIGNIFICANT victory over Beamer Ball ( VaTech: Ranked NO. 3 going into that crucial conference game. ) was back in 2005. The Hurricanes were a - 5 1/2 point road Dog and handily defeated the Hokies by DOUBLE-DIGITS. I believe the score was around a 24-7 Cane victory.

Yeah well this is the BASEBALL blog Flava, and VT can't even sniff the Regionals, so since you're so hot on VT, how bout hoppin your happy ass over to their blogs, and talk your meaningless nonsense over there
in mountain land where you belong.

Damnit we should've scored with 2 on, and then the benches cleared, lol. Well at least we still have some fire in our ass's. Come on Canes I know it's been a long day, but let's get those bats humming.

We beat them in 2012. If you define significant as national championship chances on the line, then when is the last time they had a SIGNIFICANT victory over the Canes? Both have been average. Difference being, VT has only one win over a top 5 team EVER, so average is their limit.
