Hurricanes land commitment from one of the country's top 2016 quarterbacks

The Hurricanes picked up a commitment from one of the nation's top-rated quarterbacks Monday night. But they've got wait another two years before he can suit up for them.

Jack Allison, a 6-5, 200-pound pro-style passer from Palmetto, Fla., pledged his commitment to UM on Twitter Monday night, two days after attending a football camp at UM.

Allison is considered the top quarterback prospect in the state in the 2016 class -- ninth overall among pro-style passers according to 247Sports. He had offers from Alabama, Missouri, South Florida, Tennessee, and UCF.

Allison finished his sophomore season throwing for 1,778 yards, 15 touchdowns and seven interceptions and led his team to the state playoffs.

The Hurricanes also picked up a commitment from 2016 linebacker Michael Pinckney (6-1, 215) of Jacksonville Raines over the weekend.

Miami has 13 commitments as part of the 2015 class including one quarterback -- Tampa Hillsborough's Dwayne Lawson.

Here is a link to Allison's highlights.

Welcome to the U

Great get, now if we can just get some elite defensive help up front.

Welcome to the U...

Great get...

It's June 2014 and signing day is Feb. 2016 and already u dUmb clUcks have this kids on the roster, ahead of Kaaya and a Heisman finalist.

just a matter of time before he decommits.

Oh and Alabama DID NOT, nor will they like ALL Top SEC Schools offer this stationary bean pole.

Me thinks Tyrone Gray or Dallas Crawford should be starting QB. If you don't have a QB than put your best athlete out there and watch them do their thang, ala Auburn last year.

Gators = Laughing stock of CFB. Who replaces Muschump after next seasons epic fail? How many teeth was he required to remove before taking the UFraid job and does he get them back once hes fired?

UFrauds are pathetic. Trolling here while your scrub squad lost at home to a D1AA school.

4-8. New 30+ yr low for the State. Enjoy!

Vegas odds on his decommit date? 12/15

You have nothing.

You are nothing.

These "commits" for 2015, 2016 is a joke. There has to be a limit to this circus. The word of these kids means nothing. of course they should have the right to look at as many opportunities. Never should limit that. But that whole "verbal commit" garbage is that. An OL prospect from NJ who had verbally committed to Um now has decommitted and verbally committed to Oh State. Thats ridiculous. he only two possible ways that happens is :

1) the kid was not serious about miami
2) urban Meyer bad mouthed Miami to the kid

Verbal commit periods should be limited and at one point the kid's word (and their family's) should be held accountable in some way, bc schools spend an inordinate amount of time and effort recruiting and travelling. These kids wont learn that later in life, if you "commit" to something and back out there could be consequences.

If a kid is undecided let him be undecided till the very end. I have no problem with that.

If I were coaching at UM we would join the SEC… finish 4-8… and still say we're the best in the state!

In all, the ACC has eight players on the Athlon first team, tied with the Pac-12 for the most in the country. Overall, 27 ACC players are listed on the Athlon All-America first-, second-, third- and fourth-teams -- more than any other league.

S.E.C

Suck Every Cok

Yeah I agree about these kids who 'commit' a couple yrs ahead of time, I mean why even say it? These kids change their minds over and over and over again, they get smitten with a taste of a college coach salivating over them, and they say 'wow this is cool, I'm going to this school', and then when recruiting actually gets closer to that particular yr, and other schools start calling, they fall into the 'man everybody wants me' trap. So anytime someone 'commits' this early in the game, there is no point in getting hopes up.

How is it that the "Hurricanes continue to land commitments from some of the country's top players" yet we're still unranked and not favorites to contend for ACC Championships much less the National Championships ?

What's missing ?

Welcome to the U.

Canes are excited, but more than that the potential is there to be a top QB, and move to the next level.

Jack there will be a lot of pulling and tugging at you to change your decision......let it go, and use the opportunity to show the U, and the recruits that contact you will recognize your desire and commitment to your Choice to become a Hurricane..

Talk to guys like Duke and get the commitment solidified so that when you are on the field, it is all business...

Good luck, study hard, and honor your friends, family, and teammates as a "Super Cane".
Go 'Canes

Add another one...ILB from Oak Leaf!!

These early commitments are silly. How many people really believe that either one of these future commits is really solid. I know I don't, especially when kids pledge right after attending a football camp. I'm sure the QB loved Golden and his camp, but what happens when he goes to UF"s or FSU's or Bama's camp. Don't hold your breath on any early commits.

haha the people that follow this blog make it one of the worst even though Manny gives us good stuff. Can't you guys enjoy anything? Sure I'm aware that most of the people complaining above are actually one sad person with multiple screennames in his basement. I don't know why he's so obsessed with a team he doesn't like but whatever.

Agree with Jax, let's enjoy the great recruiting news!
Another top QB chooses the U! Right in the coattails of Olsen, Kaaya and Rosier. Soon we will have 3 or more Heisman candidate QBs on our roster. We should try to land a 2015 top QB as well, you can never have too many of those. If anything, The Great Golden has proven he can bring in top rated offensive players that come in with great promise and leave undrafted.
We will be back in 2016, book it.

This is great news but lets get real. As Cane fans we are fully aware that if the "U" finishes their season in 14 like they have over the last 5-7 years many of those recruits will bail. The "U" has to finish the season strong, win the Coastal Division and play well in a major bowl. Until this happens recruits will continue to go to other programs on National signing day. Go Canes.

I just can't get over this great news guys. Think about it we are back to being QB U. We got a top rated QB in the 2013 cycle in Olsen. For 2014 we got Kaaya and Rosier. Now we got Allison for 2016. All we need is another top rated QB for the 2015 cycle. All these QBs in the fold. How will The Great Golden know who to start.
What a great "problem" to have.
NC in 2016!
Heisman QBs in 2014 and 2016 for sure and maybe in 2015 too!

delUsionalcane tries to downplay the recruiting of Olsen, Kaaya, and Rosier because they have yet to throw one touchdown for the Canes. Pretty troll like to use such sarcasm against FRESHMEN. Just because UF's 5 star QB couldn't beat the Canes doesn't mean you have to be bitter.

I don't mind delusional cane. I get that he is making fun of those of you who get "excited" about a 2016 kid who commits before the 2014 season kicks off. In fact I agree with him that this "news" is lame at best. Lots of football to be played before 2016 NSD, that "commitment" means squat. It is true that Olsen was a 2013 highly rated recruit, and it is true we just signed a journey man because we don't trust Olsen to be the guy right now. So forgive me if this "news" is anticlimactic at best.
Who the heck is going to be our starter this fall?
Olsen is a redshirt freshman, why is he not ready?
It is unfair to count on Kaaya or Rosier right now, they should redshirt and be ready next year.
I know we were counting on Williams to be our guy but injuries happen and someone has to step up.
Olsen or Heaps is what we got right now, don't talk to me about 2016, it is 2014. We need to win now.

"Olsen is a redshirt freshman, why is he not ready?"
miramarcane

Most seem confused on this issue since Jameis and Manziel. Besides those two freakishly talented QB's, most redshirt freshmen are......get this....FRESHMEN! Olsen has never played in a real game! Nobody is saying he won't be successful in the future or even this season however, it's just smart to get all the experience you can get in. How many redshirt freshmen are lighting the world on fire? Not many. Unless he's a freak like Jameis, the goal is usually not to start a redshirt freshman and we wouldn't even be talking about that if our QB didn't tear his ACL.

I pledged to commit to a girl I met at summer camp. It didn't work out too well.

Better not count your chicks before they hatch dude.

I am surprised this #1 sec guy hasn't been bragging about the ladies bowling team that just won. LMAO! When your team goes 4-8 you gotta be proud of something.

These EARLY morning verbals are bloody well Much Ado Bout' Nothing. hUh And the only time it matters is when said prep recruit bloody SIGNS a LOI. dUh

FWIW... y'all's Hurricanes have taken ANOTHER bumbling, fumbling TUMBLE in the latest ESPN team rankings. Ouch. Goldie's Miami team is now NO. 14 in the Top 25 class rankings.

Yeah, yeah it's still too early to interpret what type of incoming HS class Miami will have next spring. Nonetheless, the Hurricanes absolutely better sign more than a HAND FULL of FIVE-STAR star's. Because these 3-Star signings are becoming BOGUS and whatnot.

Now, on the other Green nd' Orange hand. Coach Davis and his staff had the EYE for signing THREE-STAR prep players. And both Goldie nd' Marky Mark DON'T!

Yeah, yeah, yeah... I understand Mr. Randy Shannon and the diminutive CON DUDE is to blame for Miami's questionable signing classes the past three seasons. dUh

don't worry, no chicks "hatch" for that sec guy, he has been kicked off the farm for peeping in the henhouse.

How many of you so-called fans actually played FOOTBALL??? A lot of talk from arm-chair qb's.

Helluva post dude!
Welcome Jack. Unfortunately, you'll have to wade through troll posts, as UM is one of the most envied college in the country. Academics and athletics. Good character people, unlike those teens who continue to troll here.

Having the good sense to chose UM, we know you will ignore the few dopes who post nonsense here.
CANES!!!!

I think Miami needs to stop offering early scholarships to players especially under the radar players from out of state many of whom can easily turn to "flakes" when another power house program starts showing some interest. And of late, Miami has been used a stepping stone that open up many of these prospects recruiting efforts. Powell to Florida, Nigel Bethel to Texas Tech, and now this dude to Ohio State, and rumor is swirling that the RB from Orlando is wavering. So to Miami, for whatever reason, you guys may want to limit early commitments for reputational purposes and attempt to clean-up later in the recruiting process.

Olsen isn't ready because of things like even when scrub time was available last year Williams was getting most of it. Just wait till Kehoe has the OL pushing 5/6 yard avg against anybody. last year agains UF best healthy Dfense and Noles we were close around 4 a carry. improve that and all else falls in place.

Colin Thompson couldn't stand the stench anymore.

If we re-calculate recruiting classes after all the Gatr Trash transfers and injuries, they wouldn't break the top 25.

Ain't that right, blog PIG? ARty? Soldy? Pig Fat?

WWAHHHHHHHHHHHHH. Sob! Sob! Wahhhhhh.

OK University Of Miami Hurricanes Fans, here's the deal ... U Won, made the plays, deserved to Win, are the better team and have been the better program over a 30 year period. The Florida Gators got hit right in their moufs. That may just be an opinion, but that's what the results on the playing field states. No excuses. We Gators n Canes have been going at it since the Summer of '08 on these blogs and it's been full insults ahead for over 1,800 straight days. It's been a constant back n forth of, U said, Gator said... Gator said, U said. U Suck, Gators Suck. Has it been interesting ? At times sure. Has it been ugly ? Mostly. Has it meant a damn thing on the field ? No. Now back in that Summer of '08 the Gators will say U came to their blog spouting pollution. And U will say that the Gators came to Ur blog doing the same thing. Ultimately and ending cycle of mostly senseless ridiculousness that just went round n round in a circle of insults and foolishness didn't mean a thing. So, having said that, It's over. I'm not asking for a truce, just saying it's over by virtue of the fact that our Football rivalry is no more. It's just in the past. Now U can say why U think it's over. And Ur entitled to that opinion. The Gators will have their reasons, and they are entitled to that opinion. Bottom line is this... Right now, Miami Football... Florida Football ... Florida State Football Programs are not "Back" Yet. But they are ALL rising. No debate that they are 3 of the Best Top to Bottom College Football Programs College Football has EVER seen and easily Top-5-10 over the last 20-30 years combined. Simply put, when the State of Florida BIG-3 are ALL doing well, College Football is far better as a result. It's a State of Florida thing that the other 49 States, as well as the World simply wouldn't understand, could never understand, will never get and certainly will never fathom.

Now I'm not here to call for some kind of truce. I think we all know, in totality, that's an impossibility. And really, I don't really think we need one. We as fans are passionate. Some more fanatical than others. But from this point forward I hope we can just be more civil to one another as Miamian-Hurricanian / Gainesvillian-Reptilian - Floridian Americans. I will. I also sincerely want to apologize for some of my disrespectful comments in the past Cane fans. But in my own defense, I must say that far more of my "nasty" and "hateful" posts were others impersonating me. And trying to explain that, during those times, was simply useless. As for the other Gators that post here, I ask you to drop n bury the axe. It's been too long, the winding road has run it's course. The Gator n Cane points and counter points are just moot now... Time to move on. The Canes have their destiny and the Gators have theirs. God willing, for the sake of College Football, they will meet again someday in the foreseeable future in the Post-Season. Which could only mean one thing... We Both Don't SUCK !

In closing, I think we Gators n Canes can certainly agree on one thing. There are ups n downs, trials n tribulations, ebbs n flows for every Program in College in all Sports as well as life... I do believe it's safe to say that The Miami Hurricane and Florida Gator Football Programs are both ascending no matter how we might personally feel about the past... Win or Lose, Victory or Defeat, Saturday September 7th from High Noon until the final gun was as compelling as College Football gets or ever gets (minus of course that Driskel left-handed pass with 8 seconds to go). Much respect to U and Urs ...

Good luck Cane Fans... Go get Ur Coastal and ACC Championship. When U do, the rest will fall into place...

Gators ... ditto ... Eastern ... SEC ... ???

See U down the line Mighty CANE FANS ... perhaps in Basketball or Baseball ... SALUTE.

No Mas from me.

Sincerely,

A Miami born GATOR/CANE ... 9-11-13

No UF has formed a fan advisory committee. Who asks fans for help? Most are uneducated and don't even have jobs.Has Will Muschamplost his mind asking for help? It makes him look weaker than 4-8. Something has to be done or this trend will continue. Sounds like a desperation move. Do the fans a tually know more about football than a 4 million$ a year supossed head coach?

I just read this article, today. I thought it was just about the sophomore high school quarterback committing. I did not know, since locally there is no mention of anything positive about the University of Miami. That a player committed from my alma mater, Jacksonville, FL, William Marion Raines High School. The program was one of the greatest producers of football talent in the entire nation. This kid has a huge legacy to continue.

Let us see if the season can get enough wins so Michael Pinckney can have a top notch coach when he comes to the University of Miami. Since Al Golden was not a good enough coach to get the PSU job. Even though he tried with all his being to do that.

If he can let his more superior talented team, over all but a couple of teams on the schedule. Not lose several times, like he has every year, to lesser talented teams. Then he can jump ship like he tried so hard to do to PSU. Because everyone knows that Al Golden has never defeated a more talented and better coached team. But he has always loss, several times per season, to lesser talented and better coached teams.
