Safety Rayshawn Jenkins to have season-ending back surgery Monday; QB Kaaya runs with first team.

Safety Rayshawn Jenkins, who started 12 games last season and had 46 tackles, three interceptions and five pass breakups for the Hurricanes, will have season-ending back surgery on Monday, a source has told The Miami Herald.

Jenkins first posted the news late Wednesday night on his Facebook page: “Will not be playing this season but I wish my boys the best. I would do anything to be out there with them but everything happens for a reason.#MinorSetBackMajorComeBack”

The source said Jenkins injured his back lifting weights and was trying to play through the pain. Jenkins last practiced on Monday. The recovery following surgery is expected to take at least six months, the source said.

"That hurt. That hurt us big time," senior safety Dallas Crawford said. "But he's still going to be out here coaching us. He has a lot of game experience. So he can still help the team in a lot of ways. But we need him."

FRESHMAN KAAYA TAKES FIRST TEAM REPS; PLAYERS TALK QB BATTLE

In Thursday's morning practice at Greentree Field -- one day after the first scrimmage -- quarterback Brad Kaaya went with the first team and Jake Heaps went with the second team. We were told that the first depth chart will be released later today. It is neck-and-neck for the starting quarterback spot between freshman Kaaya and graduate transfer Heaps.

"I feel like I did a good job of running the operation and completing passes but I think the biggest thing is continuing to get better, continuing to work on the overall operation and feeling comfortable with everything,'' Heaps said after practice. "At this point after yesterday and today’s practice this morning feeling good about where I’m at and the progress that I’ve made and now over the next few days this is really going to be a big push so we all need to get better as a team.

When told coaches would narrow the race to two frontrunners, Heaps said, "I’m not worried about that. I’m just going out there and focusing on me and every rep that I get and trying to make it count. What coach decides, what he ends up deciding, that’s out of my hands. All I can do is just go out there and execute the best I can."

Dallas Crawford told us Kaaya threw the pass that he picked off and he returned 50 yards for a touchdown in the scrimmage. He said Heaps threw the other interception.

Here's what Crawford said about Kaaya: “He goes through his progressions very well. He doesn’t panic. He has really good feet in the pocket. He doesn’t force anything. I joke with him all the time, I think he’s a junior college transfer or something. He doesn’t act like a freshman. Just the way he carries himself and calls the audibles at the line. He looked really good yesterday.”

Crawford on Heaps: “Jake’s a leader. As soon as he stepped foot on campus, he’s been leading. He takes command of the offense as well. He looked good yesterday too. It’s a battle. They’re both going at it. They looked good yesterday.”

> Hurricanes RB Duke Johnson said he did not experience any soreness after Wednesday's scrimmage on his surgically repaired right ankle: "Everything was fine. Got in the ice tub. Woke up today feeling better than yesterday.''

Duke also said Brad Kaaya reads defenses "exceptionally well for a freshman,'' but that Jake Heaps is better in that regard. “His checks, his reads, everything is a lot faster and quicker than Brad’s.”

What does receiver Stacy Coley think of the quarterback competition?

"Everybody has their different skill set," Coley said. "Brad is really smart. Brad can just pick out the zones, coverages being run. He picks it up real quick. He's very calm. Since Day 1, he as really calm. He just got in his playbook and was ready to go.

"Jake's just a good motivator. All the quarterbacks are smart. He has a great deep ball, throws great slant routes. It's a good spiral. It comes at you fast. You can catch it on the run and keep going."

Linebacker Denzel Perryman gave us his take, too. What does Kaaya do well in Perryman's eyes? "He's great under pressure man," Perryman said. "I can't rattle that guy for nothing at all. I think nobody can."

What does Perryman like about Heaps? "The fact he's really short -- he's like my height -- and he can still get the job done. He's another one that can't be rattled."

> The players wearing first-team black this morning: DE Trent Harris, DL Anthony Chickillo, S Dallas Crawford, Lb Thurston Armbrister, weakside linebacker Nantambu-Akil Fentress (for the first time), LB Denzel Perryman, LB Raphael Kirby and CB Ladarius Gunter.

> The players wearing first-team orange this morning: G Hunter Wells, G Danny Isidora, TE Standish Dobard, TE Clive Walford, RB Joe Yearby, WR Phillip Dorsett, RB Duke Johnson, T Ereck Flowers, C Shane McDermott, T Trevor Darling and FB Ronnie Regula

> What does Duke Johnson think of freshman RB Joseph Yearby wearing an orange jersey: "It says he's working hard. He came in ready to learn, ready to listen. He was ready to be ready. He came with a mindset that stuff in high school don't matter. I need these guys as much as they need me. Me and Gus Edwards have to teach him everything we know so he can come out here and be effective.

What's Yearby's next step? "Stay consistent," Johnson said. "That's the hardest thing for a freshman to do because that's something you're not used. You're not used to being out here all the long days, coming back for two-a-days. If he can be consistent he'll be fine."

> Crawford forced a fumble by receiver Tyre Brady with a big hit in Wednesday's scrimmage. "I guess he ran a post and he was on the goalline and I hit him and he fumbled," Crawford said. "That's pretty much it. I usually don't think, I just react to the play."

> Crawford on Fentress, who is playing outside linebacker and a rover safety position: "We need him to be a big contributor. I don't know if anybody on the defensive side plays as fast he does. He runs from sideline to sideline. He's smart. He gives great effort and he's always where he needs to be. So, I mean, we're going to need to him big time this year."

> UM will be back this afternoon for another practice session.

Let this vastly talented team get this season started. Since preseason practices are winding down. And anyone that sees any of these players, let them know that this can be a special season.

and he ( Thee Onion Head ) still screwed it up. I hope that answers your question.

Posted by: championships is all that matters | August 13, 2014 at 08:49 PM

Nah... what's screwed up is your SUBTLE RACIST agenda! Nothing more, nothing less.

Oh. I recall that " championship iatm " criticizing Onion Head FIFTY TIMES harder than his beloved Goldie nd' Tonto Marky Mark. Go figure.

Clemson has an atrocious defense many, many, many, many, many injun moons ago. And what does Tiger football do. Those in Power go out and HIRE a competent defensive coordinator. Go figure.

Now why couldn't the University of Miami, Florida Hurricanes do the same fuggin' thing after the 2011 SEASON. smh

Courtesy of FoxSports college football. Top 10 defensive coordinators whom should be head coaches.

No. 7: Bud Foster, Virginia Tech Hokies

regarded as one of the football's top assistants, Foster just keeps building nasty defenses. Last season, the Hokies were No. 4 in the nation in total defense. Will this be the year he finally gets his shot at a good head coaching job? There do figure to be a few good vacancies in that part of the country.

No. 4: Brent Venables, Clemson Tigers

A high-energy guy who had a lot of success at Oklahoma and also is known as one of the country's top recruiters, the 43-year-old Venables has fixed what had been a dreadful Tiger defense. Last season, Clemson ranked No. 24 in the nation and led the country in TFLs by a pretty large margin with 123. The year before he arrived, Clemson was 71st in total D and 65th in TFLs. This season, they figure to be even tougher on D. Foxsports.com

But what about Miami's D'Onofrio. Why wasn't he mentioned a potential head coaching hire. He's been a defensive coordinator for EIGHT SEASONS now. hUh

Oh. I understand now. Miami DIDN'T have enough BIG BUCKS to pay for a new defensive coordinator at the end of the '11 season.

My bad!

Nothing says "a winner" like alfraud's 49-49 record!!

Or his "signiture" win vs 4-8 florida team!!!

Or his losses to 2,3,4 win teams. He has more losses to those teams than he does wins agains 2,3,4 loss teams.

Bottom line, the admin, specifically Hocutt had a chance to hire a PROVEN winner when they hired the fraud and the Mac .500. They passed on Leech, Sumlin, and Tuberville.

Posted by: Nash | August 13, 2014 at 11:42 PM

Mighty Maryland: 2-10

College football powerhouse Boston College: 4-8

Virginia: 4-8

What do these ACC squads have in common. Besides their losing records in 2011 and 2012.

Well they respectively defeated the beloved Golden and Tonto D'Onofrio's Cane teams. Go figure.

And speaking of passing the buck by the University Powers That Be. Missouri's Coach Pinkell-sp. would have been a 2ND-TIER hire in STARK contrast to the FOURTH-TIER hiring of Albert Golden. Huh.

By the way, Mr. Pinkell has a WINNING career head coaching record, i.e., Toledo and Missouri. Ouch.

Just imagine this a moment Golden and Tonto D'Onofrio lackeys.

If Miami doesn't lose to those conference teams which ended the season with losing records.

Then the beloved Goldie would have a 52-49 career head coaching record and the Golden Boy faction would have legitimate arguments about their guy. hUh

But that's all moot now. Or is that... it's all water under the bridge now. dUh

It will be a special season only IF Golden and D'Onofrio's squad defeats Coach Petrino and the mighty Cardinal.

?? IF ?? Miami does defeat point spread favorite Louisville. Then it's possible for the Canes to go undefeated in September.

@ Louisville

@ Nebraska

DUKE

The above listed teams will be very, very, very difficult games for the Hurricanes.

Yes. Even the Blue Devils. Especially since Miami will be coming off a TOUGH road game.

Christy Chirinos ‏@ChristyChirinos 43s

As @Manny_Navarro, @mattyports were just discussing...Kaaya is handling the pressure here. He's calm, poised.

Golden has the luxury of having two starters at QB now.

However, it begs the question. Will the Golden Boy stay with Heaps the entire season. Even if the Canes have three losses entering November.

Or will he hand over the reigns to Kaaya sometime in October and get him ready for the future. Especially if Golden and D'Onofrio's team goes " 3-2 " in September. Ouch.

Duke just lost their best defensive player in All-ACC LB Kolby Brown for the season. ACL tear.

we just need good QB play to step up, as we have the weapons

Christy Chirinos ‏@ChristyChirinos 1m

Perryman on Kaaya: "I can't rattle that guy for nothing. He's great under pressure." Goes on to say same about Heaps.

"The first two weeks, what I see from Brad is his maturity," Duke Johnson said. "You wouldn't think that Brad is a freshman quarterback, the way he talks, the way he handles the offense, the way he handles the plays, checks. He's able to read defenses. He doesn't do it as well as an older guy like Jake [Heaps], but he does it exceptionally well for a freshman." hurricanesports.com

TheeMackJones,

This is a different team and more prepared coaching staff this year. In my opinion, the following are:

Louisville will enter the game with a lot of confidence and hype, but no substance. Teddy and the former HC were the difference. Petrino had some subtle success, to include games against the U, but never had the total talent depth to become an elite program. Close game, but U wins 24-20!

Nebraska mirrors the U from a historical football power, which presented annually with NFL ready players. Bo knows defense, but does not have the same talent Tom Osborne brought to Lincoln each season. Nebraska still cannot throw the football! Blowout in Lincoln: U 34-10.

Duke was exposed in the ACC and bowl games. Defense! Offensive scheme does not move the ball against an elite and aggressive defensive unit (FSU). Texas AM attacked Dukes weakness...no defense period. Duke comes out hot, but talent level, and size wears them down in 4th quarter. U 42-21!

One with the tiny brain...Temple showed interest in hiring D'onofrio. So, Mr. One Wheel Stuck in the Sand...he has been "mentioned" as a potential head coaching hire.

Bravo!! Spot on post my friend.

-----------------------------

He sees some comment about Golden improving things here.(the bell)

He infers that someone is attacking his beloved Randy Shannon, even when he doesn't SEE any mention of Shannon, and spends another week railing about the evils of white privilege, welfare, slavery, and a host of other racebaiting comments.(salivation with no food present)

Basically, he is at the trained point that any compliment of Golden, he infers is an insult of Shannon, and then "reads behind the lines" (BTW it is between the lines, but he keeps getting it wrong) to infer that it is an attack on an entire race of people.

See, the difference between a racist fanatic and a non-racist is that the racist fanatic will "infer", twist, and project racism on ANY comment, to the point that if you criticize Mike Tyson for biting off a chunk of Holyfield's ear, or OJ Simpson for killing his ex-wife, or Wesley Snipes for not paying his taxes, you are attacking HIS race, but if you criticize Luis Suarez, Robert Blake, or Willie Nelson, all is well, and in fact he will pile on with the claim that if they were black, they would have been punished worse.

That is how a racist "infers", because he is already viewing everything through the lens of his racism.

CORAL GABLES — Duke Johnson has always had the flash.
A 5-star recruit, the speedy Johnson rushed for 1,957 yards and scored 36 total touchdowns during his senior season at Miami Norland en route to a Class 5A state championship in 2011.
The explosive University of Miami running back/kick returner then posted arguably the greatest freshman season in school history in 2012, before backing that up by averaging 174.1 all-purpose yards a season ago until a fractured ankle at Florida State ended his year prematurely in Week 8.
This season, the healthy, 5-foot-9 Johnson has added yet another dimension to his game: increased strength and power. Johnson, who was listed at 196 pounds a year ago, has added 12 pounds of muscle to his frame.
“He’s doing great,” Miami Coach Al Golden said of the Canes burner. “He’s got an edge about him. He’s got a focus about him that he’s continued since the spring.
“Physical, more durable, a stronger version of Duke Johnson — like 208 pounds … running his fastest 40[-yard dash time] as a Miami Hurricane.”
Johnson has impressed in fall drills alongside fellow running backs Gus Edwards, De’Andre Johnson, Joe Yearby and Trayone Gray.
The UM junior said he feels good and he continues to have that burst to run away from opposing defenders.
“I actually feel that I am faster than I was last year with the extra weight,” Johnson said. “[Strength and conditioning] Coach [Andreu] Swasey and his staff did a great job of helping me put the weight on, but put in on the right way.
“I’m very excited. This could be a season that I’ve been waiting for.”
Johnson played in eight games in 2013, rushing for 920 yards and six touchdowns before the injury. Prior to the FSU game, and Johnson going down, the Hurricanes had rattled off seven consecutive victories to start the season. For his efforts, he was named second-team All-ACC by the league’s coaches.
In 2012, Johnson rushed for a freshman-record 947 yards and 10 TDs. He set the UM single-season record with 892 kick return yards and two more touchdowns. He amassed 2,060 all-purpose yards — the second-most in school history — on the way to being named a second-team All-American by the Walter Camp Foundation and a third-team All-American by CBSSports.com.
Johnson said that his recovery and then summer training went perfectly to plan. “My ankle feels fine. I’m 100 percent,” Johnson said. “I have been cleared for 2 1/2 months now.”
“He is a freak of nature,” sophomore linebacker Walter Tucker said of lining up against Johnson. “He is really good.”
Johnson says his goals are to “stay healthy and help my team any way I can.”
And Golden plans to get Johnson the ball any way he can.
The Canes’ offensive braintrust has put in plays to get Johnson more involved in the passing game in hopes of getting No. 8 in open space more often.
“He’s a different person right now,” Golden said. “He’s stronger, he’s more durable, he’s in great condition. He’s got a lot of guys around him that can help him carry the load.
“The biggest thing is we all want to see him pick up where he left off. He was pressing his runs, they were hitting where they were designed to hit. So, he had great discipline at the end of last year.”
Johnson and the Canes will have the day off Tuesday before holding their first scrimmage Wednesday.
Miami’s season opener is Labor Day night at Louisville in an ESPN 8 o’clock start.

"By the way, Golden and D'Onofrio's squad ONLY received ONE vote. And Carolina Blue and Duke were MUCHO votes ahead of the Canes."

Who cares? We're not competing for the preseason national championship.

I remember telling people back in 1997/98 that when Miami gets back these little teams who have stolen a few wins (WV, ECU, Cuse, Washington, etc.) would pay. And it all came true. I would put out the storm warning out to Louisville, Duke, NCState, UVA, and all those teams who have snuck in a couple wins lately.

Payback time is coming!

Ask Washington what it felt like (65-7); WVU (45-3), Syracuse (59-0).

Payback time is coming!

Never have. That's not what I do. Matter a fact I think preseason rankings can only hurt you from an expectations standpoint. I'd much rather fly under the radar; akin to last season and be 7-0 going into FSU. At the end of the day rankings take care of themselves if you win every week.

BTW, speaking of "yapping your usual...crap"; when are you gonna post something of substance?

Mack, unfortunately, Tampa is another Jacksonville. They both, but Jacksonville started it, do all they can to give life sentences to 12 and 13 year old children.

There is a reason Al Golden is so well respected by these fans in these two cities. He is like a few kids I encountered, when I did junior high in Ann Arbor, MI. They changed the way they acted and spoke, as soon as the few Blacks in the school were around. But, were making fun of them the whole time they were doing it.

The Decepticons:

Megatron = Ron Zook/Blue Skies-- just a gun or weapon that anyone can catch and fire. A mercenary whose posts are to the utmost extreme/zero balance and go to the highest bidder. Narcissist and egomaniac who always feels less than and slighted. Routinely out-smarted and thus will stay in drive-bye/retreat mode. A fascist who deeply believes in man-worship and nepotism.

StarScream = GKC/mountaincane-- same feeling being slighted and inferior, so expect blog drive-byes only. Was checked by Megatronus Prime/86Cane and has since transformed into G"Killer"Cane because it sounds more intimidating. Only appearances matter, wants to be the leader but has no true substance or personality. Will attack free-thinkers and anyone who is secure. Runs to catch Megatron/Zook when he transform into Nothing but Blue Skies, but as usual the guns usually jams which sends them into a verbal quarrel. Posts and voice are extremely annoying. Totally obnoxious.

Soundwave = Mahoney Pearson-- Communication Recorder and Top Excuse Strategist. Speech is strained and solely dictated by whats been recorded from others own thoughts and opinions. A robot who does the bidding of whoever is in the best place to wield power and influence. Function--tape record and regurgitate also known as copy and paste. Rumor is that the "Yup" used to conclude his reports are of his own will and thought and not from his programming system. Thus there's hope that there might be a man and a Cane in there.

Soundwave's microcassettes:

Laserbeak = "HTC this and HTC that" --will swoop down with insults and projections dropping poop posts every morning because the early bird gets the worm. Recording function is apparently malfunctioning because there's obvious flaws in whats being recorded. Too much cawing over the tapes.

Rumble = "holmie"-- posts racist rants now and then just to ruffle feathers, shake things up, and well…because he can. Usually no substance just reconnaissance missions. Was shaken as a baby, just needs a slight loving hug.

Slugfest = "Commander Cane"-- loves a good drive bye insult exchange, but consistently gets knocked out every time. Short T-Rex arms make it difficult to post but a few insults a day.

Buzzsaw = "Championships is all that matters"-- only records the prevailing sentiment (the buzz) and groupthink. Lack of diverse experiences have led to him becoming a starch racist and intolerant poster. Rumor has it that the "saw" in his name stands for: "Shannon aint worthy". Has gone rogue and now has a date with the maintenance repair shop as well.

Overkill = "Dom"-- good hearted but just does way too much. The epitome of homerism. Wash, Rinse, Spin, and repeat.

Ravage = "JaxCane"-- black jaguar micro cassette that relishes his role as the permanent dependent and duped.

Frenzy = "sidcane/Harriet Tubman Gator/jlo/piggy/etc…thus the name "frenzy" can't choose an identity, favorite football team or blog as a frequent participant of Gator Clause where he records info from both blog and disseminates throughout the day. Is programmed exclusively to the trolling detail.

Recognize them before they transform again.

HarrietTubmanCane, I think your post and Bun B's introduction on Sippin', is the image I see as best for the Transforming Apologists.

Errr, doofus? Delusional doofus? Only four small problems with your pie in the sky hope.

1. The NO-line is awful. Stinks. Swinging gate. Sieve. Call it what you want. Chaz Green couldn't block you and you are just a squirrel.

2. No play-making receivers. None.

3. Driskel. Dumb as rocks. He may be able to run a lot but completions? Nahhh. That does not equate to a lot of points.

4. Oh, yeah, the Bama and LSU defenses may have something to say about this. Tennessee too. Even though they have no offense and have been horrible for 10 years, their defense will pound you.

So, in short, you are a loser, jlo. Delusional loser.

Here we go again. Three OBVIOUSLY different people, and jizzo is claiming they are the same person, while posting under different IDs on the Canes blog, projecting as usual.

Wow, ELEVEN whole minutes before you broke THAT promise jizzo. SUICYCO is at least TALKING, instead of starting every communication with "Moron" this and "delusional" that. YOU said that nobody called on Weis and Pease as the rescuer, and forgot that GOOGLE can easily pull example of that up.

You were wrong, cannot admit it, and then call the person that proved you to be a liar a MORON? Outsmarted you, idiot. Now, take your own advice, leave us alone, and things will get better here. You don't seem to want it that way though, DO YOU, jizzo the coward.

Newsflash cane fans, Fowler is going to destroy a lot of offensive linemen this year and make a lot of lines look bad. The guy is an amazing player and the caliber of player you wish you had on your team. It's actually not really surprising news to Gator fans that he's manhandling the line in practice.

Posted by: GatorAlum | August 12, 2014 at 08:44 PM

Wouldn't get too hyped yet....that nOline made Miami's dline look good last year with better players and they were healthy at the time....just sayin'

Posted by: sidcane | August 12, 2014 at 10:49 PM

"It's actually not really surprising news to Gator fans that he's manhandling the line in practice."

Of course it's not surprising. The gatr trash fan knows that the UFilth NO-line is among the worst in the SEC.

Happy times in the central Florida cesspool.

Posted by: Jlo the ferret. | August 13, 2014 at 09:30 AM

Who is this fella that knows so much bout them Gators he be some expert on the O line or somethin. Has an answer for everything you wanna know bout them Gators. Too bad can't tell who's who changing names so often cause I wanna thank him for his great information and chat with him during the season.
The nOline getting abused in practice could be trouble or could be as Alum says that them boys up front are too hot to handle. Guess we gonna find out when them boys scamper up to Tuscaloosa wont we.

Posted by: Skeeter | August 13, 2014 at 10:32 AM

^^^^^^^^^^

Well, you would be right if you there was nothing to gauge the NO-line but we do have a gauge. It's called last year. And last year the NO-line was a sieve. And Jesse has said as much in his posts about the poor NO-line play. SO you have those two points of reference. Nothing has changed so the remark stands until proven otherwise.

OK Mr. Ferret being since you use Jesse as reference must mean you know what you sayin. I dont claim to be as wise a feller as Jesse here so you sayin them Gators be in some deep doo doo with that nOline of yours. Or so you say that's what Jesse says.
Beg to differ and agin will ask to wait n see what transpires up in Tuscaloosa, it'll get here soon nough ya hear.

Posted by: Skeeter | August 13, 2014 at 11:30 AM

^^^^^^^^^

It's not jut what Jesse says although he is at practice every day so that is a pretty good source, wouldn't you agree?

Also take into account last year. What exactly did Chaz Green or Max Garcia do that would lead you to believe they are a solid O-line?

If you don't have anything to support it, then you are just wishing. Which is cool. You are a fan but not so dimwitted as that stool pigeon jlo.

Posted by: Jlo - the lil' blog squirrel | August 13, 2014 at 11:39 AM

Oh yes Mr. Squirrel I do agree Jesse is da man. Since you bring up last year as support for ya lil thesis and whatnot and being that you mention 2 fellas in specific let us see.
What exactly did Chaz do last year? Didlee squat. On account he was injur and miss the whole season. So I say you cant say cheez bout Chaz being solid or not on account of last year Mr Squirrel. Come on now you better than that arent you? You supposed to be some type expert or somthin dont use some poor fella that could not play at all to sell me that nOline barn.
Now lets be cool like you say and come up with some real info. I dont have much free time left to continue versing with ya'll, will try to get back morrow.
Try to keep it real though and bring on some farm animal names next time I am more fond of their kind.

Posted by: Skeeter | August 13, 2014 at 12:13 PM

^^^^^

OK. Pick anyone on the NO-line and tell me what they did other than get Driskel killed and Murphy running for his life everytime he dropped back. Anyone.

Posted by: Jlo - the lil' blog squirrel | August 13, 2014 at 12:21 PM

Dumb SEC 'necks gonna SEC 'neck:

Say Roll Tide! What kind of Alabama criminal are you bro? Do you not know the ground rules around here? Step 1, put on your favorite Bama football shirt. Step 2, commit some sort of crime. Step 3, lean into the nearest reporter’s mike and say Roll Tide. Pretty simple stuff. David Coley, the name that’s going to go down in Alabama state infamy as the dude who wouldn’t say Roll Damn Tide while being shoved into a police cruiser.

Posted by: Jlo - the lil' blog squirrel | August 13, 2014 at 03:11 PM

Sid you should probably get your facts straight before continuing to bring up that farce of a UM/UF game. The line was far from healthy. 3 starters, the center, left guard and left tackle all got knocked out of the game with injuries and arguably their best offensive linemen Halapio, didn't play at all with a torn pec muscle. The team was far from healthy in that game and you guys still barely won. But keep using that joke of a game as a barometer. Stick to the Georgia Southern talk, that makes more sense, even though the Gators gave up on the season at that point.

Posted by: GatorAlum | August 13, 2014 at 07:33 PM

Lol. They came in healthy.....that is a fact. One player out is not an injury riddled team....that's pretty healthy.

Get well soon RJ

Let's be real. We have a lot of symmetry and depth and talent. The last time I remember we had this many players from Florida and most importantly south Florida products we did good. The bonus is the players we get from nationally and internationally that are specifically designed to fit the system you run.

See U all in Blacksburg. Let's stay healthy this year I know that the hunger is there and the dogs got to eat. #magic

I like the fact we have big dogs leading the way in Duke Johnson. He has moves like an American Pitt Bull Terrier You also have Denzel Perryman who hits like an American Bully

Those are both first round draft picks and I believe that there are more players lurking that are future first round draft picks we don't know of that are either freshman or JUCO. 8 and 4 was so last year. We went 9 and 4 last year with a sub level defense and 3 of your best receivers can't finish an entire season and throw in your star RB midway through the season as a can't finish the season. Then you get major heartburn which nothing can cure as you watch the perfect yet very flawed season turn into the same old story.

It's a new season and what else can you do but believe this year will have to be the year THA U is finally back. If everyone who starts this season manages to finish the season then this year will be better than 9 and 4 and we will start a new Era as the first round draft picks pipelines renewed.

No kool-aid just facts. Each year the defense has made small strides but the word this off season is everyone is bought in and I mean everyone both on offense and defense.

Magic happens when you were bought in for the season 7 months ago. 9 and 4 is so last year.

The haters and liars (Harriet, Calvin, Champ Cane, Rabble, TMJ, et al.) have always been lurking around the Canes program.

Many will remember that when the Canes demolished Nebraska in the Rose Bowl to win their 5th National Championship the haters attacked Coker because the Canes didn't win by a wider margin.

Last year the haters were bellowing that the Gators were going to demolish the Canes and when Miami won they criticized the style in which we won. Additionally, with each win during last year's 7 & 0 run they became more frustrated and spewed venom at a record rate, instead of simply enjoying the ride.

Whenever good news is posted on this blog about the Canes or Al Golden is quoted the haters flip-out and start attacking the news/media and in Golden's case attack him and take his words out of context to fit their hate theme.

They attack the U-Tough program and claim that Golden is forcing the players to get bigger, thus they are less athletic and slower. Yet, the facts are our players are more explosive, faster, stronger, athletic and bigger thanks to Al Golden and U-Tough.

And all through last year's 9 & 4 season, this year's spring practice and now into fall practice they do nothing but belittle and predict doom and gloom. Never mind that not one of them knows the first thing about football nor have any of them been to even one practice.

The haters, liars and bigots, mostly Harriet and her never ending aliases, author laughable and ignorant lists attacking those who love the Canes.

Recently and despicably, Harriet has introduced a new hate to this blog...racism! She has done so because of her frustration due to being called out for all her lies, misleading statements and crying that her idiotic, lie strewn statements are being ignored, despite all of them being refuted countless times.

They also lecture those of us who truly are fans when upchucking that their non-stop criticism, hate, venom and lies proves they are the real fans.

If that were true, then the old axiom is applicable here; "With fans like them--we don't need enemies!!"

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3-EFwMpC900

Decepticons Apologists leader, I see you are re-posting totally irresponsible information. I could copy the post I wrote early this morning that defeated everything you apologists believe in. I will state this instead. The talent that is, and has been, possessed by Al Golden, at Miami. Is better than the coach that was fired prior to his hire. But, Al Golden has not won greater than and does not have a bigger win, than him. There is no game that has been won by Al Golden that shows him to be a better coach than Randy Shannon ever was.
