Welcome to my new blog
As a working mother (and wife), health editor and friend to many women who've had breast cancer, I know the importance of women's health and pay particular attention to any health item about women. I also know how busy a woman's life can be, which often means taking shortcuts when taking care of ourselves.
That's where my blog comes in. Years ago, I met regularly with a group of moms at our neighborhood park. While our toddlers played, we shared the latest in parenting stories, joys and tips. I'd like to think of this as the new neighborhood spot for women.
I'll keep you posted on what's worthwhile to know among all the medical studies, local research and success stories. Case in point: A recent blurb in Prevention magazine notes there's a new blood test being tested for detecting ovarian cancer. The test, developed by Yale University researchers, has shown a 99 percent accuracy rate in detecting the cancer. No, it's not on the market yet. But you can read more about it at prevention.com
So, let's make this a conversation. Have a question? A comment? A lesson learned? It will be our neighborhood spot for making our minds and bodies stronger.
