I often write about the ABC (anything but chardonnay) movement because chardonnay seems so cliché – so many people order it without thinking and drink it without tasting it.
Still, chardonnay is a wonderful wine, and I’m going to try to say something nice about it Michael Bittel, of Sunset Corners, will help by listing some that he likes and is opening for tasters at his shop on Saturday, Oct. 25. He’ll even sell you a bottle.

· 2005 Frei Brothers Russian River Valley Chardonnay Reserve; $16.
· 2005 Villa Mt. Eden Grand Reserve Bien Nacido Chardonnay; $13.
· There’ll be four more, from $13 to $35 a bottle.
