Breathing easier at ABC

The broadcast networks don't usually decide which shows they're renewing -- especially those on the bubble between cancellation and renewal -- until late April or early May. But ABC programming boss Stephen McPherson unveiled most of his list of survivors during a network meeting in Los Angeles.

Anneheche McPherson's list included 11 shows, the shakiest of the bunch being Men In Trees (that's Men In Trees star Anne Heche in a relatively sane moment at left). The others: Brothers & Sisters, Ugly Betty, The Bachelor, Boston Legal, Dancing With The Stars, Desperate Housewives, Extreme Makeover: Home Edition, Grey's Anatomy, Jimmy Kimmel Live and Lost. ABC had already announce pickups of America's Funniest Home Videos, Supernanny and Wife Swap.

Conspicuously not on the list: The Nine, Six Degrees, The Knights Of Prosperity, What About Brian? and Big Day. There's still a chance one or two of these might get a last-minute reprieve, but I wouldn't hold space on your TiVo for next season.

One early pickup over at Fox: Prison Break.
