Andy Richter and Conan O'Brien, together again

Richter Andy Richter, who won rave reviews and zero viewers in two sitcoms after leaving his job as sidekick to Conan O'Brien on Late Night in 2000, is returning home. Richter will take over as Tonight show announcer when O'Brien starts hosting the show in June. O'Brien, announcing the move Tuesday, said there's a very good reason: Richter owes him $300.

Jeff

Someone, please clear this up for me. I didn't know Richter ever really announced for O'Brien's show...I thought Jake Godard was the announcer and Richter was, essentially, the sidekick. Am I right? (Of course, this would save money, to have a person be an announcer and sidekick. The formula has worked before...remember Carson and McMahon.)
