Fox mysteriously yanks quiz show 'Our Little Genius'

I hope you haven't gotten too excited about the previews for Fox's Our Little Genius, the kiddie quiz show Timevandoren that was scheduled to kick off on January 13. The show, in which 6-to12-year-olds compete for prizes up to half a million bucks while their parents decide whether to keep the money or go for more -- hey, no pressure kid, it's just the mortgage riding on your knowledge of the Gettysburg Address -- was yanked Thursday.

Speaking of things quizzical, how about this statement from producer Mark Burnett?  “I recently discovered that there was an issue with how some information was relayed to contestants during the pre-production of Our Little Genius," he said. "As a result, I am not comfortable delivering the episodes without re-shooting them. I believe my series must always be beyond reproach, so I have requested that Fox not air these episodes.” Hmm. Anybody remember Charles Van Doren

The previews for this gave me the creeps for some reason, so I'm not surprised...

I believe Mr. Van Doren has done his penance...he admitted to being a party to the rigging on "21". I, for one, accept his apology. Burnett's underlings may be far more guilty than Burnett himself when it comes to setting up the game. I'm glad he seems to have a conscience.
