Screen Gems: TV the week of January 17

24 (9 p.m. Sunday, Fox) -- As the eighth season of Fox's spy thriller kicks off, the United States and Iran 24 are trying to work out their differences in a conference at the United Nations. Then Jack Bauer shows up, and he's not there to sing Give Peace a Chance.

Human Target (8 p.m. Sunday, Fox) -- Mark Valley (Fringe) stars as Christopher Chance, bodyguard to the elite and assassination-prone. Based on a comic book, which tells you pretty much everything you need to know.

Life Unexpected (9 p.m. Monday, The CW) -- A Gilmore Girls-ish series about a 15-year-old girl abandoned at birth who tracks down her parents -- who aren't together anymore but decide to give being a family a shot for the sake of their newfound daughter.

Paranormal Cops (10:30 p.m. Tuesday, A&E) -- This reality series follows Chicago cops who moonlight as ghostbusters. Included here mainly to let you know that television has not yet hit rock bottom.
