Former Hollywood man found murdered in Oregon

The son of a Hollywood Beach restaurateur was recently identified as the victim of a brutal murder in Polk County, Oregon, authorities told Oregon media.

James "Jamie" Hawkes IV, 29, had been working as a confidential informant for the Polk County (Ore.) Interagency Narcotics Team when he was beaten to death by two drug dealers who found out he had been working as a snitch. Hawkes' body was found Dec. 29 in the woods near a cemetery.

The two suspects allegedly told police that they killed him on Dec. 11. They have been charged with aggravated murder, first-degree kidnapping and conspiracy, according to authorities.

Hawkes is the son of Jamie Hawkes, longtime owner of Toucan's, a restaurant/bar on Hollywood Beach.  Services were held Jan. 18. Jamie

Heartbreaking. Prays for his family, him and especially his child.

A friend of Jamie

I knew Jamie, he was my friend. He was a simpleton, borderline mentally retarded, but he had a good heart. These pigs took advantage of that and now he's dead. And he died a horrible death that I wouldn't wish on my worst enemy. According to the autopsy, he was still alive when they dumped his bound body in the woods. No one is sure how long he lived, but Jamie died of dehydration. F these pigs and F the so-called war on drugs.

No one deserves to die like that, especially for simple possession of a small amount of a controlled substance. His blood is on these pig's hands.

R.I.P. Jamie. So sorry that happened. Got bless. 😢

Oh, I forgot to mention. Bar rescue is a great program. He leaves these people and good condition. And he teaches them very well. But if they don't follow his instructions it will not work. And also, we do need to do something about our police going about getting informants. My daughter is a police officer, and we discuss this often. And she agrees with me, something different does have to change. God bless. 🙏
