Child dies in Lauderhill townhome fire

From the Sun Sentinel:

One young boy was able to escape but his brother died early Monday when the townhome they live in caught fire, officials said. "It's a tragic morning," said Lauderhill police Lt. Michael Butkus.

Units from Lauderhill Fire-Rescue and the city's police department arrived at the scene at 2031 NW 59th Way about 4:30 a.m., he said. The two-story townhouse was engulfed in flames that were so intense the firefighters had to back out of the building because the structure was crumbling. At one point, the roof started caving in on the firefighters, Butkus said.
