Dolphins beat Patriots, 33-20 to take opener

The Patriots had won 10 consecutive season-openers ... before today.

End of streak.

The Dolphins, behind a ferocious defense led by Cameron Wake and impressive run game led by Knowshon Moreno, beat the Patriots 33-20 at Sun Life Stadium.

The Dolphins are atop the AFC East today.

The Patriots are in last place.

Yes, yes, I know it is only one game. But as one game goes, this was pretty impressive.

The Dolphins erased a 20-13 halftime deficit by scoring 20 unanswered second half points. Yes, the Patriots wilted but it didn't seem all about the weather.

The Miami defense sacked Tom Brady four times and had him getting hit so often that he actually started throwing early or spots where there were no receivers, or inaccurately. He seemed rattled at times. Wake finished with two sacks.

Moreno, signed in the offseason, put toughness behind the Miami running game, gaining 134 yards on 24 carries. Lamar Miller rushed for 59 yards on 11 carries for good measure. Remember who told you Moreno was the lead back?

The amazing thing is the Dolphins beat up the Patriots even as they had three turnovers. Think about that. Three turnovers and still they won going away.
