Miami Dolphins giving Dan Campbell legitimate chance to be the boss

The Dan Campbell era begins today. Will it be the Dan Campbell error?

The Miami Dolphins don't believe so. The Dolphins believe Campbell, hired as the interim coach after the firing of Joe Philbin, will do the job.

And if he does the job, Dolphins executive vice president Mike Tannenbaum tells me Campbell absolutely can get the fulltime gig.

"Absolutely that's the case," Tannenbaum insisted even when I pressed him. "I know it's not going to be perfect. I know there will be bumps in the road. But I'm encouraged watching him. Everything he has said would happen has happened so far."

And one of the things he's said would happen is he would work toward relating to his players -- something that wasn't necessarily a Joe PHilbin strength.

I wrote my column in today Miami Herald on the topic.

Campbell took me inside his conversations with Ryan Tannehill, Ndamukong Suh and Mike Pouncey this week as he tries to forge that relationship.

Read the column.
