Welcome to "Driven: The Blog," which proves that if you give a guy a keyboard and a set of wheels you never know where he'll show up next.
Call it an outgrowth of my automotive column which appeared in The Miami Herald on most Sundays over the past six years.
When I was first approached about the idea of a blog, I thought, what the heck is a blog again? After giving it some thought, I figured it would be a great avenue to share my automotive commentaries online as well as interesting tidbits of car info that crosses my desk each week.
And maybe there would be a few observations: Like, when are carmakers really going to commit to fuel-cell technology? And why don't slow-poke left-lane drivers get it? And is it really beneficial to buy a hybrid, or is it still just a statement?
Driven also can serve as a forum for readers, a place to offer or solicit opinions on cars, trucks, brands, gadgets or those wild South Florida drivers.
Car nuts love to drive, polish, show and talk about their cars. Here's the place to talk. All I ask is that you keep it civil, decent and fun.
So, to quote Steppenwolf, ‘Get your motor runnin,' head out on the highway.' And let's see where this highway takes us -- your guess is as good as mine!
