Win Big Here -- Panthers Opening Night Contest Now Open

Well, the time you all have been waiting for is finally here.

Yes, The Miami Herald's On Frozen Pond Opening Night Spectacular Giveaway is now in progress.

It's a simple contest really, so don't let the rules (listed here) scare you off. Here are the basics:

Every day from now (Thursday Oct. 2) until Wednesday (Oct. 8) at noon, I will offer a Florida Panthers trivia question.

To enter the contest – I will accept one entry per person per day – all you have to do is answer the Daily Question. Email (grichards@MiamiHerald.com) the answer along with your name, age, address and contact number.

We won't call you for anything other than if you win, so feel free to put in your cellphone number if that's the best way to reach you. The Panthers will begin trying to contact the winner soon afterward.

The contest is only offered to those 18 and older who live in South Florida (Miami-Dade, Broward, Palm Beach).

So what are we giving away? Pretty cool stuff, actually. If you like hockey, you'll like this.

The Grand Prize consists of:

-- Four (4) tickets in the ADT Club (free food and drinks) for the Panthers' home opener at BankAtlantic Center on Saturday, Oct. 11 versus the Atlanta Thrashers.

-- Limo service (50 miles max each way) to and from the game.

-- A Panthers team signed hockey stick

-- Four (4) Panthers baseball caps

-- Four (4) Panthers backpacks

Make sure you check in each day and don't forget to tell your friends. The more entries, the more chances you'll get. We will RANDOMLY select the winner from all of the entries sent in.

Good luck.

And now, GAME ON!

Daily Question No. 1 – Oct. 2, 2008

“What year did the Panthers begin play at what is now known as BankAtlantic Center in Sunrise?” HINT: This is the arena's 10th anniversary.

Email your answer – along with your name, age, address and contact number – to: grichards@MiamiHerald.com

Friday's question will not be hard, but it won't be as easy as this one. Trust me.
