BOSTON -- Things just got real for the Florida Panthers

Roberto Luongo is coming home.

Luongo has confirmed that the Canucks have traded him back to the Panthers. Luongo, who continues to reside a few miles north of Florida's training facility in Coral Springs, had been working on coming back to the team for some time.

Under Mike Keenan, the Panthers traded Luongo to the Canucks in a lopsided deal on the eve of the 2006 NHL Draft being held in Vancouver. Florida got Bryan Allen, Todd Bertuzzi and Alex Auld in that deal.

The Panthers reportedly are sending Jacob Markstrom -- long considered their goalie of the future -- to Vancouver.

Luongo and Tim Thomas, who famously battled it out in the 2011 Stanley Cup Finals, are now teammates. Scott Clemmensen, put on waivers on Tuesday, may be headed to San Antonio.

More as we move along....
