Projecting UF's defensive depth chart...

IN THE NEWS: Hawaii has a new starting quarterback, according to the Honolulu paper...

GAINESVILLE -- Here's the defense. A few things to note: 1. No Javier Estopinan. 2. Florida is one injury to Major Wright away from disaster in the secondary.

FYI: This is my opinion only and it is based on observations during practice and interviews with coaches and players...

--Jermaine Cunningham, jr., A balanced defensive end expected to fill the void left by Derrick Harvey.
--Duke Lemmens, soph., A reliable option for the Gators' D-line rotation.

--Lawrence Marsh, Rsoph., Confidence is up for this former defensive end. Marsh shed a few pounds during the offseason and has worked his way up the depth chart.
--Terron Sanders, Rsoph., Will see significant action.

--Troy Epps, jr., Impressed coaches with his strength and toughness during the offseason.
--John Brown, soph., Progressing slowly.

--Carlos Dunlap, soph., Potential to be one of the best pass rushers in the Southeastern Conference. Still needs to work on his run defense.
--Justin Trattou, soph., Starting Trattou would not be a drop off.

--Dustin Doe, jr., Second-year starter is "all business" this season, according to Brandon Spikes
--Lorenzo Edwards, soph., Perhaps the Gators most talented linebacker next to Spikes.

--Brandon Spikes, jr., A first-round draft pick.
--Ryan Stamper, Rjr., One of the Gators' most-improved players, according to coaches.

--A.J. Jones, Rsoph., Dedicated himself to improving this offseason. Gained about 20 pounds of muscle.
--Brandon Hicks, soph., Another improved player. A heavy hitter, according to teammates.

--Ahmad Black, soph., Was a third-string cornerback last season.
--Justin Williams, Rsoph., Has only played safety for one week.

--Major Wright, soph., A knockout artist.
--Will Hill, fresh., Head still swimming.

--Joe Haden, soph., Looking like an SEC cornerback, according to Meyer.
--Markihe Anderson, jr., Could be a solid option if he can stay healthy.

--Wondy Pierre-Louis, jr., Will be the SEC's most improved player, according to Gator Clause.
--Jacques Rickerson, Rsoph., When does J-Rick make good on his hype?
