My son, PHILIP HAGAN WICKETT, shot himself in the mouth on March 1st, 2007. He was only 23 years old. My husband and I were the ones to find his lifeless body , covered in HIS own blood, with half of his brain splattered on the wall! A year and a half later, I am still WEEPING and escaping life by staying in bed. His stupid psychiatrist, kept assuring us...that he was not at risk for SUICIDE! I truly believe that we are a nation of GUNS and violence! I wish all guns were banned in this good ole USA. I would like to see the comparison of our murders, suicides, and accidental shootings to those countries that do NOT allow citizens to bear arms! So, parents like me, would never have to suffer from such a traumatic death.I really have NO idea how I will be able to go on...without my special son gone from my depressed life FOREVER! Until we meet in Heaven. I would like to know the stats too, on how many people think they are shooting an intruder...but OOPS...it is a family member they just killed! I NEVER thought my life would ever be turned upside down like this...but let me tell you...this is the most terrible sorrow and horrific PAIN that I have ever endured. And I am not sure that I can endure it for too many more days!! If USA has to sell guns..PLEASE make it harder for peeople to get their hands on the guns and the ammo. Whatever happened to the 5 day waiting period? My son, walked in to a store, and bought a rifle and the ammo the same day..NO PROBLEM with no questions asked. And, proceeded to use that gun to kill himself! There HAS to be a screening process or something to prevent kids like Philip, who had an illness...from making a knee jerk reaction that he cannot take back! Come on America! Look at the stats. Someone has killed themself just since I have written this! WHAT a damn shame! WAKE UP EVERYBODY...I sure do not want YOU to have to go through the HELL that I am going through! There will NEVER be JOY in my life ever again. Philip's illness and that gun...took all my JOY away... Still hurting, Philip's MaMa
