Over 60 co-organizers to participate in National Equality Rally at Independence Hall

The National Equality Rally at Independence Hall announced that over 60 Co-Organizers have registered to March for Equality on Independence Mall on Sunday, May 3, 2009.

“The National Equality Rally was launched in February. Every day organizations from across the nation are joining the March for Equality,” stated Malcolm Lazin, Executive Director of Equality Forum.

The regional, state, national and international organizations participating include:

  • CenterLink: The Community of LGBT Centers
  • Cheltenham High School Alliance
  • Equality Federation
  • Gay and Lesbian Latino Aids Education Initiative (GALEI)
  • Georgia Interfaith Alliance
  • Global Justice Ministry of MCC
  • J.U.S.T for Youth Coalition
  • Kentucky Equality Federation
  • New Hampshire Freedom to Marry
  • Philadelphia Family Pride
  • Queer Justice league
  • Servicemembers Legal Defense Network (SLDN)
  • South Carolina Pride Alliance
  • Trans-Health Information Project (TIP)
  • U Penn Queer Student Alliance
  • The Womyn’s Village

Gay Pioneers Frank Kameny and Lilli Vincenz will lead the March for Equality. Leaders will carry their organization’s name on pole-mounted placards. Activists, participants and straight allies will be offered American and rainbow flags. After completion of the March, activists, organizations, and allies will fill in Independence Mall for a one-hour high-impact Rally.

Regional, state and national organizations, people of color, progressive religious institutions, high school and college GSAs and straight ally organizations are invited to be Co-Organizers without cost.
