Sharon Gless, Benjamin Bratt among stars to be featured at this year's Miami Gay & Lesbian Film Festival

mglff-logoThe 12th annual Miami Gay & Lesbian Film Festival runs from April 23 to May 2, and this week festival organizers unveiled this year’s lineup at theaters throughout Miami-Dade County.

Thursday night, the festival held it’s Producers’ Circle reception where sponsors were told details of this year’s event:

The opening night film, I Killed My Mother, from Canada, will have its Florida premiere April 23 at Gusman Center for the Performing Arts in downtown Miami. The opening night gala will follow at Calix Gustav Gallery in Wynwood.

Actress Sharon Gless (Cagney & Lacey; Queer as Folk) will receive the 2010 Career Achievement Award when her new film, Hannah Free, is screened Saturday, April 24, at the Regal Cinemas in South Beach.

This year’s Trailblazer Award goes to Wolfe Video, the largest and oldest distributor of LGBT cinema.

There will be a choice of two centerpiece films this year, The Four-Faced Liar and Bear Nation, both to be screened April 28 at the Regal. A reception follows at Bar 721 off Lincoln Road.

Friday’s special live event: An Evening with Coco Peru, 8 p.m. April 30, at The Playground Theatre in Miami Shores. VIP tickets ($40) include a meet-and-greet cocktail reception afterward.

The closing night film, La Mission, starring Benjamin Bratt, will screen May 2 at Gusman. A closing night party will be at Cafeina in Wynwood.
